Prisca! Prisca. Prisca? The name bounded about Xero's mind like a free range gazell. Why was he not surprised by the answer? It was as if he had already known that was what she was going to say. As for why? That was as mysterious as his inner desire to do what she said. It was conflicting with his current concious being.

Before long he noticed that she had moved away with the gentle chime of the locket making slight contact with his horn. Azure eyes focused away from the trinket to lock with her own purple gaze.

"my gentleman". Her words, unknowingly to himself, cause him to 'puff' with pride. Head raised while fur bristled proudly. Though, the bewildered look deep within his eyes betrayed his stance.

It wasn't until another moment he realized he had been oogling and she had moved her locket away. With as much stubborness as he could grasp Xero moved his head closer in another attempt to hook his center horn on the ray of familiarity that was that locket.

<"It is what I can offer in the ways of 'who I am' Miss Prisca Barone."> Xero replied with another step. He than went on to inquire as if introductions had been properly done. <"Where did you obtain that binding on your arm? How could you have possibly obtained my fur?">

The mare resisted the urge to back up, again, when the stallion moved into her comfort zone once more. Did he have a problem with personal space or something? Not that she seemed to mind all that much. It was the fact she didn't making her uncomfortable that had her backing up the first time. And had her wishing to this time. Part of her even wanted to run, get somewhere quiet where she could attempt to make sense of this. With every sound of his voice the headache brewing slowly only got worse.

And now he was staring at her. The entire time she had been battling with her instincts to run he had been staring at her. Or was it the locket? He did seem to have an obsession with the golden trinket. She guessed she could understand that. It was pretty, catching the light from the sun as it did. If she knew why the thing was so important to keep so close to her face she would have told him just to get him to move away. As it was, it was something that had fallen with her. She had found it beside her head, inches from her horn with the chord still wrapped around the tip. It didn't seem to have a way of opening it and, judging by how heavy it was, it wasn't hollow. If there was something inside, she hadn't found a way of retrieving it minus breaking it.

"I must answer more questions before you'll give me any bit of information?" she said softly and irritably, not bothering to keep her annoyance to herself. Her eyes narrowed slightly in suspicion, unsure about his need to keep himself secret while she had at least supplied her name. "Would you believe I'm a warrior and it's my trophy for defeating you?"

<"And what other bit of information would you want? You have only asked one question of me, and I have answered that."> Xero replied coolly.

Prisca's next statement caused Xero's focus to once again shift from the locket. Eyes carefully glared deep into her's. With how close they were he could easily see his own reflection upon the crystal-like surface. No, he had little respect for personal boundaries. Perhaps that was forgotten along with his memories.
Or perhaps subconsciously he did not feel the need to have such a barrier with this mare.

<"No."> He answered just as coolly as before, this time with an added snort.

A warrior? One who bested her in battle? She hardly looked or smelled like a great warrior. Xero's pride would not allow him to even entertain that thought.

This time Xero held his gaze on Prisca, eyes looking past his reflection, and what could feel to be her very soul. His horn was gingerly in contact with the locket's chain allowing him to countinue to be aware of its comforts. Or, perhaps, it was more an excuse to remain so close to this mare. The wild storm of his mind was stilled, for once in what seemed ages, it was still.

Prisca shifted uncomfortably on her feet, but never broke eye contact with him. She wouldn't give him that satisfaction of having her look away first. To show weakness. She didn't want to show weakness. She never wanted to show weakness, to anyone. She wasn't strong like a warrior, but she was cunning like a strategist. Not that everyone gave her that credit.

"And now you are demanding more, yet not offering more of yourself like you say," Prisca corrected, eyes narrowing. It was difficult to see herself in his eyes. She wasn't sure if it was his eyes or the glint of her locket that she was seeing shining in there. Such strange eyes. Monstrous, even. It didn't scare her. Which was nothing strange. She didn't like to let things frighten her. "I am sorry to say the answer to those questions are not currently within my ability. I would also like to know."

The mare snorted back, determined to match him action for action. Since he clearly had no sense of humor.

Xero's eyes were dark, unreflective, and mysterious as a black hole. However, Prisca's eyes were a window to something Xero strangely found comfort in. He looked past his dark form and into her 'soul', her beautiful soul. Prisca's intelligence was plain to see in her calculating eyes. She wasn't going to let up. There was no fear to be found within her gem-like eyes. It was increasingly hard to remain angry the more he remained lost in her gaze. Unbenounced to him, his posture and relaxed and eyes had even softened. The azure glow had taken on a different flicker as if to reflect the overcoming calm.

But his mind was stubborn. Just as she would not let up or back away, he would not give the satisfaction.

<"Than perhaps we suffer the same mental block my Dear."> A toothy grin formed on his lips.

His head tilted just slightly so his horn now rest against her's. In his mind he was gaining the upper hand in this 'battle' he couldn't even comprehend.

<"But if it would allow me to demand more, perhaps I shall 'offer more of myself' as you request.">

Wait... what?
PostPosted: Thu Feb 20, 2014 5:37 pm

Mental block?

Prisca blinked steadily under the stallion's gaze, making an effort not to appear anything but calm. Not that she was feeling anything but calm, of course. What did she have to fear from this one? Most he'd done was display his strengths and show her he had no sense of humor. Despite how close he was and how easily it was to count his sharp teeth, she was not worried. It worried her more that she wasn't worried than having him in her personal space. For some reason, she felt her own mind go calmer. Her eyelids were drooping like she was trying to make an inviting expression. For what, she could take a guess at. And that enraged her all the more. Like some fog had settled over her where someone unseen was controlling her actions. But she couldn't find them to cut the strings.

