Normal people would say that the greatest sound in the world was a child's laughter and nothing could possibly begin to compare, but maybe that's where Buddingtonite stood out from the norm. The sound of Massalia's rising cries didn't necessarily bring the same euphoric pleasure as say, courting another in the bedroom or winning a good hand in a high stake game, but it made him grin from ear to ear. He brought Gra closer and closer, unaware of the looming danger that vastly approached him as he chided the Chibi senshi. "Congratulations, little one! You've figured it out! You've one the grand prize, and that would be a first class, one way ticket to-"

Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out and whatever mirth Buddingtonite felt was stripped from him in record timing. With the squirming crab youma still in hand, he spun around to face Ganymede, and though he wore a pleasant smile, it was nothing more than a loose mask to hide the initial fear he felt. "Annnnnnnnd the valiant, nameless guardian of all things small- what are you doing here? Didn't think you ventured to this neck of the woods! My mistake!"

In the presence of the Eternal Senshi, Gra had become ornery and Buddingtonite had to reestablish his grip to keep the youma in hand. As much as he appreciated the youma's vivaciousness in protecting his master, he couldn't risk the senshi destroying him, and he held the gurgling youma close to his chest, to protect Gra and himself as he addressed Ganymede. In lieu of her obvious disappointment, he gave a scoff, taking a step to the right and silently taking in his surroundings to look for an escape route, as he said, "Oh, don't say that… it makes you sound like an old codger and gives me the impression that you're something worth seeking approval from. You're not my mother…"

He could teleport to one of the buildings and flee on foot. That was certainly a possibility, and the thought of using Massalia as a hostage crossed his mind, but memories of their last encounter told him it wasn't a worthy endeavor. So, escape was the only option here, because like hell he'd fight someone with that kind of magic on his own…

"You? Expected a Negaverse officer to keep their word with an enemy? You're delusional, old nanny. It would be like me expecting someone like you and your kind to leave this city in peace, or in the very least not enlist children too stupid to know better," Buddingtonite said, taking another step to the right and actually leaving a clear path to Massalia for Ganymede, should she chose to approach the chibi. "Honestly, if you want to get angry at anyone, get angry at the furry recruiter that enlists children and then doesn't even bother to warn them of the true dangers they're in, because would you believe that this little runt had no idea who or what I was? He's lucky all I wanted to do was terrify him and teach him a valuable lesson… had I been another general, he'd be dead. So… in all honesty, I think you both owe me a bit of gratitude, don't you think?"

Massalia hiccoughed, shrinking back from Buddingtonite and Gra in fear -- especially Gra, brown eyes locked on the youma when the Eternal Senshi seemed to come from nowhere, and the Chibi whimpered immediately in fear, letting the adyults talk a moment before pointing at Gra - directly at Gra - and hiccuped, still crying and trying to communicate to the new adult - a Senshi maybe? He thought she might be based on her attire - and shook his head.

"He wanted to feed me to his yucky monster!"

HE DID. He was waving it AROUND and why else would he mention letting him get eated?!

THIS CAPTAIN WAS A MEAN ADULT.

"He..." Massalia whimpered. "He said it would eat me and... He's mean!"

“If I owed you anything I'd think it'd be a little reminder as to why you should be leaving the littler ones alone,” Ganymede said, lifting on her hands as if she meant to examine her nails. Gloved as they were, this might have seemed like an empty gesture had she not begun to wiggle and flex her fingers like she meant to pull magic out of thin air.

The cries and whimpers from the smaller Senshi drew Ganymede closer to the pair, and she took a few steps away from the lamp-post, though as if yet she did not rush in. She was worried, of course, but she thought it right to give Buddingtonite the opportunity to back away on his own. She'd give him a chance to do the right thing, and if he didn't take it, well... she'd get to work issuing that reminder.

“Unfortunately there's a lot of mean adults out there, kid,” she said with some sympathy. “You've got to learn to tell the bad from the good. This one here'll hurt you if you give him the chance, and I wouldn't expect much more from a lot of his friends. He's got a bad feeling to him, doesn't he? Concentrate a bit and you can feel his aura. That's the sort you usually want to avoid.

