Eamonn's use of his sword to halt it did exactly what he asked for, the monster tugging to free the blade while also having dealt with Lia. It hadn't turned it's attention back on Eamonn until having fully dealt with Lia, and at that point it was too late for it to hope to stop Eamonn. Aed was summoned, and the monster seemed none to please at it's presence. It looked like it was preparing to swing down on Aed when suddenly it's entire upper body caught flame. A bestial roar followed as it flailed it's arms. Lia ducked her head, Yute crouching down next to her to avoid getting knocked away. The flames left scorch marks across it's flesh and it seemed beyond angry about what had just transpired, Eamonn's fire only furthering this. It was still focused on Aed as it crossed the sky, swinging up at it though just missing the gf. Eamonn was yelling for Lia to move, but the girl's movement was sluggish at best as she moved herself up onto her feet. The trainees were opening fire, not that it seemed to be doing much against it's rough skin, but it seemed to be doing at least enough.

"Yute, now!" Lia called, the fire fox turning sharply and running next to her. She grabbed ahold of him and put her weight on him and without hesitation the fox bolted, carrying her away from the area. She didn't make it too far though, as the monster finally seemed to have enough. It slammed both of it's palms onto the ground, and the earth rumbled for a moment, and in the next they were being tossed like ragdolls. It was like a massive earthquake had suddenly hit, and Lia was thrown off Yute and tossed aside. It was a rather disorientating experience for everyone, and even though it only lasted a moment, the damage was severe among the entire group. What Lia had been healed for by Koyuki had been negated by the attack, and the girl was picking herself off the ground while the monster turned to face Aed, taking their injuries as halting them for the moment.

The recruits were all down, some of them looking to be in a terrible state. Luckily, they all appeared to still be alive. The magic spell that they'd been hit with was enough to nearly kill all of them, they were lucky to be alive. Arel appeared to still be alive, but was dragging himself up with a grim look on his face. He looked hurt pretty bad. Yute was beside Lia in a moment, helping her up as she winced. "Eamonn, the kids." She called out to him. The monster was trying to smash Aed flat, not that it would probably have much luck with that, but that wasn't stopping it from trying while the group was trying to get back to functioning behind it. Yute helped Lia get back away from the monster and closer to the group and Koyuki before finally standing on her own as her body seemed to agree. Her movements were still slow, but she seemed relatively all right minus probably lots of bruises and injured bones from being thrown around.

Arel was trying to check on the recruits who weren't moving much. At least they were still breathing, but it didn't look good.

They had pushed it too much it seems. What it had thought to be easy prey turned out to have fangs of its own, so between the difficulty of defeating them, and being hit again and again by fire spells it had had enough. Eamonn hadn't considered that it would have an ability like quake, but the moment he saw it purposely raise its arms up in preparation he knew exactly what it was going to do. "GET BACK!" He shouted, coming to a halt and turning around to the recruits. "Get away!" But it was too late for warning, as the monster brought its hands down furiously, the earth shaking before Eamonn's feet as stones cracked all around them, and pieces of the canyon fell inward to hurt and damage to people who unfortunately were in the canyon.

For the most part it seemed as the the two ex-SeeD and Eliana had taken the damage well. Eamonn himself was bruised up, with some cuts and scrapes, but otherwise nothing was broken. The recruits however... 'Please don't be dead, don't be dead.' He thought, turning back to Koyuki while the monster's attention was focused on Aed, who seemed to be toying with the giant as it ducked and weaved before its gigantic attacks, making teasing cuts with what appeared to be Eamonn's sword, stolen back from the monsters hand. They were handling the monster as well as they could, given the sudden ambush and lack of preparation on their part. But if it decided to use that attack again, they would be far less than stellar.

"Koyuki, grab the recruits and get them to safety!" He ordered, thinking for a moment. Where was Kyes and Arel, and what was their condition? "Go on ahead! See if you can find Arel and Kyes, and get out of here. You need to find Esthar!" He and Eliana could hold it here, if not defeat it and catch up later. But right now their location was compromised to everything living within a five mile radius. The safest place to be for them right now was anywhere but here. Maybe they could still salvage something from this situation, but for now...

Pushing his hair back with his hand as he turned to face the giant once more. Yet another eruption of flames washed over it, as Aed flew past the monsters face to deliver a blast of flames at point blank range, sending it into a roaring frenzy once more. 'Just how much damage can this thing take? Are we even close to killing it?' Eamonn wondered. It wasn't often he and Eliana came across something that could take repeated blasts like this, and not half as many as what it had thus far. It almost made him wish that he had kept his guns, which were now sitting in a chest on the other side of the world in Galbadia. Not that they would have done much good, the secret to the creation of the bullets he used had been lost in Winhill Garden, like so much else. "Firaga!" He shouted, hitting the monster in the back. He'd have to settle with this, he thought not bothering to heal himself just yet. It was a shame he didn't have an aura on hand, but it didn't matter. As soon as Koyuki had taken the others to safety he would be ending this.

