MISSION- Cycle of Business

Any Team Aqua member is asked to convince Rydel's Cycles to supply Team Aqua with Aqua Bike DXes.
The best way to convince Rydel is with a quick 1-on-1 battle.

Pokemon: None

Funds upon Completion: 800

Current Pokemon Team: Growlithe, "Cinna" (0)
Inventory: N/A

Pass!

There were a few spelling and punctuation errors, but only minor. Nothing that a quick re-read of your mission before you post it can't fix.
I didn't quite understand your use of Growlithe's Flash Fire ability, as from my understanding the ability activates when the user is struck by a damaging Fire-type attack, not when the user uses a damaging Fire-type attack.

Anyways, I really enjoyed the story and there was a nice bit of character development and internal conflict, which is always nice to see. Also the length of the mission was superb, especially for a level one.

Enjoy your 800 PD.

Uh, in the mission, Cinna (Growlithe) was not the one using the Fire Fang attack. The Electrike was the one using Fire Fang as it's attack. Hope that clears up the confusion about his ability.

Cody sat at the bar in the kitchen of Aqua’s common room, sorting through paperwork and penciling in ideas for new missions. He could hear Ifrit, his Darumaka, Rotinare, his Rotom, and Fraxure all playing together loudly in the lounge area behind him. As he turned his head, he could see Ifrit and Fraxure jumping on the furniture, leaping from couch to couch as if the floor was lava or something. Rotinare just giggled, spinning around in the air, and occasionally firing small blots of lightning at the others for them to dodge. “Be careful!” the boy shouted to his pokemon, giving them a glare. “Don’t you dare get hurt.”

The pokemon stopped what they were doing as they watched their trainer stare at them, but as Cody turned his head back around, the pokemon quickly resumed their shenanigans. It was only a matter of time, though, before a loud thud was heard from the lounge area. It seemed as though Fraxure had jumped too high with not enough forward momentum, and had missed the next couch, landing on the floor and busting up his knee. The boy rolled his eyes as he got up from his post at the counter to go care for his injured pokemon. He picked the dragon up in his arms and shook his head, comforting the injured pokemon. “It’s gonna be ok,” he started, nuzzling Fraxure like a small puppy. “I told you to be careful. Let’s get you cleaned up.” With a well placed bandage and a pat on the head, the dragon pokemon was good as new. Cody went to get back into his work, but felt the TADS device in his pocket buzz, alerting him of a notification. Opening the phone, it automatically took him to a webpage filled with news articles. The headline: Trouble in Pokemon Tower! The boy quickly scrolled through the article, absorbing he highlights, and shut his phone, tossing the object back into his pocket. Just as he had secured the phone tightly, it buzzed two more times, this time in a different pattern, meaning he had a message. Pulling the device from his pocket once more, he flicked on the screen and read the text.

Slipping the phone into his pocket for a second time, Cody walked into the lounge area where his pokemon had been playing before. “Rotinare, I need your help,” he called, looking around the room for his mischievous Rotom. The small pokemon popped its head out of a clock on the wall and and squealed as it zipped around the room.
“Rotinare, I need to get to Lavender Town. Take me there, please.” Rotom nodded and zipped into the television, possessing the device as it did the last time. The television glowed with a dark purple aura, the screen flicked on to a white noise background, and a swirling portal emerged from the glass. Cody pulled pokeballs from his belt and returned Fraxure and Ifrit before being sucked into the portal created by the television. He figured he’d need as much help as he could get on his adventure to the Kanto region. The boy fell endlessly through the portal, seeing nothing but black and white as he descended, until he was finally forced out of the fall and spat out onto a hard, tile floor in a completely different room. The boy looked around, noticing that the room he appeared in this time was much different from where he portaled to the last time this happened. The room was about the size of a walk in closet and filled to the ceiling with dusty old boxes. Rovinare appeared out of thin air and danced around the tiny room, bouncing off the walls before phasing itself into its pokeball. “Wait, you can do that?” Cody asked, but there was no response. He got up from the floor, utilizing the box towers around him as a support as he lifted himself off the ground. He quickly found the door and made his way into a much larger room. It seemed as though Rotom had sent him into someone’s house, but no one was home. The room was huge, and there wasn’t much separation between different parts of the house. The kitchen was the only part that wasn’t covered in hard wood flooring, and everything seemed to run into each other.

“I need to get out of here before someone comes home,” the Aquan said to himself, zipping his jacket up over the black team logo displayed boldly on his shirt. “If I’m going to get help, the last thing I want is for people to know I work for a criminal organization.” He quickly exited the house, making sure to lock the doorknob behind him, and headed down the street. He could see the haunted Pokemon Tower in the distance, and knew he was heading in the right direction. Cody waved politely to those he passed, trying to portray as much of a neighborly ‘I’m not a weirdo from another region’ vibe as possible.

After a short walk, he arrived in front of the Pokemon Tower. The scenery was exactly what he had expected – dead, shriveled up trees, plants, and brown grass all around the base with dark, ominous clouds surrounding the top of the tower. Cody swallowed hard, gripping a pokeball, and making his way inside. The building was dark with very little light making it through the heavily tinted windows. The floors were broken and creaked with each step, and in the distance somewhere, a drip of water echoed every couple seconds through the stone walls. Other than that, though, the building seemed deserted and quiet. There were no signs of gang activity, or even that people had been in this building at all for the longest time. Cody navigated through the tower’s dark halls, eventually finding a stairway leading up. At the top of the stairs was a flickering glow, as if from a candle. “Well, that’s not spooky,” the boy said to himself, trying his best to not discourage himself from ascending the staircase. With a slow, cautions step, he started to climb, the each stair seeming to creak louder than the last as he got closer to the top. At about the three-quarter point, the flickering light went out completely, as if it was blown out, leaving Cody to fend for himself in the pitch black of that creaky, haunted staircase.

The boy scurried the rest of the way up, terrified moreso of what could be waiting at the bottom of the stairs than at the top, and found himself in a large room with tall ceilings. The floor of the room was practically empty with a chair here and there or a table flipped on its back or side, but not much else. The ceiling, however, was cluttered with lights. Fancy lamps and chandeliers hung elegantly, coated in cobwebs and dust as if they hadn’t been lit in ages. As Cody made his way closer to the center of the room, he felt chills run down his spine and goosebumps beginning to form on his arms. He pulled his coat closer to his chest and looked around, jumping as something flashed in his peripheral. He jerked his head in the direction of the movement, but there was nothing. Then it happened again. The boy jumped once more, making a slow 360 to observe the whole room, but it was still empty. Still just him.

Suddenly, the room illuminated as if all the chandeliers on the ceiling had been lit at once, and just as fast as they had lit up, the room went black. From the darkness, Cody could see a small light at the end of the room that seemed to be getting closer. He shivered, his teeth starting to softly chatter as the room’s temperature took a serious dive below freezing. The light grew brighter as it got closer, and soon the boy could make out a figure that looked like a candle. The figure rocked back and forth slowly as it continued to move forward, and was shortly just a few steps away from the Aquan. Cody knelt down to inspect the figure, noticing it had a face and was making a soft humming sound, as if it was saying its name. Liiiiiiit~ Wiiiiiiiick~ Liiiiiiiiit Wiiiiiiiiick~ it repeated, only its face and the floor directly in front of it illuminated in the dark room. It had to be a pokemon! Cody reached out his hand to touch the candle, but was scared out of his mind as a Haunter popped out of the darkness right above the pokemon’s flame. He jumped back, letting out a loud shout, and releasing Celeste and Darumaka instinctively to protect him.

