Ami couldn't see Jack's wink, as she was busy doing Sudoku. The top right box was giving her a tough time.

She did look up at the mention of an incident though. "I'll admit to curiosity as well, Mimsy. Do tell~"

When Robert sat down for the division meeting, he had absolutely nothing in his hands, and even less in his head. He looked just a little sullen, but there was little to note from him, and he was easily ignored. Mimsy's paperwork sat on the desk, and up until the moment she decided to step up and deliver her proposal, Robert was toying with the edges. The silence was awkward. Life Division had taken a hard toll, and as far as he was concerned, the silence was appropriate. Clarice wasn't here anymore. Neither was Clerise. And the latest assistant had died as well.

Life was sure filled with a lot of death lately.

Mimsy broke the silence, and he frowned, almost wishing they could have gone through the entire meeting in mournful and respectful quiet. Then her proposal had everyone intrigued, but he wanted nothing to do with it. Under his breath, he mumbled something about need to know basis, before sliding his arm down the table and resting his chin on it.

He remembered the last time he'd sat in on a Life meeting. Immediately his eyes searched for Leon, even as he laid on his arm, lazily guarding Mimsy's papers beside him.

Lex did catch the wink, and shot Jack a very shark like smile as a foot went to nudge Ami's. He didn't even know the trainee, but he'd gladly take out some misplaced frustration on the man. Mimsy, luckily for Jack, had spoken up and distracted the man for a bit, talking about an incident that involved Insanity and the Haunted House.

"Interesting. Maybe what you and Lucky found could aide us with the current... issue as well." He commented, inclining his head towards the destroyed town. Damn titans.

Sitting back in his chair, the doctor stared evenly at Mimsy, "Yes, my dear, I recall the report from your recent excursion that occurred last year. I do hope, that you've kept your research relevant to the current state of Insanity? I do sincerely hope so, as I expect a detailed and clear report on your research on my desk at the end of the evening." He smiled at her, all teeth, "You do recall what happened to the head of our Insanity study? Yes, in fact, I believe you were there. It's become quite an area of concern, you see."

Trying to conserve his phone’s battery, Shiloh had only really glanced at the text, enough to see that there was a meeting, and where it would be held. He didn’t really know where ‘Lab Conference Room A’ was, but he was sure he could figure it out.

That had been a large oversight on his part.

Considerably late, he burst into the room with a clatter, duck boots and all, having finally spotted ‘Lab Conference Room A’ and making made a mad dash for the door.

“Sorry, sorry!” He yelled, and upon realizing he’d yelled, quickly covered his mouth. Right, indoor voice. “I’ll just, uh, take a seat here… Hi Mimsy! Robert!”

He settled in beside the giant hunter.

Shiloh's entrance jarred him just enough to lift his head, and right when he was starting to make disturbing connections, too. The lack of information he possessed worked against him, however, so he was just as clueless as ever, though suspicion was starting to seep into his thoughts. Shiloh dispelled them with his presence, and Robert sat up more, dropping one very large, very heavy arm around the poor soul that had thought it was a good idea to sit next to him.

Shiloh was now a glorified teddy bear to a man who was trying to make connections concerning Clarice's death, and what they were talking about now.

Shiloh had expected a hello or maybe a nod, but he certainly hadn’t such a hands on sort of welcome. He supposed it was probably a good thing, considering Robert’s status as full hunter, and his own status as very late and very loud interrupting trainee.

“Hi Robert,” he said, much more quietly this time, almost at a whisper now. He didn’t want to interrupt again. Reaching up, he awkwardly patted the large man on his head. “You okay buddy?”

Lucky looked both very confused and concerned to hear his name being echoed around the room, and finally looked up from the very fascinating spot on the table he'd been staring at to give Mimsy a look. It was a look that mostly said 'I thought we agreed to never mention that to anyone, ever', but also flickered above her head a few times, as if at any moment something strange and ominously crown-like might pop back into existence.

Things began to settle down after H's commentary. But Lucky's mind did not. The hopeless silence was starting to get to him too. The loss of morale spread like a disease. Even though he barely knew the recent dead, it was the purposelessness that was driving him insane.