“And if a cat didn't tell him that,” Ganymede continued, swinging her gaze back to Buddingtonite and narrowing her eyes as her arms crossed themselves over her chest, “it's not his fault he's uninformed. Go bother a cat if it gets your panties in a wad. Lord knows they're not all on top of the game. I expect it takes a bit of trial and error. Either way, I'm sure your superiors have more important things for you to be doing than harassing a kid, so why don't you run along and get back to being Chaos's little lap dog.”

Waving one of her hands in a dismissive gesture, Ganymede took another step or two forward. “Unless you'd rather I help you along. That can be arranged.”

Buddingtonite flashed the chibi senshi such a look and if he had the ability to set someone on fire with just a stare alone, then Massalia would have certainly ignited in a blaze of screeching glory at that very moment. Between the now crying child and the squirming youma that drooled in his arms, it was becoming increasingly difficult to keep what he hoped to be a brave front forward, flashing Ganymede a smile as he stepped away from both him and the chibi senshi he was once terrorizing. "Oh, I was only toying with you, that's all! Now, now, dry up those tears… crying is hardly the emotion for a proud senshi, tiny as you may be! Look, I'll even send Gra back!"

And he did so quickly. It wasn't just to appease the child but to keep his youma safe, knowing all too well just how painful it would have been if the Eternal Senshi had managed to destroy his youma. He cringed just thinking about it, and within seconds, the thrashing youma had disappeared back into the Rift with a howling gurgling, protesting its departure but unable to ignore its master's bidding. That left Buddingtonite defenseless against two Senshi, but he had no intention of invoking either of their wraths this evening.

He turned to Ganymede, taking in her insults and wanting to fume at the very idea of her practically lording over him, but he knew better than to even think of acting against her, not so long as she had that magic at her disposal. Though he wasn't willing to lash out against her, he couldn't help but let out a snide comment, spatting at the thought of the blotched job the White Moon's recruiter did for this one. "Trial and error for any regular job is one thing, but trial and error when there are lives involved? Hardly a laughing matter. Don't worry- the next cat I see from your pisspoor recruiting department is certainly going to get a piece of my mind, assuming you're not going to turn overly protective of them too. This is just unforgivable! Recruiting children and then not even telling him that they are just as expendable as the rest…"

Because Ganymede was right. If he thought he could get away with it, he would have likely walked home with a pint-sized starseed in his hand. Now he looked to Massalia, not reaching for him but snapping his fingers to make sure he got his attention, as he addressed him like a teacher would a student, completely ignoring the fact that he was threatening his life just moments ago. "Now, let this be a lesson to you. I was at least willing to give you a chance to allow help to come, but other of my colleagues would have taken your head, if you're lucky. If you know what's best for you, I'd recommend either staying away from the likes of us… or simply not powering up at all."

Then, he looked to Ganymede and flashed him a smile, though there was no mirth or warmth behind it, and he was certain that she'd catch it. "No, no, that will not be necessary, as I can see myself out. But just remember, I'm likely going to have to make up for the lost revenue and starseed I failed to collect because of this little one, so I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Don't worry- I'll make sure they're of an appropriate age, if it should please you. Good night."

And he turned around, only allowing his angered sneer take over his facial features as he turned his back to the both of them and teleported away. One day, he would be of equal rank with that damned senshi and he would overcome this phobia he obtained of her and her magic… and the day he did, he'd cherish her starseed so. Until then, what else could he do by retreat like the dog she implied him to be?

That was fun, we'll have to do it again sometime, preferably without a risk of dying again. smile

Sunshine Alouette
I think Gany's developed a follower. Oops.

If Massalia could be set on fire by the look, he was glad it didn't work, but it was a look the Chibi knew well enough. His look was similar dealing with his older brother, and the meaning was not unmissed. And Massalia knew if he'd ever met the Agent at his age on equal terms... Shins would be kicked by little soccker legs. However, Massalia settled to looking to the older, far more experienced Senshi, taking in Ganymede's words. Aura..?