Celeste made quick work of the candle ghost, firing a powerful, concentrated blast of water at the pokemon, hitting it square in the body and sending it flying. Darumaka launched at Haunter with a fist of flames, utilizing his held item and Hustle ability to land a powerful hit on the foe. Haunter disappeared into the darkness upon being hit, but quickly retaliated by firing a large ball of ghostly energy at the small fire type from an unexpected direction. The attack exploded upon contact, sending Darumaka into a wall. Celeste looked around quickly, trying to locate Haunter, but resorted to firing large blasts of water randomly into the darkness. Haunter appeared in front of the Water Type and stared deeply into her eyes. Working its psychic powers of influence, the Milotic was put to sleep, and Haunter was gone once more.
“Celeste! No!” Cody called to his pokemon, but it was no good. The Water Type had fallen into a deep sleep. Darumaka, thinking quickly, picked himself up off the ground and looked to the chandeliers. Firing small bits of fire at each of the hanging torches, he quickly illuminated the room, making Haunter fully visible. The Ghost pokemon came back with another Shadow Ball, making contact with Darumaka, and shooting him into his trainer’s chest. Cody quickly wrapped his arms around his pokemon as he caught him, protecting the knocked out Fire Type from future harm as he rummaged around for the appropriate pokeball. Celeste tossed and turned in her sleep, but it was no good. Haunter appeared in front of her and latched its mouth onto her head, seeming to suck the dreams right out of her mind. When it let go, it seemed to be even more powerful than before and launched a Thunder attack at the sleeping Water Type, hitting the incapacitated pokemon hard, and knocking her out as well.

Cody pulled the K.O.’d Milotic from battle and pulled another ball from his belt. “Poochy, you’re up!” the boy called, summoning his faithful Mightyena to the field. Mightyena growled at Haunter, taking off after it, bearing her teeth at the ghost. Haunter quickly realized the threat and sped off, zipping around the room in fear of being bitten by the pooch’s vicious fangs. Poochy followed in tow, quickly gaining distance on the Ghost Type until finally she had room to pounce. With a swift jump, Mightyena launched herself at Haunter and bit down hard on the ghost’s backside. Haunter collapsed to the floor, screaming in pain, but managed to summon a ghostly chain, in its weakened state, that wrapped itself around Poochy loosely. The Mightyena shook violently, trying everything in her power to shake it off, but it was no good. The chain stayed attached. Finally, Poochy blasted Haunter with the same Shadow Ball attack it used to bring down Darumaka. Haunter writhed as its energy depleted completely. As the Ghost pokemon fainted, a shock was sent through the chain that it had wrapped around Mightyena’s body, sucking the energy from the Dark Type as if to take it to the grave as well. Poochy collapsed as the bind sapped the rest of her energy, swirls appearing in her eyes. Cody knelt beside her and opened his pack, pulling a Revive from the bag and spraying his pokemon’s wounds.

Poochy slowly regained consciousness and struggled to her feet. The trainer pulled another medicine from his bag and sprayed the rest of her wounds with it, seeming to revitalize her the rest of the way – and just in time, too. Just as Mightyena regained her full strength, the mysterious candle pokemon teetered its way back into the room, singing its name softly once more before engulfing itself in flames and launching them outwards toward its foe. Poochy nimbly evaded the attack and fired a pulsed shockwave of dark energy at the ghost, hitting it for what seemed to be moderate damage. The mysterious candle pokemon had obviously had enough and was growing angry. The flame on its head quickly grew to twice the size and the room around them started to heat up, quickly reaching a point that made Cody sweat. It shouted its name loudly and started to blast plumes of fire sporadically at Mightyena, each of which she nimbly dodged, and came back with another Shadow Ball. The candle ghost quickly moved out of the way, but just barely, and struggled to come back with another attack. After the last fit of rage, it was obvious that this pokemon was worn out. Cody pulled a pokeball from his pack and tossed it, quickly absorbing the Ghost Type in a red light and dropping to the ground. The ball wobbled and shook as the captive pokemon violently tried to break free, but after shaking once, twice, three times, and responding with a soft Ding, it was apparent that this pokemon was captured. Cody looked to Poochy and shook his head. “Let’s get the hell out of here.”

Pass, good effort for such a plain mission.

I really wish we'd fix our continuity though. Is it Pokemon Tower or a radio tower now? lol.

MISSION- Mining in Granite Cave

Any Team Aqua member is asked to go to Granite Cave and get one of the rare stones (Fire Stone, Water Stone, Leaf Stone, Thunderstone, Moon Stone, Sun Stone) that are in it. But watch out for Steven. He often trains his pokemon in the cave, and won't hesitate to challenge you to a battle. (If you run into him, he'll use 3 basic stage Ground, Rock, or Steel-type Pokemon)

Pokemon:
Aron

Funds upon Completion: 600
Reward: The evolution stone you bring back.

Allen’s party for this mission: Frogadier (7), Heracross, Kabuto (5) and Larvesta (3).
Pokemon equipped with items: Frogadier with Amulet Coin; Larvesta with Lucky Egg.
Items brought: Everything in his bag.

Allen looked around in the surrounding waters, there were so many people out swimming in the ocean, wasn’t it cold? Surely, being in the middle of winter, the water must’ve been freezing… Then again, Hoenn did have a bit more of a tropical climate than other regions. Of course, the Aquan only had experience with the weather in Kalos, but he’d still read and watched shows that depicted other regions’ weather patterns. He thought barely more into it before being interrupted.
“Oi! Get up an’ be ready!” The grunt driving the boat called to him. He nodded to the tall plain faced man and took his shoes off, stuffing then into his bag. He’d be jumping into the water and walking inland, no point in soaking them. He took the bag, slung it around his shoulder, and then moved to the side of the boat ready to jump off the side and into the warm shallow waters of Route 106. Man, it was like a nice little summer down in these parts, water wasn’t too cool, no wonder so many people were out in it. The driver got his attention again after glancing around, “Jump out here.” Again, the trainer nodded, hopping out of the boat, expecting much more water than he landed in. The splash soaked the trim of his shorts, but was only about calf deep. Impressed, he held a thumbs up, knowing the driver would see it and began wading in. He turned and looked back a ways, Dewford’s port could be seen in the distance, not too large, but could cause a bit of trouble if too many large boats needed to use the channel. He shrugged, finally making it up to some dry sand.
“Let’s see.” He muttered to himself, pulling out his TADS to try and find some sort of map system for the cave he’d be exploring. Granite Cave… the words repeated through his mind, “Doesn’t sound like the kind of place people would want to be, really.” He shrugged, turning westward. From the looks of anything he was finding on his TADS, the cave was a bit inland, but was hard to miss. With a sigh, he took has bag and grabbed a towel and shoes out of it. He dried his legs and feet, laid out the towel to set his shoes down and wipe his feet before they were promptly put into the comfortable footwear. Then he whipped the towel around, getting as much sand as he could out of it, rolled it and put it away. “Prep finally complete.” He muttered, and had begun looking around for this seaside cave.
. . . . . …

Finally, after about a full twenty minutes of uneventful walking, he found the gaping mouth of Granite Cave, it was wide across, but the top was only a few feet higher than he was tall making it look very claustrophobic. “The one cave they want to send me too is going to give me a heart attack.” Of course, he was definitely overreacting; it wasn’t at all that bad, he was only mad that he had to leave without much sleep the previous night. Lyndanna, his Banette, was still suffering from a couple burns on her face and would wake up whimpering every now and again, and Seviper, though doing much better had become somewhat of a pain, wanting his trainer to make sure the bandages were holding up or small things like that. He sighed again, the redhead desperately needed to stop getting caught up in thought like that, next thing you know, he’d be sitting in the middle of a battle and end up losing from loss of concentration. Shaking his head to clear his mind, he headed into the cave headstrong, knowing the where about of certain stones. He’d read up on the cave soon after receiving the mission, learning interesting facts and tidbits of information that would be useful to getting him out of situations with native Pokémon. Things like the only wild Pokémon at a low enough level underground that might attack someone searching for rare stones are Aron, a Steel and Rock type. Glancing down toward his belt, Allen remembered that he only brought four Pokémon with him on this trip, leaving Banette and Seviper to rest back at HQ and his other two were in his PC.

