“But this worked so, case in point.” Luckily Amrita didn’t linger on the wedding magazines thing…but then again, this entire game, if Hel was to lose more, would be a very sensitive thing. Hel didn’t handle getting poked at about embarrassing things well.
The reaper made a face at Amrita’s confession, and then collected the cards to reshuffle and deal them out.

"The Gelatinous Cube Monster that gave out school supplies when I first enrolled." It seemed like a surprise to her that someone didn't know who Mr. Blobby was, but hey, that was okay, she supposed. Different times and all.
Another win, and another expectant stare at Hel. So far, so good.

“Oooh…never heard of it.” Amrita was just so old. That was before Hel’s time. The ghoul puffed out her cheeks as Amrita wiped the floor with her once more.
“When I was a scareling I did not like having my photograph taken because I thought the camera was going to steal my soul.”
That’s why Hel looked so grumpy in all of her child pictures.
Damn it. Amrita needed to lose more so that Hel could get to the good stuff.

"It was really gross. You had to reach inside him to try and grab some supplies." Amrita made a face remembering, recalling how terrified she had been of being sucked in and stuck there forever. Luckily that didn't really happen, and she had Tahki rescue her every now and then too.
"...How would a camera steal your soul?" She couldn't help but ask, honestly curious; cameras had never frightened her, she just never liked what she saw as a result of them. It was Hel's turn for a win, even if it was a close one, and the patchwork stared thoughtfully down at the cards, searching her memories again.
"I was in the school play in my first year. Tess and I both played the Mayor of Halloween, you know, from Jack's time? I sat on her shoulders and I was the happy face." Or was it the depressed face? She couldn't remember anymore.

“Huh.” Hel’s brows furrowed. “I wonder what happened to him then…” She trailed off for a moment, before she puffed out her cheeks again. “I do not know…one flash and then POOF! Your soul is captured by magic from the device! Or so I thought. It was like Oogy Boogey roulette or something!”
Hel paused in collecting the cards and shuffling again, as she listened to Amrita’s story.
“Uh…” She laughed a bit. “How is that embarrassing?” She couldn’t see why.

"I had two lines and forgot both of them." Amrita pressed her lips together. "Actually that whole play was crazy, it went so off track..." She shook her head sadly.
She won by a hair, and this time she did toss a small grin at Hel.

Okay, Hel laughed loudly at that. “Only two lines, eh? I sure hoped you improvised…that would have been way more interesting! Ah well…” She snorted as Amrita mentioned a school play going off track…yeah….yeaaaaaaaah she understood that.
The reaper pouted briefly as Amrita barely beat her, and hummed a bit as she squinted at the ceiling.
“I….” She drawled. “Hate being called ‘cute’ .”

"No, I took Tess', and luckily she knew mine." She shrugged. "And now is being called cute embarrassing?" That was something she both did and didn't understand, but she didn't think it really belonged in a game like this.
When she won again, she stared at the cards and then up at Hel. "Also, that answer doesn't count as this story, okay?"

“Being called cute is demeaning…” Hel grumbled. “There is nothing flattering about being cute…that is for small scarelings to be called that!”
Hel’s brow twitched as Amrita kept…winning. Who did she think she was? Charlie Scream? Damn her. “Ya, ya…” Hel muttered, idly waving one of her hands about before she pursed her lips.
“I watch porn so that I can laugh at how stupid the story leading up to the smut is.” Hrm…okay, maybe that wasn’t embarrassing to Hel…but then again, it wasn’t something you’d just tell someone over dinner so…it counted.

"Who would call you cute, anyway?" Amrita blinked at her, honestly curious...and then she realized how it sounded, and put her hands up defensively. "I don't mean that in a bad way! It's just...cute is usually reserved for small and scared things, right? Like Jove, or that new ghoul with the skull hat." Or herself, when she was a rotting little girl with no sense of direction. "You're neither of those things. You're pretty, and determined, but I don't think you fit cute." She felt better when she explained herself, but she still felt odd about even having to do it. "You know what I mean, don't you?"
The new secret wasn't any better than the old secret, and Amrita was just staring at her blankly.
"How is watching porn embarrassing?" Honestly, she didn't get how that would be embarrassing at all. Was Hel even playing the same game? Like always when she lost, Amrita looked down thoughtfully.
"I've never been able to keep a date for events like Prom or Scarentines." She started, which seemed embarrassing to her. "I mean, I've gone to them with a date, but they always ended up with someone else." Which was why she didn't have a date at all this year; it didn't bother her so much to leave alone again.

“Oh, creeple trying to piss me off!” Hel huffed before she blew out a breath. “Like Mot. He knows I hate being called cute!” Hel waved a hand again. “Nah, I got ya, and I agree! I am not cute! Jove and Mut are cute, that words appropriately applies to them!” Though as Amrita explained herself, the reaper looked a bit taken a back at her sincere comments. The look quickly shifted into a pleased one though, and the reaper beamed. “Ya! I do!” She grinned. “You are not cute either, Amrita…” She trailed off for a moment before she smirked widely. “You are stunning.”
She then laughed. “Oh, it is not…but maybe watching porn for story is.” Hel paused, and listened and well…that wasn’t embarrassing Amrita…that was sad.
Hel’s face fell. “WHAT!?” She cried. “No one stuck around!? WHAT A BUNCH OF ASSHOLES!” The reaper huffed. How dare someone not stick around with Amrita! The ghoul then leapt to her feet, very impassioned by this topic, and pointed at the ghoul.
“AMRITA!” She exclaimed…even though the ghoul was right across from her. “BE MY DATE FOR NEXT SCARENTINES!” Holy s**t Hel, that was like months away. “I AM NOT GONNA GIVE YOU UP OR DESSERT YOU, I PROMISE! YOU DESERVE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME AND A GOOD DATE!”
She also then played her cards.