"Yute, get Eliana away from that thing!" He shouted, "I'm using that!" The two would know what he meant. Aed was out, so it was obvious he was talking about its final attack. Something no one wanted to be around when it was used. Yet he could feel Aed's excitement rising. The guardian force was enjoying this, the intensity of the fight, the desperation of the humans as they scrabbled around, the heat of the flames and the cries of the monsters as it burned before it. Yet, it was enjoying this a great deal, and despite it all so was Eamonn.

Koyuki raised her hand up to the sky ready to strike, however it would be interrupted to the monster slamming his fist into the ground. The ground began to crack, then shatter, causing an uplift of the ground sending Koyuki, and everyone else flying. Koyuki hit the wall of the canyon hard, and landed on the ground with just the same amount of force. She held her ribs and tried coping with the pain that had been dealt to her. She had some struggle getting up, but managed to do so looking around seeing the recruits in bad shape. Eamonn and Eliana seemed to manage with their pain. Koyuki wouldn't likely be able to handle another hit like that. "Damn. This thing is stronger than I thought. Everyone is in danger, especially the recruits. I need to hurry up and figure out something." She was struggling to think considering she was somewhat dazed from the hit, and the pain coursing through her body. Eamonn was dealing with the creature still and shouted to Koyuki to get the recruits out of the fire. She was trying to figure out how to do that, but nothing seemed to be coming to mind. It was then a voice appeared inside her head. "Looks like your in a bad situation Koyuki." Koyuki was a bit surprised with the sudden voice coming into her head, but she knew that voice well. "Are you just going to talk or are you going to help?" The voice laughed a bit before speaking. "I guess it's time I spread my legs once more. Summon me."

Shoujo Shinka

As if on cue Koyuki raised her staff up into the air. Clouds began to darken and then small flashes of lightning began to appear before a large thunder strike hit the staff. The current of electricity flashed throughout the staff and Koyuki's body. She held out the palm of her hand causing a small orb of electricity to center. She then clench that hand and extended her palm outward away from the monster. The current of electricity flowed from her body and out towards the canyon wall she had pointed too. The electricity began to cause the canyon wall to crack and then it looked as if the electric current was tearing a hole inside of the canyon wall. It opened wider until a horn could be seen appearing from the hole which seemed to be attracting the electrical current as if it was like a leash. Koyuki then grabbed the electrical current that was forming from the palm of her hand and yanked it. The current then caused the opening to shatter outward and a large horse leaped outward towards Koyuki. The electrical current that had once been grappled by Koyuki then became absorbed into the horn of the Guardian Force.

Koyuki looked up to the Guardian Force with a smile. "Good to see you again Ixion. Lets hurry and get the recruits out of here. I'm sure Eamonn's Guardian Force won't distract the monster for long." Ixion nodded, and knelt down as Koyuki ran over to grab the recruits. She did her best to carefully lift the recruits up and onto Ixion. He probably didn't like having others use him as a ride but it wasn't the best time to complain abut it, but she could tell he wasn't liking the idea. Koyuki had only two cures left and it would have to be used on two of the three injured recruits so she casted both of the spells on Evans and Riece. Jorde would have to wait to be healed. Koyuki then helped Arel on since he was hurt a bit, then she got in front on Ixion. "Alright lets get out of here Ixion." The GF nodded once more and began galloping out of the area away from the monster, and from danger. She didn't want to leave Eamonn and Eliana behind, but the recruits were more important as of right now, and who knows what may have noticed all of the commotion that was going on. It would of been best to just keep looking for Esthar, and with Ixion they would cover more ground. "Lets find Esthar quickly. The faster we get there, the more time we will have to recover what we have lost, and prepare for a battle with Galbadia." "This place is definitely not the place to stay to long in. I fear there may be more troubling monsters out here like the one before. It's hard to tell though where they might be." Things were looking bleak, and she would need to make sure that the recruits stayed alive as they made way to Esthar.

If only Eamonn's warning had arrived sooner, perhaps they could have done something to get the recruits out of danger. There was still no sight of Kyes since he had seperated from the group earlier, making Lia wonder just what had happened to him with that spell. She didn't really have time to worry about his condition though, given their current situation. Koyuki had summoned something, but the monster was far too busy dealing with Aed to even begin to worry about what was going on behind him. The recruits were helped on, and Arel climbed on behind them, and then they were off as Koyuki jumped on. Lia watched them go before turning her eyes back to Eamonn. Yute growled, a rare thing for the fire fox to do in regards to Eamonn. It wasn't exactly hostile, more like a gruff acknowledgement of what was about to come. Lia had a pretty good idea too, which meant it was time to take cover.