There were plenty of Pokémon to find, numerous kinds of all shapes and sizes toward the opening of the cave, things he recognized like Abra, Makuhita or Geodude. None of the Pokémon really minded him, a few of the more timid Pokémon shied away, but there were plenty just going on about their business, just another trainer on their way though, nothing special about him. For a moment he thought about catching one but decided not to in favor of moving in and out of the cave as quickly as possible. The trainer moved along, studying his surroundings for the rare stones. Not one to be found thus far, but of course this part of the cave probably would’ve been picked clean of its valuables ages ago. No chance of finding anything up here, he’d have to find his way down into the darker areas. Allen turned back to look at the entrance, the light was fading fast; he’d have to rely on a flashlight and his Pokémon soon. Unfortunately the only Pokémon that could provide any light wasn’t exactly cooperative. In fact the only time she ever had been was in the middle of a battle and she was in danger of fainting. Hopefully she wouldn’t have to be used and he could make it through the cave… Though, this would the perfect time to train her. AUGH, all this internal dilemma nearly made him miss the drop off only a mere few feet ahead. “Wow, that would’ve been bad.” The redhead peered into the inky darkness, shifting himself to squat near the rather large hole in an attempt to get a better look… Nothing. He whistled quietly, the sound echoing around faintly, “That is dark.” The simple and completely obvious statement made him chuckle and he reached into his bag to grab the flashlight he made sure to pa- No. No, no… Where was the flashlight!? “Oh boy…” He huffed, pulling the strap over his head and setting the bag on the floor to rummage through the contents. Healing items, balls, a change of clothes… He even checked in the pockets containing things he’d completely forgotten he had. With a heavy, frustrated sigh, he straightened up the items, slung the bag back onto his shoulder and pulled Ubella’s Pokeball from his belt. The Pokeball created a bright white flash that settled on the floor, showing the little Larvesta on the ground. She huffed, looking up at her trainer.
“Look, I thought I’d brought a flashlight, but apparently I didn’t.” He kneeled to the Pokémon and pleaded, “I have to get this done, would you please light up the cave?” turned slightly away, looking to the floor as if considering his argument. Hesitantly, she nodded to him, bringing a grin to her trainer’s face. She grunted again and climbed to his shoulder. A couple of her little horns came alight with small flares, pretty effectively lighting the immediate vicinity, “Awesome.” He gave a thumbs up and grabbed hold of the ladder leading downward.
. . . …

Another uneventful and undetermined amount of time later, he’d made it extremely far down in the cave, the air was thick with moisture and cold. Very cold. Ubella’s flame was very welcome in the situation, but kept going out thanks to the water in the air. Allen huffed, “Let’s take a break, we’ve been down here for at least an hour searching for these stones…” He reached up to wipe the sweat from his forehead on his sleeve. He picked the Pokémon from his shoulder and set her in his lap, “Thank you for all the hard work you’re doing.” She huffed and turned away, “So tsun tsun.” He teased weakly. Then the flames on her horns went out again causing Allen to jump and let out a squeak, something he was so glad no one else would hear or even know about. “Thanks for the heads up.” He voiced sarcastically, looking around in the darkness. Slowly a sound came into existence, a low, dull pattering and the occasional pang of cold metal hitting rocks. Must’ve been Aron feeding or battling or something. But no, that can’t be right. He listened harder, trying to determine which way to turn his head to get a better fix on the sound. He sucked in a breath and held it in. Left? Right? Up?? He let the breath out and hung his head in disgrace. “Ubella do you hear it?” He could feel her nod against his leg.

“Do you have any idea where it’s coming from?” A few moments later she jumped up and cried out, the sound echoing around, “What is it??” He picked her up and stood up, she wriggled in his grasp, trying to move away. “What??” Just then he noticed a light approaching from the darkness, “The heck?” He squinted and voice coming from the same direction yelled out.
“RUN!” It caused Allen to jump again, it voiced again, “RUN QUICK!” Allen took a step back. And started to turn, then a bright light shone from a far bend in the cave. He could make out a human figure running toward him the light coming from their shoulder. Then he noticed a bunch of shimmers of reflected light behind that. His eyes narrowed more before the voice, much louder now, yelled again, “RUUUUNNN!!” It caused the Team Aqua member to jump and spin, taking off away from the person running.

“Ubella! Flamethrower!” The little Pokémon’s mouth erupted with flames spewed straight forward, creating a line of sight for him to follow, also illuminating the ladder going up only a few paces ahead. “One more time!” He called out and the little Pokémon lit up the cave again, he grabbed hold of the ladder just as the footsteps closed in, he moved up the ladder as fast as he could so the person running could grab hold too. He looked down to see the silver haired person just barely get his feet up off the ground as a massive herd of Aron began stampeding across the floor beneath the two of them. Luckily they ran around the ladder so there was no chance of the only way up collapsing. Allen sighed heavily, easing up on his grip of the ladder as the last of the Aron passed by. The Silver haired man sighed as well, “That was exciting.” Allen said eliciting a chuckled from the other.
“Indeed. I actually never knew the Aron here to stampede like that.” The man replied. The two of them climbed back down, “Magnemite, Flash again.” And then a bright light lit the area surrounding them Allen turned as his feet finally touched the ground.
“Thank you for the warning.” The Aquan turned to look at the man, he was at least three inches taller than Allen. He wore a black suit with a purple zigzag down the front and back of each side of his top and one silver ring around each of his sleeves. A red ascot tie completed the look; it added a nice bright touch to his overall dim color. Allen would have applauded his fashion sense were they not in this situation.
“No problem, I was kind of surprised to see light coming from this far into the cave. Normally people don’t come down this far.” He responded, looking Allen over. His eyes came back to the Larvesta sitting on the younger man’s shoulder, “That’s why the light was so dim. You used fire instead of Flash.”
“Yeah, I was a bit unprepared. “ He thought back to him having left the flashlight back at base, “My name’s Allen Embers.” He stuck his hand out to shake the other’s, who grabbed with a firm grip.
“Steven Stone.” The guy replied, “What brings you so far down in Granite Cave? Surely not training.”
“No no, not at all,” Allen put his hands up, “I’m looking for Evolution Stones, I kind of figured they would be found much further down here than closer to the top.” He chuckled sheepishly. Steven’s eyebrows went up in surprise as though he wasn’t expecting that answer.
“Is that so? Well, it just so happens I know exactly where a massive deposit of various Evolution Stones are in the cave. But why are you so interested in them?” e eyed Allen suspiciously. “It’s dangerous down here, you can be easily trampled by the Aron or the rare Lairon. And there are other places to find such rare stones.”
“Mm? Oh, It’s kind of…” Allen had to think quickly, there was no way he’d tell this guy that there he was sent to retrieve a stone via mission. “…It’s just important.” He shot a look at Steven that made the other stop his questioning.
“Alright, alright, I understand.” The silver haired man looked around for a moment. “It seems like the Aron have calmed down, which is fortunate because the only way to the cavern to find the stones is this way.” Steven thumbed in the direction he’d originally come, “You won’t mind if I tag along, aye?” Allen quickly shook his head and thanked the man, however he couldn’t shake a sneaking suspicion that Steven didn’t totally trust him.
. . . …

