The Pancham would only give a slight wave as he walked away.

(Nice talkin' to ya, mate. See ya later, nipper!)

The boy underneath the railing would hiccup once and twice as Raven talked. The boy that was looking for pity, for mercy, or just for help ...eye would grow hard. It could look like some form of resolve, but, that wasn't it at all. Those words, from some wet behind the ears pup was annoying, but nothing annoy him more than when he looked at the insignia ...on him. A Ho-oh ...nothing else, nothing uncommon ...nothing that marked him as apart of one of the groups, and he almost growled as Raven walked away.

A temp like him? HOw dare he?

The words almost left his mouth as Raven disappeared out the other side of the door and walks towards the tables, and the boy in curiousity watch. He's mouth almost dropped when he sat at the Captain's table with her group, and she actually looked over at him with a smile.

A smile ...for that whelp.

Outrage showed on his face, and it would actually appear as the child burst out of the cafeteria line with a scream.

"That's not fair!"

Afterall, the thing that had been told to Raven about Temps were that they were brats .....children of those that had fallen out of favor, and, so this one was no different. His Pignite though was a much more sensible creature as she would grab for him...try to shove him back to safety.

Though his outburst would have everyone's eyes on him .....as one of the man would scoff.

"I was wondering where our toy went."

The boy would grow pale at the comment, but only for a moment before he yelled out again.

"I challenge that brat to a battle for his position here! IF I win, he become the temp, and I will take whatever position he has!"

He was call out in rare fashion of arrogances as Elisa would shake her head as she looks over at Raven.

"You talked to him didn't you?"

It was a question that was obviously meant for him to answer.

Raven sighed slightly, placing down his utensils gingerly before handing his tray to West to finish the contents. Time was of the essence and he might as well let someone else eat while he wasted some. "More at than to apparently" The boy stated, dusting himself off as he stood up. Instead of answering the challenge directly however he would first look to Miss Rose "Would it be best to handle this inside or out? I expect there are downsides either way" He wasn't a complete fool. Battling outside could draw unwanted attention, but battling inside here had a fair chance of making a mess of the place.

Oblivious to the situation as usual, West would make a rather swift assessment of the shouting child ">Kid's more ornery than ah Mareep inna cactus patch!<" He said, stating the observation outloud as if he were a spectator rather than the Pokemon of the one being challenged. Than again the Riolu hadn't exactly seen a lot of combat.

It was then Raven would look back to his 'opponent', tapping West on the nose to indicate the Fighting-Type should remain silent right now. "As you have issued the challenge, I by right decide the method. From which class do you hail?" The boy asked a brow cocked as his eyes momentarily shifted to the Pignite. The Fire-Type seemed to put that on display, but the simple fact was he couldn't be certain this was the child's starter, or that the brat hadn't gotten his own starter killed.

Diabound would simply remain silent, staling a morsel from a tray as he watched from the shadows. Oh, now it was dinner AND a show.

Pokemon: Riolu [M]
Name & Level: West , Lv 7
[Temperament] Rash
Bio: Like all Pokemon West was hatched from an egg, the mechanics of which how Raven obtained are something the boy would rather avoid. Found in a locked room above the Mirage Arena, Raven was able to procure the key to by digging through a leave behind by a Rattata. An unpleasant, yet ultimately worth while endeavour.
West himself was born upon the fair grounds during the Hunter's Tournament. Ironically this event took place in front of the Whack-A-Diglett stand, where upon his release into the world the Riolu promptly cracked his skull upon the pavement after Raven had tried to untangle the Fighting-Type from his cloak. This event is blamed by most for the Riolu's somewhat odd personality, that of an old west gun-slinger, accompanied by numerous but unfounded claims of being the Fastest Paws in the West.
Shortly after his hatching, an old cowboy hat floating upon the breeze landed upon the Riolu's head. Both boy and Pokemon took this as a sign of the Riolu's future, and thus he was dubbed West. The Wild West.