"I'm going." Lia called back, taking a few steps, getting into what looked to be a running pace even with her sluggish body, and then she bolted, obviously using flash now that she could stand on her own feet and still function without having to worry about being attacked. She appeared only briefly, passing Eamonn as she glanced out of the corner of her red eye at him. "Be careful." And then she flashed away again, taking cover near the edge of the bend, sliding behind the cover of some of the rocks, Yute jumping over to rocks to be next to her. She should be out of the danger zone here, given the distance she had from him. Regardless of what Eamonn wanted, she wasn't about to leave the area of the fight just in case something went bad and she needed to intervene. On a positive note, she could feel her body's sluggish feel was wearing off, which was good.

Gargantua on the other hand, was getting more and more wild in it's attempts to blast away Aed. The GF was definitely doing the job of increasing it's anger and it's desperate rage to kill it. Even though Aed was pounding it, it still seemed to continue to try to beat him down. They certainly took on a bit more than they could chew. It was as Eamonn attacked it from behind that it's rage finally seemed to reach a new high. It lashed around suddenly, swinging across the entire canyon at Eamonn, bellowing as it locked it's eyes on him. If he made the mistake of catching it's gaze, he'd no doubt feel the same thing Lia had felt earlier. What's worse, in it's fit of rage, regardless of if it hit Eamonn or not, it hit the wall so hard that part of the canyon face crumbled and sent rocks and earth cascading into the canyon where Eamonn was. The burns in it's flesh were intense at this point, indicating that between Aed and Eamonn's flames, they had very nearly pushed it to it's limit. It just seemed to be striking in a rage induced frenzy at this time. There wasn't any subtly to it's attacks, and as Eamonn was worried anything in the area would no doubt have heard the fight.

Eamonn watched with grim relief as Koyuki loaded the injured recruits onto the back of her guardian force, riding off to what he could only hope was safety. 'At least there is that,' He thought, the recruits safely away from the crossfire between Eamonn and the monster. Aed had done its job keeping it distracted as Koyuki evacuated the recruits and Eliana retreated away, briefly pausing to issue her concern. "I'll be fine," Eamonn said, still facing forward with his eyes on the monster. And he would. He'd be damned if he got himself killed in the middle of nowhere with some nameless monster. Ashe Harton was still alive, and he wasn't quite ready to board the D-Train just yet. The issue now was just giving Aed the chance it needed to hit the monster with its attack. The monster was drunk on rage now, Aed having done everything and more to annoy and agitate the monster, throwing fireballs and making small cuts along its unprotected arms whenever it swung. The GF was also deftly evading all of the monsters attacks. For all its size and strength, it seemed to pose little threat to the smaller and quicker GF.

'Aed. Its time,' He sent to the GF, preparing to deal with the titan just as it whirled around. Fortunately that last attack by Eamonn had accomplished exactly what it was that he wanted it to do. It was plenty furious now, lashing out almost randomly. With Eamonn's previous attack the monster whirled around, eyes blazing and mouth wide with rage. And with a mighty swing of its arm it slammed the canyon wall just over Eamonn's head, the force of the blow not just cracking the surface but shattering it like glass. Eamonn looked up, eyes wide with shock before as he watched debris of stone, snow, and dirt come cascading down towards him. He was quick to realize that there was no where to go. The canyon wasn't wide enough to escape the falling debris, and no amount of speed would help him clear the affected area before it all came crashing down on him. It was a split second decision, and one he wasn't even entirely sure would work. Throwing up his arms, he shouted, and right as the avalanche descended upon him there was an explosion.

As soon as Gargantua turned to lash out at Eamonn, Aed stopped its erratic movements and dropped down to the middle of the canyon. Crossing its arms, it bowed forward, and in a slow and controlled movement uncrossed them as it raised them up from its sides. With the very motion there was a rumbling, and the stone around the canyon began to shake and crack. There could not have been a more perfect location for Aed as the terrain began to transform behind Gargantua. The very canyon itself began to shift around, the old bones and skeletal remains rearranging themselves, giant slates of stone coming up out of the ground and the canyon walls. By the time it was complete, what could only be described as a crude but obvious door, with Aed standing atop it. Arms spread out, Aed straightened himself, grin widening as the doors, large enough that even Gargantua could have crawled through them, began to open. From within the doors a great and furious heat exploded outward, as fire and smoke billowed out. That was not the only thing either. Shadows moved across the ground, hundreds or thousands of shadows that slithered across the ground and along the canyon walls, wrapping around the base of Gargantua's torso and moving upwards. The moment the shadows laid hand on Gargantua flames began to ignite across its body. And not only that, but they began to pull. Slowly they began to draw the giant monster, pulling it towards the open mouth of the doors. And as the giant drew closer, the doors slowly began to shut.

