He stared at her, torn between his heart and his duty to oversee the market. He looked away, and then back at her to meet her eyes. He seemed tortured. He didn't have an answer, not yet, so he looked at the ground. He couldn't have her go alone. He wouldn't. Yet, there was something more than the market tugging him away: fear. Am I chasing in circles? He looked at her again. How small she seemed; how delicately small - he wanted to protect her more than anything. His expression softened into a smile as his doubts were brushed into silence.
"We'll need mounts. The tracks won't disappear any time soon, I promise, and we'll catch up with them soon enough." He offered his hand. "Let's buckle up for the journey, first. I have some savings we can use if we were to stop along the way."

Artemis felt guilty for begging him to.come. she soon regret saying the words that came from her lips. She knew he had the market to loom after but her heart did a summersault when he said yes. Well not yes directly, but he was still on bored. Artemis nodded, "I have savings as well so you don't need to worry about using yours. We need to hurry I don't know how long they been here. For all I know they could have been here a few days ago or maybe yesterday. We cannot lose them or else the fate of our world will be in great danger and everything we hold dear will be cover in blood and death." Artemis grabbed his hand waiting for him to make the next move.

I have savings as well so you don't need to worry about using yours... "I insist," he offered a handsome smile.
His eyes widened at the prediction and his pupils dilated, slightly, with adrenaline. When she took his hand, he sped off at full speed. They were an equal match on foot, for he was fit from dancing and she was trained to hunt. Once they reached the river and the outskirts of their camp, he stopped her, holding her gently to a tree. He placed his forefinger in front of his lips to signal her to be quiet, still holding her hand with the other. He glanced around. The two women who had done laundry and surveiling Lavender when he left them, were not there. He stepped out of their hiding place and looked around for them.

"There you are, my dear." It was Martha. Ryan squeezed Artemis's hand, briefly startled. "Who's this?" She looked at Artemis for a fleeting moment and then burst out in tears. "Oh, Ryan! She's run away. Our own Lavender haas disobeyed and ran away! It's horrible! A true tragedy," she continued to ramble on until Ryan let go of Artemis and embraced the old woman in attempt to comfort her. It worked somewhat.
"Where had she gone?"
"We aren't sure. Rose is about alooking, nearby, but she took Kinja!" Her tears renewed. He stared down at her and held her by her shoulders.
"We'll find them. I saw some tracks upstream. Fetch Rose and have her rest. The excitement can't be good for the baby." Martha nodded at his suggestions. His act of taking authority when they were lost soothed her tired soul. "Martha, be at your peace. Artemis and I will find them," he assured her with finality. She nodded, smiled at them with gratitude and sympathy, and left to find the pregnant dame.

"Would you mind sharing a horse?" he turned to Artemis, meeting her eyes. His playful mannerisms had dissolved into controlled urgency. "There are a few sacks of apples in the trees a while into the forest." Whenever the As'ardens came to visit, Martha and her husband set these out, hidden somewhat from those not looking out for them, to welcome them and to show them the way. Each sack contained aproximately ten or twenty apples and were occasioned with berries and nectarines. "Would you please grab a sack and I'll meet you here?"

Artemis kept up with him with no problem but as soon as she stopped and stayed in the spot Ryan placed her. Her mind started to wonder and shatter as she started to shake. Her vision was correct alright and that is what bothers her. It frighten her all the same that now it was up to her and Ryan to save the realm they live in and keep the peace or else the world they know will be destroyed. Artemis gave a gentle smile to Martha but shot a look of discomfort towards Ryan but was satisfied that he didn't see it. Artemis then turned and walked along the trees as she ran her hand over them. She soon stop with a halt as she found the tree she was looking for and stood on tiped-toe to pull the sac of apples and other fruits down.

When Artemis returned to where they agreed upon meeting, Ryan was waiting for her with one of As'arden's largest horses: it was a frightening, muscled creature with thick black hair, a long mane and heavily feathered hooves. His name was Thunder, and he was Ryan's personal mount. Ryan was no longer dressed in his entertainer's clothes, but in a simple jean and buttoned shirt with the sleeves rolled up. Strapped onto the double saddle was something of everything they might need while still enabling them to travel light. "We're going to take a shortcut through the forest. We should catch up with them within a day and a half at the most - given that we don't stop." He took the sack of apples from her and hauled it over his shoulder. "I've packed in a cloak for you in case you get cold." He smiled crookedly at her and picked her up, helping her onto the horse. Then, he mounted it behind her, holding the reigns and creating a kind of haven for her with his arms. He did this to ensure that she wouldn't fall off by accident - it was a long way down. "Are you ready?" he asked, his chest rumbling and warm against her back.

Artemis wanted to glare at him for even suggesting that they share a horse. She was a warrior not a damsel in distress. She had her own horse but that would take up to much time and wherever the girls are at with the book, they could forever be lost. Artemis didn't even have a choice about it as she stiffed a little when he grabbed the reins. "We need to hurry or else we willose the trail." She camly said as she was bracing herself for this journey.

"I'm sorry," Ryan said, having noted her discomfort. "Thunder takes a while to warm up to people. I'll let you steer him or sit where you want later. Or we can buy a horse on the way." His voice was cold - a sudden change, but his aura, as a minstrel, did not falter from its usual pleasant allure. He set them off into a frightening gallop. The horse seemed literally like a thunder storm beneath them: its muscles bulged and released, driving its hooves into the ground as though to cause minor earthquakes and its temperament was so aggressive as though it would bring down the heavens with it. "He was an inherited gift to Oonagh," Ryan attempted at light conversation. "And fought alongside our ancestors thousands of years ago in the battle against Faerang, which is weird for a horse, but he seemed to have taken a fancy to me, so I was given him as a personal mount. Ever since then, he's been rather possessive." Ryan laughed, but sobered to add in a whisper that she should try to gain Thunder's trust else he might n** at her when Ryan's not looking.

((There's a surprise here, but you'll have to wait until they reach Aveze! wink ))

Artemis wasn't really listening to him. The only thing she heard was to get his horse approval. She had to smile at that as this horse was a majestic beast as its hooves echoed the sound of thunder in the air. Artemis relaxes against Ryan. "There is no time to lose. I'm afraid the longer we wait the farther the girls will be. Whoever took them must know about the book." Artemis smiled as she felt the beast muscles from under her as he did his beast to catch up. "We need to proceed with cautious we have no idea what we are up against."
