At his praise, her blush grew even darker. Slowly the demonic pulled the flask back to her body with a nod. "...Thank you." It wasn't absolutely necessary to say it, but as shy as she was she never wanted to be rude. She was however very happy to go back to her previous position a few feet from the male to resume her search. It meant quiet, something she loved and was familiar with. Zana knew all too well though that sooner or later the male would want to...talk. Couldn't blame him. Her lips parted to attempt what pae called 'small talk' but immediately thought better of it. He probably already thought she was a wack job.

Aulii was in some ways used to silence, he often surfed by himself and hung out on the beach by himself, he had no problems with it. However, silence when with another pae was unusual, and uncomfortable. It felt stupid to Aulii that he was worried about something like that when he was combing a beach that was proving to be empty. The male sighed after what seemed like forever of finding nothing useful except for the flask. He contented himself with pick up large seashells instead, he could sharpen them up a little bit if he needed to. He was normally so chillaxed, it was odd to have to actually work and think about things for once. Now really wasn't the time for surfing. "So... pretty nice cruise we went on, huh?" It was never this awkward with other girls! Ugh, he blamed it on her.

As the day progressed, she noticed rather uncomfortably that the sun was heating up the sand. In a few hours, their walk would become much less enjoyable. We'll need shade too...or we'll face burns and sores. Her eyes jerked over to the male when he spoke, confused at first at his words. Sarcasm? Yes, he was joking. Slowly she cracked a smile, the first he'd see if he looked at her. It was faint but it was there. "Needs work on the ending though." The demonic softly replied as she resumed looking forwards. A sudden movement instantly caught her attention. A small, round scurrying. She had seen those things before! It was a...a...She frowned in thought before abandoning the effort. "Those...clamp-things...are edible, right?" The crab froze the closer they got, trying not to cause attention to itself.OOC: Decided to finally bring in the food! If they can catch it XD

Aulii wasn't entirely joking, the cruise had been great to begin with, especially the first night. He missed the smile though. She was right, the ending needed work, but they were a long way from the boat, so they clearly weren't getting to the end. "You think we've gone all the way around yet?" Aulii looked to what Zana was talking about. "Uh yeah... crabs. It's just the clamp things you have to watch out for. Aulii looked at the flask, it would be good for cracking the shell if they could catch the crab, but they didn't really have anything good for catching it that would keep them from getting pinched. "Hm..." Aulii moved into the water, trying to put the crab in between them so it wouldn't get away. "Got any ideas?" he asked her.

That...was an excellent question. Why hadn't either of them thought to put a marker to know exactly? Her nose wrinkled in thought again. "I...don't think so. No footprints." Since it was a deserted island, their footprints would be the only ones there. Hopefully. The female followed his lead, going opposite of Aulii so the crab would be in between. That was the name! Crab. It had been years since her mother had been around, teaching her the names of creatures. But if her memory for animal terms were bad, her skill at hunting was even worse. She had never hunted a day in her life. Never thought that would come back to haunt her. The only saving grace she had was a little, tiny bit of hand to hand combat training. Three years ago. So she sadly had to shake her head about the idea's question. Her best thought was both of them to come at it at once and try to catch it from behind. "...Do you see any wood?" If some piece of wood washed up on the shore from the wreckage, they could beat the thing with it.
Brutal. And a little disturbing to the gentle female. It looked like the luxury of being compassionate was over though.

Aulii sighed at their lack of resources. He moved around in the water hoping to find a piece of driftwood or something, keeping a close eye on the crab and keeping himself in a position that the crab was still trapped. Aulii could see the creature brandishing its claws towards them. He was more worried the thing was going to escape, dash off into some place they couldn't get it Aulii's foot got tangled in a big mess of kelp. It was the best and only idea that he had, Aulii picked up the giant tangle of kelp and threw it at the crab and then jumped on top of it. Hopefully the kelp was thick enough to protect him, and he would be able to hold it in place. Ok... now what, he was making this up as he went along. They really needed a fire to toss him in...

Zana watched in awe as the male smartly threw the kelp over the crab and tackled the poor sea creature. Kelp. That could be a net- "Oh!" She exclaimed before running over to help. The female dropped to her knees. "Sorry." Whether apologetic to the pae or the crab was rather uncertain. Perhaps it was to both. The female lifted her arm and shoved the palm of her hand forcefully down on top of it's shell with all her might. The soft underbelly of the crab stood no chance with the ground beneath it. CRACK! She was a gentle pae, but she was not squeamish. Slowly Zana exhaled before standing up and brushing at her knees with her free hand. As if nothing had happened.

