Taking down everything Xiu said as mental notes, Sulmanon decided she would have to fly over the dorms later to make sure that she could locate the building the other ghoul was talking about. Wings came in extremely handy when scoping out new terrain.

When Xiu started mentioning the different places she'd show Sulmanon on the tour, she simply replied "Whatever you think would be best." since the ghoul was already going out of her way to help her.

At the mention of classes, Sulmanon fumbled around for a bit until she pulled out a scrap of parchment and handed it over to Xiu. If she did not have to locate her classes herself, then all the better.

Kaiyumi
Sounds like a good idea to me. ^_^

She perked up as she was handed the class list, humming thoughtfully as she skimmed over it. "A nice set of classes!" Xiu chirped once she finally reached the end, "Let me show you to each one, just so that your first few days aren't too hectic!"

She offered the schedule back before leading Sulmanon into the main school building, bringing her to each class in the order listed on her schedule so that she would have a decent idea of how apart each room was. "The professors usually give us a lot of time for groupwork," The baku added, halfway through the tour, "And the classes are usually a mix of first years to third years, so don't be afraid to socialize!"

Making friends and forming bonds had been among the most important things that Xiu had done at Amityville, especially considering the situation the school had been plunged into. At the reminder of the Hunter and Horsemen conflict, the ghoul hesitated before turning to look at Sulmanon.

"By the way...can you fight?"

As she was led about, Sulmanon did her best to create a mental map of the buildings, noting which ones, as Xiu explained, were for what. When Xiu mentioned the bit about group work, Sulmanon's face visibly brightened. This meant she'd have more of a chance at meeting other races, even if it would probably be awkward walking up to most of the upperclassmen. She just hoped that she would not, unknowingly, upset any of them. From her reading, she knew that some races had deep set grudges against others.

At the question of fighting, Sulmanon frowned a little. "I was taught a little bit about fighting, but I've never had the need to put my knowledge to the test." Back home, no one had wanted to hurt her, for fear of her parents, so she had never really fought before.

Kaiyumi
I read over the battling guide, but I'm still a little unsure about using fear in battle. I did post on the Fear Mechanics page, because reading it over, it did say that to use a fear you needed to get approval there and I did not know if that was in affect for all Y1 students. @_@

Hhm...Xiu couldn't say that she was entirely surprised by the answer--she hadn't known how to fight upon first arriving at Amity, and neither had most of her other friends, but circumstances had forced them to pick up self-defense quite quickly. Lately, the ability to protect oneself and one another had honestly become rather important, what with the number of potential threats that had been showing up.

"It might be a good idea to practice," She confessed, trying to keep her troubled look off of her face, "Um...the gym is good for that! If you can find other students who are willing to spar, I definitely suggest taking them up on their offer."

Hoping that she didn't sound too suspicious, the ghoul hastily added, "I mean the school wants to see you improve not only mentally, but physically too, so...!"

Ariaalina
I can't remember if you still need to get approval for your FEAR--I can doublecheck later tonight--but otherwise, what are you uncertain about? C:

Unfortunately for Xiu, Sulmanon caught the note in her voice. "Is there anything here I'd really need to defend myself from, except for, maybe and irate student or teacher?" she asked, wondering what could have upset the ghoul. Sulmanon had known that she had been sheltered, but she would have thought that she would have heard if there was something dangerous here. If there actually wasn't then there was nothing for her to worry about, but if there was, she needed to make sure her parents did not catch wind of it. She did not want them to force her back home.

When Xiu started trying to rationalize what she had said, that only cemented in Sulmanon's mind that there was something hidden here.

Kaiyumi
The thing I'm most uncertain about is the dice. Are we supposed to use the same dice as in the example for the fear type? (Sulmanon's is swift strikes)
PostPosted: Sun Sep 01, 2013 10:17 pm

She hesitated before slowly shaking her head, the smile on her face faltering. "Things have been...kind of quiet lately," Aside from that "end of the world" close call of course, "But sometimes you might find yourself dragged into a fight or into the middle of a conflict. I'd advise you to exercise a little caution around the Horsemen too. They're not all bad, but..."

She trailed off with a shake of her head. If there was one thing that Xiu absolutely hated, it was dragging first years into this mess. She had learned months ago with her friend Sophie that it was impossible to keep them out of the conflict, but a part of her still wanted to try.

And the other, more practical part told her that it would probably be more effective if she encouraged them to learn self-defense rather than try and coddle them.