Very softly, she opened her mouth to speak.

'You cannot remember who you are, either?"

But before he could have a chance to respond, her eyes widened and her voice rose.

"I should hope that is not a sign that you are some kind of pervert."

Yet her hooves remained rooted to the ground and she didn't back away. Or even look away.

<"'Either'?"> Xero repeated.

So, she had lost her memory as well? That was odd to say the least. Running into another star with the same problem and items linking one to the other. The real question was what that link was. Good or bad? Inwardly he felt 'good'. Something seemed right about this mare. His only flaw now was his stubboness to reliquish his irritation at being unable to recall anything.

<"I only stated that I could offer more of myself, you were the one to insert a perverted meaning to it, Ms. Prisca..."> The response cane without emotion in his tone once again. It was as close to humorous as he got.

Like Prisca he remained rooted and unmoving. He had noted that her eyes relaxed before his statement had sunken in... what he didn't realize was his own eyes had mirrored her's in relaxing than widening. His claws had even ceased gripping the ground... still, he was too stubborn to admit relaxing even a little. Not while he thought he could win whatever they were doing.

Prisca had begun to smile as he spoke more. Not out of friendliness or happiness. Like this whole time she had been teasing him. It was a smile of amusement. One that she had not realized she was making.

At the sound of her name, her heart quickened and her cheeks felt warm. She shook her head, making the long, thin braid dance against her smooth neck while the hair on the other side shimmered like molten silver. That could mean many things! One's heart jumped at the sight of enemies just as it did friends. That did not mean there was anything between her and this strange stallion.

Who had not even given his name yet.

The white mare snorted at her thoughts and stomped a hoof softly, as if she was trying to be mad at someone she just couldn't bare to yell at.

"Forgive me for thinking the worst. One tends to when one meets someone they don't know." Or shouldn't know was the unspoken third sentence.

Standing up straighter, Prisca raised her chin, feet close together in an arrogant posture to show him she still had no fear of him. The affect would be much better done on someone who didn't come up to his withers.

"So offer more of yourself."

<"Of course. I cannot place any blame on you for thinking in such a manner. Perhaps I was guilty of following along with such a thought."> Xero still spoke without much emotion, however, his expression was beginning to crack a grin. One to mirror her own smile, daring her to continue this teasing.

Why not just kill her now? That would be such a shame. Xero wouldn't admit it now, but this was rather an exciting exchange. He liked that she held no fear. Usually he had enjoyed such an emotion... but now, with her, he seemed to be admiring such bravery. Or perhaps it was stupidity? No, she displayed knowledge of being in no danger. She wasn't. he wasn't going to hurt her.

<"Unfortunately, my dear, I can remember little of who I am and cannot offer intellectual incite on that matter.">

It was on. This now was a completely different game. His frame leaned closer to her's, his head lowered a bit so his face was within an inch of her's, being mindful of his horns.

<"Unless... you are not as pure as your appearance suggests, my dear.">

As Prisca had merely taken her eyes off him, the ghost of his smile was not lost on her. In fact, it made hers all the stronger. As if she had known him forever and this was a little game she enjoyed greatly. Now that she thought about it, it did feel like she had known him forever. But in what way, she could not remember. It didn't seem to matter right now. All that was on her mind was his smile. To make it come out fuller.

Hers, for a moment, slipped. One corner of her mouth streaked back up and words tumbled out before she could stop them.

"Not pure? Why should you say such a foul thing of me?" Lowering her head slightly, the mare flicked her tail gently, causing only a ripple to run through it as it was too long and heavy to rise from the ground easily.

"I only stated 'unless'. There was no statement of your moral character in my words. Once again, you have jumped to conclusions." Xero teased in a soft toned manner.

His head lifted up and away from the mare's as she moved. It was odd to have forgotten the original frustration of this encounter. By now his mind was filled with new opinions of this meeting and working to sort out why this woman was so familiar.

Xero caught a glance of the slight tail movement from the other mare, or rather the waterfall like appearance of the silver fur catching any light reflected upon it. His own wrapped tails seemed dull in comparison.

"So what now, My dear?" The increase in the use of those words had yet to be caught by him. "Neither of us seem capable of answering any questions... I have lost my desire to treat you as pray and I can only assume you are tired of making assumptions about yourself."

Prisca smiled despite herself at the tone of his teasing voice. She took a step forward as if in instinct of some past action before stopping herself and taking two steps back. Doubting the action had gone unnoticed, she turned her head to the side, staring at him with one purple eye that no longer held any emotions of annoyance. It was calm, if not a bit sad. The smile slipped from her lips.

"I would suggest we go our own ways, but we seem incapable of even doing that." Turning away completely, the mare paced, agitated more at her unwillingness to leave than her inability to remember why she did not want to. The locket bobbed against the side of her face, an ever constant presence. "Is magic alive in this world? If I knew who to seek, I would request an audience." It was unclear if she was speaking to him or out loud to herself. Seconds after the last word was uttered, she turned back to him, stepping closer so her muzzle was a foot away as she raised it to his level. "What do you think? What do you feel?"