There was a terrible crash, Lia flinching as she felt it rock the entire canyon, the girl glancing over her cover to see what had happened. And she got a front row seat to watching him being buried alive by rubble. She felt her blood run cold as she watched, Gargantua turning to face Aed once more. Aed was using his final attack, which meant Eamonn had to be alive, right? Right? She was panicking, her heart rate going sky high as she watched in numb terror. And then Aed disappeared without warning, his attack never finishing, though it appeared it had burned the monster some before he had faded away. For a single moment, her world stopped. It might have been over dramatic to someone else, but her last surviving link to who she was had just... flickered away, like a candle flame being blown out. Her light in her own darkness, had just blown out.

"Eamonn!"

She didn't even realize for a moment she stood as she cried out his name. Her voice echoed along the canyon as Yute jumped up, Gargantua turning to glare her down. She was shaking, her head cast down, jaw clenched as Yute slowly walked out next to her. A few tears dripped to the ground at her feet before she looked up, flicking her sword into her sheath. "Go to hell." She muttered, flicking her right hand out at Gargantua.

Your Truth is My Lie

"Waterja." Yute suddenly bolted forward as the canyon suddenly started to fill with water, covering the ground in a thin layer of it as Gargantua moved as if to go towards the two standing there. It raised it's hands, likely to send another quake through, but was cut short as Fire suddenly caught all along it's upper body. It seemed to think, for a moment anyways, that Aed had returned before realizing the creature that had casted the spell was running at it, Yute.

"Drown."

Water erupted around the gargantua, wrapping around it in a massive sphere that was bubbling. Lia had started to run forward, her eyes on the monster thrashing wildly inside it's prison of water. And then, it exploded. It was like a depth charge had gone off inside the water all around it and in the sphere, water exploding upwards and outwards away from Gargantua. It let out a weak bellow, prepared to strike the ground in front of it in retaliation, but the girl was gone, as was her fox, the scene before it was devoid of life as if they had simply disappeared.

"Here!" It turned around sharply, preparing to swing down to the ground to crush the pesky flies that were trying to strike it from behind, only as it did, there was a bright blue flash and it's hand, severed, went flying into the wall. She stood there, her feet firmly planted, her blade held in her left hand, the sheath hanging loosely from her right hand.

User Image

The blade was glowing, her scarf alive with fire. The sheath was a burning red as she quickly slammed the sword back into the sheath, back stepped and quick drew the blade. An explosion followed, and then all was quiet. The water that had rushed into the canyon was gone, the Gargantua was curled over, burns having covered it's body. It most likely would have died without the evident cause of death. The loss of it's hand had been bad, but a huge gash was evident from it's left hip all the way up to it's right shoulder, so deep that initially one could see clean through it's body along it's left hip. Yute was no where to be seen, resting actually, as Lia remained kneeling in the middle of the ground. The air was still burning hot, the snow that fell turning to rain as it got within the area. Her scarf's bright burn had dimmed, now a gentle blaze as she knelt there. Her sword was laying next to her, the sheath on her opposite side, the blade no longer glowing.

"Eamonn..." She got to her feet shakily to look for his remains.

Ixion was keeping pace galloping through the canyon. The commotion behind only seemed to grow louder than before. What was going on back there? "Ixion Stop!" Immediately the thunder horse stopped dead in its tracks, and turned around looking back at the area with Koyuki. "It sounds like things are getting heated back there. Your friends might be in trouble. Should I turn us back?" Koyuki was thinking. She didn't know what to do. "Should I go back and help? If I do I risk getting the recruits dying....but Eamonn and Eliana are just as important to this group. They need to come back alive." She had made up her mind. It was then she felt the ground shake once more, and that made her yell out her order to Ixion. "Let's go back now!" "Right!" Ixion then began to gallop quickly back towards Eamonn, and Eliana. Hopefully they would still be alive.

They were getting closer by the sound of it, but then a large explosion would be heard. The fight must of been getting intense. This made Ixion go even quicker, but he was also mindful of the injured recruits on his back. As they continued on a sudden large amount of water came rushing through forcing Ixion to stop dead in its tracks and brace itself against the rushing water. "Water? Why is there so much?" "Someone must of used a spell. This lake has been dried up for a long time, there's no other way that water would of formed here." She had to agree with him. Once the water receded Ixion quickly went back to galloping towards where Eliana, and Eamonn were. Koyuki was beginning to be worried she wouldn't arrive in time. With this much intensity being felt from the fight she knew something major was happening.

Finally Koyuki and Ixion arrived where they once left seeing the area completely destroyed, at least the canyon walls that were once there. In the middle she had seen the slain monster burnt up, and lying on the ground dead. Eliana was there as well in the middle, but Eamonn, and his Guardian Force were no longer to be seen. Koyuki leaped off of Ixion and ran over to Eliana to see if she was alright. Looking more closely as she went up to Eliana she could see that Eliana was struggling to move. Koyuki went over to her and helped her balance herself so she wouldn't fall. "Are you alright Eliana? I heard the commotion and had Ixion turn around. I was worried that you guys would be in trouble, but it looks like you were able to kill it." Koyuki looked around still seeing no traces of Eamonn. What happened to him? "Where's Eamonn?" She had her worried expression back on her face. Eamonn didn't die did he? Meanwhile Ixion had moved from where Koyuki had jumped off, staying close by her.