Ariaalina
C: Your basic attack dice right now is 2d6 -6, as outlined here. For your FEAR, you can only use it once per battle, and yup! You use the dice mechanics (level one, since your character is only a first year) under the "Swift Strikes" FEAR category~

"Horsemen?" Sulmanon asked. She had read of a group of people known as horsemen before, but those were only myths, right? If they weren't, then what else was there around her that she thought of as a myth that wasn't? Then, noting Xiu's seeming discomfort, Sulmanon smiled and said, You don't really have to worry about me though, dragons are known for being resilient.", hoping that she could reassure the ghoul. The last thing she wanted was for anyone to think of coddling her.

Kaiyumi
Okay, thanks. I added her dice to her journal so that I would not forget or have to go digging. ^_^

Xiu nodded, brows creasing as her frown deepened. "I'm not sure if you got to see them for yourself, but after their islands were destroyed, the four Horsemen clans moved to Halloween instead. They're...polite for the most part, but I'm...personally a little uneasy around them." They shared beliefs that clashed against her own. While she understood that it was in their nature, the fact that they were not above killing or torturing humans made the baku ghoul a little queasy.

It didn't help that Halloween creatures needed humans alive to harvest FEAR either.

She found herself smiling at the reassurance despite herself, her expression softening slightly. "I...yes, I'm sorry. I've been told that I like to fret and nag a little too much for my own good." Looking embarrassed, she lifted a hand and rubbed the back of her neck. "If you're ever in need of a sparring partner, please don't be afraid to ask me. I promise I'm stronger than I look."

"No, I never got to see them. What is it about them that makes you uneasy though?" Sulmanon asked. If they had some neighbors she did not know about, she would be interested in meeting them, as long as they were safe to meet. From Xiu's uneasiness, Sulmanon thought that there was a good chance that that was not the case. Still, her curiosity was piqued.

"So far, I haven't seen you fret and nag too much, it's just that my parents treated me like a porcelain doll, and I hated every moment of it." Sulmanon said remembering. Her parents had not wanted her to do anything really, so she could stand a little fretting, but not on her parent's level.

"I may take you up on the sparring sometime, but I'd prefer to take you up on the cooking first." Sulmanon replied with a smile. After all, it was her wish to be able to cook, not necessarily to be able to fight.

Kaiyumi
I'm probably not going to be on again till late today. I'm heading to a Renaissance Festival. ^_^

She chewed lightly on her bottom lip, considering her response. "Sometimes some of them just seem...bloodthirsty. I don't mind fighting if it's for self-defense, but killing--even for revenge--is a little..." Xiu trailed off with a shake of her head.

Her expression became sympathetic as Sulmanon mentioned her parents, as the baku's own parents had been (and still were, when she visited) somewhat stifling. Lips curling upwards in a faint smile, she gestured out towards their surroundings. "Well, besides the school rules and regulations, you're pretty much allowed free roam here at Amity. It might be a nice breather for you."

"And of course!" Xiu laughed, lifting a hand to cover her mouth, "I'm definitely up to giving you a hand with both of these things."

As she continued the tour, she led the other ghoul to the cafeteria--where she described the food with a faint grimace--and then the aforementioned gym.

Ariaalina
Phew, I was out for most of the day too. @u@ Hope you had/are having fun at your fair!

"Wait a second, killing?" Sulmanon practically screamed. She thought that was illegal and completely illogical, after all, if you killed the humans where would you get the fear from? She decided that, if she ever did meet a horseman, she'd have to be wary of them, though her curiosity also demanded that she ask why in the world they'd try to kill off their source of fear.

At the comment of the school being a breather, Sulmanon had to chuckle. Most people thought of school as nothing but boring classes, but here was a ghoul who thought the same way she did. "As long as my parents don't visit, it should be." she said, stifling her chuckles.

When the ghoul reaffirmed her promise to teach her how to cook, Sulmanon just smiled in response and followed while Xiu continued the tour. When they got to the creepateria, she wondered what they could have done in there to produce that smell. Hearing Xiu's description of the food, she hoped that she'd never have to eat there or, at least, that she could bring food from elsewhere.

Following Xiu to the gym, Sulmanon decided to ask a question that had been tugging at her curiosity for a while. "You said sparring was allowed here. Are there any rules for the spars? Like fear limitations or when to stop fighting?"

