Crossing his arms over his chest and laughing at her response, Hjortur nodded. "Yeah, sounds pretty good to me!" He offered a hand to Thalia to help her stand, only letting it go when she seemed to have a good footing. "By foot, your food not mine, something along the lines of 15 to 30 minutes, I would think. Not sure how long it actually is, since I use the water." Looking to the stuff on the beach, he shrugged.
"Considering this all got here, it probably floats. If it does, that would make moving things a lot simpler." Particularly those water jars. As convenient as they were meant to be, they really were more of a pain than anything at this moment. Waiting a few moments, he moved to start returning the things back to the edge of the shore. Maybe she could push them into the water after he was transformed again and could keep them from floating away.

She appreciated the help standing, as her balance was still quite unstable. Fifteen minutes to half an hour? ...She could do that. She could do that. Thalia took a deep breath and looked around at all the stuff they had to bring with them. It would probably move a lot more simply in the water, this was true, but... hm... "Is there anything we could use to tie it all together?" That way they didn't have to worry about any of it floating away or getting knocked loose from the rest of it. With them unsure as to where, exactly, they were, she wasn't keen on losing any supplies if they didn't absolutely have to. Sure, he could probably keep it all securely in place, but... she'd rather cut down on unnecessary worry altogether. Plus, they had no idea who, or what, else was there with them. Thalia would really rather they both be able to keep their hands as free as possible. Sure, the water might not really float, but... it should be simple enough to drag them underwater, she figured.

"Oh, that's an even better idea!" Hjortur chimed as his eyes moved away, looking from their stuff to the sand. While there wasn't anything of the sort of rope that she might be familiar with, he was well aware of the usefulness of seaweed for such things.
And there was plenty of it adorning the white sands of the beach.
Motioning to it, he made sure he had her attention before running over and picking up a nice-looking piece. Pulling lightly to test it's strength, he nodded with a smile before holding it up and waving it at Thalia. "This should work just fine," he called out as he set it back down and moved to retrieve their stuff.
Or, really, this all looked to be his stuff. Rather than try and store the decorative pieces, he adorned himself with it. Excluding the haircomb, of course. That, he motioned to place in the angel's hair bun, again as decoration.
This left them with the bongos, wine, and water to move. The first was rather light, so hopefully they would float easily and not require a strong bond to keep them connected. The others, well, that could prove more difficult considering their weight. Best fine out the extension of the damage directly, right? With a sigh, he started to return the water jars back to the ocean's waves, setting them side by side, one by one, followed by the wine.
Man. Come this night, he was going to crack open that delectable liquid and drink himself into a stupor.
This time, Hjortur sat in the sand and sort of wiggled himself into the waves, letting his legs return to normal before turning around and motioning for her to help him get the things in the water.

Seaweed? She looked down where some more of it had washed up on the shore, in varying colours of red and green and brown. It had never occurred to her before to use it as a rope or tie, but, then again, she'd never been left in a near-aquatic environment with no resources before. Carefully finding and fetching more seaweed, she began to braid it into a stronger weave. She knew a similar mechanism worked for grasses, and hoped it worked for sea grasses too. Him putting the haircomb in her hair surprised her, but she rewarded the gesture with a warm, if startled, smile. Him wearing the decorative pieces did catch her attention, a bit, even if the light glinting off of some of it gave her spots in her vision. Pondering how to remark on it, or if she should remark on it, Thalia obliged his request for help as quickly as she could. Her dizziness, while still definitely present, was abating somewhat, and that was very helpful in her getting the things down to him without fumbling or damaging anything. While she had been expecting it, the appearance of his tail was still enough to take her a bit aback. She took a deep breath and worked on moving the last of it into the water. She did what she could to guarantee nothing sensitive would get too wet, but was fully expecting everything would be at least damp by the time they reached their destination. She made sure it was secure- that seaweed braid came in handy- and, once finished, gave Hjortur a thumbs-up. "I think we're ready to go."

Yes, the placement of the comb was definitely one of his better ideas, as her smile brought one to his own lips. "Oh, wonderful idea," Hjortur commented as he saw her start to braid the seaweed, something he'd forgotten about. Many of the young palace girls had taken a fancy to doing just that to busy themselves, each time finding new and more intricate ways to go about it. Not very practical, usually, but it was pretty...
Nope! Not the time to get caught up in the past! Taking the rope from her, he nodded a thanks before using it to tie everything together. This way, he could pull it with him in the water, which would be far easier. Upon finishing that, he returned the thumbs up. "Yup, it all looks good on my end too!"
And at that, he started swimming along the shore again, keeping in pace with her. It was a bit more awkward with the new additions, but nothing he couldn't handle. "Now, it's nothing amazing, but it should work. Hopefully. Certainly." He was optimistic about the situation; you had to be to keep your wits about you.