Raven's question would seem to stun her for a moment as Elisa would remind herself. This was Barney's brat, so of course, he didn't see danger and run ...or even slow down for that manner as he asked the boy the question about what team did he hail from.

"Humph, someone like me it should be obvious, I am from the Strike team."

The boy declares trying to sound arrogant despite the face that his face was red with past tears, and his voice hitched a bit. The woman would roll her eyes as she stands up from the table and then would walk to stand in between them both.

She would look at Raven first.

"We don't talk nor challenge Temps to battle. They aren't given that much respect, and ........"

This time, her eyes would fall coldly on the Temp

"you know that ... such a challenge isn't to be taken seriously. You don't gain rank by defeating anyone ...you gain rank by staying alive outside of these walls, which you refuse to do, Temp. You lost all respect, and shall not gain it simply by attacking a newcomer."

She said the words harshly as the boy seemed to deflate. It would seem that Raven wasn't going to get a fight at all .....when the door open to another person stepping in, This one, held the rank of Captain as well as it would seem, and at his side walked a fluffy Furforu. This one was sporting the Pyramid cut as he walked through with blue dye on his fur. His nose was turned upwards as he made his steps in a dainty sort of a way.

"Captain Rose, why not let them battle?"

It would seem he had caught the end of the conversation and found it quite funny. Afterall, it wasn't everyday that a temp got the balls to try such a stunt.

"That boy won't lose his status, and maybe ...just maybe, the temp will gain the guts to try again at a mission outside of these walls. Sounds like a victory overall."

He would declare as she would glare at him.

"You just want a show, you old b*****d."

She would put her hands on her hips as she sighs and the boy would seem to smile almost eagerly.

"Inside Raven, this sort of a thing is best handle in here, so that ...the worst that can happen is this tent is burn down ...and hopefully it doesn't attract any of those things with spilt blood."

She would actually grit her teeth as she said those words.

"That's Barney's charge ...Bernardo ....if something happens to him ...I won't be held responsible for his return."

The man would cross his arm.

"He has a ******** Totodile for a starter .....the stupid thing can't even evolve ...I don't see the big deal with everyone so worried about his return. It's not like he will outrank me for too much longer, and I can take him in a fight."

There was a cough in the distance.

"Liar"

The Talonflame would flick his head a bit as he narrowed his eyes a bit at the Furforu.

(Your human is still stupid and arrogant...I told you to fix that)

The dog would growl at the bird.

(You don't order me around bird ....besides .....you know I can't fix that)

He would growl. The dog afterall was the one that had to do the fighting, even though it was his trainer that was acting all high and mighty as they both sighed, and the Temp would actually jump with joy.

"Ready whenever you are ...rookie."

The boy declares sounding happy ...even though, it was understood this wouldn't change his rank. In his mind, that wasn't what was said at all.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 14, 2013 1:39 pm

"I'll keep that in mind Miss Rose" Raven would state, bowing to the woman slightly before returning his attention to his the Temp "...however some lessons are best taught first hand." With that said the boy would take a few steps forward, right hand crossing to his left hip and grasping the hilt of his sword "So you are Strike then, wasn't sure your starter would still be alive. Good" He stated, seemingly ignoring the insult in his words "That makes this all much simpler."

With a press of his thumb the PokeBall which had sat halfway in to the pommel would sink in, the blade withdrawn from his scabbard in a single smooth strike a moment later. Flames would erupt from the weapon, turning from red to purple as they trailed along the metal and along the child's arm before consuming his body in fire. Yet it was not a fatal blaze as most present likely anticipated; instead flames would begin to shift and divide, taking solid form as they wrapped around their charge. When they began to solidify Raven would be left in a thick overcoat made of what appeared to be leather, the design tailored in such a fashion as to allow easy movement. Over the sleeves of the coat were now gauntlets reinforced with a black metal with fur jutting out either end; the boy's boots had received a similar treatment. Higher up a a scarf had taken the place of his cloak, billowing as if possessing a life all it's own, the flame like edges acting like a prism and scattering small colourful lights with every movement. Higher still Raven's black hair had obtained a purple highlight around his bangs, but strangest were his eyes now glimmering in a multitude of constantly changing hues.

