"Oh?" he mused. Perhaps the little librarian could be of use, after all, if she felt confident enough to suggest these books just like that. Of course, that was why he had come here, out of all the places he could have gone. This little library had come highly recommended to him - not only for the selection, but for the quality of service.

Not that he would ever admit as much aloud, of course.

"And what might those be?"

...Thomas would not like Nori, I think. It would be...very volatile, to say the least. XD

Having attention on her for a change made Tessa feel a little nervous, but she held her own, still thoughtful about the books. It was a little surprising to have the noble seem interested in her suggestions, even though she had not named the titles. Part of her wondered if he'd feel the same afterwards? He was not the first person to have come lurking about, seeking a way to fight... wolves. But he was the most intent on actually finding their weakness.

"Into The Night, a very old autobiography written by Lewis Smalton. And... " She hesitated on the second one. "Wolfsbane." An old collection of children's books of scary tales from the Wood. "I-I know it is not first thought of, my lord, but a man once told me he found some of the stories rather... interesting. Though he would not say more on it."

Thomas frowned. A librarian's secondhand hearsay from a recalcitrant stranger was not exactly the kind of lead he had been hoping for. He regarded her from beneath hooded eyes. "Interesting could mean a great many things, Miss Malthodar. What makes you so certain that these particular books hold anything of value to my research?"

An autobiography was one thing, but children's tales were something else. Still, even he could admit that some old traditions which were regarded as little more than meaningless rhymes now actually held reminders from the past. Often morbid reminders. It was an unorthodox method of research, to be sure, but he could not discredit it entirely. He could, however, question the worth of this particular collection and the resourcefulness of this librarian.

Perhaps for the first time since encountering this man, Tessa found herself not cowering, and crossing her arms to regard him with a calm sort of presence about her. Books she knew. People she may not understand, but text she did. "They are, as I'm certain you are familiar with, some controversial titles. Many have claimed that the tales written in Wolfsbane are not suitable for children. Yet others want such tales to exist to scare us and keep us from exploring the Woods. Why do you think someone would want to scare us from the Wood? Are they hiding something there?" She asked, clearly having thought about this before. "I have personally read them, my lord, and even I will admit... there are a few strange chapters in them."

She had managed to avoid looking him directly in the eyes, but when she glanced at him whatever vibrato she'd mustered up died and she felt herself pale a little. Dealing with people was so much more difficult then she wanted to admit!