He'd never noticed before, but now he seemed to be listening to what Ganymede said. And blinked. It was strange, feeling another's aura, but what he felt eas terrifying, even with Gra gone - though the youma's departure seemed to soothe. Massalia sniffled, rubbing his eyes, nodding to Ganymede. Buddingtonite being civil and snapping his fingers earned the Chibi's focus again, though he was wary just the same, wanting to cling to Gany's leg. However, he did not, instead blinking and tilting his head.

He desperate wanted to say Buddy didn't seem inclined to wait, but was surprisingly polite. If Buddy was going to behave, so was Massalia. He nodded-- but made no indication of not planning to power up. He knew at least one other Chibi in need of his company and he was immediately planning to warn her promptly. Subra being hurt simply wouldn't do, and the Chibi Senshi watched Buddingtonite leave quietly before turning brown eyes back up to Ganymede, promptly melting into gratitude.

"Thank you." He said quietly. "He was... Scary."

Ganymede grew silent as Buddingtonite dismissed his youma and prepared to take his leave, her brow raised in an expectant fashion as he spoke with the boy Senshi and proceeded to expel further bitterness toward a group of unfortunate felines currently unable to defend their honor. It was a bitterness Ganymede often shared, given her poor experiences following her awakening and the general unpreparedness with which she'd faced them, but she was in no mood to commiserate and continued to level Buddingtonite with a look full of warning.

His threats against the remainder of Destiny City's populace did not go unnoticed, but as she currently had the responsibility of seeing that this Chibi Senshi got safely on his way, Ganymede felt compelled to stay right where she was rather than make any attempts to track Buddingtonite to his next prey and further spoil his efforts. With any luck he'd suffer a case of bad karma and return to his superiors empty handed.

Ganymede responded to the Captain's farewell with a derisive sniff. Threat temporarily abated, she returned her attention instead to the Chibi Senshi. Her expression softened, grew sympathetic and friendly, and she approached him with a more lighthearted air than she'd faced Buddingtonite with.

“He probably does seem pretty scary to you now, but one day you'll see him for what he really is, just a really unfortunate guy who probably thinks a bit too highly of himself and got himself too far involved with Chaos to really care about the differences between right and wrong anymore,” she said. She held out her hand to the boy for a quick shake.

“I'm Ganymede,” she introduced herself. “A Senshi like you. You should be able to tell from my aura, too. Feels a little more friendly, doesn't it?”

NovaCracker
Awww, Gany doesn't mind! She's turned out to be surprisingly decent with kids! :3

Heeelp these two need more RP sometime.

Massalia looked up to Ganymede once addressed and took her hand shyly, smiling just a bit at her.

"My name is Massalia." He said, voice shaking just a little, the boy smiling weakly. "It does.. Can every senshi feel these?"

He asked. He... Really knew nothing more than powering up and maybe kicking things, and the Chibi Senshi wanted to be absolutely sure he knew more from now on. He needed to...

He didn't want to get hurt. Or see Subra hurt...

That... That thought scared the eleven year old more than he wanted to admit.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 05, 2014 3:10 pm

“As far as I know, every Senshi can pick up on the auras, yeah,” Ganymede said.

She shook Massalia's hand gently before releasing it, and stood before him in a manner she hoped came off as respectful enough while still taking into account his young age. She could give comfort when it was needed, but she wasn't the sort to stoop down to a kid's eye level and talk in sugary sweet tones when she was fairly sure they were just as capable of understanding her normal tone as most adults. Then again, most experiences she had with kids came in the form of her one-year-old sister who didn't even talk yet and her precocious thirteen-year-old brother-in-law.

“With some practice you'll be able to sense things like that from a distance. Not too far, but enough to where you should be able to figure out what areas of town to avoid if you don't want to run into anybody like that guy,” she said, jerking a thumb in the direction where Buddingtonite had disappeared. “Each group feels different, and each aura gets stronger according to power level. So I probably feel stronger than Buddy did, but in a nice way. A Negaverse General's going to feel like him, only more powerful, and a Lieutenant'll feel less powerful. It gets easier to pick up on these sorts of things the more you feel them.”

All the plotting!

