"Well yeah, sometimes. I like being with others over being on my own. But I run into new friends often enough so I'm not alone all the time. Like I said, maybe some day I'll find a herd or something and settle down. Won't find it if I don't look though. What about you? Do you have a family?"

Lady Aria Starstone Kai shifted a bit in the water, and shook his head. "Nooo... I live alone, and have no family. I don't know any others of my kind, really... either type." He sighs and shifts so his tail is visible. "And since I take after the seathi side more, I have no chance to come to land and meet anyone there either."

"I'm sorry to hear that," he sighed. "Honestly I always thought those living under water would be able to find eachother fairly easily. Don't know why I thought that now that I think of it."

Lady Aria Starstone "There's so much space below... and so many places to hide." He sighed again, and drums a hoof on the ice. "So much kelp, which I admit is tasty, but..."

Ilum tilted his head to one side, "You know. I couldn't imagine just being able to go up and down whenever I wanted. It must be so different under the water compared to dry land. And there's kelp? Is that like bushes or trees? It must cover a fair amount of space if it can be used to hide in. Right?"

Lady Aria Starstone "Mmmm I always wonder what it's like to be on land. Or to fly... But it is nice to have up and down, instead of just left and right. Lots of directions to go in, lots of places to explore." He blinked a little, and thinks. "Yeeees I guess it's... sort of similar? Have you been to a beach and seen loooong strands of green or brown stuff washed ashore? Some of it might be kelp, or other types of seaweed..."

"Oh no, I admit I don't really make a habit of visiting beaches. I'm more at home in the thick forests and open plains than near cliffs, sand and water," he smiled. "I would like to try some someday though. Especially if you say it's tasty... Hey, what about a trade? You bring me some kelp, and I'll bring you something that you wouldn't be able to get under water. How does that sound?"

Lady Aria Starstone "Well I find it tasty certainly. But sure. Hmmm... I have no idea what to ask for. There's so many landthings I've never seen or had!" He spun in a circle for a moment, looking so excited. "Ohhh I know! I have heard of 'fruit' and that it is tasty. Maybe some fruit?" He said it like there was no varieties, like he had no idea that fruit came in types. "I'll bring a nice long strand of kelp for you!"

"Sure, it doesn't normaly grow this time of year but that's a pretty broad category so I'm sure I could find you something," he wrinkled his nose, thinking. Someone nearby had to know where a nice store of winter apples could be found. Maybe some bush or another was still carrying some berries. If that was so, he'd be able to make a small parcel and bring it back to the little fishie. He nodded again, "Alright. I'll meet you back here when the sun touches the horizon." He gestured out over the waters.

Lady Aria Starstone "A... broad category?" He looked confused. "There's more then one kind of fruit? WELL. That is... I had no idea! Interesting. I'll have to keep that in mind." He nodded his head at that, then pondered the seasonal issue. "I admit, we don't get much of the seasonal with the kelp... it grows year round. And sure, we can meet at sunset." He turned, oriented himself and grinned. He knew JUST the spot for a nice branch of kelp!

Ilum laughed, "Oh yes. There are many kinds of fruit. Maybe when spring comes around we should start meeting up on a regular basis so I can bring you more kinds of fruit to try. For now though," he turned away and started off into the woods, "I'll see you when the sun sets!"

Lady Aria Starstone "Oh that would be wonderful!" He splashed a little in excitement then nodded. "See you soon!" And dove down, heading for the open waters again. He got to the stand of kelp and spent a few minutes picking a branch that looked tasty but not unweildy, before biting it carefully off. He then began a slower swim back towards land, making sure not to get tangled up or have it stolen by a passing seal.

It took Ilum some hours to gather together any sort of respectable offering for the little seathi, but true to his word he returned when the sun was setting carrying a small bundle of fruit.
The smaller pony wasn't immediately visible when he returned so he set the bundle down at the water's edge and leaned forward a little to look in.
"Hey, are you back yet? I found some fruit!"

"Just what is he doing?" Kaiko found herself wondering out loud. It was rare to see any of her plant feeding sea dwellers do anything but eat the kelp right where they'd found it. There was no good reason to drag it up to the surface. "Feeding a gull?" she pondered to herself as she started slowly swimming up behind him. Birds most often frequented the shore. They only went further out to die.
She twisted about in the water, spinning to keep herself slowed down and watching him as she swam. The little fellow would never be able to go quite as fast as she could, and so this was a fair way to stay behind him. If he turned around she'd see her for sure. Her pelt was flashy and made it impossible to hide in most aquatic environments.

Lady Aria Starstone Kaimana was pretty focused as he moved towards the land. He was almost late, he didn't want to actually BE late! However, he misjudged the distance between 2 rocks and it dislodged his grip on the kelp branch. "No! Blast!" He yelped, and turned back, diving down to pick it back up. Once he'd grabbed it, he started to head back up, but was rather thoroughly stopped by the sight of the pink and gold colored mare.
