Seeing what the stallion was doing, Daenerys imitated him and took up a position on Umeko's other side. Body to body, she could truly feel how cold Umeko was. It was shocking that a body could grow so chill so quickly and Daenerys repressed a shiver of her own at that frigid contact.
"It'll be all right," she told Umeko. Even as she said the words, she felt another chill that had nothing to do with the temperature. She had said something very similar to the poor dying usdia those weeks ago. She had been too late to do anything then, but it wasn't too late now. "You're going to be fine," she said, more firmly. This time was different. This time, due to the intervention of the stallion whose name she still didn't know, Umeko would live.

Umeko let out a surprised sound as the stallion aided her in moving closer to the fire that she craved the warmth from. The fire was still weak though and although she was closer to it the warmth that she was getting was still too little to do any change. To Umeko it felt like she would never be warm again. Her thoughts were jumbling around in her mind and it was disconcerting just how tired she was becoming. The alicorn sighed softly and let her eyes close. For a minute she remained that way, quiet and still, until she felt her body bracketed by both Daenerys and the stranger. Her eyes flew open once more.
Although there was a sense of warmth from her leader's body, the stallion still seemed a bit on the cold side with the contact along her back. The actions of both the stranger and Daenerys were having the desired effect though. Umeko brought her gaze to meet that of the stranger before giving him a long look over. Her voice was quiet as she spoke around teeth that still chattered a little, "t-thank y-you."

Astúcia looked down at the smaller mare with gentle eyes. He was more than happy to help the lesser. Being Kalona, he would never truly escape the thought of pure being lesser, but he would never harm them and believed that they had just as much a place as he did. And some lessers were more beautiful than some Kalona he's seen.
"You are very welcome. Don't waste too much strength talking though."
Astúcia then did something out of character for a Kalona, even a kind one as himself. Gently, barley touching the mare, he nudged her neck a bit, lightly breathing on it. He had hoped a bit more warm from his breath might help. He certainly didn't see how it could possibly hurt.
After a few seconds, he pulled back away. He was sure that the mare was grateful, but he didn't want to frighten either of them into thinking he had any other motives than to save the smaller mare.

Now Daenerys was grateful when her draconic children returned to huddle against her. Their heat would keep her from freezing, at least. Looking at Umeko and their new companion, Dany felt a tug at her heart when she saw what the kalona was doing. He was breathing heat onto her neck, as gently as a mother might care for a foal.
"Sir, what is your name?" she asked him, wanting to be able to call him something other than 'the kalona' in her mind.

The advice that the strange Kalona gave to Umeko was taken to heart. She relaxed briefly and felt the warm air on her neck as the stallion attempted to continue to help raise her core temperature. Umeko had been startled at first to feel the stream of air against her neck but she didn't show the reaction. Her gaze went to the shattered ice of the lake where she had fallen through such a short time ago.
It was a strange turn of events that had resulted in this odd picture of herself being bracketed on either side by a warm body. Umeko was not complaining. The warmth was returning to her own body. She gave a soft sound before letting her neck rest gently against the Kalona's body. Her eyes closed as she caught Daenerys's question. She just wanted to rest.

Astúcia looked at the larger mare and bowed he his head slightly.
"My name is Astúcia Protecció. May I ask the names of such mares wandering through the woods?"
He felt the smaller mare rest her head on his body. Glad that she now seemed to be relaxing and becoming warmer. He was certainly happy he had been passing through the area. Who knew what would have happened had he not been passing by. He shook his head a bit, not wanting to think about the disaster that may have fallen upon both of them.
Astúcia silently looked over at the lake himself, thankful he had, in fact, had the power to bring the mare to safety.

"My name is Daenerys Targaryen, alpha of the nearby herd." The kalona had a foreign name to her, not one that she knew how to place either locally or from any of the lands she had lived in during her youth. Maybe he came from a place where kalonas were all a noble breed. It was an interesting thought.
"My companion is Umeko." She gave Umeko's name, not knowing if she had the energy yet to engage in introductions.

