Perhaps one day soon, even today maybe, Sherry might sit down with Jake and tell him a few more things about their past history. It was too bad she didn't remember some of the best stuff. Though she did remember a few things though. But that was not for now. No, now they had a titan to deal with. Seriously, when did dealing with large monsters become the nearest thing to recreation in her life? When did trying to run support for someone in actual danger of dying become normal? Had he remembered his past life, he would have reasoned it wasn't much too different than being a hunter. Every day was a struggle, and in the end, you never really knew what you were fighting for, or if it was worth it in the first place. But for now, such questions and reminiscing was best left for another time, when he didn't risk being tossed off and crushed by a titan.

Plenty of time for memories later. Pleasant or otherwise. Perhaps during the downtime after this titan was taken care of. “Jake! Watch out! To the right!” Perhaps they could also discuss tactics for handling titans. Even though they seemed to be handling this one well enough. Hearing Sherry's warning, he side-stepped to the left, but not quick enough, and the titan left dent in his shield. It was still strong enough to withstand several more blows, but if he wasn't careful, he'd end up going down before the titan did.
"Thanks for the heads up!"
Re-directing his attention to one of the spines sparking up, he struck it.

"Not a problem!" It was part of her job, even if she liked to keep an eye on things regardless. Unfortunately, she saw Jake didn't quite get out of the way in time, and cringed a little inwardly.
"How are you holding up?" Important questions should be asked. And shield levels fell under the label of important, even if she was asking about them a lot. Sherry took this job seriously, ok.

If he only focused on dodging, his shield wouldn't have been as depleted, but he needed to focus on attacking too. Sometimes, it was hard to balance the two.
When Sherry called out, he grinned, using one hand to form an "O" with his index and thumb, while the other 3 fingers were pointed up, letting her know it was okay.
And then he turned around and sliced a spike clean off.

Sherry nodded at is indication that he was still doing fine. She'd have to trust he'd inform her if the situation changed. So she did.
Besides, it was hard enough to help keep her partner save from the titan and such without constantly asking questions. harder some times than others. "Keep an eye out to your left!"
It could be considered especially difficult when one's mind would just not stay on task. But she really shouldn't distract him with silly questions about hypothetical dates. That was something they could discuss later.

Indeed, such a question would only distract him further. While he did acknowledge that they were somewhat dating now and Sherry was his girlfriend, it was still kinda awkward at times, and he wasn't quite sure how to act at times. Regardless, the fact that she was willing to put up with him despite all his shortcomings, he was willing to take steps out of his comfort zone. Some steps bigger than others.
Even without said hypothetical questions or dates, he was distracted enough as is.

It was a good thing Sherry couldn't read minds. She'd find herself a little worried if she knew just what Jake thought about some of their relationship. Not that she'd blame him. As far as he knew, she didn't exist until she'd knocked on his door that one day.
But this was also why they needed a date or something. Maybe just another simple night out of their rooms. Who knew? She'd bring it up sooner or later.
Possibly sooner than she'd like, if her mouth did that thing where it decides to spit out words her brain has not okay'd yet.

Possibly so, considering it wasn't usually normal for your boyfriend to confess to you one day and forget you the next. Sadly, and possibly abnormally, Jake had the opposite issue, thinking too much about his reply and masking the truth. Or perhaps if he'd have thought about it, he would have realized it actually had the opposite effect.
But now was not the time nor place. Perhaps he would remember why someday and tell her the truth.

One day perhaps one of them would realize they both think to much and stop all the nonsense. Armagnac certainly hoped so, though she highly doubted it at this point.
For Sherry's part, she was still trying her best to keep Jake from getting too badly hurt on this titan creature. They weren't doing too horribly, but that could change, so she really should stay on task.

Sherry really was doing a wonderful job of making sure he didn't get electrocuted or turned into a shishkabob. He just needed to hold up his end and weaken the Titan before it caused problems for both of them.

She was trying her best, and she knew Jake was, too. They just had to last a little bit longer. Time sure went slowly when you needed it go quickly.
"Sparking spike, behind you and to the right!" Seriously, where did the titan get the juice for those things? Was it all just static electricity or something? Maybe she'd ask the research department one of these days.
If they lived through this. Not that she doubted they would or anything.

It would probably be a lot easier (and faster) if he didn't have to worry about getting electrocuted while keeping his footing on a moving monster, but of course life was never easy. Not as a hunter.

She had faith it would hold, but experience told her not to trust anything. Eyes scanned the length of it once up and down, before turning back to Jake. "So far so good!" Never not encouragement.
