Finn reached up to run fingers through his messy hair with a free hand, at least making an attempt at straightening what couldn't be seen before. It was getting long, a bit longer then he necessarily liked, and he had been considering changing the color for the last week or so, just to shake things up a bit. "It's no problem, really." He mumbled, still so very tempted to put his hat back on and hide the terrible disarray that was his current hairstyle.

He gave his head a small shake at the questions. "Don't get all excited thinking that just because I've been here longer means that I've 'seen things'. I haven't. I haven't really done anything at all, except train for the day that I'll be needed. And...no, things have not gotten easier, Abbi. Look around you." He glanced upwards towards the unlit lights above, and then down to the fact that he was holding an MRE in his hands and not actual, real food.

As for places to see, he shrugged. "There's the labs, though if you go in there be prepared for a bunch of the Lifers to want to experiment on you. The library is a nice place for some quiet time, and has lots of interesting books to read. The infirmary, if you ever want to get your feet wet with the healing aspect, though to start with the most they'll want you for is changing out bed pans or disposing of dirty bandages...."

He gave his head another shake. "You know what, tomorrow. I can show you around a bit if you want, though I uh...still get lost trying to find my way around." It wasn't something he liked to admit, but if he was going to offer himself up for guided tours it was probably something he should mention.

And then back to the food at hand. Finn had to remind himself that this girl was probably in her teens, possibly not even reaching adult status yet. Why would she know what an MRE is? So he gave her one of his smiles, the one that left his eyes empty and cold.

"It's your dinner. And breakfast. And lunch. Midnight snack? Everything." He brought his package up to his teeth and tore it open, propping Trynt up so that he was leaning against and resting on the front of his shoulder, balanced so that he didn't fall to the floor. He then reached in, pulling out one of the many smaller packages within.

"Baked snack crackers. Delicious~" Was that a hint of sarcasm in his voice? "Cheese flavored. Perfect, my favorite." Yes, that was definitely sarcasm.

"Well, you were hungry, right? Better eat up. Can't let a delicious meal like this go to waste."

Slowly the plastic packet was turned around between her hands, the girl's eyes trying to peer through the plastic. There felt like a lot of things in here, tightly packed but still there. Whatever deep reflection Abbi had been doing regarding the MRE was interrupted by Finn's honest explanation of things. Surprised that he'd said her name, the teen looked up at him with wide eyes before she turned them out toward the room.
It was dark out there, save for the small little halo of light from the weapon. A MRE was in her hands, something she'd not really heard of before besides knowing that soldiers in far away places ate them. That she had 'come at a bad time', something many people had said to her. Things were not good.
"I didn't... Its just that... This was supposed to be..."
{ Not really the upgrade ye was hopin'? }
Though it was only the first day, Viveca had poked around in Abbi's mind enough to know that things were beginning to stir disappointment in her heart.

As much as the disappointment weighed on her, to hear that there were things to do was a bit uplifting. Practically (and a bit physically) jumping at the opportunity, Abbi clutched the MRE to her chest.
"OK SO. The labs is good except experimenting is bad. What kind of experiments? Have you had anything, yanno, done to you?" He seemed like a wordly kind of guy, he'd probably had lots of experiments done on him! A gasp interrupted her own thoughts.
"There's a library here!? Omigosh where!? I'm guessing there aren't like, computers or anything? I mean probably if they did they'd be down like everything else around here... But wow! Is it a big library?" Big eyes blinked at Finn, a sign that he should tell her all the things about this awesome sounding library.
But, oh! An infirmary! So there was one around here! That was awesome but having to change out bedpans and dirty bandages sounded awful. And definitely not what she wanted to do on her first few days...

The excited gestures all ceased when a tour was offered and, despite the warning from Viveca, Abbi stepped closer.
"I don't mind getting lost. Getting lost can be fun!" She told Finn in an eager, mildly hushed tone. "I think a tour would be really great!"
While he tore into his pack, the teen turned her's over in her hands once more. She was still feeling snacky, but maybe it would be best to leave now and save any more awesome conversation for their tour.
"I'm... A little more tired than I thought. Maybe I should eat this in my room?" She suggested with a helpful smile, as though that was the greatest idea ever and he should totally agree. But then again, for a girl like Abbi, she was kind of hoping he would offer to walk her back.
