Asking the obvious question wasn't going to do AJ much good since Shadow was apparently still in the ring living up the fact that he was in complete control of a match only he was truly native to anymore. The obvious reply was Shadow galavanting up to AJ for some stomping action at the ropes.

This was a poor start for the confident AJ Warner. Stomps were raining on his back like drops of water from the sky... that were also raining on his back. The ref began to count to five as Warner had a hold of the ropes while the mudhole was almost made.

The ref got to a count of 4 and then Shadow broke off the stomping as he got separated from AJ by the ref. There wasn't much to be done about as Shadow took a breather from delivering an old fashioned smackdown.

AJ pushed himself from the canvas, digging his palms deep into the mat to avoid making a fool of himself and falling. Warner stood up with the ropes and looked to Shadow, a bit surprised by how much of a challenge this would be.

The challenge should have been expected, and AJ should have spent more time preparing. Otherwise he wouldn't be in this predicament. But since he was, Shadow would use every opportunity available to him to punish AJ. So he grabbed AJ's hand and attempted to sling him across the ring into the opposite ropes and catch him on the rebound with a flying shoulder tackle.

Warner flew across the ring but as his back hit the ropes, he wrapped his arms around them to avoid the rebound. After an awkward second, AJ waited to see if Shadow was impatient and/or confident enough to try to go back on offense.