She had to admit that his complimenting her foresight as far as the braided seaweed went did bring a bit of pleased colour to her face. And now that they were getting on their way, even better! Thalia watched attentively as he tied everything together, trying to be an extra pair of eyes to make sure that everything was secure. Everything seemed alright, anyway, and she was glad to get moving. Even as much as her head still spun if she moved too quickly, that they were doing something eased her mind quite a bit. Thalia was grateful he didn't move too quickly in the water, speaking of her head spinning. She was alright for now, especially giving little half-flaps of her wings now and then for stability, but she'd be lying if she said she wasn't considering joining him in the water. Surely floating would be easier? ...Maybe. She wasn't sure how well she could float. His optimism helped, too. She had to admit that it would've been very unfortunate to have been stranded with someone who saw gloom and doom in everything. Taking a deep, sharp breath instinctively when she stumbled under a wave of dizziness, Thalia looked ahead to where their destination would be. ...She could make it. She should make it. She would make it.

Even in the water, the weight of their stuff was rather heavy and tugging to be pulled along in the current. Great. He hadn't noticed that he was swimming against it the first time, but, then again, he hadn't been dragging along a bunch of stuff either. Nor had be been paying much attention to anything but the shore.
Man, this was a pain.
That said, he kept any complaining or curses to himself, not wanting to ruin the calm mood about them or make Thalia worry about him in any way. After this was done... Or after they made camp... That sweet, sweet red wine was his, and thoughts of getting to enjoy it and again play some music on his flute or on the bongos were what kept him going.
That, and the pretty lady walking near him, of course. Every once in a while, he would find his eyes wander off to stare at her. Man, he'd lucked out! If there was any one pae that he could be stranded with, someone as beautiful as her was certainly a rarity.
Not that being cast off a cruise ship and swept to a remote island wasn't rare.
After some minutes, he came to feel the current stronger, recognizing that they were nearing the mouth of the river. "Hey, I will be going into the river up ahead if you would prefer to begin turning right," Hjortur called out to her. To fight the current, he would need to concentrate on swimming and would likely remain under the water.
And when it came time for it, that was just what he did, not returning to the surface for some minutes. He was a decent bit up the river when he did, water dripping from his hair as he looked to the side and making sure that Thalia had come the same way.

She was a bit off in her own world as they moved upstream, finding that letting her mind wander helped pull her headache down into vestigial thumps against the inside of her skull. Not that this was very helpful in freeing her mind to think. Thalia quickly found that, instead, she had continued difficulty in nailing down any concrete thoughts. But she supposed she'd just have to deal with that. It wouldn't help anything to get frustrated with something she couldn't really actually do anything about. Instead, she allowed her gaze to shift sideways towards the naiad in the river, gaze critically assessing the status of the load he was hauling. If Thalia was going to lag slightly behind, she might as well make herself useful and spot any problems before they became actual problems. It took her a moment to realise what he'd called to her, but within a heartbeat she'd nodded and given a short wave to indicate that she'd heard him. Turning right as instructed, she made sure to keep herself at an angle to the water, to keep it within reasonable distance so that she could hear if he called towards her again, and so that she wouldn't lose her way. She arrived at their destination shortly after he did, a bit out of breath and dizzy, but fighting valiantly from letting that show or stop her as she rejoined him. "This is the place?" Thalia asked, looking around.

The sheltered area that Hjortur had discovered seemed peaceful enough. The close trees provided shade from the sun above, keeping the area cooler than the beach had been. The fresh water bubbled from its unknown source, clean and clear, mostly shaded as well in this location. With water and shade, if they could just find some food, they'd be set.
Beneath the shade of one tree amongst some stones, a small bottle lay abandoned. It was corked with a stopper, but despite there being no other sign of anyone else in the area, it did not seem to have been left there overly long. In fact, the bottle seemed quite clean and new, the contents clear, but lightly colored. It was an intriguing object, given its placement, though it wasn't as if they needed anything to drink so badly that they'd consider strange bottles when they had a supply of fresh water...right?
((Thalia and Hjortur have discovered a breeding potion! However, this potion has some conditions attached to it.
While this pair showed some chemistry and promise, they have not RPed enough to show a developed relationship with one another yet, as was the point of this contest. So, this potion may not be used immediately; however, if the pair continue to be RPed in a manner showing the development of a relationship with one another following the end of this contest, then the next time that breeding slots are opened, they may receive a free breeding if these conditions have been met.
In the meantime, any limitations on powers and natural abilities such as flight and swimming have been lifted. Remember that the events that occurred here are canon, so Thalia and Hjortur will need to find their way back home. There will be more information provided in the event wrap-up post to follow soon.))

Swimming into the small tide pool with their things, he moved to drag them ashore and sat on the banks, nodding and smiling to her. "Yes, this was the place I found. Cozy, no?" Stretching, he sighed and cracked his neck from a hard day's work, looking around at the lovely scenery about them. "I think we should be safe here, at least to rest and recover from that wreck," at this he paused, looking at her more closely before kicking up his tail from the water, separating it to feet as he did so and resting them in the water for a moment before standing up to move over to her.
Offering her an arm, he smiled lightly. "Are you sure you're fine? I'm no doctor, but I think you need a rest more than I. At least a full day's." He nodded as he added in the last part, doing so more as an afterthought. Waiting until she took his offer of support, which he would not let her refuse, he walked with her to a nicely shaded area with softer sand, which was warm in contrast to the light breeze flowing through the leaves.
After she was sat, he moved to better drag their things closer to the shore before returning to sit on the bank, bongos in hand, and began drumming on them in what he thought was a nice, tropical-sounding tune. Anything else that might have been in their surroundings was lost to him the moment he began playing.

