"I'm fine..." though Raemos was sure he wouldn't be fine in the near future. He was, for now, mostly uninjured. He ran for the the tree that Mae was in- wanting to stick close by, slight and short lived Bravado and desperation causing him to slash at a dragon's questing claw with his vastly inferior sword. His lucky strike hit a nerve, and likely saved both their lives and the tree as the dragon pulled back it's bleeding claw. Rae was used to climbing around the barn and on Kargoths- having no flight ability made it necessary- and so his climb was fairly agile and graceful. However, when he found a branch just above Maeron to perch on, he found it hard to breathe, his brain freezing for a moment. Three? Three of them? One had been bad. Two had been bad. Three was overkill. He was going to die out here. Had he told his mother that he loved her? He had, but suddenly it felt like he should have said it a thousand times more. She would be so upset... she wouldn't have anybody to tell stories to, or cook with, or explore with... Thoughts of the ruins he would never visit with his mother, brought back memories of their expedition, and suddenly, an idea came to mind, startling the already tense oblivionite to the point where he almost fell of his branch. His Tome! He took the heavy book out of his bag and flipped through it. His tome would allow him to cast a spell- he wasn't sure quite what, but it was a dark spell! Maybe it would help! He steadied himself on the branch and took a deep breath, hesitating a bit. He'd never used it before, and he wasn't sure if he was powerful enough to handle it. He'd heard about people who screwed up using magical items- dead or insane or worse. He wasn't sure what worse would be, and he didn't want to die. What else did he have to lose? He cleared his throat, swallowing the bitterness of adrenaline and very aware of how parched he felt. "Lafahz Gaom!" he intoned, the word of activation not long ago discovered in his studies of the tome that weighed heavily on his hands. He hoped it would work. He desperately hoped that it would. The ice was the opening Suluksati had been waiting for. The Aedaun dragon closed its eyes against the frigid blast, turning its head away and prepared to retaliate as the ice splinters stung its flesh. Suluksati flapped her powerful wings and shot forward, sinking her teeth into the soft, less-armored spot exposed between the dragon's jowl and its neck. She curled around it's neck like a deadly feather boa, digging her claws in as it shook its head vigorously. Her teeth were not long enough to piece it's spine from here, but between her teeth and claws, she had punctured some sort of major artery. The dragon flapped desperately, twirling in the air in pain before trying a desperate gambit. It flung itself towards the ground, hoping to kill its attacker with the impact and buy an opportunity to save itself with its magic and superior stamina. It clawed at her on the way down, doing more damage to itself than her. As the ground came closer, Suluksati launched off of the dragon's ruined neck, taking to the air as the great beast crashed into the ground in a tumble of white stained limbs, taking a claw to the tail for her trouble. She circled for a moment, making sure it stayed down- she didn't want a repeat of before. She saw it begin to disintegrate and flew back up to join Darke, repairing only what she needed to in order to keep in the air. She wanted to conserve her magic. As she rejoined Darke in the sky, she sensed the discordancy in his magic that was his bond. It startled her. He seemed so normal, so... non-stunted. She recovered her composure, uncertain of what to think. "Do you see the others?" she asked, searching for them. She hadn't noticed anything but the fight at hand- Sulu was not the most observant Drakein. At first Raemos thought that he said it wrong. Was it 'Laofaz golem?'? he suddenly was unsure. Then, he wondered if it would backfire- if his gambit had sealed his fate. And then, something began to happen. A thin stream of black fog began to stream out of the book, growing big by bit until it was a small cloud, headed towards where he had shouted the words of activation. It touched the Aedaun and suddenly it was not so much a cloud as the gaseous form of mud. It swirled and seemed to cling to one of the Aedaun, slowing it. Slowly, and beyond Raemos's control, it spread to coat some area of the clearing in a finer mist. "It worked!" he said, surprised, "I think?"(2726/3000)