It took a few minutes to walk the length of the tunnel, which ended in a massive opening. The walls of the cavern were lined with colors, some sitting close to one another, reflecting light from Steven’s Magnemite creating an amazing array of colors all over the walls and floor. The one thing Allen did notice was that there was nowhere else to go after this, like this was the furthest point the cave went. He glanced back at Steven, who was watching Allen intently, he pretended not to notice and spoke up, “Thank you so much, Steven! This is so great!” He laughed innocently and stepped over to a vein of Fire Stone, reaching out examine it.
“Magnemite.” Steven said, and immediately, Magnemite blocked Allen’s reach toward the stone. Allen scrunched his eyebrows together and turned to face the older man. He started to question but was quickly interrupted, “You thought you’d be so sly. You’d just make your way down here and exploit this cave for your own benefit.”
“Dude, I don’t know what you’re talking abo-“
“Don’t lie to me, you Team Aqua scum!” Allen took a step back, his shocked expression slowly faded for a grin and one eyebrow raised.
“Nothing gets past you does it, Mr. Ex-Champion? Tell me, how obvious was I?” After a moment of silence with no answer Allen sighed loudly, “Well, I suppose since I’ve been caught, I’ll just go back to the surface and return a failure.”
“You don’t get it? Do you?” Steven’s words surprised Allen, who folded his arms and cocked a hip to the side, waiting for the other to go on. “These veins of Evolution stone are food for the Pokémon who live this deep in the cave! Sableye and Aron especially! Their diet mostly consists of these stones due to the lack of gemstones in this region!” Allen flinched out of his cocky expression, glancing to his right at a vein of Water Stone and back to Steven. The redhead remained silent, watching his opposition. “So you’re coming with me, you’re going to give up without resistance and we’re going back to the surface where I’ll promptly turn you in to the police. You’ll be charged with probably criminal activity and an assortment of other charges, and you’ll happily give the names of accomplices and the location of your little gang’s base of operations.” Steven finished with a breath of confidence.

Allen’s eyebrows went up again, and with them came his cocky expression, “Ooohh? Is that right? Well, I have a counterproposal.” His arms went to his waist, “I’m going to leave here, without your help and return to base with an interesting story for my mates.” Steven whipped a Pokeball from his jacket, tossing it hard into the air, from it, light rained down revealing a Shieldon. Allen looked down to the little fossil Pokémon, “I guess you’re challenging me then? Very well.” He snapped Dolstro’s Pokeball from his belt. The shiny Frogadier’s form landed and shimmered slightly, “Water Pulse!” the Officer called to his Pokémon, who reared his head gathering energy into a tiny ball between his front legs. He compressed the small ball further and forced it down, creating a small but powerful wave of water to slosh across the floor and crash into the opposing Shieldon, injuring it badly.
“Shieldon, quickly use your Take Down!” The little Pokémon regained its footing against the wall and pushed off, overcoming the wave and running full force at surprising speed to crash into Dolstro. The two of them fell back, having sustained massive damage from the collision.
“Dolstro, finish it with Dark Pulse!” The Frogadier responded by leaping into the air, and shooting a wave of darkness over the foe, fainting it upon impact. Steven quickly grabbed another Pokeball from his jacket after returning his injured Pokémon.

“Damn you. Go Nosepass!” The Pokémon stood perfectly still, waiting for Allen to make a move.
“Dolstro, take a break. There’s got to be a reason he chose this Pokémon.” Dolstro nodded, returning to Allen’s side, who readied another Pokémon for the battle, “Ecrelys! Use Waterfall!” He tossed the Pokeball which exploded a mass of water with a Kabuto riding along and shifted to crash into the enemy Nosepass. The Super Effective damage was obviously taking its toll, but wasn’t nearly enough to finish it off.
“Nosepass!” Steven called to his Pokémon, “Dischargehe Kabuto was at such a close rage, there was no way he could dodge. The electric current bolted straight through Ecrelys, knocking him out in one single hit. “That’s right; Nosepass’ ability means it won’t go out without a fight.” Steven mocked.
“Tch…” Allen held up Ecrelys’ Pokeball, returning the fainted Kabuto safely to his Pokeball, “That may be true, but now he’s exposed. Dolstro, Water Pulse!” The Frogadier hopped back into place on the floor, condensing another shot of water into a tiny ball to create a powerful wave of water.
“Nosepass, come back! Go Skarmory!” Steven quickly swapped his Pokémon, The wave washed over the flying type, but didn’t cause too much damage.
“Nice play, but it was ineffective! Dolstro, use Dark Pulse again!” The Frogadier swung one of his front legs around from behind releasing a massive blast of inky blast of dark energy to engulf the foe Skarmory, which cried out, but ultimately took the attack rather well.
“Skarmory, finish him with Steel Wing!” Skarmory’s wing glowed a bright silvery hue before it ran in, slashing its bladelike wings across Dolstro’s exterior. The Frogadier, who’d held his own well enough, finally fell back and was recalled.

“Alright.” Allen quickly calculated his remaining Pokémon, both were weak to Skarmory’s Flying type, but one of them was a Fire type, which was strong to the Steel type. “Ubella, he spoke to the Pokémon that remained on his shoulder, ready to fight.” Eager to fight, she hopped down, small flames burning at the tips of her horns.
“Take it out, Skarmory!” Steven practically screamed, “Air Slash!” Skarmory swung a wing around, slicing through the air so quickly it created a thin pocket of air to slash the little Larvesta’s body, dealing some hefty damage.
“Flame Charge!” Allen called, Ubella recovered from the damage quickly. Flames shot from her feet and she sailed across the cave, charging directly into Skarmory hitting it for super effective damage, it fell back but wasn’t done just yet. She came down, looking much more agile than before, “Alright! Ubella, give it a Flare Blitz!” This brought Steven’s eyes wide. Ubella burned brightly, massive flames scorching the ground around her feet and she charged in, powerfully tackling the foe. The attack knocked Skarmory, but the massive recoil fainted Ubella as well. Both trainers recalled their Pokémon.

Steven looked at Allen, as if considering, he knew there was no way he’d win, but he had to stop Allen, and Allen knew he was thinking it. He held up his previously hurt Nosepass’ Pokeball, a bright flash of light brought the Pokémon back to the field. Allen held up Troyt’s Pokeball, “This is Troyt, a Heracross. If you know your types, you’d know that he would be able to easily wipe your Nosepass off the face of the Earth. Return your Pokémon.” Allen stared at Steven Stone, for a moment, he could see that Steven wasn’t going to give up. But the tough expression faltered, and Steven’s shoulders dropped before returning his Pokémon. “Good choice.” Allen held up Ubella’s Pokeball and pulled a spiky ball of medicine from his bag, he held the Max Revive up to the ball, it was enveloped in red light and pulled into the Pokeball much like how when a Pokémon is withdrawn. A few moments later, Ubella emerged from the Pokémon, completely healed. She returned herself to Allen’s shoulder with a few flames burning at the ends of her horns. “So, about these stones,” Allen gestured to the walls of the cave and the various veins of different elemental stones. “Was that a lie? About them being the only food source, that is.” Steven sighed heavily, looking at the ground.
“Yeah.” Allen watched him for a moment, before nodding.
“Thank you.” He reached over, grabbing the smooth edge of a Water Stone crystal. He held tightly, brought up a foot and came down, knocking off enough of the crystalline substance to hold evolutionary properties. He stashed the stone away in his bag and walked up to Steven, who was still in his way. “That’ll be all.” Steven pulled his head up to look at Allen one last time before stepping off to the side.
. . . …

Back on the beach, Allen took in the fresh sea air, “Ahhh~!!! It’s so nice to be out of that dingy cave!” He stretched his arms high above his head and took in another deep breath. “Mm. Ubella, come back into your Pokeball for the trip back.” She nodded and allowed herself to be returned to her Pokeball. Allen messaged the Aqua Grunt to come back for him. While he waited, he checked his bag, checking out the Water Stone in the light. He went through all that to get this Water Stone, better be worth it.

Level 1
MISSION - Falling Far From the Tree

The Tree Shoppe in Fortree City hasn't paid its "Protection Fees" to Aqua in quite some time. Go to the Shop and enlighten the Shop Owner on why Team Aqua's "protection" is so important. The Shop Owner has two basic-stage pokemon.