Kaiyumi
Yes I had a ton of fun, though I must admit that there were a ton of things tempting me to buy them. Things I don't have the money for... XD
PostPosted: Tue Sep 03, 2013 10:01 pm

Xiu hastily held her hands up in front of her, a subtle attempt at reassuring the ghoul. "I think it's...in their nature, maybe? I'm not entirely clear on what they do myself, but..." But it was bad for Halloween if they ever decided to go against the peaceful times.

As it was, the baku didn't want to condemn all of them based off of what could possibly happen and what they could potentially do, but she still couldn't shake her uneasiness regardless. Some of them seemed friendly enough, but she had witnessed first hand the brutality that they could reveal under certain circumstances.

But maybe that was enough of such a topic. She didn't want to make Sulmanon too uncomfortable on her first day, after all, and she had already said too much. "Um...aside from that, though...! I haven't seen many--or any--parents visit the school, really, so maybe you'll be safe from that at least." Xiu grinned, before turning her attention back to the tour.

"Rules for sparring...well, no limitation for FEAR I don't think, since that's one of the things we students have to practice." Cupping her cheek, she furrowed her brows and hummed thoughtfully, "I don't think there's a hard rule about when to stop fighting since accidents do happen...but it's polite to do so either immediately after breaking your opponent's FEAR shield or sometime before that. Going too far can result in knocking out the other student or--in the worst case--causing them to dissipate."

Ariaalina
...Wow sorry for the wall of dialogue LOL adfaksf and good to hear that you had fun! OuO I've never been to one myself, but they sound neeeeeat~

Not fully reassured, Sulmanon tried to put the issue out of her head until she could actually hear the Horseman's side of the story. If what Xiu said was not just a rumor, Sulmanon was not quite sure how she would react.

Shaking her head to clear those darker thoughts, Sulmanon managed a small smile when Xiu told her that parents rarely visited the school. Knowing her parents, unless it was required, they probably would not want to mingle with non-dragons, meaning her freedom should be safe, like the ghoul had said.

Hearing the answer to her question on fighting, Sulmanon nodded. Those rules sounded fair and should keep the students safe. When Xiu started mentioning the repercussions of going to far though, Sulmanon had one new question. "When students dissipate, where do they go? I'd hate to have to travel all the way here from home again." If she did dissipate and go home, her parents would probably try to use that incident to convince her that the school was too dangerous and try to force her to stay there. They had already tried the "too dangerous" card when trying to dissuade her from coming, though.

Kaiyumi
They are very neat and I don't mind walls of text as long as they aren't over 300 words. XD

Also, I have read the guide so I know the answer to Sulmanon's question, but she doesn't. XP

Now that the conversation had turned to a topic that she was more comfortable in answering, the ghoul seemed quite at ease as she turned to survey the familiar gymnasium. "Not to worry! Under the circumstances that someone is accidentally dissipated, they just reform in the nurse's office." She paused, and then let out a little laugh.

"If at all possible, it'd be best to avoid going that far altogether, though."

She had never been dissipated in a friendly spar, but she had been knocked out, which was rather unpleasant in and of itself. She hoped that Sulmanon wouldn't have to face the same hassle but...well, it seemed like every student was destined to get beat up in a spar eventually.

Shaking her head, Xiu perked up. "Hmm, those were the main areas that I wanted to show you! Was there anything else in particular that you were interested in?"

Ariaalina
/o/ Mmkay! And it made sense for her to ask alskfjadf <33

Sighing in relief, Sulmanon then smiled. That was one worry off of her chest, but it raised more questions. So, she immediately asked the first two questions that popped into her head. "Where is the nurse's office? Also, who is the nurse?"

Then Xiu made the comment about it being better to avoid going there anyways. Quite frankly, Sulmanon agreed, but it was good to know what would happen in case of accidents, or unfriendly people. Sometimes those situations could not be avoided. Especially if the other students wanted to spar, like the ghoul had mentioned.

At the question of if there was anything else in particular that she wanted to know, Xiu got pelted with questions from the curious dragon. "Is there anywhere we are not allowed to go or is the entire campus free to explore? Are there any caves nearby? Is there anywhere you'd recommend to visit? What are the teachers like? Are all of the other students as nice as you? Is there anything I should bring for the cooking lesson tomorrow? Is there anyone nearby that I should avoid? How many different races are represented on campus? Is there a library?" Somehow, she managed to get all of these questions out in one breath. Inhaling deeply after the onslaught of questions, she decided to give Xiu a chance to answer before asking any more questions.

Kaiyumi
She asked a curious dragon if she wanted to know anything... Could I be in character and not ask a ton of questions? XD
