Ah! You found it!" It was nearly hidden with all of the greenery surrounding it, but there really wasn't that much on the thing. "I'm sure she won't mind." Sathe hopped onto the cart, taking the initiative to gather up the smaller gardening tools and making a neat pile for them on the ground. "We'll probably be back before her anyways. The longer she keeps up the garden, the farther she tends to travel to get plants. Last time she was almost on the west coast." She wiped her hands on her pants, leaving the bag of dirt for Gaddok. It seemed like it was much too heavy for her little arms to lift. "Oh! I'm sorry. When Aminah leaves, I like to check on Bay and Bon to make sure they're alright. Do you mind if I pop in for just a second?"

She smiled to Gaddok but didn't really wait for an answer before she disappeared into the darkness of the house. But after just a few minutes, she was coming through the back door, ready to get to work. "That's better."

Gaddok had made short work of moving the dirt and by the time Sathe had reemerged from the house, he had already removed the cart without too much damage to the tangled greenery. “So, what’s a Bon and Bay?” His curiosity got the better of him as he tried to peer past her into the dark house when the door opened.

Sathe laughed out at his question. She guessed she did leave a lot to the imagination on that one. She grabbed a hold of the cart, readying to start pulling through to Jauhar. "My Sister's two menk. I have my own back home. They're sweeties. We got them the day we found out about the King." She frowned a little at the end of her sentence. With war looming over them now-a-days it wasn't something she liked to linger on.

With a small shake of her head she replaced her smile and threw herself into the journey ahead. "C'mon! We need to get moving if we're going to have enough time to be back before dark."

"Menk, huh? Those fish things, right?" He was quite sure that was what she was talking about, but he had a hard time understand what part of gasping underwater creature inspired the description 'Sweeties'. Could a fish portray a sweet demeanor?

Shrugging off the thought, He came up beside Sathe and stole away the handle, "How about I worry about pulling this cart, and you navigate." He slid the shovel into the wagon and dropped his bag back there also, "After all, I'm rather unfamiliar with the area, its very important that you get us to where we need to go."

"Mmmm that could be a better idea." She laughed before letting go and stepping away from the cart. "Let's get to it then." She skipped a few steps forward, only stopping and looking behind to see if Gaddok was still with her.

The trip through the rest of Tale and Jauhar was long, and by the time they were there it was already well past noon. Sathe held her hand above her eyes and looked to the sun before they stepped into the forest in front of them. It had her thinking that maybe it would have been better left for some day they could have left before the sun even rose. That would have been ideal. But she wasn't worried about it and definitely didn't think she could be picky about when they left. Not when Gaddok was doing so much for her already.

Finally into the forest and almost to their destination, Sathe leaned down to inspect the dirt on the floor. It was around here somewhere. The signs everywhere told her she was on the right track. Now she just had to remember exactly where. "Ummm..." She spun around in a couple of 360's and almost seemed to stop on a random whim. "I'm pretty sure it's this way." She smiled to Gaddok before leading him finally to their destination. She could hear it before she could see it. The bubbling of the brook meant that she had most definitely picked the right way. With a little bit of a skip in her step, they reached the banks of the small stream that was lined with rich wonderful deep red clay. She let out a little sound of excitement when her toes sunk into the wet clay on the banks.

Setting the handle against the front wall of the cart, Gaddok let out a sigh of relief, "I would be lying if I said you didn't have me a little worried there." He's taken directions from females and been astounded that they remember how to get anywhere... A left at the tree with the twisted branch, and a right at the purplish tinted rock... Honestly, Is there something wrong with 'North' and 'East'?

But nonetheless, they'd arrived, and there was work to be done. Stripping off his tunic, Gaddok placed his hands on his hips and looked around, "Its... Really dark in here," and would be increasingly darker as time progressed. There surely was some subtle beauty to Jauhar, but either his eyes hadn't adjusted to the darkness, or he was missing what kept the Shifters here.

"Have you ever stayed overnight in this area? Would you be opposed to starting a small fire... Namely for vision and safety; Can't say that I brought much to eat that requires heat." He began rooting around for some fist size or better rocks to begin building a fire ring with, as well as piling off some fallen branches and such. The materials in the area were relatively damp, he had hoped that it was due to the brook, and not the atmosphere. Maybe starting a fire would be out of the question.

D: I am to assume it is really dark in there and whatnot right? (Sathe getting the position of the sun before entering the woods/hearing the brook before they see it...) If not let me know and I can edit... Or just assume that Gaddok has lived with the Wind Earthlings his whole life and the wonder and beauty of the forest, as well as the dull neon light of the fungi that inhabit it are too impractical for him to wrap his head around and he doesn't view them as a proper light source. XD

Sathe put her hands on her hips, puffing out her cheeks in a pout. "Are you saying you would doubt me?" She couldn't hold her feigned anger for long though before she broke into a small chuckle. "I told you I was better without a map." She wiggled her toes in the clay before running to Gaddok's side to help where she could.

