♡ "There are parasites in water that are too microscopic to be detected and I doubt that you're able to smell parasites" Callie shrugged. "I like clean water. I make sure that I have clean water. When I don't have clean water? Then I'll try a gutter. But for now? Clean water it is." This is what you'd call...well, not prissy. More like upper-classed, you know? There's no such thing as clean water anymore. Sometimes Callie would find bottles of water and, other times, Callie would hope that she could find a way to boil and water that she's found so that it was clean. In a world like this, she'd rather be taken down by the infection rather than some dirty water. Callie didn't pay much attention to him when he spoke about the zones, only showing some sign of attention when she looked at him after he spoke about winters. " Winter is the only time that I've ever stayed in the zones for a long time. I try to travel further and further from the zones but my safety point is near by and I haven't been able to get the car working so I can't leave just yet" That was always Callie's plan, just like she and her parents had planned out. Get a car, get it to work and find enough gas to last you, get as farthest from the zones as possible. So far, Callie's got the car. It's just the problem of getting it to work. " The zones are alright, though. Some people are more comfortable with staying inside of it and others aren't... But you've got the people who don't know how to get out and others who are just too afraid to. Then there's people like me who are a part of a group who are aware of how to leave and survive outside of the zones." Callie shrugged. " But not everyone in the zones are happy. You've got some rebels that have some really badass weapons and what not and they cause a bit of chaos for the 'guards' but that's about it" Callie looked him dead in the eye. " The zones aren't bad but I'd rather prefer to have never been associated with the zones. Those men in women that are in charge...they don't care about the people within the walls. If a person shows any sign of an infection, the kill the person on the spot. No matter who is watching."♡

Cameron smirked at the female "I'm alive, aren't I?t" he said simply after she finished her rant, The male stood up, careful not to bump into anything and make noise. The sound of the infected outside was starting to die down anyway, they were probably still there, just becoming dormant from the lack of direction now that they had no sound to follow. Cam stretched his arms out and yawned "I'll leave you the bedroom, i'll take the bathroom" He was used to sleeping in weird places, even a toll booth once. The male left the room, returning a few minutes later with an armful of miss-matched towels and blankets. His backpack never once left his back as he did anything. Cameron headed up the stairs, again being careful not to make noise, luckily there was enough light from the moon that night that he could just barely see enough to make his way around. There was a bedroom on the ground floor but Cam wouldn't take the risk of sleeping there. The only two rooms upstairs were the bathroom and the child's bedroom, he left the bedroom to the female because he was starting to think she was kind of prissy, especially after her rant about 'clean water'

♡ Callie opened her mouth, wanting to tell him that he could have the bedroom but he didn't leave much room for discussion on the topic. Callie hadn't had a good night's sleep in a couple days. All she had was about two hours a night at the most. It's hard to sleep while knowing that those things were out there. It would be stupid to let her guard down because she wanted sleep. Callie made her way up the stairs and down the hall to the bedroom as quietly as possible for her. She didn't take anything with her into the room other than he bag. She had come in through this room in the first place so she knew what it looked like. The wallpaper on the walls were peeling and there was clear indication of where pictures and posters had been hung up before the outbreak. Callie sat in the corner of the room next to the bed. She was way too big for the bed, being a lot taller than most females her age, so she'd just sleep in a sitting position on the floor, no biggie. Callie crept to the bathroom. She never walked freely in houses, who knows what type of shape they could really be in. It was better to be cautious than having a twisted ankle due to rotting floorboards. Callie made her way to the bathroom. " Goodnight" she said quietly. " Call me if you need me" After creeping back to the bedroom, Callie settled back down on the floor while leaning her head against the bedpost. She held her gun in her hand, safety on but it was easy to take off in a moment's notice. It was the first time in a while that she was going to sleep with someone else remotely close to her. And it wasn't comforting at all.♡

Cameron had went upstairs and lined the bathtub with the towels and blankets, and to be honest it was pretty comfortable. He heard Callie enter the room and pushed his sunglasses off to look at her through the dark "Night" he answered and sunk down into the tub, pulling the shower curtain around the tub and hiding himself. He smirked, he found his own actions amusing but wouldn't have had an answer to why if he was asked why it was funny. Sure, for any normal person it would be weird, gross even, to sleep in a bathroom, but for Cam it wasn't the first time, and probably wouldn't be the last. Things like where he slept or what he ate and drank didn't matter, as long as he was still alive. He turned on his side and closed his eyes, listening to the sound of muffled hissing, moaning and clicking for beyond the walls of the house, some nights, he sat up listening to them, wondering if the had feeling the way he did, wondering if they felt pain, but these thoughts always passed and never came to mind when it was necessary to kill one of them. Cameron moved his arm, using it as a pillow and resting his head. Slowing deep breaths escaped his lips as his eyelids became heavy. As he fell into sleep, Cam could still hear the noises of infected outside but they seemed to become distant in the haze of drowsiness.