Astúcia bowed his head a bit in respect of her status among her herd. He always felt it was important to be very respectful and curt when addressing and receiving a herd leader. Though he was sure she would excuse not having such formalities in this instance.
"Pleasure to know you, Daenerys. And to help Umeko."
He looked around a bit. Attempting to see off in the distance a little. He was vaguely wondering what the rest of their herd could be thinking to let two mares just wander around and then not come and check on them. Though with one being the herd leader herself, he could see where they might be giving her space instead.
"Are you going to need help getting back to your herd?"

The chance to remain silent and listen to Daenerys and Astucia talk allowed Umeko to continue to absorb the warmth from both Soquili as they continued to bracket her body. The mare was still feeling a little sluggish from her "swim" in the cold water. After the greetings were exchanged Umeko caught Astucia's question to Daenerys. However there was something else she needed to say first.
Raising her head to peer behind her at the kalona Umeko met his gaze and spoke quietly, "thank you for saving me."
Her gaze took in the lake once more before eying the direction she and Daenerys had come from. Now more than ever Umeko wanted to be back with the rest of the Khalasar.

Astúcia caught Umeko's eyes, smiling a bit at her. He was glad the mare seemed to be getting warmer and was certainly doing much better than she had been, even if she was still weak.
"The pleasure is mine Umeko."
Astúcia lightly touched his nose to her, hopefully comforting her. He wasn't sure if any of the contact made her uncomfortable, that certainly wasn't his intention. Then he had a fleeting thought of what their herd would think of such a thing. Most of them, he was sure, wouldn't believe their eyes.
Astúcia shook his head a bit, staring off into the distance. No matter what he was going to help the mares until they no longer needed him by their side.

Daenerys was glad to see that Umeko had regained the strength to speak. If she could stay awake and alert then she probably was going to be fine. Daenerys didn't exactly have healing training, but it made a certain amount of sense to her.
"I think it would be best if you could help us back to the herd," she said to the kalona. "I don't think that I'm strong enough to support Umeko if she needs it." she looked at Astúcia, with an amazed sort of gratefulness that one such as he could appear just when he was most needed. "We owe you a great debt, Astúcia. If there is anything within my power that I can do to repay it, I will see that it is done."

Umeko had managed to follow most of the conversation between Daenerys and Astucia without too much hardship. Although still sodden down with moisture her wings fluttered feebly against her side. Her eyes fluttered close slowly for a moment as she registered that she was still quite chilled.
"Are we going soon?"
Her voice was still weak and the question came out rather plaintively. Unsure of what the answer would be Umeko wondered how she'd manage the trek. The herd wasn't that far but in her condition it would take ages to get back.~Twilight...Angel~ Yikes, forgot about this.

Astúcia nodded at Daenerys, happy to help the mares back to their herd if they needed him to.
"It would be my honor to be sure that you and Umeko got back to your herd safe."
He looked at the smaller mare as she spoke. He, of course, did not have the answer to when they were going to try and get back to the herd. Not wanting to decide something like that for the, presumably, shaken up mares. One had witnessed the other in a deadly situation. He was not able to asses for them when they were ready.
Astúcia looked to the larger mare, figuring that she would use her best judgement to decide what was best for a member of her herd.
Roniel Targaryen Tag! And I can't spell, so for my needs: Daenerys - Umeko

"I think it would be best if we remained here until Umeko feels a little more hearty," said Daenerys, seeing that Umeko clearly wasn't ready to move yet. The fire was starting to warm up and it would be pleasant to linger there for a while longer.
"Astúcia," Daenerys watched the kalona over her shoulder. "Do you have a herd of your own nearby? Perhaps a herd of kalona like yourself?" She phrased it politely, but there was a reason for her asking. This kalona was friendly but not all were. If there was a larger group of them about then they needed to get moving sooner rather than later.
