He knew the feeling. The biting numbness. The needles in his stomach. The tingling across his skin. The ice in his mind.
Jett hunched forward a bit, lacing his fingers together and resting his elbows on his knees. He prompted rested his chin atop his hands and chewed on the inside of his cheek.
If this was some sort of bluff, something to scare him, Raven was dragging it on for too long. There was an urgent doubt in the back of his mind—a nagging that refused to be silenced. It was a joke, right? This was a joke. She couldn't be serious.
Not after all of this.
"You don't have to," he reminded, wishing he had something clever to say. Wishing that he could summon some fancy little tool to just fix everything.
And they could go out for a nice dinner and everything would go back to normal. Everything would be fine again.
He still wanted to think that this could be fixed.
His mind kept telling him that everything could be salvaged. Improved.
He just couldn't process how.

She gave a little titter of laughter then just finally decided she didn’t have to. Not right now. She was far too exhausted. Far too…drained. Just drained.
She was more than content just to lay there for the night. Just lay there and hope and pray that things just. Stopped. That she woke up and this was all a bad dream. That she could wake up and be madly in love with Jett again. That would be…ideal. Completely ideal.
And if that happened…she’d be pleased…but right now. Right now she didn’t really think that it would happen.
“I’ll finish packing tomorrow then. Tomorrow.”
And she would see how things went. And tomorrow she would go, if that was where the wind took her.

Jett's eyes slid to her, finally. He watched her for just a moment before nodding. "I'm going to get dressed. I'll clean up the bathroom tomorrow, so if you've got any reason to be in there, just be careful."
Tomorrow. She was putting it off.
There was still time. Maybe she'd change her mind.
Or maybe they were both just prolonging the inevitable. Or maybe they just needed one more day to figure things out.
To put the pieces back together.
He stood and made his way to the bathroom, flicking off the light. He was still damp when he slid into his pajamas, but he was finding it harder and harder to care about such trivial things.
But then there was the awkwardness of where he was sleeping tonight.
"…You want me to sleep in the living room?" he asked, trying to make himself look busy hanging up his towel.

”It’s your bed as well as mine. But I’m not sure I can move. So do what you want.” She didn’t care. On one hand, she would love to have his arms around her once more, but on the other…she dind’t think it would make her feel as good as it normally did.
Though on the third hand, she didn’t want to make any choices. Right now she just wanted to drift. To drift and zone out. And of course hope for the best. Maybe she would wake up and this will have all been in her mind. She could always hope, that much was for sure.
Glancing down at her hand, Raven pulled another piece of glass down, tossing it to the ground with a sleepy sounding sigh.
This had been quite a night. And not in the good way. Not at all.

Jett wished he could have been happier about not being banished to the living room, though he was stoic as he turned off the light to their bedroom. Climbing into his bed, next to her, didn't bring him as much pleasure as he would have liked. It almost still felt like coming home. Like all the worries of the world were lost.
He didn't know if he could look forward to any more nights of sleeping next to Raven, so he wasn't going to squander this one. It took him a moment to get settled in, pulling his pillow into the proper position, making sure he wasn't too close or too far away from Raven, fussing about the blankets.
Finally, he settled down and drew the blanket up over both of them. He lay on his back, only a few inches away from her, staring up at the dark ceiling.
"…Night," he said. He was tired, but he didn't think he'd be getting to sleep anytime soon. His brain was racing again; it was throbbing unpleasantly.
He dreaded the morning.

”Goodnight, Jett…” She relaxed a bit when she felt the blanket get put over her and relaxed a bit more when she felt him next to her. Slowly she moved just a bit closer, pressing just slightly against him.
“See you in the morning.” Raven let her hand hang limply over the side of the bed and closed her eyes, burying her face in the pillow.
Please. Just let her wake up and have all of this just be a bad dream. Just a terrible, bad dream. Was that too much to ask?
She felt tears pooling in her eyes again and just let them get absorbed into the pillow. She was just…so stupid. So very stupid.
And now she was going to be stupid and alone. It just wasn’t fair.