Eamonn coughed, water, dirt, and mud covering him from head to toe and sputtering from his mouth where it had unexpectedly forced itself in. Well, the dirt he had expected. But the sudden wash of water that soaked him and made the dirt turn to mud and stick to him and the insides of his mouth? That he had not, nor the cold rain that fell now instead of snow, and he was probably even less pleased about that than being covered by dirt and gravel. 'I liked his coat.' He thought disappointingly, looking down at the coat that was now torn and dirty. He seemed to have a habit of either losing or destroying his favored coats, but he was alive and that was something. He wasn't as badly damaged as he had expected after having a cliff dropped on him. Mostly cuts and bruises. Nothing felt broken, so he was fortunate. That could have gone a lot more poorly than what it had.

'The monster.' He thought, turning in the direction that it had been in. It was down, defeated and still and showing no signs of getting up and moving anytime soon. He would have assumed that the death of the monster had been the work of Aed, but if it had there would have been nothing left of its remains. There rarely was where Aed was concerned. The monster was severely burned, however, and it appeared to have been cut up pretty badly, too.

'No, this has Eliana's touch.' The sudden heat in the area, the presence of water where there had been none, and the large cuts made along the monsters body. 'Saved again by her.' He thought, wondering what would have happened had she not been there to take it down. Would it have finished him off and moved to follow after Koyuki and the recruits? Or would it have assumed him dead and gone after the others? Neither was a pleasant thought, and the fact that Eamonn had been so easily knocked out, as well as failed to have finished the monster, did not sit well with him. He had come close to dying, and no sooner had he been put in charge of the lives of others he had nearly gotten them killed. His fists clenched, his knuckles turning white as the snow.

He remained like that until he heard Koyuki's voice, Eamonn turning his head to see the ex-SeeD, her guardian force, and Eliana. Immediately he started to sit up, having remained laying there the entire time, pushing rubble off of himself so he could properly get up and meet the two.

Lia barely even glanced over at Koyuki as she asked if she was okay. Sadly, Lia hadn't even noticed she'd come back. She was somewhat grateful for the assistance though. She felt a little weak. She suspected it was because of her emotional state, but Koyuki was asking her something and she needed to focus on her. "I... I don't..." She was about to answer Koyuki's question, when her eyes caught movement from the rubble. She blinked, her eyes focusing on it intently as a figure pushed themselves free from the rubble. Her mind blanketed for a moment as she pushed away from Koyuki, practically running to the rubble, though she very nearly stumbled on her shaky legs. Eamonn didn't quite have time to get all of the rubble off of him when she dove and wrapped her arms around him, burying her face into his shoulder. Her shaking subsided after a moment, a sigh escaping her lips.

"You said you would be fine! I thought you were dead!" There was the anger, as she sat back from him, releasing him and glaring at him intensely. She new full well that he did appear to be fine, so he had met up with his end of the bargain, but that didn't make her feel any better about thinking he was dead. "You can't do that to me!" She was trying to not shout, but it wasn't doing much good. She had her reasons for being so upset about him making her think he was dead. There was something novel about the lack of concern she held in the moment though. Her white jacket had remained relatively clean up until she had hugged him. Now the front of it was covered in mud from him, not that she even seemed to care. As to be expected, the scarf didn't even seem to be a touch dirty from the contact. Her intense glare turned to almost a pout as she pushed herself up and held her hand down to him, as to help him up.

"Please. Don't make me think I'll be alone again." That was probably the most sincere thing that had ever left her lips. And he knew the weight of those words. It was not easy, even with Eamonn, for her to admit how much she was terrified of being alone. She had Yute, which was good, but there wasn't someone who could know who she was when she forgot, and she was terrified that day would come. She was forgetting more every day, more and more things that used to be important to her. Eamonn could ask her basic things about her childhood, and she already couldn't answer even those. And it was getting worse. He knew it was getting worse, and it made her all the more desperate to not be alone. She seemed to be relaxing now, and slowly the blazing heat that had filled the canyon had started to subside. It was still raining a bit, but slowly it was turning into a more sleet like effect, and eventually it would return to snow.

Yute had still yet to re-appear, and Lia's sword and sheath lay discarded on the ground where she had been kneeling before. It was a miracle her hat was still on her head, in the long run, but somehow the black hat had kept it's position firm.

