"D'aww, you'd wait for me? I feel so loved!" There was enough playfulness in his voice that, hopefully, Scott would take it as a joke.

"Naw, I think you should be confident in yourself! You are brilliant, even if you cannot see it yourself. After all, Diamonds have no idea what they look like, so that's why there are people around to gander at their splendor instead! Okay, that sounded stupid.. Hrm.. Let me say that again.. Hrm.. Sometimes it's hard to certain of what we are, what our potential can be, so that's why there are other's who can help us figure it out! Naw, it still sounds kinda silly. Simply put, I'm cheering for you, and I know you'll be fantastic, my friend!" Oh, that grin on his face just wouldn't go away! It was stuck like someone had taped it up there! But all the same, he was excited to have a reason to smile so widely! Following the boy, he headed back out to the living room.

"Do you think I could Pick up Paul? He's just too cute, I just want to hug and squeeze him like a teddybear. ... Good god I sound like a girl."

It was hard for Scott not to blush, but it was incredibly easy to hide it thanks to his golden locks, as he turned away, hopefully just in time for Isha not to notice how bright his cheeks were suddenly. Even if Isha felt he was floundering, Scott knew what he meant and his intent was what made him smile as he scratched the back of his neck. "Well... good to know I have someone in my corner... you know, that isn't related to me."

Confidence was just something that Scott wasn't accustomed to, and receiving compliments was an entirely different ballgame for him, but he gladly accepted them for now, even if it was only temporary. His question made Scott blink but his confusion was only momentary before he bobbed his head up and down. "He knows he's cute and lavishes the attention, so go ahead! Just be careful that you don't squeeze him too hard..."

Speaking of the little devil, Paul came running towards them the minute they returned to the living room, wearing Scott's homemade King Ghidorah hat and barely able to see Isha, coming awfully close to bumping into his legs as he shouted with excitement. "They decided to play Shoots and Latters!"

"It's Chutes and Ladders," said John, as he finished setting up the board game. "And it was that or Trouble. I prefer Chutes and Ladders and Scott said I could choose!"

He spoke in a manner that dared others to defy him, and the scowl on George's face made it clear that someone would have to play peacekeeper real soon. Scott stepped up to bat, raising his voice and trying to speak with some authority before things got out of hand. "We'll have enough time to play everything, so don't worry. Maybe the next game we can play is Trouble? Is that okay, Isha?"

"Of course. I'll always be cheering you on, even if we're not exactly in the same place. That kind of faith in someone doesn't just vanish because someone isn't there anymore. Don't think I'm saying something eerie or what not! Nope, It's just me talking about college!" To himself, Isha's words seemed to have become more and more ominous in the past few weeks. There was no reason to fret his friend, so it would be best for him to allow himself to be more careful with his words..

As soon as Paul came to them, Isha went to his knees again, grinning at the little one.

"Shoots and Latters, huh? I don't think I've ever played that before! Care if I pick you up for a little while, Paul? I don't know how to play, so maybe you can teach me, and be my partner! Unless you don't know either, then we can partner up with Scott, since he's so cool, right? And then we can play Sorry, which I haven't played in a very long time! I'm quite excited for all of this!"

Isha wasn't the only one that felt that way, and Scott couldn't help but flash his friend a curious look. He knew him to be talking about college, but there was just something about the way he said it that made Scott weary, but with the children around them, he knew better than to bring it up. Maybe once the others were asleep he'd see if there was something bothering his friend, but for now, Scott was determined to keep their night upbeat and entertaining for everyone, and that required his full attention.

It seemed like Paul and Isha were practically destined to be friends, as the bouncing boy hopped up and down with excitement before waving his arms about, a clear indication that he was perfectly okay with the attention he was getting. "I played and won once. I'll teach you everything! We'll be winners!"

Mikey laughed, his mockery merely playful and not at all malicious, as he scooped up the dice and threw them down for the first roll of the game, not even waiting for others to claim their pieces or even take their seats, much to Scott's dismay. "That's because I let you win. But you're a big boy now, so if you're gonna win, it'll have to be on your own! I won't make it easy for you this time!"

"We play a little differently since there's so many of us," Scott said, pulling a seat for both Isha and Paul before taking his. He handed Isha a misplaced Monopoly piece as he explained. "I'll do my best to keep you up to date with the rules and such, so feel free to ask. And don't mind Mikey... he's competitive, and he'll make you work for that victory. You good?"

Isha immediately scooped up the little one when allowed to, giving him a little squeeze before shifting him over to his hip as they headed over to where the game was set up.

