"Sunday, huh? I'll be there. Just don't expect me at the crack of dawn,man," Jordan laughed. "I need more time than that to wake up."

He slapped Robert's back companionably. "Today got awesome in a hurry," he agreed, grinning. Then his steps slowed as something that sounded like a cross between a roar and a howl rang out from ahead of them. "I think it's showtime," he said, and grinned as the red stone on Ferros's ring lit from within. "You ready for this?"

Robert sighed longingly. "I remember the days when I didn't wake up at the ********' a** crack of dawn. I remember how good that felt. I make the worst choices in life." He rubbed his eyes and turned his head up towards the sound of roaring in the distance, grinning with excitement.

"Who, me? Course I'm ready! I was born ready!" His patient gait turned into a jog. "Let's go kick some ********' a**!"

Jordan broke into a trot to keep up, laughing. Ahead of them, the titan heaved itself up onto its hind legs from the inadequate cover of the line of dunes along the edge of the beach, its head swinging around and its glowing eyes searching for the disturbance it sensed. When it spotted the hunters, it lurched into the air with another yowling shriek.

Jordan counted steps as he ran along the path, picking up speed; eight, nine, ten, and jumped, hitting the trigger on the jetpack as he hit the top of his arc to propel himself up towards the titan. The jets cut in with a sudden blast that startled him with its force, and his jolt of surprise threw off his trajectory, sending him low and past the monster. He landed hard with a snarled curse.

HP: 55/60

This time, when the blast kicked in, Jordan was expecting it, and he'd changed the angle of his jump to compensate for the force with which the pack was launching him. He shared in Ferros's satisfaction as they soared, however briefly; when they began to fall again, they were correctly aimed, and Jordan drew the anchor from its holster while they were still in the air.

His boots hit the titan's plated back hard, and he let the momentum carry him down to sink the anchor's point deep into the crack between the thing's backplates. He grabbed the edge of a plate and braced himself as the titan roared again and shook itself, trying to dislodge him. Whether it had felt the relative pinprick of the anchor digging in or whether it had just spotted his landing, it wanted this tiny pest off.