"Oh, then you should call them sparkling or maybe princess in return. That might get them to stop?" Her head tilted, her eye on the ceiling as she thought of the different ways that one could prevent that word from cropping up again. ...She wasn't cute? Amrita stared at Hel in surprise, blinking. She was cute, though. Everyone called her that. But Hel was saying she wasn't and that was...really nice, surprisingly. "O-oh, um, well, I don't know about stunning, b-but..." She was fidgeting self consciously, but trying hard to hide it. "Um, thank you?"
And then Hel's outburst startled her, but her hands still twisted on her lap. They weren't assholes, not really...they were just...distracted, or busy, or...or hanging out with someone clearly better than she was. But not assholes. She had every intention of saying this too, but Hel was yelling again and that made her jump for real this time, her back straightening.
"U-um! That's really nice of you Hel but I'm...I'm gonna have to decline. You see..." Her pose relaxed a little bit, but she went back to fidgeting, this time playing with her hair. "I'm gonna be running it with the other SC Members and I don't know if I'll have time for it." She explained, looking between Hel and the cards. "I went to Prom with someone from last year's council and I barely saw him, and once it was over I left alone because he had to clean up." That wasn't entirely true, but it was pretty true; she had left alone, but once she changed she had gone back to wait for him. For hours.
She frowned at the cards when she lost, and sighed.
"I didn't have enough stable FEAR to upgrade myself, and it wasn't until I was half way to year three that I could." Now that was embarrassing. "I spent seven years as a nine year old."

“How about you shut the Jack up and take the compliment.” Hel replied with a hum. “I do not say things I do not mean…” She paused. “Usually…I say things I do not mean when I am…hurt.” Yeah…Battle of the Bands anyone? The reaper flopped back down onto her bottom as Amrita spoke, and rocked a bit back and forth, frowning all the while.
But she was going to argue this.
“I do not accept that answer.” Hel replied, her lips twisting. “I think you would make time if you had a date, because you are good like that…I think it is the date who needs to try harder to make time for you. Oh, you did, huh?” Hel leaned forward, still rocking on her bottom, and looked less than impressed. “Then that b*****d did not try hard enough, and I am very disappointed!” Hel had half a mind to ask who the dip s**t was so that she could attach a name to the negative impression she now had, but the offer she made earlier distracted her. “Come oooooon, Amrita~” The reaper purred. “If you do not be my date for Scarentines, then who will?” Hel batted her lashes at the ghoul. Actually, that wasn’t true, and Hel knew it wasn’t true, but telling Amrita she never had sleep overs worked for this so…
Terrible.
The reaper blinked. “Oh…ya?” Her brows furrowed as she thought about it. “Hrm…alright…you did what you had to though, right?” Hel had nothing bad to say about that as she collected the cards, shuffled, and then dealt again.

Amrita went silent, which was about as close to taking the compliment that she was going to get. After all, her feelings on the matter had already been given, so what more was there to say?
"I'd rather not risk it." Amrita decided, though it was nice to hear that Hel had faith in her multi-tasking skills. Still the Reaper insisted on laying it on thick, and all that earned her was a very unimpressed look; lidded eyes and raised brows. "Your boilfriend, maybe?" Nice try, Hel. But Amrita knew you were dating someone.
"Yeah, more or less. I was upset one day and I told Christof, who told Mal and Riley-" Without her permission. "-Who then helped me out. Riley taught me to stabilize my FEAR, Chris found my replacement parts, Mal put them together and...ta-dah~" She held out her arms to indicate her current body. "I look my age for the first time in my life!" It was her shining accomplishment.
It was Hel's turn to spill the beans, again.

Hel rolled backwards and then flopped onto her stomach. She then proceeded to crawl back towards Amrita so that she was close again, and settled on the blanket on her stomach. The reaper pouted as Amrita turned her down (again?). “Rather not risk it…” She repeated. “What…? You being busy…or you being left behind again?” Hel raised her brows in a mock contemplative look, and then snorted loudly when Amrita busted her.
The reaper laughed, and then rolled back and forth like a log on the blanket. “HA! Oh, you caught me, officer!” Hel settled back on her stomach, and looked over her cards. “He better ask me soon, or I am gonna say no.” Hel poked her tongue out as she said this, and then curled her lips up into a ‘C’ shape. Yes, she knew Scarentines was like MONTHS AWAY but she liked being a brat. The ghoul looked back up as Amrita described how her new body came to be, and nodded her head. “Ah, I see! That is…nice…that many pulled together for you.” She murmured, and then looked thoughtful. “So…do you have to do that…every time? Er…yanno…if you want to appear older…?” Hel didn’t know how some undeads worked okay. That’s what happened when you were a reaper.
Hel frowned when she lost again, and wracked her brain for something.
“Oh…! Hyde is my mentor, and when I retrieved items for him for an assignment he gave me…the b*****d took the glove I made him and slapped a beard on my face!” Hel grimaced. “It was not a small one either!” She was a ghoul! Ghouls shouldn’t have beards. That was a hit to her vanity.
