This was . . . a really super weird moment, because if memory served, they had been rather cuddly . . . or had something distorted his mind after he'd sacrificed his heart? Mrr. Strange . . .
"Oh! Um, Mort's my name," he answered as he swung his swords and nicked the little b*****d again. "Nice t'meet you all! But it's funny, I'm also looking for someone," he added to the shorter girl in greens. "Lots of curly hair, um . . . red I think, it was red in my memories. Bouncy and short. It's, ah, Belladonna if you've seen her?" A funny name, but one that fell easily on his tongue.
Just gotta keep the good mojo going. Kettil's behavior and Freya's subsequent reactions weren't going to keep him down!
"Another funny thing is, I know you two." Mort glanced between the squabbling pair, trying to keep on smiling as if it was amusing and not saddening to watch. "Though I'm guessing you don't remember me."

"All right, now hold on a second-" She dropped her guns to the floor and stormed forward.
"I never said I thought you kissed everyone. Don't you put words in my mouth. Don't you do it. I don't know what I said that pissed you off so bad, but - but that wasn't it."
Why did she even care so much if he was pissed off at her? She couldn't wrap her mind around it. She just wanted that feeling of safety back. The one she had when..
Well, that was out the window, she supposed.

Ying was a little scared of the lover's quarrel going on around her. Had she interrupted something?
"U-Um ... if w-we could m-maybe focus or ..." The rest was lost in quiet mumbling to herself, and then complete silence. Ying had no spine to speak of, so she was no use in this argument.
It did, however, improve her aim. For whatever reason.
She decided to turn her attention to the other two. "Um! Hello mister. I d-don't think we've met?"
In the moments it took her to create a greeting, the box hopped up and chomped on her head. Her body slumped to the ground in an awkward, unfitting sort of way.
Luckily the goddesses were watching, and she'd regenerated in a matter of moments. "Oh my ...."

For now his weapon was just in standby as she approached him. He just stared at her now and leaned toward her, "I'm sorry, Princess but it seems I misunderstood. Seeing as you thought our time together means nothing at all to you other than some fun."
"I am sorry that it meant something to me." He said in a heated tone.
"I didn't expect you to fawn all over me or tell me that you were in love with me but ... Hell if I didn't expect at least a little warmth or kindness from you, but it seems ...I wasn't worth that much to you." He said simply as he quietly shifted to move around her. "If you'll pardon me a moment, Miss. This isn't the time for an argument."
There was a falter in his words but he did give Mort a smile, a smile he wouldn't give Freya right now, "That's alright, we'll just get to know each other again until everything is right again."

The heat of battle unleashed something within her that looked a little too happy to be fighting with Kettil. She grinned, teeth bared in a show of dominance, but with each word he calmly spoke, she felt a little deflated, a little broken down. Because he just kept trying to insist that their little time together meant something to him, and not to her. Because yeah, sure buddy. That's really how life works. The guy is more invested in romance than the girl. She believed that like she believed that the sky was purple and babies came out of pumpkins. She glared at him a while longer, her teeth grinding, but she couldn't respond. And the other people around her were starting to feel uncomfortable and ask them to stop. But he'd gotten the last word, and that drove her insane. She stomped back over to her guns, picked them up, and tried to shoot - but nothing came out. She tried, and tried, but in the end, out of sheer frustration she just threw them at the monster. And the monster fought back. Kettil wasn't sure why he even cared at this juncture as he moved closer to Freya even as she moved away from him, he even positioned himself to get in the way of the monster just in case.
What happened instead, after the beast hit Freya, he hit it.
He wasn't even sure why she thought he didn't care for her, when he did care a lot. Why were they even having this fight?

Mort was utterly distracted by the domestic dispute. "U-Uh, yeah. Sure thing. I'll just, um . . . let you guys have some space?" That seemed best after watching Freya growl and throw things.
He passed a glance to the other two with a sort of "halp" look.

It seemed he didn't stop there right then as he just hit the monster again, and this time even harder, "IS IT THAT INSANE THAT I CARE ABOUT SOMEONE?!"
He was asking in general now, out of frustration that needed to be vented out.

Ying inched away from the lovers, moving more towards Mort than she did Shiloh. Though she didn't know the man personally, she recognized the humanish figure. He was one of those ones that she'd seen in the battle ... one of the ones she'd protected Jing from.
Jing! Ying quickly piled together her little loot fragments, sweeping them into her hand. "Um, thank you all v-very much! You were all very brave ... I am sorry I wasn't of more use."

She just watched, from her place on the floor where the monster had bitchsmacked her too, and she rubbed her sore face. He sounded so sincere. So angry at her for not believing in him. But she'd believed in someone else, once. She wilted, before standing up and looting the corpse. She would have liked to believe he was telling the truth, but she had so little to go by. And so much to go against. She patted his shoulder, just once, and then turned to leave. "For some of us, it's impossible."

"Why's it gotta be impossible? Nothing is impossible," he snapped back at her, irritable and still hurt. Even as she patted his shoulder, he was tense. He didn't even want to believe she'd touched him.
The fact that she touched him made it feel like she was burning him, hot under the skin, against the muscles.
It was a burning he didn't really feel prepared to take. He picked up his loot and just left. x 2

Mort was unsure whether to stay or go. He surreptitiously as he could leaned in to get his stuff from the fallen monster, eyes watching the pair while he distractedly waved bye to the others leaving. Guess there was no huddle after all . . .