"Sam speech" "Mae speech""Darke speech"Darke did his best not to injure the Drakein fighting alongside him as he continued to berate the dragon with frosty attacks of his own. It probably would've been fine if he simply stayed out of the way, but he had no intentions of watching the feathered girl take on the beast on her own! When the dragon finally succumbed and fell to the earth, the Aiskala sighed softly. Aedauns, huh? He'd still been a young Keindred when he and Mae ran into their first one. He hadn't been much use in that battle, but he was pleased to say he didn't feel quite as useless this time. Through the Bond, he could feel his Orderite companion's trepidation and nervousness. It seemed they weren't yet finished on the ground, either. Darke glanced downward, beating his wings to stay aloft. The thick tree-cover hid his companions down below from view, but the Aiskala wasn't particularly put-out about it. "No..." He admitted turning to look at the Drakein. "But they aren't far, and I should have no trouble locating my Mae." He told her with a confident nod before diving down and skimming along the treetops in search of his boy. Mae blinked as the fog slipped from the branch above him and wound toward the Dragons. He hated to admit that he... was not at all proficient in magic... He glanced down at his slingblade and suddenly wondered how proficient he was at even that. Yes, it had kept him alive up to this point, but he'd always had someone (besides Darke, of course) around to back him up. Even now, Mae glanced up to see the kid with his tome open, letting the magic spill free. For the first time, he tipped his head at the other, suddenly noting the strange array of bandages. Was this kid even okay enough to be doing magic? Hmph, what did that say about Mae...? He glanced back to the three dragons before him. Through the link, he could tell that Darke had defeated one, with the help of another Drakein and was now on his way to find them. The dragon nearest the fog roared pitifully, shaking its head and swatting at the black mist to help dissipate it. Mae wondered if touching it would be overtly harmful to him. But as the other two dragons rounded on the group, he pushed it from his mind, turning his attention back toward them. Rather than join the two-leggers in their tree, Sam slowly and quietly (at least as quietly as he could in this awkwardly balanced form) slipped around the three dragons. There was quite a bit of ground to cover between him and the youngsters should something go amiss, but hopefully the older boy wouldn't allow someone so young to be injured. The mist distracted the beasts enough that they didn't question Sam's shifting scent, if they could even smell him past the darkness at all. He slipped behind them and crouched against the ground. Drakeinian or not, three Aedauns was still a lot for him to take on with only the help of a few children to aid him. If he attacked recklessly, the beasts would surely turn on him and finish him before he had the chance for much else, and then who would protect those youngsters...? The mist was a good starting point, but was it enough to tip the scales and end this...? When a flash of sky-colored feathers dipped below the treeline, Sam suddenly believed that yes, it was. Darke glided by Mae's perch, not pausing in the slightest when the boy jumped from the branch and landed squarely atop him. Mae didn't even try to settle comfortably atop the Alikein's back. He simply slipped the end of the slingblade's ribbon around his own wrist as Darke dove toward the dragons at high speed. Once they were in range of the first beast beguiled by the mist, the Aiskala panned to the side, letting Mae slip from his back to twist through the air, sending his blade whipping around him like a saw. His weapon caught and stuck in the side of the dragon's neck, and Mae landed along the Aedaun's spine. With a huff, he gave the ribbon a flick, causing the blade to rip open and sever the dragon's flesh. Just to be sure the deed was done, the Orderite yanked the ribbon toward him, causing his slingblade to carve down the dragon's neck and back toward him. As the beast disintegrated, Mae hopped to the ground, leaving him standing before the last two dragons. ((3286/3000))

Fluffesu Sorry for short inconclusive post XD Muse isnt happy with me Suluksati followed the other Alkein, veering away as his... bonded... handled the dragon. She didn't think she would ever let anybody ride her like that... Just watching made her wings ache. She circled around once, to get her bearings. She saw Maeron kill the dragon, saw the slithering fog coil about the dragon's feet. And, she saw Samael. He was sneaking up? Good. She flapped once, hovering briefly just above them and let loose a screaming roar- built up from lots of practice unsuccessfully trying to convince people of her cause. It was a piercing sound, made to be distracting, and indeed one of the dragons tried to snap at her, a bite which she dodged easily. Nobody was paying attention to the Gaili. She snarled, taunting them, hoping to give Sam the opening he needed. It was nice, she decided, to fight as a group. They worked well together, it seemed. She just... wished that it didn't have to happen with dragons. If Raemos hadn't been in awe of Maeron before, he was now. That had been so amazingly awesome. The pair had been so perfectly coordinated. Was this the 'Bond' that he'd heard about? It had been so beautiful. Would he be anything like that when he was older? It was a silly thought... of course not. Still, the other boy's movements, assuredness, and badassery gave Raemos confidence. His mist was fading, but, if he remembered correctly, he could cast it again. It had worked once. "Lafahz Gaom!" he shouted again, the mist strengthening, engulfing the remaining two dragons. He blinked, inhaling sharply. He was suddenly, incredibly tired. He hadn't felt this drained since his trip to Ashen city. It was a struggle to stay upright in the tree, even. He closed the tome and scrambled down, trying not to fall though his hands longed for the easy way out of the tree. He was so tired and dizzy. Perhaps he shouldn't have cast it while he was so inexperienced. He stabilized himself against the tree, looking at the battle again. His mist seemed to cling to the dragons, weighing them down with an almost malevolent blackness. (3085/3000)