"Can't say that I have." She smiled up at him, mimicking his last sentence in her response. Being so close now it was easy to feel the height difference. Man was he tall. "The only time I was ever in Jauhar it was in a shifter village in the canopy. Which makes a fire sound really good." She looked over at the trees for any moss or anything small to use for starting it. "We should have something going in no time."

akuma_kessaku
Close. It's like a dusky atmosphere during the day so it's really dim. So a fire is appropriate :]

Gaddok grinned, "Well, you smothered my doubt in your navigating skills..." He paused and quickly corrected himself, "To places you know anyway... How you would find a place by the directions of others' is a whole other story." he laughed and began stacking sticks in a square, filling the center with dried foliage.

Retrieving rock and steel bar from his knapsack, Gaddok returned to the fire. striking the flint rock to the steel he produced a few sparks which fell into the tinder. blowing gently, Gaddok managed to grow the sparks into a tiny flame, to which he added more of the dried foliage and little dried twigs.

"We have light~" He announced while continuing to feed the fire until it chewed away at the box wall of thicker branches that surrounded it., "I'll leave you to tend to the fire, and I'll begin working on the clay."

Getting to his feet, Gaddok removed his items from the wagon and turned it so the back of the wagon was facing the clay, he then put his items beside a tree in the glow of the fire, and stripped off the sticky linen shirt he was still wearing. Grasping the shovel he got to the clay, jabbed it a few times to see how firm the soil was and then, when it gave, he dug in and began shoveling.

Sathe clapped for Gaddok's successful fire, her face twisting into a lighthearted smirk. "Well it seems that finding you for the job just turns out to be better and better." She squatted beside the fire, already appreciating the way the day was turning out.

The shirt Gaddok was wearing came off and Sathe couldn't help but forget where she was for a second. He picked up the shovel and Sathe let herself watch for just a few minutes, admiring the pull and push of the muscles in his arms and trying not to be too noticeable in her staring before she looked back to the fire.

Tend the fire. Right.

Gaddok managed to pile in enough clay to fill the bottom of the wagon, and decided this would be a good time to pause. Stabbing the shovel into the earth, he wiped his forehead and leaned onto the shovel, “whew, its sticky here…” coming from Sauti were you get a nice icy breeze off the mountains to here is quite the change for him.

“You wouldn’t happen to know if there is edible plants or the likes out here? I have some dried meat and possibly a seasoning packet or two I wouldn’t have ordinarily used. Not much of a cook myself… Heck I would just eat the meat dried. ” He laughed and wiped his forehead, “My mom likes to experiment on me with her drying of fruits and meats. She pairs seasoning packets of herbs and seasonings with the meat and tells me to “fill up a pot, and soak the meat in it, then put in the packet and enjoy.” His voice raised to a mock woman voice as he quoted his mother.

“Of course I imagine it is much more enjoyable cooked.” He added while retrieving the small makeshift metal pot from his knapsack, “After all, “Mother knows best~”he added in his lady voice as he scoffed at his mocking, confident that one day he would most likely eat those mocked words. Walking up river a ways he scooped up some water in the pan and took a sip, swished, swallowed, and waited while deciding if the water was poor or not. Not tasting anything sour, bitter or overall off about the water he filled the pot and knocking a couple rocks into the fire he propped the water in near the fire.

Before Sathe could even process the time passing, Gaddok already had the bottom of the cart filled. It was amazing how fast he could work, and she welcomed his break in laboring for her, especially if it meant his company.

She laughed out at his motherly impersonation, wondering what kind of woman his mother really was. It would be an interesting meet for sure. "Well I can honestly say that I didn't inherit a single bit of my sister's knack for plants, but she did teach me enough to fend for myself if I was ever without her." She was lucky for that, but she was more than hoping that she would never be in that desperate a situation. "You're lucky to have your mother to look out for you." She chuckled.

Her stomach let out a grumble of frustration with her for not eating sooner and she pursed her lips. "It looks like this is just the right time for a break." She stood from her squat by the fire and fumbled through the water's banks for some edible tubers.

Gaddok blushed and rubbed the back of his neck, “Yeah, I suppose I am quite lucky to have her.” And I wouldn’t trade her for the world. His mother was more like his best friend than his mother; a best friend, that made and washed your clothes, tended to your room while you were away, provided food, shelter, and on top of all that gave you a source of discretion to release your anxieties on.

