2) What do you think is the best moral code (may include philosophies based on religion if you like) and why? Share some key principles to substantiate. (This is not a debate topic, but rather one of sharing and getting to know the other guildies.) Best moral code? Tough one for me. Probably "Do not harm another unless they harm you or threaten the safety of others." If violence is not necessary, one should never resort to it. It's crass.
3) How should one pursue happiness and what does happiness mean to you? According to Buddha, you live simply. You must remove desire and ego to find happiness. According to me, you must fulfill your desires and needs; always strive to improve yourself and help others. Happiness comes from the pleasure of enjoying your life, satisfying yourself, bettering yourself as a person, and improving the world around you.
4) If you could choose to live on another inhabitable planet, what would you take with you, who (what type of people, not necessarily specific persons) would you ask to go with you, and why? What and who would be the ingredients to form the ideal society if we could start anew? PART ONE: I would take books - lots of books. Religious tomes, philosophies, text books, survival guides, medical journals, classics, etc. This way we will have a foundation for literature, religion, and learning.
I would take a few religious leaders for morale, a few people who are good company for fun, a few who could play instruments for enriching life with music, some story tellers to create new tales, a couple of doctors and vets for obvious reasons, some engineers for designing structures/tools/etc., scientists to advance, and perhaps some family and friends.
PART TWO: Ideal society is subjective and not possible to achieve.
