The sand hit her about a half a second after the startling shock of blood against his cheek registered. IT made her flinch, jerking back and away to protect her eyes. A great distraction for the Death trainee, though he really needn't have bothered. The sight of the blood meant Al's shield had broken, or was so close it was too dangerous to continue anyways. Peyton was angry, she wanted to teach him a lesson, but she didn't want to hurt him. She knew first hand what that felt like.

He took off, and she didn't bother saying anything else in parting. Instead those pale eyes had dropped down to her hand, the blood that covered her knuckles. She blinked down at, letting Warrick return to the twin gold bands that circled her thumbs.

This was really unsatisfying..