Koyuki carefully held up Eliana while she struggled to stay on her legs. From the expression Eliana was giving she was a bit out of mind at the moment, and it wasn't till a few seconds or so till she was about to respond, but immediately cut herself off and shoved Koyuki off of her. "H-Hey! What was that fo-...." After Koyuki regain balance from the shove she had realized why Eliana had shoved Koyuki in such a manner. Eamonn was alive, and it had appeared to Eliana that he was dead. She seemed really angry, but Koyuki was sure she was happy as well. It was scary to have to possibly loose someone that was possibly close to you. Koyuki never really knew the relationship between Eliana, and Eamonn but she was sure they were good friends.

Smiling at both of them glad to see that they both were ok she went back over to Ixion and began to remove the recruits off of him. She wouldn't of been able to hold him out for much longer, and she was sure he didn't have much time left before he would vanish. After removing the recruits and having them lean against rubble that was piled up she stood by Ixion petting his head. "What do you think? Do you believe we will make it to Esthar Ixion?" Silence was all that was heard for a bit. Likely he was thinking before he responded to her. Sure enough he did. "I have to say our situation doesn't look good Koyuki. 3 injured recruits, I doubt you'll be able to get far while at the pace they will be going. Though I do have to say if anyone was to find a city long forgotten I believe it would be you, and your group of friends. You three are smart, and capable of so much. It is obvious by how well they had fought that creature lying dead over there. So to answer your question in short, yes I do believe we will make it to Esthar." Koyuki was glad that Ixion was positive of them, but he did point out the issues of the injured recruits. One of them was hurt more than the other three and it wasn't likely that he could move without straining his body.

She sighed. Looking back up though she was determined to see through that they would make it to Esthar with everyone. Even with this set back she felt that they were capable of surviving the Canyon. Eamonn had survived, and Eliana as well from fighting that monster. Everything seemed possible, as long as the group members survived. Everybody was important, and essential to the team. Koyuki then walked over to Eamonn and Eliana with Ixion. Keeping his stance proud as he walked with her was something he was use to doing. She enjoyed it when he did. Once she was next to them she spoke in concern of what they were going to do. "Ixion's time is almost up, I won't be able to hold him out for much longer, and Jorde is in no condition to walk. What is our next move?" Now probably wasn't the best time to start making plans but with the commotion that just had been going on it was likely that either Galbadia or monsters that lived in this region were on their way.

Eamonn had no sooner managed to clear enough of the debris off of his legs to get up before he heard the sound of running feet crunching against gravel and rock and splashing on the wet ground and very suddenly the weight of another person was flung against his body. He caught Eliana in an unconscious motion, bracing himself and arms catching her by wrapping around her torso and back, but almost immediately as soon as he realized the motion he had made and recognized the sensation of another person against his body he froze up. The contact was unfamiliar to him, something only his past self might have recognized, and his body stiffened noticeably against her. Eamonn looked as awkward and uncomfortable as he felt as she shuddered against him with silent tears, looking up at Koyuki with a confused and troubled expression as he silently asked her what to do in a situation like this. And just as he got comfortable with the notion of comfortingly patting her back, she sighed and pulled away, looking every bit as angry as she had been upset not two seconds before. This, of course, only furthering Eamonn's confusion and distraught over this situation. What did he do?

"I was fine," He muttered, glancing almost guiltily away, a glimmer of his old self shining through. So his plan had been reckless and he had come close to dying, but he had survived it. Even now, though, he could almost imagine his death. Crushed beneath the canyon wall, his body broken beyond repair where the rocks had crushed his bones and body. No amount of magic would have been enough to save him, and that would only have been if they had managed to find his body. And knowing Eliana... 'She would have died here too.' He thought, knowing just what kind of person she was. Then he would have had both of their deaths on his hands, and maybe that of the recruits. And even though the battle was over, they still weren't out of the clear. Galbadia would have heard all that noise if they were pursuing, and no doubt if they were far behind they were close now. Any monster within a five mile radius would have been drawn to the commotion of the fight. Half the group was severely injured if not on the verge of death, or outright missing, and they were still no closer to finding Esthar than when they had started. In fact, they had barely even gotten started. 'That's a sobering thought.' He sighed mentally, looking at Eliana, sighing aloud this time as he took her hand and let her help him climb to his feet.

Despite it all, she still continued to follow him. Regardless of whatever foolish notion went through his head, or whatever task he put them through she continued to stick by his side, occasionally being the voice of reason if his should falter. And doused in mud and soaked in blood, as he was, that didn't seem the faze her in the slightest, as she had just made clear. Maybe it was because he was one of the few precious things that she could remember. Maybe she just didn't have anyone else to go back to, and aside from her faithful guardian force he was the only one on this continent she could call friend. Or perhaps she just hated being alone, Eamonn would never be too sure. As for himself, well...

