The scary part was... he didn't know. If there were traitors among the Negaverse, he never heard of them, or saw them. If they existed, then either they were hidden from the rest of the officers, to keep the notion of possible side swapping out of other officer's heads. Or, worse, they were exposed off immediately.
And with what Vespa suspected, he feared it was the latter of those. If there were anyone with traitorous thoughts among the Negaverse, he was certain that they did not last long. And he would be no exception...
"I'm sure there are options too, but... none of them would end well for me if the Negaverse was to find out, I think." Vespa said, casting his gaze downwards and exposing his green eyes to her unknowingly, as well as his shame. "I appreciate it, but... look, just forget about it. About me. I'm not worth it. Even if I wanted a way out of this, there isn't. Not without some dire consequences."
He turned away and began to limp away, knowing that she wouldn't have been pleased with his refusal but feeling like there was no other option left for him. He had to go before an officer dropped in on them and made matters worse for the both of them. He paused in his march to call back to her. "I won't tell them about this encounter, okay? So you should be fine... now get going."
He appreciated the chance of hope that she offered to him, but Vespa was never one for positive thinking. It never usually ended well for him in the past...