The trainer repressed a sigh. He hated that part, such an ostentatious display didn't suit him...but it was how this thing chose to work so he may as well embrace it. At least the colour of his clothes was a deep royal purple rather than something more feminine. Letting none of his discomfort show the boy would lift his sword at his opponent and speak clearly "I would never ask of my Pokemon something I wouldn't do myself were I able; and of this I am certainly able" Raven stated, his eyes narrowing determinedly "We strike for first blood." Like it or not, though the boy might be a Temp, he was still technically an ally; best to finish things quickly and with minimal injury.

With that said the child would look over his shoulder to the 'Captain' as he'd heard Miss Rose called "I'll try not to set anything on fire."

User Image "Miss Rose?"

One of the man at the table would chuckle. Elisa would roll her eyes at him as some of them would snicker and the Talonflame would actually catch fire along the edge of his wings a bit as he dug one talon into the table as he glares at them.

"Even the kid know you are single."

"Shut up, Bernado."

The other Captain laughed lightly.

"So cool ...that is why you are ...."

Elisa would glare at him dangerously ....as he met his eyes.

"Say another word, and they won't be the only one dueling here."

The man would throw up his hands as his Furforu would actually snicker himself. It was bad to get Barney mad, but it wasn't walk in the park with Elisa either as they all sat down watch the show as the Temp would look a bit surprised.

"So, we are battling it out ourselves...how uncouth."

He would declare as he would recall his own pokemon ...the Tepig would vanish in a flash of light as he took the pokeball into his own hand, and then reach behind himself as he would pull it from the scabbard strapped on his side . It was a short sword, instead of the long thing that Raven had pulled free despite the scabbard that made it look as long. It had two designs on it, the one of an Arcanine and on the other side was a Charizard.

The thin blade was without a tip through, and instead seemed to be longer on one side of the blade than the other at the end. It made one think it had been broken at one point, and as the boy put the pokeball on the hilt ....that would quickly change as it gained about a good six inches as the flames themselves wouldn't jump from the blade, but instead would condense itself into the very end of the sword.

The boy would smile as he struck his stance.

"Though I will admit, it will cut down on the damages. So, we cause pain, but no death .....I can agree to those rules."

He would smirk lightly.

The boy wouldn't give Raven a chance to back down then as he would make the first move. He would take one step forward with the blade drawn towards himself as he charge forward and aim to literally slam the hilt of his sword into the boy's gut. It was a great opener and helped to wind his opponent early for a finishing blow.

Raven's eyes narrowed, even without the PokeDex alerting him to what he was facing he could see the difference in raw power; though if his position around here was any indication he wasn't much good at using it. This was more a competition of skill than anything else.

Swinging his blade once to get a feel for the adjusted wait, it would become immediately apparent the weapon had transformed with him; the black blade becoming wider and oddly shaped, while the cross-hilt disappeared entirely. Flame simply swirled and twisted around the weapon, like a snake coiled and waiting. The advantage belonged to the temp, but Raven wasn't without his own tricks.

Waiting for the elder boy to drawn in close, the young swordsmen would sidestep and pivot, sinking lower as he attempted to drive his heel in to the back of the temp's knee, attempting to trip him up as well as dodge the attack.

(Sorry ....It could have been worst ...I could have chosen Lampent, and I see where I made the mistake. Though mostly I do call it a Pignite when first introduced.)

The two of them would clash, but it was more like a dance step then anything else as Raven side step and aim for the back of he boy's leg and the Temp would do a quick side step as well so that his attack missed, but so did Raven's. It was all executed quickly as the Temp would end this match with his back to Raven as he turn around swiftly and chuckles lightly.