"Energy," he burst out suddenly, glancing toward the gathering and slapping both hands down on the tabletop. "Nothing here vorks vithout. No shield. No portal. No golem. No technology. The runestone can only power small things. Is not enough..."

"Can ve not find a temporary solution? Maybe there is another strong artifact out there... there is air and ocean... the titans...?" He trailed off for a moment before sinking back into a slouch. "I cannot be only one to think about this."

Noah took a deep breath, glanced around nervously to make sure that he wasn't about to interrupt anyone more important, and offered, "Is solar a possibility? Or hydroelectric powered by waves? I'd think with the location here that those would be reasonable sustainable energy sources." He paused, opened his mouth to say something else, then rethought it and shrank back into his seat, clutching his notebook against his chest like a shield.

A flurry of footsteps stopped right before the door of Lab Conference Room A. Reine paused for moment to catch her breath and compose herself, pressing her cheek against the wall in an attempt to make out the situation before she actually went in. For all she'd talked about trying to get back to her division.. to meet the newer trainees and catch up with older ones, there had been this strange mental block- really, she'd kept away from anyone other than her closest friends, and thrown herself headfirst into physical training.

Far from some sort of heated debate, which she'd hoped would take some attention off her, Reine caught only snatches of an accented voice, followed by someone else she didn't recognise. Making use of the lull in conversation, the intermediate trainee slipped in quietly through the door, scanned the room- too full of strangers- and picked a seat next to someone with green hair.

Better to just listen for now, until she knew what was really going on.

Leaning back in his chair, Dr. H regarded Lucky with a pleasantly surprised look. "Rather than temporary, what we need is something sustainable that will last. Though simply relying on an artifact, well, something that powerful is not only rare, but our last such walked off." Sitting up, he flipped through the papers and found one that had neat columns full of numbers.

The doctor tapped his pen once, twice, and then continued, "Unfortunately, my time is spent dealing with more battle-oriented matters at the moment. So, the group that develops a sustainable, long-lasting manner in which to power this island will receive a one-hundred thousand dollar grant to go toward their own personal projects."

He tapped the pen again.

"Next."

Holy-

Robert went from slumped without caring, to boner alert in the span of mere seconds. Sure, he had no ideas how to sustainably power the facility. But that much money did not go un-noticed.

He gave Shiloh a hesitant smile, and patted his opposite shoulder. "No. But. You know. It's cool." He leaned in and whispered quietly. "Now go figure out how to make energy so we can split a hundred thousand dollars."

Leon wasn't exactly in the best of forms. There really was no need to be decked out to the nines. Sweatpants and a t-shirt and the coat.

There was no need to properly dress up anymore.

The Life trainee was in his own daze as well, but the notion of more funds for his space project did catch his attention. Engineers were needed for this, ones other than Dwight and Mark whom in his mind, should have figured this out by now. The knowledge in sport science was not exactly going to help in this endeavor, but he would at least give it a shot, as he began to scribble ideas onto a notepad.

No explanation, Mimsy? You tease.

He snickered to himself as Noah launched right into the alternate energy discussion, showing the same intrepid curiosity he had in their first discussion. A man near Ami smiled dangerously, to which Jack bared his teeth back in a grin. So the lady was spoken for! Adorable~ This was going to be a fun division, he just knew it; a tank full of hungry sharks fun.

Their leader called for the next proposal, and while he figured he had little chance of getting much done as a trainee, throwing out an idea was better than stewing. "A suggestion," Jack piped up as he corrected his slouch. "I've heard tale about an underwater research facility and that it's been accessible for a while? If we were to have it under control, not only would we have a new lab to work in, but we would also have better eyes in the sea. Perhaps we could have seen the first titan approaching and been better equipped for their arrival, for instance. I understand our main priority is to deal with those on the surface, but as a project for the future, I believe it has its merits for both science and security endeavors."

Ol-j-man
sorry I didn't see this!

Nodding his head, the doctor glanced up at Noah, pen slowing. "Yes, once we have more power, running and upgrading the facility will definitely have merit. However, even with those upgrades, that will still be one of the most vulnerable points on the island." He continues to stare, and then smiled brightly, "I'll make sure you're on the volunteer list."
