He would hold her little hand in a way that made it evident that he was used to such things. At least he wasn't tall enough that it was awkward to walk like that.

"Well, where I came from..." How to explain this ? "Well, there was a lot of obstacles in the way. You had to learn to jump or step over them."

Only those obstacles tended to be husks of cars, abandoned buildings and the like.

Kyrie swung their joined hands gently as they walked and she processed his reply.
"That sounds exhausting," the godling replied. "You would have been much better off with wings." She said this while extending her free hand out to show off her feathers.

"Nuhava, do you have wings?" she asked seamlessly as if she were walking right beside them. "My mommy and daddy have huuuuuge wings."

"It is when you start, and you get hurt a lot too. But you get the hang of it and it doesn't get too bad."

That or you collapsed somewhere because you couldn't force yourself to move. Happened a lot too. "We don't get wings, though. Not my race. Our world changed a lot, when I was about as big as you are. We adapted like we could."

"Maybe I do." She would answer the curious child. "Maybe I do not. I do not remember, you see. I will look however I will and that is that. Many gods seems to have them, do they not ?" Of course. Wings were very useful.

You'll have to forgive me in the fact that I really hope you don't. Popping wings couldn't be pleasant at all !

Though he couldn't deny that flying had it's appeal. Which child had never dreamed of flying, after all.

"Right here, Kyrie." There was the stand, and there were many bird houses on display, along with assorted wooden items - silverware, toys, the like. "Which one do you like best ?"

Kyrie listened to both replies, though she was intrigued by Nuhava's. It seemed so strange to not remember what you looked like, though she knew that Auntie Val did not remember everything from before her fading.

"Yes. The only two that I know of that don't have any are my brother and cousin Kios," Kyrie replied with a matter of fact shrug. Pausing when they finally arrived at the stand he had promised to take her to, she looked at it with wide eyes. There were so many things! His question prompted her to very carefully study each item with great care. She was about to say that nothing had caught her fancy when she saw it tucked away at the back.

"That is perfect!" she declared and pointed to the ornate metal basket. "I can fill it up with nest things and hang it up safely," she nodded and looked up to Graff for confirmation.

"Well, wings are very useful to have." Obviously. Though she suspected that those who did not either had no use for them, or compensated in another way.

Which doesn't mean im too interested in popping them.

A moment of discomfort for eons of usability. It seemed worth it to her. But, well. It was as she said - what needed to happen would happen.

Her choice would surprise him. He had expected Kyrie to go for an actual bird house, but he figured the little goddess would know better than he did in this case. The barter was easy and quick enough, a small gold coin traded away and soon he would hand her the basket. "So, food then ? I don't think there's any bugs or anything like that, but we can probably get seeds pretty easily."

Kyrie watched with wide eyes yet again as he quickly made the barter and paid. She had not expected that! She had been very sure to bring a few of her shiny things to pay for anything she might find. Reaching up, she took the basket in both hands and looked up at him with utter adoration. Of course, she had never come across anyone that was rude or mean before, but no one but her parents had ever bought anything for her. Fluffing her feathers happily, she tucked her new treasure under one arm and her free hand immediately found its way into Graff's once more.

"They need to be as fresh as possible," she declared with the authority of a child. "I like seeds," she continued with a smile as she looked up at him, the adoration still present in her blue eyes. "They taste good. What is your favorite seed?"

Kyrie's adoring gaze was not entirely lost on him, and he smiled, ruffling her headfeathers a bit. She behaved a lot like Penney did at her age. "We'll make sure to inspect them before we buy them, then. Make sure they pass your standard."

Though really, he wouldn't want to be eating nasty old seeds either, even if he was a bird. Especially now that he had a choice not no !

"I bet you crack them easy with that beak, hn ? Nuts too." He laughed a bit. That sounded handy. "I like sunflower seeds."

Kyrie gave her chortling laugh and opened her beak to snap it shut to demonstrate just how easily that would be for her. Her beak really did come in handy sometimes.
"I can," she added for good measure. "It's fun to crunch things with it. Though I've accidentally bit my brother and sister, so it can get in the way sometimes. I like sunflower seeds too! They're my favorite. Maybe Maggie will like them too. I'll probably have to chew them up for her at first though," she mused as she eyed the other stalls as they walked.

"Are you happy to be a host Graff?" she asked, dropping the rather heavy question innocently enough. Alva was the only other host she knew, she seemed content enough with her fate. She wondered if it were the same for all of them.