"I thought it would be over on the first move, but it would seem you plan to drag this out a little bit longer. Fine by me."

The boy would declare as he would sheathe his sword then. This time, he knew that it was up to him to defend, but since this was a first strike match ...he already knew ...it made more sense to avoid the attacks coming than it did to try and defend or par. A side step move can lead his opponent to have his back open, and the flat of his blade against the back of shoulder blades would be all that was needed to help him put this boy down.

Afterall, he had told him to stand up for himself, and this was nothing more than another demonstration of that.

"Though I have no intention of losing, being defeated so easily would shame my instructor" Raven stated coolly as he adjusted the grip he held upon his sword to a double handed one. Shifting slightly the boy would look his opponent over, than immediately look past him; a good swordsman knew to watch the eyes and feet, but that could also be used to divert attention.

Kicking off the ground Raven would rush the Temp, releasing his right hands grip on the hilt as he went for a horizontal slash, rolling his wrist and re-grasping with his right the the boy would then cleave diagonally upward before finishing with a forward thrust at his opponent's throat. A technique designed to be difficult to dodge. If you attempted to move to the side you'd be caught by the horizontal slash, if you stepped back you'd encounter the thrust. Raven didn't play around even now, and the 'Slash & Sever' was proof of that.

[I can see your point.]

(8 - 3 + 19 - 27 = - 3dmg)

He was ready for Raven, or so he thought. The boy's moves were something out of a book ..he was swift ...too swift, and he was attacking like the wind. The boy was expecting trouble, but nothing like this, and the fighting style ...it was an actual fighting style. He was sure he was dealing with some backwater brat ...not someone who actually knew what side of the blade to hold. The move was swift ....as the boy would try to jump away ....as the attack would come from the left and the right, and he couldn't dodge there any more. The temp would find himself instead moving backwards as two of the strikes would actually tear his clothing in near grazes before the final strike ...the Temp actually saw it coming ...was aim at his throat as he brought he blade up with a ringing noise that actually rung across the room. The weapon was still sheathe as the boy had to actually pull it upwards to prevent what could have easily been a death blow.

"What happen to no killing?"

The Temp would call out outrageously as Elisa would smile.

"Fight over .....first strike makes him the winner ..."

"No, way!"

The temp would scream at her.

"He said first blood, and I am not bleeding!"

HE would point to the spot where his clothing had been cut into. He would even part it a bit to show that his skin hadn't been touched, but it was a very near thing as he looks back at Raven.

"Those were his rules ...remember."

Bernado would actually smirk at that as Elisa was ready to argue, but she shut her mouth quickly. He was right this time, Raven had said first blood, so the first to draw blood would be winner.

She only could be patience and wait for the outcome.

"I underestimated you ...I won't do it again ....so I guess it's my turn."

The temp would draw his sword again, he would twirl it once as the flames would actually create a arc in the air. He would take a few steps forward as he would bring the blade upwards and point it at the chest of his opponent ...and then charge forward. It seemed a crude move, except that the boy would immediately draw it backwards ...as he did a arc that would start at the waist and then move in an arc up the body. It could easily be dodge by jumping to the side, or at least that is how it looked until the blade itself was brought upwards to it's full arc and with a single twist of the boy's body it would come back as a crescent slash that would turn someone's dodge into a cleaver sort of a move.

The boy still would turn the blade flat at this point to make sure he bean ...Raven not killed him. Despite what he had done, this wasn't someone that had every drawn blood for another human before, and so the Temp was hoping for a knock out instead.

"Who said you would have died?" Raven responded to the boy's words calmly. True a blade to your throat could kill you, but drawing a little blood from the neck wasn't immediately fatal. It all depended on the depth of the thrust.

When the argument between the Temp and superiors began Raven would click his tongue. First Blood had indeed been his own rule; perhaps something he should have rethought given the lack of effectiveness in his strike. He was an insect before a bull, if he wasn't careful it could easily be the end of him.

