Just as she had predicted, it was a bright and sunny day as Mila descended down the path of route one. There were a multitude of grass types out and about to soak in the rays, equal parts new and familiar to the new trainer. Although entirely home-schooled, Mila liked to think that she was more or less as knowledgeable as any other girl her age. When it came to Pokémon, however, she was mostly familiar with the species native to her home region. Even then, she'd rarely left Lumiose City except for special occasions, leaving her with little opportunity to see new species.

Luckily for Mila, Taxi was just fine carrying his trainer along the path while she took photos and scanned Pokémon with her new Pokédex. The little device was pretty easy to use, which made sense when Mila remembered that most trainers began catching and raising Pokémon as kids. She couldn't have imagined doing the same herself. It would have been one thing if she had been accompanied or financed by a parent, but as an orphan Mila had been forced to rely almost entirely on her local orphanage just to stay clothed and fed. The thought of taking off on an adventure at that age with no money or protection was terrifying.

Even now that she was an adult, Mila had felt pretty uneasy just making the trip to Kimchi. She was starting to come around, though. Blume Town had been a lovely place filled with kind people, and this connecting route was quiet and peaceful as well. Things were sure to be more hectic as she reached the more populated areas of King Town and Nix City, but she should be fine as long as she had her team with her. Speaking of...

"Pull over for a sec, Taxi." She told the young Skiddo, who gently came to a halt. "I spy with my little eye something yummy~"

Releasing Twig and Hat from their Pokéballs, Mila guided her team over to a small grove of berry trees. It must have been the same one she'd heard the people talking about back at the Pokémon Center, because they were loaded with tons of ripened berries. After filling up her berry pouch for later, Mila and the gang took a break in the shade as they all chowed down on the sweet fruits. The Pecha berries were Mila's favorite by far, and as she cleaned off her and her Pokémon's faces, she was already thinking about how good it would be to boil them down into a jam to spread over fresh bread or crepes.

"Well. Now that we've had our snack, let's keep going." She told the trio as she dusted off her pants. Normally the girl hated walking and any other kinds of physical activity, but she could hear the orphanage director's voice in her head telling her that a little exercise was good after having all that sugar. Hopefully that responsible mindset would last until they made their way to King Town.
