Itzal groaned as he hit the ground, blood trickling freely from his nose. Kilian held Erionda close to him as he moved back away from his family. It pained him to know that it had to be this way. He closed his sockets as Erionda spoke. The emotion he heard in her voice tore at his heart as well. His arms tightened around her as his mother ran to his father’s side, holding a piece of cloth up to his nose. “Oh Kilian...” Nahia whispered as she made to move towards her son. His father’s fingers wrapped around her wrist, preventing her from moving closer to Kilian. “Dont. He’s obviously made his choice.” Itzal said as he spat blood out of his mouth.

Nekane glanced between the two groups, torn between them both. She owed her aunt and uncle everything. They had taken her in when her family had been destroyed. At the same time, however, she owed just as much to Kilian. She suspected she even owed the hybrid as well. Her memories flooded back to the story that Kilian had told about how he’d gotten the water that had saved her life. Had this been the same female?

“Nekane, lets go.” Itzal demanded of Kilian’s cousin. She squeezed her eyes shut as she let out a deep breath. Running over to Kilian she hugged him tightly, tears starting to stream down her face. “I”m sorry.” She mumbled as she pulled back and looked over at Erionda. “Please, take care of him.” With that, she ran back over to her aunt’s side.

Kilian’s arms tightened their grip around Erionda as his father moved closer to him, stilled only by Nahia’s hand on his arm. Itzal grunted as he looked down at his arm. “Do not let me ever see your face again.” He said as he sheathed his sword and glared at the pair.

Erionda allowed Kilian to move her. A painful expression on her face as she glanced towards Kilians parents. A small hope flickered as she watched Nahia move closer. She didn’t appear threatening like Itzal had. Her heart froze as Nahia was stopped from approaching. Rio’s fingers gripped at the back of Kilians clothes. Made his choice? Her? A small hybrid over his own family? She glanced up at Kilian with tears in her eyes. Why? Why would he sacrifice his family relationships for her? Wincing at the sound of spit, Erionda turned to look back to watch the older Oblivionites.

Curiously Erionda glanced towards the smaller of the three. Did she struggle internally about what was happening? She didn’t seem to readily accept what the man was saying. No, seemed to be demanding. As Itzal’s demanding voice called at the girl Erionda’s eyes widened as she put the pieces together. Was that the cousin Kilian had spoken of? The one she had helped him save by leading him to the lake on Serenia? Shifting as the girl moved towards Kilian, Erionda wanted to pull away. To give Kilian time to be with her before they were separated. His grip around her was tighter than before and she wasn’t able to pull away. That didn’t stop her from creating eye contact with the girl as she spoke to her. How could she take care of Kilian? It was he, who always seemed to be taking care of her. She nodded her agreement, her eyes dancing over Nekane. Was the father like this at home? Her father had never been so horrible, so controlling, so demanding in any of her memories of him. Was it just a difference in customs from Dovaa to Oblivionite?

Erionda wanted to retort to Itzals harsh words. To tell him off for being so proud. To let him know it would be his very downfall. That a time would come when he would need Kilian. And to just throw away a powerful son was like tossing away his own sword when a strike was about to hit him. It hit her hard that a father could be so cruel. That he had been separated from his family all because of her. And her love for him. Turning her face to press her nose into Kilians neck she closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. His scent was still there, but there was also an underlying scent of blood.

Turning to make sure the Oblivionites had left Erionda pushed back slightly, her fingers delicately explored the fabric on his neck. Her forehead creased with concern. “Kilian... I’m sorry... It’s my fault you’ve lost them.” Guilt racked her voice as she spoke. Her nimble fingers seeking out the edge of the fabric to roll it down and expose his neck. He had been cut! Maneuvering around his arms Erionda searched the small bag she had equipped to her hips for times like this. Pulling out a small vile Erionda winced as she opened the thick goo. Dipping her finger in she winced. “T-this might sting a bit.”