In the beginning Eamonn had scorned her and her presence. She would have done well to leave him to die with his team, that would have been mercy. Her presence had been a nuisance and her forced upbeat nature had nearly driven him mad.Yet over these last two years, between all of the fighting, the training, and his occasional work with the resistance that scorn for her had melted away. It had become a support in some, unexpected ways. Soon enough, Eliana's presence became as natural as the sun. His vengeance against Harton wasn't the only reason he had to keep going, it seemed. Maybe it was the thing that he told himself every morning he got up and every night before he got to sleep, but no, there was another reason why he was determined to keep going. "Alright, come on." He said, putting a hand on her hat and flattening it down against her head, tilting it so that it went over her eyes. It was in that moment her permitted himself to smile, but no sooner had she corrected her hat and cleared her vision it was gone."Let's get back to the recruits and find the others." No indeed, he couldn't leave her just yet.

Eamonn suddenly remembered Koyuki, immediately raising his fist and coughing into it to clear his throat and adopted his stern expression, returning once more to the persona of the hardened warrior. "Koyuki, how are the others?" He asked, referring to the three recruits. He didn't get much of a chance to look at their condition before having returned to the fighting but he saw the way they had been thrown onto Ixion and assumed that they weren't good. "And what about Arel or Kyes, did you find either of them?" Jorde was in no condition to walk, that would slow them down. Between the three of them, only Koyuki had a GF big enough to carry anyone. The only GF that was safe enough to carry anyone, that was. "We stick to the plan, and continue to press on. Its the only thing that we can do. Lets just get back to the recruits, see if we can't fix them up best we can, and keep on with our search and hope nothing else drops in on us."

It might have been funny for her that Eamonn didn't know how to deal with her going from sad, to mad, to okay with him all in the same minute, if she hadn't literally been going through all 3 of those emotions so fast she didn't have time to comprehend what she was feeling. She was happy though. The relieved feeling of him being alive overrode the rest of her panic and despair. It wasn't like he expected his next action to get the reaction it got though. Lia flailed wildly as Eamonn flattened her hat and obscured part of her view with it. "Hey! Not fair!" She fixed her hat after a moment, looking up at him with a faint, sincere, smile as he seemed to be uncomfortable about something. A glance over her shoulder reminded her that Koyuki and the others were still there. She'd almost forgot about them. Lia wasn't embarrassed like Eamonn was though, she just turned around full twist and smiled brightly. The moment of near catastrophe had passed, and now it was back to her usual random persona when in front of other people.

It was funny, almost. Two years ago he would have been unhappy with her concern for him. He wouldn't have wanted her around. Her concern for him was unwanted by him. No matter how many times he had shown displeasure in her company back then, she'd kept the upbeat attitude and kept moving. It had hurt, it had hurt more than anything she had ever felt. No wound could compare to the constant pain of not being wanted, and always seeking acceptance to never receive it. She probably couldn't count the number of times she curled up with Yute and wanted to cry. She didn't honestly know when the change had come, but it had. And she hadn't had to force herself to express happiness. And it made her happy. She knew she'd follow him until her road came to an end. And if his ended before hers, she knew she wouldn't make it much farther. If not because she'd lose the will to live by losing the last person to know her, to really know her, then because she knew it wouldn't be long till she forgot everything with no one to remind her who she really was.

Lia tugged down her scarf a bit and held her hand out at Eamonn's back. "Cure." She breathed, attempting to heal up most of his wounds. She only had a few cures, but she didn't have time to really squander them. They had people who needed them. She didn't really wait for his response to her cure as she hurried over to Jorde. She repeated the process on both Jorde and Arel, the latter of which offered his thanks to her. Jorde finally stirred, looking up at Lia as she waved and smiled brightly at him before walking off, towards her weapons. She silently picked up the sheath and sword, sheathing the blade and tying it to her waist. Arel turned his attention to Eamonn as he mentioned his name, getting a wave from the Scout. "I'm alright. I can still scout if you need me to, Ms... Lia? Healed me up. I would prefer not being hit with another one of those spells though. Can't say I expected that." He stated, clearly trying to make light of the situation, but failing given how serious it had been. He also seemed to realize that he didn't know Lia's last name. Which made sense. No one knew her last name.

"Ya'll still alive down there?"

"No thanks to you!" Lia shouted up the canyon wall to the sniper, who was looking down at them with a concerned look. Lia was shooting him a glare, and he help up his hands. "Just doing what I was ordered to. Not like you needed my help. Damn, girl. If nothing knew we were around, they do now with all the noise you and your friend make. I'm not seeing much movement up here though." He responded, clearly providing them with some idea of how the situation was looking from above. Lia visibly pouted, not pleased she was being chided for having attempted to deal with the monster that had nearly killed Eamonn. "Yah? Well I didn't see you doing anything to take him out quietly!" She wasn't going to let it go that he was chiding her. It was definitely childish, but she really didn't seem to care. That, or she was doing that thing where she acted ridiculous to make the others relax. It was hard to say at this point if it wasn't a bit of both.