♡ Callie had awoken before the sun was even in the sky properly. The sky was a gentle purple, the sun threatening to become apparent. Callie had been making sure that she had everything in her bag, just in case this new found male had some sticky fingers. Once everything seemed together, Callie put her gun into it's holster and held a shiv in her hand. There was no such thing as 'sleeping in' anymore. It was get up and get going. There was no lounging time anymore. Callie slid her bag onto her back once more and made her way do the hall again to the bathroom. " Cam" she whispered. Even if the sun was coming up, the house was still a bit dark. " Cam, it's morning. We should get going" The hum of the infected had gone away and the world seemed strangely quiet. Callie loved the quiet, the sound of the bugs chirping happily from wherever the hell they were lurking. The brunette felt that it was polite to greet people properly. She told him goodnight and this was her way of telling him good morning. She didn't want to come across as hostile, although that was how he was beginning to come across to her. Callie intended on sticking with Cameron for a little bit longer, despite his attitude. Well, he saved her and she gave him water. People don't go around all willy nilly doing that anymore. He could have just let the infected get Callie and then run away. And Callie could have kept her water to herself. " The infected stopped making noises but I'm sure some stragglers are still around." That's what the shiv was for. Callie tended to sneak up behind the infected and stab them in the head- especially the clickers- to avoid attracting more infected.♡

Cameron flicked his hat up and his bloodshot eyes snapped to look at the female. He stared at her for a thirty seconds before he even said anything "Its early. I'm going back to bed." he hissed through his teeth, being a typical teenage male. Cam turned his face away from Callie and slid deeper down into the tub and closed his eyes, Though he couldn't seem to fall back asleep. What was with this girl? Didn't she have someone or someplace to get back to? Cam let out a deep breath, getting irritated that he couldn't fall back asleep. This girl was not only prissy but also way too loud in the morning and apparently she didn't know that sleep was a good thing. After of few minutes of laying wide awake with his eyes close, Cameron grumbled and got up and stretched his arms outward letting out a small breathy noise as he did so. He fixed his backpack straps and rubbed the side of his neck, it felt sore, like he slept on it funny. Then again he was a six foot tall nineteen year old boy that squeezed into a small towel/blanket-padded porcelain bathtub, so it made sense the he was sore. Cam fixed his hat and yawned into his hand as he walked out of the bathroom.

♡ Callie couldn't believe how this guy was. Why would he want to stay in and sleep? Yeah, she could have just left him but what if some others had come along? She couldn't leave him behind and allow something to happen to him. No matter what your survival skills were, there would always be people that could hurt you. In Callie's mind, it's not the infected that you have to worry about; it's the people. And Cameron seemed relatively harmless to her. He was just a cranky person and that was alright. Callie had her cranky days too but today was not one of those days. Callie watched Cameron come out of the bathroom, looking at him with a face of utter disbelief. " Sorry..." she said, not wanting to get on his bad side. "I know it's early but you've got some bandits that do, in fact, get up this early so that they could catch some unsuspecting people." Callie was one of those people who thought too far ahead about things. The sun was just threatening to come up and she was already imagining who could attack them within the day's hours. " Good morning" she said a lot less hopefully as she followed behind him. The girl was trying her hardest not to be loud but she never really had to speak to people quietly so her voice control wasn't the best as the moment. " So where are you heading next? Do you have a normal place? Or someone to return to?" These were the types of questions that could determine whether or not Callie should stay with him. She could take him back to her place but that was risking him disappearing suddenly with a lot of her stock.♡

Cameron looked at Callie but didn't answer her. It was way to early for him and he was far from a morning person, though that probably wasn't hard to see. He walked down the stairs taking his butterfly knife out and holding it in his hand, he kept it closed but wanted to have it out just in case anything happened to 'pop out' at him. Cam walked drowsily into the kitchen and dropped onto one of the dining room chairs at the table. He finally spoke to Callie again "I've never had an issue being on my own and sleeping as late as I want before, Why would I now?" It was a rhetorical question and he let out an exhausted sigh and began rubbing his neck again,it was more sore than he thought and he cringed a little before taking his hand away and cracking his knuckles. He figured his first statement had answered one of her three questions that he was alone so he obviously had no one that he had to get back to. "I don't stay in one place. I move just about every day." Cameron finally got up seeming a bit more awake now. He walked into the living room and pushed the couch out of the way of the front door.