Aulii was relieved that the female was able to take some action and help him finish what he had started. He wasn't sure what he would do just standing on a pile of kelp like that. He grinned at her, "Great! Hm, we should probably cook this up now..." It didn't sound like a good idea to leave a dead crab standing to long. Aulii scooped up the dead crab in the kelp net and flipped it over so the crab was on top. "I guess I'll go find some stuff to make a fire," The male ran up the beach and headed toward the trees, finding some pieces of dry wood and leaves that would make a decent fire, he quickly made his way back to her and set to work on it.

Poor crab. As the male ran off, she started to make herself useful by digging a hole into the sand. It was to help with the fire making, as the sand walls would shield the breeze from blowing out what ever flame he could produce before it could grow to a self sustaining size. She wasn't much of a 'survivalist'. She couldn't hunt and she didn't know how even make a fire. But she was intelligent enough to provide good insight. So when he brought back the wood to begin work on a blaze, she watched rather intently. It might be necessary for her to replicate one herself before their excursion was over.

"Oh yeah, that's a good idea." Aulii said as he came back and threw some things into the fire pit that Zana had made. He kneeled beside it, trying not to cause a cave and have the sand go into the pit. The male began whittling away with some sticks, trying to create enough friction to get a small spark going. It was a long and arduous process, and by the time he had a spark his hands felt raw. Aulii began blowing on it and soon a small fire was beginning to grow. The male fell back into the sand and sprawled out exhausted, he could barely feel his arms. "You know how to cook, right?" Aulii asked hopefully.

She blushed at his praise, glad to be helpful. Well, as glad as she possibly could be marooned on a deserted island with a stranger and no drinkable water. "How...do you know to do that?" It was a surprisingly personal question for the shy pink pae to ask. But she didn't keep in contact much with her siblings, and thus weren't around the hardier pae of the island. There were some pae who lived on the island that made fire daily. A glimmer of excitement flashed onto her features when the blaze sparked to light. Glorious warmth on her face. "Amazing." She murdered before remembering herself. He was asking her a question.
"Y-yes." Sort of. She cooked various things years back with her mother, but never crab. Fish, deer, and birds were common. What she did know though, just plopping it on the fire was a bad idea. Carefully she edged a stick out of the fire and whipped it around to get rid of the flame. When she was sure it was cool, she brushed off the burnt pieces to reveal the smooth inner wood. Zana reached over to the crab and shoved the stick into its mouth with the sterilized branch end. Shishka-crab. She then held it over the pit. "This isn't enough food." The demonic finally voiced the concern she held since they cornered the unfortunate sea creature. "A snack at best." At least that was the case if they were to split it as it would suffice for one pae's meal. If the male claimed the crab for himself, she didn't have the voice to protest.

"Got to stay warm somehow." Aulii said with a shrug of his shoulders. There was nothing quite like laying by the beach with a fire going next to you. The sound of the waves, the crack of the wood, the warm glow in the pitch black. "Would you mind?" Aulii asked, "I'm not trying to be lazy, but I am a little beat. There are easier ways to make a fire, but we don't have such luxuries." He actually was pretty lazy sometimes, but he didn't think he could even lift the crab right now. He sighed, though she might not be able to see it because he was staring up at the sky. "No, you're probably right, but it should be enough to hold us over until we find something else. I'll look for fish or something after I'm feeling up to it."

OOC: She was holding the stick over the pit to cook the crab, not to hand it to him <.<;; BIC: At his standoffish responses, the female quickly clammed up again. She had forgotten herself and spoken boldly when he was there only as a partner. Not a friend. Zana quickly settled back into her silence, letting the crackling of the fire be the only source of sound as she held onto her shishka-crab. Just like with red meat and bread, the sea creature was changing colors. It's shell was turning a distinct red, like bread and skin would become golden. While she couldn't be completely certain, she surmised the cooking process was finished, and pulled the stick away from the flame to begin it's cool down.

Tartara Seabreeze He wasn't trying to grab it? I was just explaining how he didn't have the strength to lift a crab even if he wanted to because he was so worn out. Aulii could smell the crab cooking most of the time that he spent resting. A few times he would rub his arms, trying to massage feeling back into them. The silence was uncomfortable, but Aulii didn't have much to say either. After a while he finally began to sit up, wondering how he might go about catching the fish that he promised for later. The sticks might do alright, he was probably going to make a fool out of himself with several failed attempts at spearing a fish first. "Looking good," Aulii finally broke the silence with a small smile.

While the pair enjoyed their small bounty, peace settled over the beach. In the water, a lone, graceful figure moved through the water like a dancer, or foam on the waves, all in one...
Then another, and another, and six more, a dozen, scores...
If the pair attempted to enter the water, they would make a dangerous discovery. Apparently, a jellyfish migration had chosen this particular evening and this particular island to make its halt on its journey. They surrounded the small island, drifting here and there on the currents, long tentacles waving in a graceful, yet threatening manner.
At times, a larger shape may be seen moving through them, but one can never get a clear look at what it was. It will be a few days before the jellyfish clear from the surrounding waters.