(I will be honest this isn't my best work, but I hope it's decent enough. ^-^)

Origin stepped foot in Fortree City. He’d been sent here to deal with a shop owner. Apparently they paid regular “protection fees” and had failed to do so recently. Origin shrugged. He’d have thought they’d send someone a bit more experienced in this sort of thing, but he would be sure to get the job done. Origin climbed up a ladder into trees and began wandering across the bridges. His target couldn’t be THAT hard to find, could it? Fro and Trike were tucked away within their Poke Balls. He doubted it’d be easy to walk across the narrow bridges with those two constantly running around. Origin continued walking quietly when suddenly he tripped over something rather large.

He rubbed his face as he sat himself up. When he went to observe just what it was he had tripped on, he was baffled to see nothing there. “What could’ve done that?” He asked himself. Upon closer inspection, he noticed a strange red zig-zag suspended in midair. “Wait a minute, I think I know exactly what this is.” Origin pulled out his TADS and activated the Pokédex function in hopes to confirm his suspicion.

The TADS beeped with a charming female voice.
“Kecleon, the Color Swap Pokémon.” The TADS chimed. “It can freely change its body's color. The zigzag pattern on its belly doesn't change, however.”

Origin closed his TADS and grabbed a Poké Ball. “You could be rather useful. Alright, Trike go! Use Spark!”

Trike appeared in a puff of smoke from its ball. Its body began to course with electricity as it charged at the zig-zag pattern. At the last second, the Kecleon became visible and jumped out of the way. Origin cursed, this thing was fast. The Kecleon was quick to retaliate, but Origin wasn’t prepared for its next attack. Kecleon glowed with some sort of energy as rocks were lifted from the ground below and thrown straight at Trike.

“Oh crap, that’s Ancientpower!” Origin exclaimed. “Trike, dodge it now!” Unfortunately, the attack was coming from Trike’s blind spot and he failed to recognize the urgency in Origin’s voice. Trike was hit dead on, resulting in an instant KO. Origin recalled the Electric-type. “This is going to be a lot harder than I thought…alright, Fro it’s up to you!” Origin sent out his Froakie, who quickly used a Bubble attack. The attack hit dead on, Kecleon staggered only slightly. The Color Swap Pokémon was quick to retaliate, attacking with yet another Ancientpower!

Unlike Trike, Fro had two good eyes and amazing reflexes to compliment them. Fro quickly dodged before Origin even had the chance to give the command. “Fro, Quick Attack!” Origin told his Water-type. Fro became a blur as he sped towards the chameleon Pokémon. Kecleon was hit dead on, but far from defeated. With Fro now in close range, Kecleon had a chance to attack. The Normal-type’s small claws scratched Fro, a small cry emitted from the Froakie, but the attack only seemed to anger him. Still in close range, Fro released a powerful Bubble attack. Kecleon, dazed was now an easy target.

“Alright!” Origin called out as he threw a Poké Ball. Kecleon became trapped inside the ball, which began the obligatory shaking. One….two….THREE! The Kecleon was now his. Origin walked over to pick up the ball. “Welcome to the team, Leon.” Origin pocketed the ball. “Now back to the task at hand.”
The Tree Shoppe should be close by, he’d be sure to make quick work of it and be on his merry way. After several minutes of wandering, Origin found his target. “So this is the Tree Shoppe, eh?” He shrugged. “Wonder why we ‘protect’ it.” With that, Origin headed inside. The Shop Owner sat behind the counter polishing some of his merchandise. A nametag on his apron read “Bruce.” Upon hearing Origin’s entrance, Bruce stood up to meet whom he thought was a customer. As soon as Bruce saw the Aqua Emblem on Origin’s jacket, his expression changed. “Git outta here ya Aqua scum! Don’t need the likes of yous around here!” He roared in a slightly uneducated accent.

Origin didn’t show any signs of emotion towards the man. “Look Bruce, Team Aqua does good work protecting your little shop, Arceus knows why, but either way you have some money to fess up.”

“No ways is you getting’ any more of my money! I gots my own problems to worry about ya know!” Bruce retorted.

“If you won’t cooperate, I’ll be forced to make you.” Origin sighed slightly. He pulled out Fro’s Ball and threw it into the air, Fro popped out and landed on the counter with an intimidating stare.

“Pffft, ya think that little thing is gonna scare me? I eat Froakie for dinner!” Bruce laughed. “If it’s a battle yous want, it’s a battle yous’ll get!” He said as he pulled out his own Poké Ball. Origin and Fro retreated to the other side of the shop so there’d be room to battle. Bruce threw the ball and in a puff of smoke, a Poochyena appeared.

“Alright Fro, let’s make short work of this, Quick Attack!” Origin commanded. In a blur of light, Fro sped towards the Poochyena and tackled it. The two rolled in a flurry of claws, teeth, and fists until they eventually ran into a wall.
“Poochyena, use Bite!” Bruce told the Dark-type. Poochyena took advantage of the close range and sunk its teeth into Fro’s arm. Fro cried out in pain.
“No time to worry about that, Fro use Bubble!” Origin told his Pokémon. Fro quickly recovered and sent a barrage of Bubbles into Poochyena’s face, point blank. The Poochyena didn’t stand a chance, it was already down before Fro had even finished the attack.

“Is that all you got, Bruce?” Origin said mockingly.

Bruce recalled the fainted Poochyena and picked out another Ball. “Try this on for size then!” In a puff of smoke, Bruce sent out his second Pokémon, a Murkrow. “Murkrow use Night Shade!” The Dark-type let loose a torrent of dark energy towards Fro, who got the full force of the blow. Fro skidded back, recovering from the attack.

“Don’t let that slow you down, Bubble!” Origin said to Fro. Fro nodded, letting out a flurry of bubbles towards Murkrow, who swiftly dodged the attack. Origin cursed. “It’s almost as fast as that Kecleon, try another Bubble!”
“Murkrow, Peck it!” Bruce said. What the Murkrow had in speed, it lacked in intelligence. It went straight into the cloud of bubbles and took extensive damage.

“Don’t give it a chance to recover, Quick Attack!” Origin advised. Fro was once again a blur as it tackled the Murkrow at high speeds. The Dark-type Pokémon struggled to maintain flight, but clearly still had some fight left in it.
“Come on Murkrow, another Peck!” Bruce said, trying the exact same strategy. Murkrow swooped towards Fro from above, but it was no good. Fro quickly dodged, causing the Murkrow to crash into the floor. Disoriented, it was now a perfect target.

“Quick Attack, once more!” Origin commanded. Fro sped towards the Murkrow and landed a direct hit, causing the Darkness Pokémon to faint. Judging from Bruce’s body language, he had no more Pokémon to call upon. “Looks like I’ve won, we’ll be expecting our check soon.” Origin said mockingly as he recalled Fro and left. The battle had caused some damages to the Tree Shoppe, Origin only hoped that got the message through to him.

“Time to head back to base.” Origin said to himself as he walked back the way he had come.

I'll give it a pass. The anime-style of battling is quite interesting to read, but seems a little overpowered with the dodging and critical strikes. I would try to balance that part out a little better, especially when you start tackling more difficult missions where the odds won't always be in your favor. As for length, it's not too short, not too long. Just right for a mission of this level. For some reason it says level 5 in your post, but this is a level 1 mission. One thing is for sure, I'd expect an actual level 5 mission to be much longer. Keep the Kecleon and the 500 PD. Hope to see some more missions from you. smile

Having returned from his first mission and with an additional Pokémon, Nun felt a little tired, but happy overall. Quick visit in a local PokéCenter resulted with both his monsters back to perfect health and ready for whatever future might bring.

Back at home, Nunctanemus decided to study Pokémons more. Like everyone, he obviously knew what they were, but never really paid much attention to that topic. No, in his free time after work, Nun would much rather play some computer games. The man read what he could find on the web about Squirtles and Shinxes, and then decided to turn on the strange machine he received for the first time.