♡ " That's careless" commented Callie, thinking about his sleeping habit. She didn't exactly answer his question because she knew that he didn't need an answer so what she said was simply a comment in her own opinion. Callie has never gotten into any situation that may have killed her. Well, she had once made too much noise in an old hospital and a guy came out to investigate. After that, Callie just slit his throat and fled from the hospital as quickly as possible. There could have been a lot more of those men and she would not take the chance. Death wasn't only an issue for Callie, sex was still apparent in the world but it wasn't something that people could do a lot. Not in this world. Callie's parents had once told her that there were things in the world that could prevent children being born, now there wasn't anything like that to aid people. Callie wasn't even quite sure what sex was, just that it made babies. Callie was 19, born a year after the outbreak. She wasn't really sure about how the world was before the outbreak had started. All she knew was what she had learned form school and what her parents had told her when she was a child. Callie watched him as he moved the couch away from the front door. They were leaving now. She'd follow him for as far as she could and then she'd have to turn back. Maybe, if they could break the ice a little, he could stay with her. Well, it was obvious that he didn't have too much interaction with things that didn't click, groan, and hiss. Callie was just trying to be really friendly with this boy. Maybe they could be friends and sort of travel together. Callie wouldn't mind that but it seemed like it would be a problem for him. Callie followed behind him out of the house, noting that there were some infected in the neighborhood but not directly surrounding the house. Callie pointed at a car. " Don't go by that" she whispered. " There's infected in there and they know how to bang on the windows" Callie held her shiv tightly in her hand, her body tensing. She was ready to strike if needed. None of the infected seemed to pay attention to them, specifically because it wasn't exactly daylight yet and those things can't see as well as humans can.♡

Cameron looked down the street both ways, he was oddly casual about everything he did even though the threat of death seemed to lurk around each and every corner. To him, it was just the way things were, and why would anyone want to live in fear? He had listened to what Callie said and avoided the car, he probably should have acknowledged her but he was too distracted by taking note of where all the wandering infected on the street. Cameron had wanted to travel the world, it may have been a ******** up place now, but he still wanted to see what everything was like, he wanted to wander. The thought of staying in one place for the rest of his life gave him feelings of anxiety. Cam choose to go left, only because there was a significantly less amount of the infected walking cluelessly on that side of the street. He boy had his butterfly knife open and held it in his left hand, he was left handed, like his father. The male walked down the street almost carelessly, he didn't even react to a an infected that turned to him as it gargled on a mouth full of old black colored blood, until it got about a foot from him. He stabbed it in the side of the head before it could growl loud enough to attract the attention of the others.

♡ Callie didn't mind being ignored. She knew that he at least made note of her words since he stayed away from the car. Finally, he took some of her advice without any backtalk! This could be progress! Him going near the car could have set off the infected and got them into a situation, she saved them from danger. It was a sort of gratifying feeling. Callie followed Cameron but she wasn't directly next to him or behind him, she was a couple paces away from the boy. The sun was just threatening to come up and there was a bit of light out so it wasn't like she couldn't see him. Callie came up behind a clicker and roughly stabbed it into the head. She hated the clicking noise. She could deal with anything else but the clickers, man. They can't see you but they can sure as hell hear you. You can't be delicate with the clicker infected, their heads were basically what happens when fungus and toadstools begin to grow in the forest. Those ******** were nasty. Callie took her shiv out of the creature's head, wiping the blood off on her jeans. She preferred shivs over knives since she could use the shivs to unlock doors and whatnot along with stabbing things. Callie moved through the streets quickly. She was in line with Cameron but she was more out in the open than she was. Callie is lightweight and tall for her age so moving quickly wasn't a problem of hers. Plus, she had a tendency to use the environment to her advantage by using trees to pivot herself onto ledges of houses to get in through windows. Now, Callie wasn't necessarily following Cameron at this point, her initial plan was to continue her raiding once morning came and that was technically what she was doing at the moment with the exception of having a companion.♡

Cameron saw a run-down comic book store with broken full-wall glass windows that were shattered. Peering into the store he could see racks upon racks of flimsy magazine-like books. His face lit up faster than you could count to three mississipi's. Cam had found comic books before, a few here and there in bedrooms or basements but he'd never seen a whole store full of them. He hadn't really realized it but he had stopped in the road and was staring at the store, He was like a kid seeing something -like, for sake of example, Disneyland- for the first time. After standing for a good few seconds taking it in, Cameron walked up to the store and stepped through where the windows should have been. He looked around the room, recognizing some of the animated characters on posters and cardboard cut outs, Like Batman, and Ghost Rider. It was cool, There were all kinds of stuff just like it covering the walls. Cam tore his sunglasses off, holding them in his right hand, his butterfly knife still clutched in the other. He looked back at Callie, He knew she was following him but didn't know why, it was a little weird but she wasn't a threat so he hadn't done anything about it.He had looked back at her wondering if she was going to follow him into the store as well. It was a brief though that crossed his mind but what was so much more impressive to him was the shelves upon shelves of the books.

