Avani smiled as they walked over to her Papa. A new book and a new friend in one day!

"Papa! I made my choice!" she said handing her book up to him with the two books he wanted to buy, "And I made a friend who likes books as much as I do!" she smiled brightly at her Papa, then Ismene, then looked back, "She said I could barrow the books and her Papa wouldn't mind."

Her papa raised an eyebrow at that and said, "Oh really? You best take care of them Avani girl, or you'll have to pay for them."

Avani nodded seriously and said, "Yes papa!"

It didn't matter, she took great care of books just because they were books.

Avani's father smiled at her, then turned to Ismene handing her the books, "Our books ma'am." he smiled and brought out the money for the books, "How much Miss.?"

Avani's father laughed and smiled at the other girl as he took the books under one arm, "I would be mighty pleased to meet him Miss. Ismene." he touched his hat in salute to the other girl, and held out his hand to Avani, "Ready Avani girl?"

Avani nodded at Ismene about the instructions, and smiled brightly at Avani, "Will do Ismene!" She took her papa's hand and waved with her free one at Ismene, "You bet I will come back!"

She could not wait to come back, not only to new books, but to a new friend! She chattered all the way home about how fun the bookstore was, only to repeat it all to her mother anyway.