After a beep and some happy music, the screen turned bright. Menu was simple, but had two interesting options: map, which gave the current location of the device, and mission board. Nun decided to try the latter, promptly selecting it when it appeared. Again, Nunctanemus was given some things to choose from, but one really caught his attention: "Flame on!" This seemed pretty exciting and resembled some computer RPGs he played before. The fact he possessed a Water type Pokémon only sweetened the deal for Nun.

After quick search, N learned that he could find some Fire type Pokémons on Route 22, near Viridian City. Since the man was free for the weekend anyway, he decided to book the two-way train ticket for Saturday, sure he would be able to complete his mission in less than one day. Having all this planned, the man prepared all the things he needed for the trip and returned to his normal life.

He felt rising excitement during the course of the week and on the Saturday morning he was more than ready to face any Fire monster he would meet, be it big Moltres or small Vulpix. Arriving in Viridian, N was amazed by how green the city was. For a home-bird like him, experiencing so much nature was something not normal, yet very soothing. With smile, Nunctanemus set off to Route 22.

It didn't take the man long to find his target - a beautiful Ponyta. "Let's do this, Drop," the man said, sending his Squirtle to the battle. "You know what do to. Water Gun, full power!" Drop was a little startled by a Growl of a wild Ponyta and this caused him to miss his attack. Not wasting any time, Ponyta continued to attack, Stomping little Squirtle, which, in turn, caused him to flinch. "Focus, Drop, you can do this!" was all N could shout, watching his Pokémon being overwhelmed by the enemy.

Ponyta continued its attack, following with yet another Stomp. By that time Drop took quite a lot of damage, so Nun decided to withdraw him, not wanting his Pokémon to faint. "Ok, you won that round, Ponyta, but it's not over. Star, it's your turn!" commanded the man, sending his Shinx to the battle. "Use your Spark!"

Shinx did as her master ordered and Ponyta was struck by the spark, damaged for the first time in the battle, but still quite healthy and ready for a fight. It ran at Shinx, the horses body getting covered in flames, then tackled Star hard. "Hold out, Star, we'll win this. Bite!" shouted N.

Shinx jumped and clinched her teeth deep into Ponyta's leg. The attack seemed a good tactics, as the wild Pokémon looked much weaker now. Alas, the whole thing was far from over. Ponyta continued with Flame Wheel and Shinx started to experience the pain even more than before. Nunctanemus had to make a move right now, or this could end badly for Star. The man quickly grabbed Pokéball from his backpack and threw it at Ponyta. One blink, second and... Ponyta broke free from the ball, rendering it useless. Angered, wild horse Tackled Star.

"Sorry about this, Star," apologized N. "One more time and it'll be over," he tried to reassure his Pokémon. "YOU. ARE. MINE. NOW!" he shouted, throwing another ball at Ponyta... Only to miss it completely. In return, Ponyta opened it's mouth and shoot some fireballs at poor Shinx, making her unable to continue fighting.

With one Pokémon fainted and another one hurt badly, Nunctanemus had no other option than to leave in shame. Even though Ponyta was damaged as well, N just couldn't risk that his Squirtle would faint. Besides, due to prolonged fight he did not accounted for, he had to rush back to station to catch his train back home.

Upon the return to Fuchsia, Nun, always so happy, felt really soul crushed for the first time in his life. He spent the rest of his day in bed, even skipping his regular Alliance Raid in War of Worldcraft, causing the guild he lead - or rather, used to lead - fail for the first time in a year. Even though his reaction might have seemed very childish, he couldn't help it. He was already imagining himself as a world famous Pokémon trainer and the reality hit him hard.

On Sunday, he strolled around the town without a real purpose. Visits in his favorite tech shops did not help to get him out of his gloom mood. Suddenly, he noticed an old building he used to pass so many times without really noticing it even once - PokéShelter. Driven by an impulse, he decided to step in. Inside, an old lady was sitting by the desk, reading some book. She rose her head as he went in. "You're here to take some abandoned Pokémon with you, young man?" she asked. "I... I... Don't know. Probably not. No. I... I must be going now," Nun tried to avoid the conversation, slowly trying to back off. "Come on, no need to be shy. At least spend some time with those poor animals. Nobody visits them and they get lonely. I'm sure you'll find them lovely," said woman, smiling. "I'm Katherine, by the way, and I'm taking care of this place. What's your name, young man?" the old lady introduced herself. "I'm Nunctanemus, ma'am" replied N. Katherine did not comment on man's strange name, but rather took him for a walk around the shelter. There were many different kinds of Pokémon, some young, some old, different types and sizes. They did, however, have one thing in common - sadness in their eyes. N couldn't take it and closed his eyes.

Out of the blue, he felt something licking his hand. He opened his eyes only to find that an orange dog with black stripes on its back reached her head through the bars of the cage. "That's Lora, our female Growlithe," explained the old lady, "It looks like she likes you. Maybe you want to spend some time with her? I have found her dropped by our door two weeks ago and she never made friends with other animals here. I'm sure your company will help her" Katherine encouraged Nun. "I... I'm not sure if I should. I don't know much about Pokémons anyway..." Nunctanemus tried to back off the whole situation once again. All of this was getting a little too much for him, with the last day failure and now this. "You're not going anywhere, young man. Now take her to our visitor's room and have some fun!" the woman said and something in her voice stopped N from resisting.

Having given up, he took Lora to the room Katherine showed him. There, he just sat on the ground, looking at the Growlithe, wondering what he should do. The dog sat in front of him and was looking back at him. "So... I don't really know what to do with you, Lora, I'm sorry. I never had any animal at home and only recently got two Pokémons..." Nun's voice was a little shaky.

The dog seemed to understand the situation. She rose and grabbed one of the brushes that were placed on the desk, which she brought to N. "Oh, you want me to brush your fur? Well, I guess I can do this..." replied Nunctanemus and started taking care of the dog. Somehow, this made him loosen a lot and he started to smile after a while. He did not notice Katherine, who was secretly looking at the two through the window. 'I knew he was a good choice,' she though. 'And so did the dog.'

Hours passed by and it was time for N to go back home. He thanked the old lady and ran to his house, feeling light as feather and powerful as a young god. For the next two weeks, he returned to the shelter for at least an hour after the work, brushing Lora, helping feed her and taking her out for a walk. Without even noticing, he grew attached to the Pokémon he meet. And then, one day, Katherine came to him and said: "I think it's finally the time." "Time for what?" Nun was completely taken aback. "Time for you to take Lora with you, young man. Here, have this Pokéball," said the woman, passing N a regular Pokéball with the PokéShelter's name on it. "Go on and ask her if she want to join you."

Nunctanemus looked at the dog somewhat undecided. Was is really a good decision to take her with him? After all, he already failed his other two Pokémons on Route 22. Why would he do such a thing to someone else? He just stood there and did nothing.

Suddenly, the dog rose up and came to him. N felt a strange feeling once again. Somehow it reassured him that after winter comes the summer. After night comes the dawn. After every storm, there come clear, open skies. Now he knew what to do and it felt really stupid that he did not realize it earlier. He might have lose some contacts in the online world when he stopped playing WoW, but he earned a lifetime friend in the form of this Growlithe that was standing before him, waving her tail happily. "So, Lora, do you want to join me?" he asked. And the dog replied, without a hesitation, by jumping into the ball the man was holding in his hand. "I promise I will never fail you, Lora," Nunctanemus whispered to the monster inside the Pokéball. "Never."

With his new friend and a strong ally, N also completed his mission. He made a decision - to dedicate his life to helping Pokémons, making it a full time job. With Lora by his side, what could stop him?