"Sam speech" "Mae speech""Darke speech"Sam couldn't help but grin as he glanced up to see Sulu drawing the dragon's attention away from him. Both of the beasts turned their attention skyward to glower and strike at the Alikein above them. And then more of the fog coiled beneath them, and Sam peeked around his targets to see the younger boy casting his magic again. If Sam was waiting for the opportune moment, then this was it! He could tell his companions were becoming weary, so there would probably not be another chance like this! He crouched, slamming both his fists into the ground and making the very earth rupture around him. The cracking and splitting spread out to the two beasts, enveloping one of them in its fold and causing it to sink nearly a foot deep into the ground. The other merely had its foot snagged, but unless it wanted a broken limb, it wouldn't be going far! Sam huffed softly. Ugh... He'd honestly never used such vast magic before as to rupture the very earth. He swayed a bit as he rose to his feet, but knew he couldn't be finished yet. The two-leggers were just kids, and Sam wasn't positive Sulu could finish two of 'em off on her own... He'd just have to continue on. Growling softly, a column of earth bolted from the ground right beneath him, shooting Sam off and straight at the dragon that was sunken down. Sam leaped off the pillar as it impaled the dragon through the chest, hopping over the creature's head and landing on the other side. It choked out a pitiful roar of defiance before finally succumbing to its demise. Darke flew by and scooped Mae up as the earth ripped apart, flying away from the dragons and danger. He landed neatly near the other two-legger, where Mae hopped from his mount and approached the boy. "You alright?" The Orderite asked, offering a hand down to the youngster. But Darke only blinked and stared at him, scooting closer to Mae's back. The bandages... they hid his appearance, but Darke still had his sense of smell. And this kid... Well, he didn't smell like any Orderite Darke had ever met! ((3653/3000))

Sulu banked as Samaels magic struck the dragons with the force of the earth, turned around, and powered forward with a series of powerful wingbeats as Samael finished one of them off with more magic. She was beyond grieving for the dragon- she just felt numb as she shot forward like a missle, folding her wings in slightly to reduce drag. The dragon saw her outstretched claws and knew her intent, but it was trapped by earth and fog, and could not move away. Like a comet of bloodsoaked white, she slammed into the dragon, scoring deep into its vulnerable neck with one of her foreclaws, shoving its head back with the force of her charge. She slashed forward with the other foreclaw, nearly decapitating it. It crumpled, it's hot blood searing her paws as it thrashed, fell, and dissappeared. The mist dissipated as the dragons met their end. Suluksati circled in for a landing, exhausted. Rae took the offered hand gratefully. "I... think so..." he said, almost shyly. The other boy had been so awesome- Raemos almost didn't feel worthy to talk to him. "I'm just..." what was he feeling like? Drained? Tired? He was so whatever he was that he forgot to finish the sentence. "That was amazing. What you did." He said, using Mae to help support himself because his legs felt like jelly. "I wish I could do something like that..."(3320/3000)