"As fun as I can see you're going to be, the canyon ends up ahead a ways. You should be able to get on level with me. You want me to continue doing what I've been doing?" Kyes directed this at Eamonn, looking directly down at him. Lia sighed as she crossed her arms and held her hands out in front of her. While they were doing this, she was going to bring back Yute. Fire caught on the air around her swung her hands out and around forming a burning circle of flames. Stepping back, she moved her right hand back and forth inside the circle, magic symbols forming as the flames intensified before, with a burst of fire, Yute jumped clear of the burning magic circle as it burned away. He padded a few steps away before turning and looking back at Lia with a knowing gaze. "Yute!" She seemed happy as a child greeting their pet, kneeling down and holding her arms out. Yute, however, merely walked over and sat, allowing her to wrap her arms around him fondly. He seemed alright with this though.

Koyuki smiled as Eamonn and Eliana were having their small moment. She was sure that they were good friends, but the hug seemed to have made Eamonn feel somewhat awkward. At least the face expression he gave off seemed to have indicated that. She looked back to Ixion seeing as it was time to go. Ixion bowed his head to her in a way of saying goodbye in physical form. He slowly disappeared and vanished from site. "Well his time is up. Hopefully we won't encounter something terrible on the way to Esthar anymore." Looking back to Eamonn as he asked his question about the recruits she responded. "Evans and Riece are bruised but are able to move, Arel is hurt bad, and Jorde is incapacitated." It was then after Koyuki had finished that Eliana had gone and healed both Jorde and Arel. Well that was a relief. Everyone was able to move now, but then Eamonn had asked about Kyes. Koyuki had not seen Kyes since the bird call so she had no idea if he was fine. It was then a voice from above called down to them. "Guess that explains on where he was." She said aloud. Well that was everyone, now it was just the issue of moving on and finding Esthar.

"Now that everyone seems to have recovered somewhat I think we're ready to head out and find Esthar again. Hopefully we won't have to deal with another monster like that again" she was ready to go. Who knows what might of been heading towards them, but she was ready to get out of there before something did show up.

The cuts and scrapes he had itched momentarily as the skin magically sealed themselves shut so not even scars might remain. Where his skin had been darkened with bruises was now nothing more than a faded mark on his skin. When the spell had finally finished his work, he turned and nodded to Eliana. "Thank you," He said, nodding his head. He didn't feel the need to chatise her for wasting a spell on him when there were those who needed it more, because as much as he hated to admit it he had needed that as much himself. His body did not ache quite so much now, and there was no hint of a limp in his step where before there would have been. He was as good as new, or as good as he could be.

"Good, this time however I want you to fall back and see if you can spot pursuit." Galbadia would have had ample time to catch up by now, and after that commotion they would know their exact coordinates. "If you have any flares and something happens, use them. Otherwise double back and rendezvous with us as soon as you can." Looking up as the sniper leaned over the cliff to call down to them, Eamonn tolerated the exchange just long enough to find out that he didn't see anything. "That's enough, Lia. Bullets would have done little to penetrate it's skin, you know that." It seemed odd that after something like that there would be no follow up. Regardless, Eamonn didn't like the idea of taking any chances.

"Keep doing what you were doing, Kyes. We will meet you at the end." Eamonn called up, turning his attention to the rest of the group now that the scout and the sniper had their direction. He nodded in agreement with Koyuki. Everyone looked rather banged up, but they were alive and standing and that was enough for Eamonn. "As good as rest might sound right now, we need to carry on. Once we are free of the canyon and have regrouped with Kyes and Arel we will take a short break. Until then, we move." Once they reached the end he would have to plan out their next step, and he would want to survey the cliffs to find a way down into the flats. "Alright, let's go."

With no further ado, he began to lead the group through the canyon passage once more. Climbing over debris and evading the smoldering corpse of the giant that they had struggled to win again. To his fortune, he caught a glimpse of his sword as they passed the gargantuan monster, on the ground before the now crumbled remains of what had been Aed's final attack. He wordlessly retrieved the sword, checking the blade for any damage before nodding in satisfaction and sheathing it once more, the weight surprisingly a comfort to have.

As they traveled further through the canyon, Eamonn noticed that something was off. "Lia, does it seem more humid than usual?" He asked, pausing for a moment in their march. Not only that, but the snow that they had been traversing over had reverted to a slush state, and he could see ahead that there were puddles forming where the water had melted. There were also the occasional droplets of rain that struck his face or shoulder. 'Something isn't right,' He thought, looking up at the canyon wall and then back to see if there had been a signal or a flare from the scout. This wasn't a normal after effect of Lia's limit break, or even Aed's final attack. This was something different, and out here that meant something bad. "Everyone on alert." Eamonn said, drawing his sword once again.