A great length for your first mission. There was a nice bit of character development, which is something I always love to see. Usually, we prefer a Pokemon be captured by traditional means, but the way you enlisted that Growlithe to your team was heart-warming and it's nice to see your character slowly learning more and more about Pokemon care. It seems he learned a valuable lesson. Pass! Keep the 600PD and the Growlithe.

Level 1 MISSION - GTHO

A bunch of punks have been screwing around on Aqua turf for a while. Too long, if you ask me. It’s your job to run them off. There are three of them that have been seen with one or two Basic Stage Pokemon each.

Wailmer
Carvanha
Wingull

With every day Nunctanemus was learning more and more about Pokémons. After resigning from his daily job, he decided to help the PokéShelter that he get his Growlithe from. He thought of this as paying back his debts and having already saved some cash on his bank account, he could have afford to live a life of volunteer for some time at least.

N helped to repaint the building last week and today he planned to replace the windows, as the old ones were in a bad condition. He scheduled his meeting with Katherine at 9 AM, but due to traffic on the roads he arrived 15 minutes late, only to find the old woman in tears.

He quickly discovered the reason – all the windows in the building were broken and some vulgar words have been sprayed on the wall. Nunctanemus was speechless.

Who… Who did this?” he finally managed to say.

“I don’t know them,” cried Katherine. “They came earlier today and said something about this being their turf now. And Wingy – our Wingull – broke from his cage and I can’t catch him.”

Don’t worry, Katherine, I will take care of everything. Go back home and rest,” N reassured the woman. He was going to make those thugs regret everything they have done.

He had, however, to start with securing the place. He decided to postpone catching Wingy and focused on making sure all other Pokémons were safe. Fortunately, not much damage was caused inside, so he quickly finished cleaning the front room.

Next step was finding the Wingull. Nun checked all three rooms where the cages with Pokémons were being kept, but there was no sight of the flying monster. He checked bathroom and toilet, but without any luck. Finally, as he was to leave kitchen, a movement caught his attention.

The runaway was there, hiding behind some paper towels, trying to get some cookies out of the jar. N smiled at that sight.

Come here, little Wingy, be a nice bird,” said N while he tried to come a little closer to the Pokémon, hoping he’ll just catch him and put him back to his cage.

Unfortunately, the bird was not going to cooperate. Seeing the man getting closer to him, he changed his location, flying to the top of the fridge.

You’re not going to make it easy for me, are you?” Nunctanemus asked rhetorically. “Fine, so be it. Go, Star! Use your Spark, just be sure not to harm our friend too much.

Shinx came out of the Pokéball and, without hesitation, attacked Wingull. The spark landed, but resulted in the wild Pokémon getting more angry. He made an odd sound that caused Star to become confused.

Tackle him, Shinx. But remember, try to be gentle,” ordered N.

The Pokémon tried to follow his master’s orders, but was really confused and instead of Wingull, she hit kitchen cabinet. Wingy laughed and used his wings to inflict even more pain to the poor Shinx.

While the two Pokémons were busy fighting, Nun grabbed the net that Katherine used to catch bugs. It wasn’t the best tool for this kind of job, but he did not have time to look for something more appropriate. He quickly threw it over Wingull, catching the poor Pokémon.

Calm down, you’re safe now,” the man said as he transferred Wingy back to his cage. “See? It’s all fine now!

Having taken care of one problem, Nunctanemus had to find and get rid of those who caused today’s disaster. He started out by questioning neighbors, asking if they saw anything and how the attackers looked like. Nun managed to get good descriptions of the men he was about to look for, but nobody had any idea where they might have gone.

And then N came up with a great idea – use a Pokémon! Lora was a perfect candidate for the job – as a dog, her smell was much more sensitive than human’s, so she was capable of finding the evil-does.

Come on, Lora, good girl. Help me find those who made Katherine cry,” Nunctanemus said, explaining the situation to the Growlithe.

It did not take Lora long to pick up a scent. She ran so quickly that N, even though he rode his bike, was nearly unable to follow her. After 15 minutes of trailing through crowd and blazing through streets, the duo found themselves at the back of the old factory at the outskirt of the city.

There Nun saw three man sitting by the campfire, drinking alcohol. Their appearance matched the description he heard from neighbors earlier, so there was no doubt they were responsible for the morning’s tragedy. Now was the time to make them pay for what they’ve done.

Nunctanemus recalled his Pokémon and made his way to the campfire in such a way the trio would surely notice him. He did not wanted to attack from behind like a coward.

You know, guys, I always wondered – can’t we all just get along?” he started his speech as the thugs turned their heads and watched him. “But then one of my favorite singers answers that for me: ‘I said no, […] We can't all get along, it's too hard to hold hands when your hands are fists.’ I guess he’s right and now you’ll pay for what you did to the PokéShelter you attacked earlier.

“Ha, funny little guy you are,” replied one of the men, probably their leader. “I wonder how you’ll do that. You’re no match for us three.”

That would be correct, and this is exactly why my friends will help me. Go, Drop, Star and Lora!

“Ha, so you want to fight? Let’s show him who’s the stronger one, boys. Attack!” the thugs was eager to battle. Three new Pokémons entered the stage: Wailmer, Carvanha and Wingull.

Now, this would be easy for Shinx to handle if those were three separate battles. Unfortunately, the case here was 3 versus 3 fight and there was nothing N could do about this.

Shinx, you’ll take Wingull. Use Spark! Squirtle, Bite that Wailmer. Growlithe, use the Flame Wheel on Wingull!” N was quick to decide on his tactics.

The thugs weren’t thinking for a long time either. Three Water Pulses were directed at Growlithe, as the Fire type Pokémon was weak against those.

All the Pokémons attacked at once and the battle arena turned into a pandemonium. Spark, accompanied by Flame Wheel reached the Wingull and hurt him quite a lot, but not enough to take him down. Squirtle jumped quickly and bit Wailmer, sinking his teeth deep into the opponent’s flipper.

Unfortunately, none of this has stopped N’s foes. Three strong blasts of water hit poor Lora quite hard. It became obvious to N that the next round was going to be her last in this fight. Luckily for him, Nun spent some time earlier learning about what Growlithes can and cannot do.

Good job, team! We’ll win this! Star, Drop, continue with your attacks! Lora, use Reversal on that Carvanha!” shouted Nunctanemus.

This was his only chance. Reversal’s power grew with the amount of damage that Lora took, making this a powerful move against a vulnerable Carvanha. And indeed, Lora OHKO’d her opponent, but fainted soon to another Water Pulse from Wingull.

Star was quick to revenge her friend. Another Spark was more than enough to take Wingull out of the battle. Now the odds were turning into N’s team favor heavily. Wailmer, left alone against two opponents, hit Shinx with his Rollout attack, rolling over the cub, still having Squirtle biting him.

That’s it! Finish him! One more time, guys,” Nunctanemus ordered while he recalled the fainted Growlithe. “You did great, Lora. Thank you.

The next round of the battle turned into a massacre and Wailmer stood no chance. Nun has won.

“Argh, you might have won this round, boy, but we won’t forget this day. Beware,” the leader of the enemy trio cursed Nunctanemus as they leave in hurry.

Better pray we’ll never meet again or you won’t escape that alive,” shouted N after them. “Great job, team! We’ve made it! Now it’s time to come back, we still got some work to do.”

Upon returning to the city and after a visit to PokéCenter, Nunctanemus worked hard on cleaning the PokéShelter. Squirtle helped with cleaning the writings from the wall – a constant stream of water quickly wiped everything off. Meanwhile, Growlithe was using her flames to quickly dry the walls, so they wouldn’t get wet and damaged. Shinx’ Sparks allowed the gang to work even after the sunset and by 9 PM everything was as good as new, since glaziers arrived in the afternoon and replaces all the glasses.

Nun was so tired after all the events that he decided to spend his night in the PokéShelter. This place has become his second home anyway, so it wasn’t that strange after all. When he finally awoke, it was already past noon.