Seeing the water had come to a boil, Gaddok placed the dehydrated contents of the prepared meal into the bowl, and then moved it off of direct flame. Looking around he found some vines hanging down from a limb that hung over their camp. If he gathered a few more and wove them together he may be able to make a hammock; that would serve as a better bed than the solid earth he sat on. Keeping his eyes peeled he stirred the gradual rehydrating soup with a small hunting knife he had on hand. There appeared to be a few more vines across the stream that may suffice to build a hammock.

The soup was mostly done, using a stick for leverage and slipping the knife under the lip of the bowl Gaddok pulled the soup out of the fire to finish rehydrating. Sheathing the knife and slipping it in his belt, he crossed the stream and scaled the tree. Swinging over to the branch with the vines, Gaddok straddled it and cut a couple vines. He dangled them over the earth, trying to coil them as he lowered and eventually dropped them. Jumping down he repeated the process with tree just down the way, but as he scooted out onto the limb he lost his grip, nearly falling from the tree. Grabbing the vines as he fell, Gaddok stopped himself momentarily; the vine detangled and dropped him to the earth.

Sitting up, Gaddok pulled some leaves from his hair and chuckled, “Guess that’s what I get for getting cocky, eh?” Cutting the rest of the vines, he returned to the fire and dropped the vines at the base of the trees trunk. “The soup should be done, feel free to dig in.” He sorted through the mass of vines and as he found an end he sorted enough out to throw it over the overhanging branch. Once all the vines were sorted and up in the tree, Gaddok scaled the trunk and climbed over to the dangling vines. Weaving in the vines he had cut a hammock was made. Dangling over the bed he slowly slipped into it. The hammock was a bit small for him, but perfect for what he intended to use it for, bouncing in it a few times to ensure it was sturdy and safe he climbed out.

He dangled from the branch by his arms for a second, then dropped to the ground, “Well, There’s your bed. Bit too cramped for me, should be perfect for you though. It’s up off the ground too, so you don’t have to worry about pesky critters bugging you while you sleep.”

Sathe watched Gaddok work and felt rather helpless. She wasn't used to having everything done for her, not without her help at least."Are you sure there isn't something more I could help with?" Her eyebrows pulled together in a frown. But he was already done and finished before she could do anything. And fallen from a tree. She smiled, holding back her laugh. "Well, I'm sure it was for a noble cause at least."

She looked to the soup, not wanting to eat without him, but she could at least get some bowls ready for the two of them. She ladled out two bowls and watched as Gaddok seemed to get together a makeshift bed. "You really didn't have to do all of that now." She blushed. He was being way too good to her, that was for sure. She held up a bowl for Gaddok. "You should eat too, you know. Now that you're done making a home out of the forest." She laughed at her own poke at Gaddok.

Once he had his bowl, she took a long sip from the soup before digging in. She was hungry and it was good. "Your mom seems to know what she's doing with these flavor packets." It felt like it only took her moments to get through the first bowl and she was getting herself a small second. "Would you like some more?" She looked up to Gaddok, almost embarrassed for just helping herself to so much.

Gaddok gratefully took the bowl and inhaled it. Once he had downed the broth he picked out the pieces of meat and tossed them to his mouth, chewed briefly then swallowed. “Yeah, it definitely tastes better when you use the herbs I guess… I always manage to screw it up somehow.”

When offered more he smiled and scooped a half serving, “Alright, a little bit. Best not to work with too full a stomach; might get sick that way.” Taking a bit more time with this bowl he actually tried to enjoy it as soup rather than meat and a beverage. There was plenty more work to be done, but for some odd reason he couldn’t bring himself to get back to it just yet, “Not that it is any of my business, but if you would indulge me; what do you use all of this clay for?”

Sathe swirled the second helping she had in her bowl, her face lighting up at the question. She wiggled her toes where she sat, imitating her satisfaction earlier in the sludgy ground. She lived for the clay, how could she even explain it to him?

"I use the clay to create." She smiled blissfully. "I love the feeling of it between my fingers and in the palms of my hands while I'm shaping new things. Mainly it's pottery for the village. I give whatever I have extra to anyone who needs it: a new family starting their home together, to help when someone loses their house or belongings, whatever the situation may be. Other times I'm just shaping whatever comes to mind." She took another sip of her soup before putting it down and stretching her hands out in front of her, following the shapes of the markings on her hands from moving and using the clay before she found Gaddok. Her hands showed some wear, but she wouldn't have traded it for anything.

"It's really something very close to my soul that you're helping me with." She laughed out. It sounded lame, but it was truth. Gaddok earned a special place in her circle of friends and family for so willingly helping her move all of this clay around. Even though he was to be paid, she liked to think that he was helping for more than just monetary satisfaction.