"Sam speech" "Mae speech""Darke speech"Sam met the Aedaun Alikein on the ground, smiling fondly at her. His bright green eyes were alight with the excitement from their battle. The last time he'd fought alongside Suluksati, they'd been watching after his youngster, so while it was most certainly necessary to defend him, Sam hadn't wanted to be too harsh with their adversaries... But then, of course, they hadn't been fighting dragons, either! "You were brilliant!" Sam told her with a smile as he approached. It was at about that time that he suddenly became aware of how substantially smaller than her he was while in his two-legged form. He glanced around to find Darke, only to see that it wasn't just the feral he was smaller than. He vaguely wondered if he seemed weak like this... Mae was obviously very pleased by the compliment. For all his past troubles with others, he was more likely to be admonished than praised. Darke instantly felt a swelled head coming on from his Bonded companion and tried to warn Mae of the peculiar scent from the boy, but by that time, Mae was beyond too far gone to notice the Aiskala's attempts. The Orderite grinned at the younger boy. "We trained on Eowyn for a long time." Maeron replied. "With some pretty powerful frie- ...others." He amended awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. Yeah, Sam was friendly enough, but that other girl... Erionda... Calling her a friend was still a long shot. "Eh, I'm Maeron, by the way." He introduced himself. ((3907/3000))

Fluffesu What should we do? I saw we finish this off and then separate them into their respective threads? Suluksati took a deep breath, then released it in a sigh as she finally came to a landing. She shuffled her wings to align the feathers properly and looked out at the disintegrating bodies of the dragons, the blood that they left behind, and the orbs that winked like stars among the red-stained ground. "Am I?" she said, her voice weary as she looking at their tantalizing glitter. She didn't feel particularly brilliant. Or anything at all. The fight, though she hadn't had to use many magical bursts, had still drained her. She looked to sam- she wasn't sure if she was going to thank him or what- when she realized how small he was, compared to her. Why, she could probably carry him if she wasn't so tired and, she realized, hungry. The thought snapped her out of her depression temporarily. "You were incredible yourself..." she managed, somewhere between amused at the thought, and mortified at her own amusement. Dragons had died today. Aedauns. "Oh?" said Rae, interested, "I'm from Eowyn! Where did you train?" he noticed that the drakein was wary. Of what? the dragons? It couldn't be him... "I'm Raemos." he said, moving before realizing it is nearly impossible to shake hands while being carried by the person. "I've... never seen a sword like that before." he said, suddenly nervous. Not the bad sort of nervous that he had felt around the dragons, or the neutral sort of nervousness he felt around large animals. This was more awed than that. (3573/3000)

"Sam speech" "Mae speech""Darke speech"Samael grinned at the ground as he went to retrieve the collection of orbs. There was a tiny part of him in the very far reaches of his mind that wanted to tell Sulu that he was still practicing in this form; that he was far from perfect. But as he stared at one of the gleaming jewels, he couldn't bring himself to do it. He had been pretty incredible! Why should he be shy about it? He hummed in approval as he scooped five of them together and tucked them into a pants pocket (it was incredibly strange to have someplace to store such things actually on his person). He took another group of them over to Sulu. She seemed... tired, for some reason. There'd been a lot of dragons, but they'd also had plenty of help taking them down! He spared a glance to the boys, and vaguely wondered why Mae was being so... exuberant with strange younger one. He shrugged. Speaking of youngsters... "It's been a while since you've seen my boy, eh?" He asked with a chuckle. "He's grown quite a bit... You'll have to stop by sometime." Sam invited warmly. Darke glowered at the younger boy. Weren't most hybrids from Eowyn? Obviously, trying to talk sense into Mae wasn't getting him anywhere, so maybe it was best just to send him how he was feeling. He did his best to shove the Orderite's egotistical waves out of the way, and instead imbue him with the same skepticalness he felt. But it was very quickly becoming apparent that Mae's emotions were stronger than Darke's. After all, as suspicious as the Alikein was, the younger stranger really didn't seem to be that strong of a threat... Darke huffed and ruffled his feathers irritably. "We were in the mountains, mostly." Mae answered with a grin. "Yup! Didn't even go into town to sleep, just toughed it out in the great outdoors!" Here Darke thumped his head against a tree with a roll of his eyes. Stupid boy... Not that Mae noticed, of course. The violet-haired teen scratched the back of his head faux-sheepishly. "Yeah, it's kind of weird." He admitted, tucking it back into its holster. "I've been calling it a 'slingblade.' It's what Aevah's-" There was a faint hiss of distaste as he said her name, and his eyes narrowed a fraction. "-sword turned into for me when I chose it. I kinda like it, though!" He admitted with a wide grin. ((4323/3000))