♡ Callie hadn't followed directly behind him, the girl had actually slid her way into a little convenience store along the way to see if there was anything left. Food, money. Maybe even candy? Gosh, Callie hadn't had candy in forever. Callie scavenged through, seeing old magazines that didn't interest her at all. She just killed an infected in the middle of the street, why would she care about the 'Top 10 ways to get clearer skin'. That wasn't a priority of hers. Her skin was fine, she was healthy. A weak immune system could really kill you. Besides the infected, there was also airborne spores in some places so you'd have to be careful for those. Callie managed to get a gas mask from her employers back in the zones so she was set if that situation ever came across. But was Cameron? Now that she met the guy, she felt entitled to keep him alive. Callie tried her hardest to open the cash register without making a noises, satisfied with the sight of money inside of it. Money went a long way within the zones and Callie had a feeling that she'd be able to use this soon. Continuing her search, Callie found absolutely nothing besides pet food. What a bust. Callie walked through the threshold of the abandoned store, looking around for where she had saw Cameron disappear to. Callie soon found him, climbing through where the window should have been and looking around. "Sweet" she said, putting the handle of the shiv in her mouth while she tied up her hair. It would have been easier to hold it by the blade but Callie had just killed an infected and she wasn't sure if she could get infected by blood transfer. " You like these things?" she asked. Callie wasn't a comic book reader, she just liked books. " I'm more of a chapter book person but comics are cool, too" Callie held her shiv in her right hand, fixing her bag strap with her left. " Man, these are a lot of comics.... Want to take them?" Well, there were a lot but Callie was sure that they could handle a few. It was either leave it there to the infected and bandits or take them. " These aren't allowed in the zones. They have standardized books in the schools and reading after school is solely your own choice" Callie shook her head, touching one of the comics. " Kids would kill to have these..." ♡

Cameron picked up one of the comic books from the back wall. He blew a layer of dust and ask off of it and wiped it off with his hand. He looked at the cover, he didn't recognize this one and so he took in every detail of the picture. The character on the front was a large male, very built. He had long blonde hair, especially for a guy. Cam made a bit of a weird face at this. There was a flowing red cape on the males back and he also wore a strange metal hat with what looked like pigeon wings on the sides. What stood out the most of the cover was the over-sized hammer in the males hand. Cameron set the book back down, less interested in this one than others he'd read or seen. He turned to Callie to see her putting her hair into a ponytail "You really think these kids would like them?" He asked as he flipped through another book, this one about a female in the tightest black clothing he'd ever seen, it was probably hard to move like that Cam thought as he looked at it. "I mean, its not like there's any way i could carry around a bunch of these all the time" his voice trailed off as he looked up from the book "We could bring it to them" he suggested with a shrug

♡ Callie looked extremely hopeful for about half a second before the light flickered from her eyes. Whatever bit of happiness that Cameron had brought her with his suggestion had faded just as quickly as it came. " These books.... you don't find them in the zones. Meaning that, in order for someone to have them, they'd have to go out of the zones. That's not allowed. I the guards ever saw a kid with one of these, the entire family would get in trouble. I couldn't let that happen." Callie sighed, looking at the comic books through their layer of dust." And you should be careful with entering buildings. You never know where the spores are" Spores were usually found in buildings where they could grow in the darkness, Callie was wary of any places that weren't homes. Callie's mood seemed to change dramatically, her jaw was locked as her fingers went from comic book to comic book. " You should at least take what you want. I could help you carry them, really. It's not that big of a deal. If these make you happy then you better snatch up whatever makes you happy. Happiness is a rarity now-a-days" Callie picked up a comic book, holding it to her chest. " Happiness isn't worth the price in the zones. If they ever found out that I've been going back and forth? They'd probably kill me and claim that I had the virus. Or just expel me and send a message to the other zones saying not to accept me anywhere" Callie shrugged. " I wouldn't care about the latter but sometimes I just need to go back, you know? I don't enjoy being alone to the silence and the infected, sometimes I just need to talk a human that wouldn't try to kill me." Callie quickly took her bag off her back, zipping it open and putting a couple comic books from the same series in her bag. She was obviously going to read them. Her house wasn't too far from here so she could always come back and get the rest. " I read quickly..." she muttered, zipping her bag back up and putting it back on her shoulder. ♡