It was cozy, and she was pleased to see that it wasn't terribly open to the elements, either. At least, not as much as a cove might be. Being a creature of land rather than ocean, that was a detail that Thalia appreciated. At the same time, she also appreciated the smell of the water, and the sound of it. Seeing him turn his tail to legs was a point of curious fascination for her, though she was sure not to stare at him. Time to rest and recover... Ah, yes, she would deeply appreciate that. And she appreciated his assistance, even if a note of pride coated her thanks in a murmur of embarrassment and a "I'll survive" to his inquiry. It did steady her, kept her head from swimming quite as much as she walked to where he led her. At least he had not picked her up and carried her. That would have been a point of contention! But warm sand, shade, a light breeze... A hum that was content despite their overarching situation, she sank gratefully to that warm sand, wiggling her toes in it a bit. There was a note of regret that she could not help him pull their things ashore; seeing someone else work on their own while she sat there made her a bit restless, but she understood why she shouldn't get up and help him. She was very sure she'd sustained a blow to the head at some point, something she shouldn't risk aggravating. Especially not this far from anything resembling a doctor. It was also pleasant to hear his drumming, and she reclined back on her elbows to watch his hands on the instrument. Her fingers tapped into the sand, keeping time with a beat that allowed her to, for the moment, ignore the fact that she was stranded on an island somewhere in the middle of nowhere. It was more like this was a vacation, a vacation she had- to be honest- rather needed. With warm sand leeching the soreness from her body and music that was delightful to her ears, she allowed herself to actually relax.

Time seemed to pass slowly as the pair of pae sat underneath the trees, the sun gradually falling across the sun. Feeling a tingling in his skin, the patter of hands upon the drums quieted slowly, a yawn escaping Hjortur's lips before he lifted his hands upwards to stretch. He looked over to the angel, smiling, as he set them down on the sand. "I have to return to the water for now, if you would excuse me."
The naiad waited a moment before standing up to walk over to the water. At the water's edge, he looked down before leaning back to propel himself in in a dive, his legs transforming back into fins upon hitting the surface.
After feeling refreshed in the cool waters, he returned to the surface. More time would be needed to fully replenish his skin, but this way he could at least continue to keep Thalia company. If she wanted company, anyways. Sighing, he let his eyes drift across the shoreline until they came upon what appeared to be a corked bottle of sorts, just resting in the sand beneath a tree. "I believe I have found something," he called out, motioning towards the bottle, before swimming that way.
As he reached it, his hands carefully took its smooth surface and turned it around, the colorful liquid moving around inside. "It appears that something else from the ship washed up!" Swimming back, he sat himself on the shore closest to her and held it up. "It's a drink of some sorts."

She watched with some fascination as he returned to the water to resoak himself. The notion of having to stay this close to water was something of a novelty to her, who could wander as far from water as she wished so long as she still had some to drink. The sun glinting off the surface made her squint and aggravated her headache, but she watched anyway until the ripples faded away. Inhaling the scent of the sea, she closed her eyes and leaned back again. Thalia must have dozed off when she found herself startling awake from Hjortur's voice further down the shoreline. Yawning and propping herself up on her elbows, she squinted to see what he was after. She couldn't quite see the bottle until just as he was lifting it out of the sand and her curiosity was burning by the time he returned with the object. A drink? Well, that was definitely what it looked like! Her stomach was still uneasy, though, so she wasn't too sure she should try that immediately. "Any idea what kind it is?" she called back. "Is it likely to be poisonous?" Couldn't be too careful.

By this point, the sky had begun to be tinted with deep reds and oranges as the sun sank below the horizon. The naiad knew he was still dehydrated, but figured he could venture away for a few extra minutes without it becoming too painful. For this, he leaned back and kicked his tail fin into the air, two legs separating from it before he turned and, jar in hand, returned to the goddess's side.
Crouching down, he held it out for her to see. "It resembles our jarred water. Poison, I highly doubt it if its source is from the ship's wreckage." Setting it down, he waited for her to look at it before continuing. "We best continue to drink only the water until you feel better. But..." He gave a smile as he continued, "...Surely that will happen soon, so, we can look forward to this then." He turned to look at the sky, sighing lightly. "It appears that night draws near." It was warm enough outside right now with barely a breeze to cool it further, but still...
"Perhaps it is best if we sleep with the sun?" He certainly had no idea how to make fire to keep the area lit, so... Well... what else could he suggest? Especially given her condition.
If she did want to remain awake and speak, well, he could do that too.
