The olive eyes glittered as Jehart spoke, seeing the trouble in his face, hearing the worry in his words. "Well maybe you're special. Y'know back in the olden days in order to gain good crops the town would sacrifice a virgin. Maybe the gods decided you're that virgin, huh?" he chuckled, finishing his drink. "Try not to question the gods too hard or they'll come down at ya, right? Anyways, you do have a nice house. When was it built? Seems kinda old fashioned."

Jehart flushed. He was a virgin, that was true, but that only caused more worry. Didn't the virgin always die? They never received the boons. Then the topic suddenly turned to the house. "It was built when the settlers started living over here. Ma's real proud of it and we have people come make sure it's still in good shape and all. I figure it's home." He didn't mind how old it was. What mattered was that he grew up here and called it home. He smiled some. "If you like, I can help look for your folks. Do they have the same last name?" Marryings in and out could change the names, after all.

Settlers? Tellus frowned a bit at the walls. he'd have to go do some research at the library, then. "Folks? Ah, well, that's the thing. They just sent me a letter to come back, but no return address. Of course they always liked making things difficult for me, I am the youngest and I am the problem child." he tapped his lower lip, "Bestia. My last name is Bestia. It's nice of you to help, Jehart. I think I shall consider you my first friend here, being so friendly and helpful. Not many people like that nowadays."

Jehart nodded. "I'll ask around. If you've got family here, someone's bound to know 'em." The talk of him being helpful made him flush again. He was always a bit shy about compliments. "Always glad to help." He told him, washing out his cup before drying it and putting it up in the cabinet.

"Yea, someone. I may do research on my own. Saw a library towards the main part of town. You guys do farmer's markets? I bet people are always looking around your stand. Got any crop I can see? Like from last year or the year before. It'd be awesome to see this supposed huge crop." Tellus looked at the man expectantly, incredibly curious on the topic of his farm and crop.

Jehart thought it was a little strange that he was so interested in their unusual high crop yield, but he supposed it made sense since he was a city boy that was new to farming and heard rumors of him. He shrugged off his suspicion that his interest was a bit too earnest. "We have some in the silo. Do you want to go look now, or tomorrow?" He asked. "It can be a pretty far walk for folks that aren't used to it."

'I'm sure I can handle the walk. Plus I've got a big strong man like you to carry me if I get tired, right?" he teased, "I'd love to see your crops right now, Jehart. Will you show me?"

Jehart's tanned skin, already a bit dark from his mixed heritage, managed to become tinged pink at his words, nodding some. "Right. Let's head on out, then." He told him, trying to mask his bashful nature. He wasn't used to flirting, spending enough time out farming in the baking sun acted as a fantastic deterrent for women to come try to sweet talk him. It was rare for someone to actually be interested in what he did and act flirty. He started the trek to the adjacent side of the farm. It was a good mile and a half to get there, but he enjoyed the exercise. Like when he was farming, it helped him relax and clear his head. "So why are you so interested in our crops, anyways? Not many people come here just to take a look at them." He commented, wanting to ask Tellus the questions now. He figured he had a right to be curious about this strange male that showed up out of nowhere.

"Hooray!" Tellus followed close behind the farmer before moving to walk beside him. How cute, he may have been taller and stronger, but the red-head knew he himself could overpower him. How cute. How, simply, adorable. Green-hazel eyes looked ahead for the silo. "Ah, well, it's a little family thing. We look for the people with the biggest crops then, well even though we're not farmers we learn their secrets, see what they do to make them grow so large. Of course I think the gods blessed you simply because you're handsome. You don't see many young farmers nowadays, especially looking as you do." he winked, chuckling again.

Tellus's explanation made a bit of sense, actually. A curiosity of what techniques and such yielded better crops. The bit about being blessed for his looks made him blush from the tips of his ears to his neck. "I'm not all that special. Never been one the ladies fawn over." Because he avoided them like the plague and was a workaholic. "I'm sure there are other young farmers that catch their eye." Or city people because they all had big dreams of going to Memphis and being big singers or businesswomen.

"That's because you're so shy. I bet you hide from them. Force yourself to work harder and faster so you're panting and sweating and unable to talk." He smirked, eyes glittering with the smallest hint of lust, "Luckily for you that's how I like my men. But I haven't seen many other young farmers. I guess at our age they've gone off to get a college education or to make dreams come true in the city, huh?" Tellus thought on this.

Maybe that was why Jehart was picked to have such a bountiful crop. All the other candidated up and left.

Jehart looked away sheepishly when Tellus his the nail on the head about his behavior. He fought back the urge to squeak at the comment about his preference. Burly farmers did not squeak. "I guess that would make for slim pickin's when it comes to young farmers, huh? Usually older folks move here. My pa always goes 'say what you will about the south, but nobody retires and moves up north.'" He chuckled. "I dunno, maybe sometime in winter I'll visit a city and see what the fuss is all about."

"Yea it does. People retire in the country, maybe start a farm or live a quiet life. The city is noisy. Don't go to the city during winter. Slush and bright lights. Sure you get the Christmas decorations but maybe if it's the right part of town. I like the country better for winter. More serene." He continued walking happily, looking around before grinning. "Ah! Do you own anything from the city, Jehart?"

Jehart pondered that. Did he want to go when it was like that? Maybe sometime else... But when else would he have time to? He took his job seriously, after all. The next question made him nod a little. "One friend of mine went to go to college there. He brought back a playstation he found at a 'pawn shop' and gave it to me. He brought some games for it and everything. I don't play it much, but maybe we can play next time you come over." He smiled some.

It wasn't too much longer before they reached the silo, and he led him inside. The crops had all been stored away for when winter came, and they'd been preserved well. "Here we are." The ears of corn were longer than his forearm, and the cabbages were the sizes of the pumpkins that people made jack-o-lanterns with. It was obvious that it wasn't normal, and it was perfectly reasonable for jehart to be worried about it. This wasn't just dumb luck or a new farming technique. No farming technique he knew could make crops that big, but just to prove his point, he walked to another section of the silo. "This is where my pa's crops are stored." They were lovely and hearty crops, but the heads of cabbage were only the size of someone's head, and the corn was about normal size, maybe a tiny bit bigger as actual evidence of their farming technique. It was nothing like the crops jehart had harvested.

"Oh? That's pretty cool. I still don't have one of those. I'd definitely love to play with you." A double entendre. He wondered if Jehart would notice. "Pawn shops always have good things. Does it work properly? Every once in a while you get something bad." Tellus smiled up at the other before looking at the large silo. He could practically smell the crop inside and was more than eager to go in, eyeing the piles and the shelves of food, excited to see what the gods bestowed upon the humble farmer.

And what he saw was surprising. Carrots as thick as his wrist, tomatoes as big as his head. God Tellus knew what this meant, and for the crop to be this size, well his pants were getting a little tight. His fingers ran along a cabbage before turning his head to look at the father's crops. Decent, adequate, the father had been receiving some luck as well. "How very interesting. And what do you two do to the fields while you're letting the crop grow?"