Fluffesu I still say that Sam and Sulu should at least have a short talk in a separate RP after this razz Mention of Oblivion managed to get a smile out of Sulu, despite her mood. She hadn't forgotten about the little hatchling with the grotesque choice in accessories. He would be older by now. Keindred, perhaps? She often lost track of time. She looked at him warmly. The dragons were dead. They had had to die. She would have to move on, if she wanted to pursue her ultimate goal. "It has, indeed." she said, relaxing, "I would love to see him. You live on Eowyn, yes?" she asked, gesturing with her body language an invitation to walk with her a bit. It seemed that the two twoleg males were fine, and the the little one, especially, would be fine. She wanted someone to talk to for a bit. Nothing about dragons, obviously, because she didn't want to lose one of the few people she could call friend, nor did she want to lose hatchling-visiting rights. That would just be miserable. She had actually been thinking of little Carrion recently, and it had been so cheering in another dark and sad day. She hoped that no more dragons would have to meet their end on her watch today. "Wow..." said Rae. The mountains? How incredible! "Those are quite dangerous! I heard that there are many dragons about, and other such... things." The closest he had ever been to the Terra Expanse was Tukyere, and it had looked imposing enough from there, all those mountains. "I think its fascinating! You used it so uh..." he tried to find the right word. He knew there was one, and it was one he had recently learned from the old texts his mother liked him to read. Crap. He forgot. "Well, ah, it was just... so magnificent how you slew that dragon!" he smiled a bit. Rae liked using absurdly pretentious words in absurdly pretentious ways. It was... fun. When he thought about it. Often, he didn't. He wished he could remember that word... "Can you show me again?" he asked, stumbling slightly, "Perhaps sometime in the future?" He added sheepishly. Magic... took a lot out of a person apparently. (3938/3000)

DraconicFeline How about he just invites Sulu to visit him soon? XD Sam/Carrion/Levi have a few things to do together before I start them up on anything with anyone else. "Sam speech" "Mae speech""Darke speech"Sam frowned slightly. Yes, he'd been the one to bring Carrion up, but what kind of awful parent was he, who hadn't even seen the youngster in weeks? Of everything waiting for him back home, Carrion was probably the Kein he felt worst about. Maybe it was getting to be that time when he should start back on his way. He turned to Sulu with a thin smile. "That's right." He confirmed. "We live in the mountains." He decided it was probably best not to mention Oblivion. The strange Diabi Alikein was trouble enough without inadvertently including himself in Sam's daily conversations. The Gaili shook his head. "I should probably be returning home now..." He said quietly, unenthusiastically. "But maybe you should consider stopping by to see us when you have a bit of spare time. I'll tell my clan-mates to keep an eye out for you!" Samael grinned fondly at her. "Goodbye for now, Sulu!" And with that, he hopped into a nearby tree before letting his shimmering spectral wings unfurl and taking to the skies. Mae was practically beside himself with how eager this kid was just at the sight of the Orderite's sheer awesomeness. Darke simply had to give up his quest of reasoning with his companion and just huffed in annoyance. Maeron clapped eagerly. "I think I can manage that!" He said with a nod. He had been looking for a little excitement, anyway, and he was never one to turn down attention. "We can go now! Well, er..." He hesitated, looking at the younger boy's weary state. "Maybe you should rest first. My home isn't too far away, that is, if yours isn't close by..." He added awkwardly. He'd never had someone closeish to his age come over before... He vaguely wondered if he sounded creepy. ((So, you can get your last post up, then we can start the Mae/Rae adventure from Mae's house, if you want...?)) ((4624/3000))

"Oh, I..." Suluksati had never been invited to stay with a clan, not since she had left her own on her wild quest. "Well, Thank you! I shall drop by!" she said, brightening up a bit as she saw him off. "I shall..." she said, feeling surprisingly better at the invitation, "Definitely." she checked on the twolegs and gave a little chuff of relief. They would be okay. It was time to make her exit like a true hero, even if she hadn't exactly been heroic that day. She slipped away into the forest, off to new challenges and adventures.
Raemos smiled gratefully. "You'r home." he said, "I think the place my sister is staying is still a long way away..." he said, his mind drifting on exhausted tangents. He had never really hung out with someone around his age who wasn't his sister. It was a new experience, and he would learn so much and... and... It was hard to think when he was so exhausted. He let Mae take him to his house, not thinking about any 'creepy' aspects of it at all.
