"Hel. So help me I will slap you straight across the face if you do not stop this." He nearly growled, "Do not simply dismiss this as the end just because YOU can't fix something."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 29, 2013 7:33 pm

“Ya. It might as well be. If I can not fix my own problem, than ya.” The ghoul leaned forward a bit. Taunting. “You would also not lay a hand on me in such a matter, so do not bluff.”

Mot slapped Hel straight across the face with a force no one could have ever expected from the gentle giant.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 29, 2013 7:45 pm

Hel’s head was turned by the force of the strike, and now she had a sting on her face to match the sting from her ribs.

Once again, Hel was stunned. Of course she’d been purposely goading the cowboil. Pushing him. Testing him. Poking and prodding to find the limit. So half the words she had bee saying…on purpose to piss him off, and he did it. He slapped her.

Hel laughed, loudly, before she turned her head back to face him, grinning.

Oh my Jack, you did.” She giggled. “I am impressed. Proud, too.” She giggled some more.

"I didn't do it to make you proud!" He yelled with pain in his voice, huffing and burying his face into his stinging hand. "Hel, I am mad! You are giving up on something simply because you don't care to put any effort into learning or understanding something that scares you. And yes, it does scare you!"

The reaper let his hands fall again, his glare narrow and piercing. "You've given up on yourself without even taking considering other options. I will not stand by and hear you speak of becoming dust like you have resolved to it. I care about you, Hel."

"We will solve this even if it means I have to drag you by your hair!"

Hel had the decency to cringe her shoulders as Mot raised his voice, not at all used to that, but still so oh so terribly amused, but also touched, at how worked up he was getting in her defense. She had the bestest of friends standing before her right now. While Mot spoke, Hel sealed up her satchel and attached it to her belt. She then moved and wrapped her arms around Mot’s slim waist and just hugged onto his tightly, resting her cheek against his torso.

“Honestly, I was joking about the whole turning to dust thing, Mot. Though it did cross my mind seriously a few times, I do feel fine right now…well, even more than fine…ah, injuries acquired aside.” As for whether or not it scared her…she wouldn’t confirm…or deny it. But yeah, she was worried. She had finally gotten her life back on track and her mind in a good place…and then something like this had to happen, and what if it came to an end?

That was truly worst case scenario though.

“So no, I have not given up on myself, Mot. That is stupid, and even though I am stupid, I am not that stupid. I did not make a turn around just to slip and fall back into that rut!” She laughed. “I am just preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.” She squeezed the boil.

Well... a hug. He was still mad though!

"Don't joke about such things, then. It upsets me." As if that wasn't obvious, he made sure to let her know clearly now. He gave a sigh and placed a hand on her back, patting it lightly. "Well, I think you've prepared enough. How about instead of waiting for a miracle, we make one for ourselves. I know you have doubts, but there is an answer out there to the problem you have. "

“But if I can not make fun and light of it, then what can I do?” Hel asked with a grin, and released the boil after a moment. She stepped back, and puffed out her cheeks, pouting. “I am not simply waiting for a miracle to happen!” She informed him. “I truly have exhausted what resources are available to me. I ran into Lizzy the other day, and she searched the interweb, but all she came up with there were stupid a** juvenile comments…and she even checked the library. Nothing.”

Well, sort of asking a professor, maybe…Maybe.

"Well, one two or three or more heads might not be enough." He levelled an untrusting gaze downward at the vertically challenged friend, "Also, I don't appreciate that you tried to hide this information from me. I am your friend, Hel."

He gave a sigh and ruffled his raven locks. "Oh well. What's done is done. But if you don't ask a professor about this, then I will."

It was here Hel actually managed a true apologetic and sheepish grin.

“Ya, ya, I know.” She replied. “But ah…I did not want you to worry…after all, if it is something that is wrong with me then…” What could anyone else do about it was what she was getting at. When Mot said he’d go talk to a professor, Hel’s eyes lidded and she smiled. Yeah, she had a very good friend. “Do not feel disappointed, Mot, if a professor can not tell you anything we do not already know.” She smiled widely at him. “You tried. That is more than enough already.”

"I really hate it when you nix an idea simply because you feel you know more than the rest of the world." Mot scolded with a scowl. "Honestly..."

He was SO asking Malcolm about this. ANYBODY. With or without Hel. "It's never enough, Hel. Your problems are my problems. Whether I know of them or not. If I witheld information from you because I did not wish you to worry, you would kick my a** into next week. Do not think I will not do the same, little lady."
PostPosted: Fri Aug 30, 2013 3:11 pm

Hel raised both of her index fingers and pressed them into her cheeks. She canted her head to the side and gave Mot a fox eyed smiled. “I think I should know more than the rest of the world when it comes to me!” She dropped the ‘cute’ act and grinned. “Stop all that scowling, Motty, or you are going to get wrinkles and lines.”

Well, Mot was right, and even though there was that whole rule of ‘treat others how you want to be treated’ Hel was still having a hard time applying the same expectations she had of others to herself. Oh well. Maybe she’d learn…maybe she wouldn’t. She almost wanted to goad Mot into kicking her a**…almost. But the slap was good enough…as was his word. Hel laughed, loudly.

“Ahh, if only I had not been cursed!” She exclaimed with a wistful sigh. “Then you could not call me little lady! I would be much taller than you, yanno! I would probably even be in the seven foot range!”

OH WELL.

Actually, after saying that, a thought struck Hel, and the ghoul zoned out for a moment. “…Hey.” She finally spoke back up. “Yanno, that reminds me…Mother, aunts and uncles, when talking about the Brynhildr family ancestors…way back when, the Brynhildr family used to have familiars…and over time the familiars shifted into weapons as times grew more turbulent…” Hel’s brows furrowed. “I have no idea how…I suppose that kind of information is so far gone it is lost.”

Mot gave a small sigh at her cute act, trying not to interpret it as a sign of disrespect of his words. It was just Hel, after all. He didn't seem too worried about wrinkles and lines, though. They were a history book of the soul! Or something...

"Valkyries are indeed very large.." Mot agreed, wincing at the memory of Hel's dad nearly eating him. He shuddered. It had been a very trying weekend.

"Hm. What sort of familiars? Maybe if you look into your heritage, you'll find more answers. Find the source of your very being in it's simplest form. It could be useful down the road."
PostPosted: Fri Aug 30, 2013 3:27 pm

“Ravens, or so I am told.” Hel replied. “Yanno…ones like the size of hawks, ride around on one’s shoulders or arm…” Here, Hel shrugged. “I am, once again, not confident that trying to dig up information on that would help, Mot…after all, back then they dealt with familiars…and I do not think familiars just…break and splinter to turn into weapons!”

Hel scratched her cheek, and looked off to the side.

“Besides…I want nothing to do with my family anymore…so speaking to any of them is out of the question.”

Mot facepalmed.

"No wonder you aren't getting answers. You're road blocking yourself to clues. Hel, these answers you seek won't come in one perfect package. It comes from gathering a lot of little things that don't seem to make sense until it all becomes whole." Mot rubbed his face, slowly pulling it down until...

"You don't speak with them anymore?"
