Shiloh wasn’t entirely familiar with the name, or the person it belonged to but the pranks seemed harmless enough, and definitely within the line of a schoolboy crush. He smiled; perhaps Maebe had herself a little not-so-secret admirer.
He was in the midst of jimmying out the rest of the coins, when the door sudden swung inwards and everything on Maebe’s side went quiet.
Getting to his feet, he grabbed onto the edge of the door that had swung back, and carefully slid it open, until it thumped on something behind it.
“Maebe?”
He carefully peered around the edge of it, only to see Maebe lying with her eyes closed on the ground, and he ignored the sticky mess that was the floor, kneeling quickly beside her.
“Maebe, wake up,” he said, shaking her. “God dammit, Maebe, only you could manage this.”
He looked around, wishing he had some water to splash in her face.
