Jove tried to memorize the route they took, it wasn't that far away from the campus, and should be okay for visiting... But it was so loud in town. All the cars distracted him, and he didn't like crossing the road at all. He barely needed to be pulled when they appeared to have reached the house, the little ghost was all too willing to get off the street. But inside... it was a completely different world. There were so many colours, and everything was festive and decorative, it felt like a good match for his brother's bright personality. After one hesitant glance, shy with his head down as though asking permission, the little pup kicked off his boots and began to wander around the house. He touched the fabric of the couch and chairs, and looked out every single window he passed by. He looked in corners and touched shiny objects he saw, and raised his nose slightly as he sniffed the air in each and every room. He opened cupboards seemingly at random with the same serious intent. He ran up and down the stairs, occasionally pausing to look behind him, as though trying to see things from a different angle. And in the end, he returned to Ren and headbutted him in the chest. It was kind of scary, with so many rooms, and that strange-house smell that hadn't turned into big-brother-smell yet.

The house was definitely bright; Ren had decorated the majority of it himself, half to his own tastes and half to LW's. The result of this was a cacophony of colors that blended together in reds, golds, oranges, greens, blues, and purples in varying vibrant shades that hopefully wouldn't blind whoever saw them.
Ren bounced on the balls of his feet, flitting up and down the halls with his wings flapping as he followed Jove. Landing right beside him, next to the master bedroom, Jove's head poked his chest, and Ren wrapped his arms around his little brother and kissed the top of his head.
"I know, it's pretty crazy," he said with a gentle smile. He ruffled Jove's hair. "It's all very new and crazy and unexpected and not quite home yet, but it will be, soon. And you can come visit anytime you want, and when you graduate you could even live with me if you wanted!"

Jove felt a bit like he wanted to go home, but... he wasn't entirely sure where home was anymore. Was the school still home even if his brother wasn't there? And where would his home be when he had graduated, he would surely have to follow the same moving-out ritual and find a new place to be. Would this be his home? The pup rubbed his head against Ren, as if trying to absorb the answers through his hair. There was just so much space here, where was he supposed to go?

Ren smoothed a hand across the top of Jove's head affectionately. "It's a lot to take in," he said. "What with me moving out and everything, but..."
He trailed off, cleared his throat, and then said, a little too cheerily, "Do you want to eat lunch?"

Jove paused, one ear turning to listen. He didn't feel particularly hungry, not when there was so much rattling around in his head, but maybe something sweet would settle him down a bit. The little pup had an amazing capacity for many things, but perhaps first and foremost was his horrible sweet tooth. His little hand found Ren's again.

Ren's face flushed with pleasure, and he squeezed Jove's hand happily, tugging him in the direction of the kitchen.
"I have some spookies I made yesterday," he said excitedly, as he all but dragged his little brother around a table. "I'm hoping they taste okay, I haven't cooked on myself since I cooked with Alessa all those years ago, but I think I put the right ingredients in everything, but they might be a little burnt around the edges..."
He was rambling, Ren directing Jove to a chair and opening various cabinets. After a moment of rummaging he returned with a plate of lopsided spookies, pushing them hastily in front of Jove.
"Eat, eat," he said, a little too enthusiastically.

Jove was unusually passive and let himself be pulled along, finally taking a seat where his brother indicated. Okay, this was a start. This was a place he could sit in the kitchen. He traced the edge of the table with his fingers, and wiggled in place. The little pup's expression perked right up at the sight of the spookies, and his nose twitched. They smelled like spookies, and not burnt spookies either. If anything, they looked a little bit crisp around the edges but the middles still looked very soft. He reached for one and was about to put it in his mouth when he realized... this was very unlike his brother. Slowly he lowered the baked goods from his mouth. And stared at Ren with his most stern face. What are you up to, big brother? Why is lunch suddenly spookies?

Ren bounced up and down on his heels again, watching as Jove picked up the spookie -
- and then promptly put it down again, a suspicious look on his pale, freckled face that was so familiar and so adored.
Ren wilted.
"I'm," he said, and shuffled his feet in embarrassment. "I don't want you to think that I'll forget you," he finally blurted out, face flushing. "Just because I'm moving out doesn't mean that I don't totally still love you and want to be your big brother because I totally do."

Jove shoved the spookie into his mouth, and hopped out of the chair to give Ren a hug. He didn't say a word, the only sound was the soft munch munch from the spookie in his mouth, but he didn't let go right away. Not until he was finished the spookie, at least. He pulled away when he was ready, and grabbed the whole plate of spookies. Then he trotted off into the living room. He looked around a bit, nibbling on another spookie, but he kept glancing in Ren's direction. He had a spot in the kitchen. Where was he allowed to be in this room?

The hug was both unexpected and just what Ren needed. He dropped what he was currently holding (a hand towel) in favor of just wrapping his arms around Jove's shoulders and squashing him against his chest, his face buried in Jove's hair, because out of everyone (with the exception of LW), the only person capable of understanding him was his little brother.
And he was also the only person other than LW that Ren cared for the most in the whole world.
(He may or may not have gotten slightly teary.)
Ren let go with some reluctance, however watching Jove move from one room to the next, and then he followed him, hands stuck in his pockets as he caught the questioning look.
"You can go wherever you want," said Ren grandly, as though he had not been misty eyed and sappy only a moment before. "My home is your home."

That didn't help much... Had Ren forgotten how long it had taken for Jove to get used to just walking into his dorm room, instead of pacing and whining at the doorway? He was at a loss as to what to do. Wandering over to the couch with spookies in hand, he examined the cushions, and then looked back up at his brother with that same questioning expression. Then he wandered a little further along the edge of the couch before looking up at Ren again.

Ren shoved a spookie into his own mouth. "Dofjjow tuff?" he said, which in Ren translation came out to do you want to sit? He shuffled over towards Jove, plucked him up, and promptly set him back down on the couch again as easily as though he were in his foxfire form.
"It's a nice couch, isn't it?" said Ren, after an enormous swallow, brushing crumbs from his vest.

Okay, this was good, now he had a place to sit. Jove wiggled into place, letting his back rest against the cushions, squirming until he had found the comfiest spot. He set the plate of spookies on his lap, and then on the space next to him. He pulled his feet up to his chest and sat like that for a minute, just looking around the room, and then slowly slid to one side until he was lying down on the couch instead of sitting. He wiggled a little bit more, and pulled a pillow over to rest his head on. He could make this spot work. With the plate of spookies conveniently in front of him, he picked a second from the pile and began to nibble on it. Ren had never minded spookie crumbs on the furniture before, but Jove glanced up at his brother's face anyway, just in case.

Ren was clearly still nervous about Jove's opinion, since he was practically bouncing up and down on the couch. Either that, or he had just swallowed a springboard.
"Oh!" he finally yelled, and flung his arms around Jove, squashing him back against the cushions and probably sending cookies and crumbs alike flying everywhere. "Jove I am just so happy that you're here and I just love you so much and I can't wait for you to come visit - "

Jove would have choked on the spookie had he been a living, breathing creature. The little ghost had to limit his protesting to an undignified noise, and smacked Ren a couple times with a little fist. Gryphons were surprisingly heavy for airborne creatures!
Once he gave up fighting it, he sank a little deeper into the cushions. He could have let himself melt as flat as a pancake, become as soft and squishy as the couch around him, but his pride was offended merely at the thought of giving in and letting his form slip. Besides. Ren would probably fret and fuss over having squashed his most favourite little brother. He had to stay strong, for the both of them!
Jove let his head rest against the gryphon, and snorted gently. He was already visiting, wasn't he?