The boy's next move was more effective to be true, but unlike his opponent Raven wasn't so quick to simple dodge his opponent's blow. Adjusting his grip upon his weapon the boy would instead attempt to lock blades with his opponent, intending to use the flat side to guide his opponent's strike away from his body.

It was a smart move ...a very smart move, because the blades would lock. Raven had even managed to catch it in the right place near the hilt instead of further up where there was nothing but flames. The boy was shocked, he move had been stopped at the beginning and not at the end. The dodge never happen, the full dangers of the move wouldn't be realized as his flame charge fizzled.

"Damn, you have more lives than a Meowth."

The boy would literally curse as he moved back a few steps. Though this time he wasn't sheathing his blade, he would keep it out as he put himself into a defensive pose. The blade extended outwards a bit, but close enough that he could draw it up for either a parry or a block.

He was more than ready for the next attack ....as he would glare at him.

"So, your last move wasn't a killing blow ...but what if I had step forward into it instead of back. You need to take your opponent's reaction into your planning as well ...you know.

I am not taking any chances with you ...." he would almost growl it out. "That is why my final strike is the flat of the blade."

He would declare sharply.

"You move."

"Who said I didn't?" Raven asked, his mask of calm never faltering "Your sword skills need sharpening if you can't detect the difference between a fatal lunge and a duellists thrust." With that the child would take several steps back. His opponent's defence was nothing short of rock solid this time around...but that didn't prevent him from giving the child a bit of a scare. It was time to switch tactics, and he new exactly how.

Focusing on his blade, Raven would hold the weapon vertically in front of him; and as he slashed the flames there would surge forward, bursting in to a raging inferno as they took on the form of a rather large dragon's head, it's maw opened wide. The flaming dragon would roar as it arched through the air, coming down upon the boy as if to devour him. It was unlikely he'd even be singed, but could his nerves handle it?

"And you are a fool to underestimate your own move."

The Temp would counter as he step forward again. He would move to attack quickly as he would see the rising dragon head ...his stance switching to attack as he saw his opening. The move was a bit one, one that took on the shape of a dragon in flames ...and move that he could use to his own advantage as he would use ignite the flames on the tip of the sword even further. He would step forward then as he would send the attack forward at his opponent as he used flame charge again ...as he would swipe the tip of the sword into the midst of Raven's attack and sweep it to the side ...hoping that flames would follow flames as he added his attack to his own strength.

He would then bring it to the side as rapid blow that was meant to actually cut thinly into Raven's side as he shove the blade forward in a thrust strike of his own ...as he used Flame Charge.

"I could state the same for overestimating yours" Raven replied, again never taking a step back. Instead the child would move forward and to the side, swinging his blade down in an attempt to ground his opponent's blade. When they tried to bring it back up he'd guide his own down the length of the weapon leading in to a horizontal slash across their sword hand, followed by a flip of the hilt and a double handed thrust toward's the temps foot. He wasn't defending, instead he chose to counter with another Slash & Sever!

(10 - 6 + 19 - 27 = -4 dmg)

It was a quick move another multi-strike that would have been impossible to avoid if only the boy had less experience. He already knew the best way to handle this was to actually reposition his hands ...he would drop his lock on hand to go with another and literally when their swords were locked together he would step forward to arch his blade upwards making it impossible to slide along them towards his hand. Though the attack would avoid one of the two moves, it would be almost impossible to avoid the strike to his foot ...and only a mistake would make it a glancing blow instead of the foot shattering move that would have brought him low.

It was all done perfectly in sync as the boy would growl and press forward. No words this time, in such close range, he would opt for the Sword thrust as he flips the blade in his hand and aim the hilt for the boy's chest as he would gain the room necessary if this hit for a sweeping blow that would cut the side of his leg ...in a neat thin line if it was to possible hit.