Massalia nodded, listening intensely. While he didn't know what to expect yet, the small senshi appreciated not being coddled, and the eleven year old remained focused on Ganymede.

"Are... There others my age? Besides me an' Subra?"

Who he swore he was warning.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 05, 2014 3:26 pm

“Most of us are a little older, teenagers usually, but there are enough of others your age to be noticed,” Ganymede reassured him. “I don't know Subra, but I've met maybe four or five others. There's an Oberon who's around your age. Kind of a cocky kid. Asks a lot of questions. His outfit looks kinda like a boyscout uniform. Then there are a few girls I've seen before, two whose names I can't remember, but one of them has light purple hair and wears yellow, and the other has orange hair and wears a lot of pink. Then the third girl... I think her name is Hypnos. Wear's an outfit that looks like a nightgown.”

Ganymede paused a moment too look back through her memories of the last three years, but no other Chibis immediately came to mind. Still, four was a start, and she thought even that many might prove reassuring to Massalia.

“I can see about introducing you to Oberon sometime if you want,” she offered. “He's family, so I know him personally.”

Massalia looked thoughtful several moments, taking in her words before nodding, positively.

"I'd like that, please, thank you." Massalia smiled a bit.

Girls? So many girls already. Were there many boys? Well, that was one to look out for....

Hopefully they didn't turn into girls.

With the dexterity that came from experience, Ganymede lifted a hand to summon her Senshi phone from sub-space. “No problem,” she said, and aimed the phone at Massalia to scan him into her contacts.

“You know how to use this, right?” she asked, curious. “The cats are usually pretty good about this sort of thing whether or not they end up covering everything at once. I've just scanned you into my phone so I can call or send you a text. Next time I see Oberon I'll give him a head's up and we'll try to work something out for you guys to meet. You can put me in your phone, too, if you want. It's probably good to have as many contacts as you can, just in case you ever need help.”

She said this in such a way that she hoped would relieve him or cheer him. Ganymede didn't like to see kids involved in the war if it could be helped, but if they ended up being a part of it then she thought they had a right to try to fight and prove themselves.

Still, a little help never hurt.

Massalia's eyes went big at the phone, the Chibi pulling his out. It was the one thing he did had, and he blinked, holding it up.

"Like this?" He asked timidly. "Horatio didn't tell me much..."

They'd kind of gotten distracted by seeing Coyotes. And fleeing security.

So that was about as far as he got in orientation, and the Chibi was still so eager to understand.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 05, 2014 5:38 pm

“Yup, just like that,” Ganymede said. “Just aim like you're taking a picture.”

She demonstrated again with her phone just to be sure he had the hang of it, but once he did Ganymede sent her phone back to the little pocket of subspace from whence it came.

“Horatio, huh?” she wondered. The name was notably familiar, and the image of a small, goggle-eyed cat immediately came to mind. “Well, sometimes circumstances get in the way of proper Senshi education. But this phone can do you tons of good. If you hold down the big center button and concentrate on your moon or star or asteroid, or whatever Massalia is, it'll take you there. And the cats make phone charms that can take you to the moon every time it's full. There's also a GPS on there that lets you scan for power signatures in the area, so that's another way to figure out where the friendly ones are.

“Other than that,” she continued, propping her hands onto her hips as she continued to bestow upon Massalia a friendly smile, “everything else you kinda learn from experience. There's the good guys, that's us and the knights. And the bad guys, the Negaverse and the Dark Mirror Senshi. Some of 'em are nice enough, some of 'em are just kinda stupid, some of 'em didn't know any better and made a mistake by joining up with them, some of 'em were forced to be what they are, and then you've got the ones, like your pal Buddy, who just don't care and they do bad things 'cause they like to or they're told to or both. Everyone's different, but the more people you meet the more you'll learn what those differences are, and you'll learn how to deal with them.”

"Okay." Very cautiously, Massalia listened, blinking slowly again.

Oh, he had..

Wooow. This was a lot-- the Chibi nodded, trying to commit as much as possible to memory as he could, brown eyes remaining focused on Ganymede, wide and curious.

"Okay!"