"We'll be the best of winners, right! We'll be fantastic and the best team! And even if we don't win, we are still the best team, because we'll be the only team, right?" With the chairs pulled out for him, he set the little one down in his own, pushing his chair alittle closer to Paul's to make sure he was able to hear him if the little one decided to whisper the instructions to him, but still close to Scott, as he was told the rules were different.

"I'm good, I'm good! Just make sure to keep me posted! I don't want to lose because I didn't know What was going on! But certainly Paul will keep me informed, right?"

Scott was pleased that all of them seemed to be getting along just fine, even with his sibling's competitive nature, and he was thankful that his friend seemed to have such an easy going personality. He didn't want to imagine how bad things would get if Mikey rubbed Isha the wrong way. He never saw his friend angry, and he had no intention of allowing it to get to that point, either.

"Best team ever," Paul said in response, happy as can be and he ended up sitting on his knees so that he could see over the table, and he grabbed the car figurine from the monopoly pile. He handed it to Isha before reaching for the spinner, making his proclamation clear before any of the others could protest. "Guests go first. Isha, put piece at the start. I spin!"

John looked to object, but Scott cast him a glare, one that warned him to not DARE, and he sunk into his seat without a word. George and Mikey were oddly compliant, even when Scott tried to explain the rules of the game to their guest. "We each take a turn spinning the spinner, and the goal is to make it to the end. You want to avoid chutes, which will send you back, but you want ladders because they'll move you ahead. Paul, why don't you let Isha spin first? You can move the piece about the board instead?"

Paul wore such a scowl, but he surrendered the spinner without being told twice, and he gave Isha one simple demand. "You better roll good, okay?"

Cooro Cooro
Roll 2 10-sided dice! The first roll is how far you move your piece.
Second roll says if you landed on a chute, or a ladder, or just a regular piece.
1, 2 = Chute. Move back 1 space.
9, 10 = Ladder, Move ahead 1 spaces.
3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8= Nothing, stay at the space we're on.
(For the sake of our sanity, will do three rounds. My roll will be on the next one and I'll act as a whole for kids. One with the most points wins.)

"Alright! We have seven! That's a good roll, right?" Isha went ahead and allowed for the little one who sat beside him to move their little piece around. They were off to a good start, from what he could tell, though the little scowl he received from Paul did bring his mood down just a wee bit. Nothing big, just enough to make him want to apologize profusely for taking away something from him, even if he was the guest.

"Next time, we'll spin even better, alright?"

Paul counted the number on his fingers twice before finally moving the piece, and Scott was so happy to see that he nor George needed to help Paul get the number right. He was of the appropriate age to know how to count, but it was just like Scott to worry like that. "Yup! Yup! Seven is a good number! Best number! Almost there already!"

"Naaah, you still got some way to go," Mikey said, chiding the combined team of Isha and Paul but his grin making it clear that he meant no harm to either of them. As Scott warned, he was just being extremely competitive, and this was his way of playing along. He reached for the spinner, giving it a spin before passing it to John so that he could move his piece. John passed it to George, and then George to Scott, with no hitch in the plans. "I'll win yet!"

'So far, so good,' Scott thought, looking at his friend and flashing him a smile before spinning for himself, and he then passed it to Isha. "Good luck!"

"Thanks, Scotty, but I don't know if I need luck! With Paul's skill, well, I think we'll do just fine~" With a flick, Isha sent the spinner twirling around and around once more, grinning widely at Paul as it landed again.

"Would you look at that! Sevens again! I think that may be our lucky number tonight, huh? You know what to do! I can just taste victory right now, can you, Paul?" The boy found himself pleased not only with the sense of his impending victory, but with how cozy, how loving the environment felt around him! He honestly was beginning to think that if he was surrounded but this much love at his own home, maybe he would not have to take the path he was heading down.

"It'll take a great shot to beat us now!"

Paul hopped up and down in his seat, completely over the moon at the advances their piece was making over the competition. He gave a triumphant shout, not meaning to come off as boastful though perhaps that was some of Mikey's bad habits rubbing off on the youngest of the Erlea, and Mikey only had himself to blame. "Seven is an awesome number! It's my favorite number! Seven, seven, seven!"

The other Erlea boys were doing somewhere between fair and mediocre, and Scott wasn't too surprised that he had landed on a chute. He gave an overdramatic cry, playing out his fate, much to the delight of George and Paul. "Oh no, I fell down the trap down! Heeeeeeeeelp!"

"OH NO, NOT SCOTT!" John shouted, playing along and flailing his arms around, grabbing his piece and pretending to mourn the loss of his older brother. George, Paul and even Mikey, as disgruntled as he was for being a few spaces behind Isha and Paul. "NOOOOO, I SHALL AVENGE YOU, BIG BROTHER!"