“So, our hero is finally awake. Good afternoon,” happy voice of Katherine greeted him. “I don’t know how, but you did an exceptional work here. I’m so proud of you!”

No problems, Katherine. I told you I’ll take care of everything, didn’t I?” replied the man and returned to sleep.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Last weeks were very good for Nunctanemus. He learned quite a lot about Pokémons in general and those he caught in particular. Volunteering in PokéShelter had helped as well – never has he felt so energized.

As he progressed, Nun also went back to using Internet more and more once again. Forums, websites, chats – he was in every place with some useful tips and tricks about battles. Similarly to his WoW addiction, he started to make some online friends.

And then there was this one girl he grew fond of. 23 years old, last year at university. Maybe not the prettiest, but very intelligent – a thing Nun valued highly. They’ve met in the chat with stream from some Pokémon battles and from there it exploded. Eve – because that was the girl’s name – was really in N’s type.

Recently, she passed an important exam, so they both decided to move their relationship from online to offline and celebrate her grade in a bar in the center of Fuchsia City. Actually, Nunctanemus wasn’t a big fan of the idea, but Eve insisted.

~*~*~

Nun arrived at the place on time and noticed the girl already waiting for him. She wasn’t tall – around 5’ 2” – but made up for it wearing high heels. A long black dress matched the shoes nicely, as well as the subtle jewelry. The only thing was Eve’s hair color – green. Nunctanemus was glad he decided to wear a shirt and suit trousers rather than some more comfortable clothes he’d normally pick.

Hi Eve, I’m Nunctanemus,” he said in what he hoped was a confident voice as he approached her. “Sorry to keep you waiting. And congratulations about the exam!

“Don’t worry, I have just arrived. Shall we go in?” the woman replied.

The bar was a fancy place and an expensive one. As they entered, the waiter lead them to the table that N had reserved earlier today. It was a nice place in the corner, a little separated from others, creating a romantic atmosphere.

“What will be your orders?” the waiter asked.

“I think we’ll have wine. After all, we’ve got a thing to celebrate,” replied Eve.

“I will bring it in a minute.”

Nun wasn’t really happy with the choice Eve made, but decided not to comment about it. The problem was that he wasn’t much of a drinker and tried to avoid alcohol in general.

Unaware of N’s disapproval, the waiter showed up with the bottle and two wine glasses, placed everything on the table and then disappeared. Nun got no other option then to pour the wine to the glasses.

The pair spent some time talking. They had discussed Pokémons, politics, even some sport. Overall, they had quite a lot of fun and nothing foreshadowed the tragedy that was soon to come.

It started really innocently. Eve teased N into a bet. “If you win, I’ll do whatever you want. If I win – you will,” she stated the prize.

No problems, I’m in. So, what we’ll bet on?” the man replied.

“How about… I know. A drinking contest! The first one to five glasses of beer wins!”

I… I’m not sure if that’s the best bet. Besides, I don’t really fancy drinking,” Nun answered, but felt that the control was slipping away from him.

“Come on, don’t you dare to back off now. If you do, that’d mean I won!”

What could he do in such a situation? He agreed reluctantly. It took only two beers to make him pass out, as he wasn’t really accustomed to drinking, let alone mixing alcohols. The last thing he remembered was a big grin on Eve’s face.

~*~*~

The next morning was a real hell for him. He did not know how he managed to reach his apartment, but he did remembered that the lost a bet and feared it’d cost him dear. “Water…” he mumbled, but was unable to get out of bed.

Fortunate for him, Drop was there to provide his master with all the water he could take. Cold shower hurt, but helped Nun regain his senses. “Thank you, Drop,” he said in much clearer voice.

It was almost noon and a high time to get going. He wondered what would Eve request from him and soon his curiosity was satisfied, as he found a note left on the kitchen table.

“Thank you for a fun night! Since you lost, I want you to stole one of Prof. Birch’s Pokémons.
And learn to drink!
Yours, Eve”

This was quite a shock for Nunctanemus. He reread the note twice, but it was still there – Eve asked him to steal a Pokémon. Sure, Nun did some bad things in the past, but he never stole anything.

N was thorn in two. On one side he clearly knew stealing was not the right thing to do, but on the other – his honor did not let him not fulfill the bet. ‘A promise is a promise,’ he thought to himself as he made the final decision.

~*~*~

The man travelled to and spent next three days observing Prof’s Birch laboratory. It wasn’t very well guarded, but there was always someone there. If N was to succeed, he had to be quick and quiet. He decided that the best time for a break in would be night and prepared everything he needed for the action.

From the observation he knew a lot about the electronic alarm system that was the first obstacle on his way in. Fortunately, he had a cure for that. “Star, go! I want you to use Spark on the fuse box. That way I won’t set off the alarm,” he instructed his Pokémon.

One Spark later the way was clear, no alarm was going to sound off anytime soon. And the lab without any electricity was darker than always. “b]Good start, now I need to get in,” said Nunctanemus.

He got that covered in as well. There was a big tree growing conveniently close to the lab. Visiting the spot in the daytime, Nun left the window on the floor open and now it was just a matter of climbing a tree to get in. Even for someone as untrained as him, this was not a very big challenge.

After breaking in, N immediately steered of to the last door in a long corridor. Again, daytime reconnaissance paid off – he knew where they kept Pokéballs with all the monsters that belonged to the laboratory.

Unfortunately, the door was locked and that was something Nunctanemus didn’t think of, but he was not going to give up that easily. Instead, he sent out Lora. “Please melt the lock for me,” he asked the Growlithe.

Lora was reluctant to follow the order, clearly not happy about her master getting into serious trouble. “Come on, Lora, we don’t have time for that. We can’t let anyone see us here, so we better hurry. Now, melt the lock,” N repeated.

Growlithe finally succumbed and used Flame Burst on the lock, which melted immediately. “Good job, Lora. Now it’s your turn, Drop,” said Nun, sending out his Squirtle. “Cool that thing so we can get in.

A stream of water brought handle to bearable temperature and the team was able to get inside the storage room. It was literally filled with different Pokéballs. “Wow,” a quiet sigh came from N.

Nunctanemus already decided he’ll grab a female Treecko for Eve. He thought that was a very cute Pokémon that the girl would like. Besides, it matches her hair color.

Securing the ball in his backpack, the man quietly left the place. As he was to jump out of the window, he called Squirtle again. “Drop, cover the floor with water, to cover our tracks,” he ordered and get outside.

Having made it safely out of the lab, Nun congratulated himself of a good, clean action. He managed to work out all of the problems while not alarming anyone about what he was doing. And to think it was his first time!

After he managed to get some distance from the laboratory, N decided it was time for a little break. He had to calm down and let the adrenaline go back to the normal level. Unfortunately, being his clumsy self, he accidently pressed the Treecko’s Pokéball’s button and the monster got out, rendering her old capsule useless.

The fight, as expected, went easily. Grass type was no match for Lora, a Fire one. After a few quick Flame Wheels, Nun sacrificed one of his own balls to catch the Pokémon. “You know what? I’ll name you Eve,” he said to Treecko after securing her in the Pokéball.

~*~*~

The next day N tried to contact Eve to tell her he managed to do what she requested from him. Unfortunately, she wasn’t answering the phone and the mechanic voice kept repeating: “The number you are trying to call is currently unavailable. Please try again later.” E-mails sent to her mailbox bounced off with error messages as well. She was nowhere to find online.

Nunctanemus was feeling really bad. So he risked so much for nothing? Why did she ask him to stole a Pokémon only to disappear in the mean time? Or maybe something has happened to her while he was away on the mission?

Two weeks later he found unsigned envelope in his mailbox. The letter he found inside shocked him:

“I’m sorry I had to leave Fuchsia in such a hurry. You did great! Keep that Treecko for me.
We shall meet again in future.
Yours, E.”

Nunctanemus sighed. His life was getting more and more weird…