The near synchronous reaction of the little Erleas both startled and delighted Isha, who bit his lip trying to hold back an overly large smile.

"I'm not looking to avenge him, I'm here to win! Sorry Scott!" And yet, with as much as he talked, his spin was not nearly as good as the last two, and with a wince, he turned to the littlest Erlea, nervously smiling at him.

"Well.. atleast not chutes, right?"

Scott pretended to be wounded by such a statement, knowing it to only be a harmless game and that if there was actual serious trouble, Isha would have done all the he could... or at least, that's what he told himself. He couldn't help but allow his thoughts to travel down a dark path, the fear of his friend being hurt either at his own hands or another officer's still clear and present in his mind. He had George to thank for pulling him away from such thoughts, though, as he tugged at Scott's shirt and whispered. "I just spun. Your turn... going to the bathroom."

"Thanks," Scott said, patting the blonde's shabby hair and letting him run off, and he didn't want to admit that he had missed not only Isha's blotched spin and Paul's reaction (which was a raspberry with an immediate 'just kidding' to follow after it), but Mikey's, John's and George's roll. He flicked the spinner and inwardly cheered, before giving another groan and flailing his arms in the air. "Whaaaaaat, another chute? Someone REALLY doesn't like me!"

He moved his piece, somehow making it ahead of Isha and Paul still, but just short of Mikey, who had stolen the victory. And he allowed everyone in the household, maybe even the neighborhood know about it, as he jumped to stand on top of his chair and gave a shout. "I win! My win! Mikey's win! Not John's win! Yeahhhhhh!"

"Alright, alright, settle down. The world will forever know of your victory here, Mikey, he who somehow manages to miss all of the chutes," Scott said playfully, trying to reign in his brother's enthusiasm, and he looked to Isha, hoping that he wasn't taking it too personal. "So, you want to play another game, or should we watch a movie?"

"Awww! We lost.. But that's okay, Paul, we did awesome!" Isha leaned over and squeezed the littlest Erlea one the game ended.

"Congrats, Mikey! That was great!" Isha, ever the good and patient sport simply gave an applause to Mikey's win, perhaps inflating the ego the boy had. Butit was all in good fun!

"We can watch a movie, then dinner! Or dinner than A movie. Or Dinner AND a movie, I don't know how your family does dinner."

Paul was too young to understand what shame was when it came to losing at a board game, and it was for the best, as the boy was simply too excited to have played the game to remember to be angry that they had not lost. If anything, Isha's excitement and Mikey's boisterous victory cry had rubbed off positively on the youngest, as he gave a cheer. "Yeah! Mikey's win! Yay! We win next time!"

He bounced up and down a little on the chair, but before he could either jump off the chair or fall, Scott grabbed him and threw him on top of his shoulders. Within seconds, the four year old was clining to his long, golden locks, forcing a pained wince from Scott's lips but keeping it short, wearing a grin. In response to Isha's question, he explained, "Normally we clean off the table and we eat as a family, but that's only when the rents are here. How's pizza sound to you guys?"

It was a question that was geared towards the other children, and it was as though a chorus of hungry birds flown into the room, as each one started yelling what kind of pizza they wanted. Even George from within the restroom was yelling at the top of his lungs, eagerly requesting a meat lovers. It seemed unanimous from the younger Erleas, and he looked to Isha for approval. "They left some cash for pizza, so it's on us. What kind you want? We can get a movie started while we wait for the delivery guy..."

Then Mikey chimed in, elbowing John before the two of them ducked behind the table. "Or delivery girl."

Far quicker than Isha could manage to say anything about Paul potentially falling, Scott had already scooped him up, hoisting him onto his shoulders. What strength it must have taken to do such a thing so smoothly, it must happen quite often, the boy thought to himself, smiling as he listened quietly to Scott and his brothers offer their opinions on dinner.

"Well, order you like, I'm not picky at all. Consider me a pizza swiper, I'll just take a bit of everything! I do like the idea of a pizza and movie special! Do you guys have anything you want to watch in particular?" He tried to ignore the talk of 'delivery girls' or the awkward feeling that was creeping up the back of his spine. Surely, the children didn't mean it at all, how could they even know that he had rather peculiar feelings for their big brother? Oh, but it certainly did hurt; with each mention of another potential girl he could meet feeling like a heel was pressed forcefully into his chest. But not matter, not a single matter at all! Best friends were to be supportive, no matter what!

"A girl, huh? If she's cute you should ask for her number. I can see a bad pick up line forming already~"