"Yeesh... That'd probably hurt." It hurt enough being bitten, or accidentally biting the inside of his mouth, so being pinched by a break probably wasn't fun. "You have a brother and sister, then ? What are they like ?" Little birds like her ? "You might have to shell them first at least. Especially if she's a baby bird." Kyrie had said that much, had she not ?

The goddess' next question was more complicated than it seemed like at the first glance. "Well... Im better off here than I was on my home world. Things were pretty bad when I ended up here... I have friends here that I would probably have never met otherwise. I have a family I would never have had. So im happy for that. I wish I could have all that for longer, but... In a way I'll still have all that when Nuhava's there. I'll just be different."

Would he still be able to feel it, then ? This was something he often wondered about. Something his mortal mind could not truly comprehend. Would there be some part of him there, still aware of what he had once been ? Or would he simply be her, aware of everything ? No one had truly been able to make him understand.

His question about her brother and sister fell to the side as she waited for his answer. When it came, a thoughtful expression fell over her face as her little mind considered what he had said carefully and sorted through it. His words seemed happy enough, but there was something more there. He seemed sad, she realized. She regarded him a moment longer, then moved to lean her head against his arm. She didn't want him to be sad.
"I wish you could too," she said softly. After a small pause, she breathed in deeply and lifted her head to look up at him.

"I do have a brother and a sister. My brother is Isidore and he's Funeral. Caelia is my sister and she is Augury. They are a lot of fun. Isi is quiet and very clever. Cae is so much fun to play with and she loves birds as much as me!" she smiled. "Maybe you will get to meet them. Oh! Maybe you could help us? We need to throw a funeral party."

"It's alright. I mean, I choose this. I knew what I was getting into." But things had been different back then. He had not been quite the same, either.

Still, it was his fate and he accepted it, even if he did not truly understand it.

Funeral and Augury ? ....What was Augury ? And Funerals... What where her parents, he wondered ? "That's really nice. I don't have any siblings." Probably never would have, even if things had not gone to hell. His parents had seemed content with only one child.

"A funeral party ?" Funerals were quite somber affairs, from what he knew of them. He had only attended to one in his life - his grandfather. He had been too young to really understand what was going on.

Kyrie nodded in perfect seriousness.
"We're calling all the lost spirits to St. Kore, the old church. We're doing it for our daddy. He's been very busy and very sad. He's afraid we won't love him anymore. But that's not true!! We could never not love him! So to prove it, we're going to have a funeral to help the spirits move on to the Underworld so he doesn't have to do it," she declared with pride. "I've already sent out the crows to invite the spirits. We need people to mourn them. Maybe you could do it? Or you Nuhava?" she asked.

Calling spirits for their daddy ?

Wait.

....Wait.

Nuhava realized it first, and it was probably a good thing that Kyrie could not hear the laugh that followed. Interesting.

"...Ankou's your dad ?" He couldn't help but stare a little. The Spirit Guide had given no sign that he had children... But then, he didn't really give sign of much of anything beyond being able to punch worlds in the face with that spear he carried everywhere, as far as Graff could tell. "Hmm, maybe I can. Im going somewhere soon, though. If im around, ill come help ?"
PostPosted: Tue Aug 20, 2013 8:46 pm

Kyrie looked up at him and nodded happily. She was very proud of the fact that she was one of Spirit Guide and Number's children. In her opinion, there were no better parents in the whole of everything.
"Yeah. Ankou's my daddy and Cosine is my mommy," she smiled proudly. But then his mention of going away struck her as sad. They had just met. She didn't want him to go away. "I hope you can come Graffy. We need all the help we can get to help send them on." She paused as she suddenly realized something. "Oh!!! You can't tell anyone what we're doing. It's a secret. We don't want to worry mommy and daddy about what we're doing." Again she paused and she shifted her treasure under her arm a little. "You won't be gone when you come back will you?" she asked softly.

Cosine ? Now that was someone he didn't know, though, from the name... Could that be the numbers Alva mentioned ? This would make sense, especially since she would be living with them ?

It was something to ponder later. For now, he would keep walking - their destination drew near.

"I won't tell anyone." The danger of what they were attempting did not truly occur to him, so he saw no reason to intervene there.

As for her last question... "I don't know." He would admit. Nuhava seemed to be getting stronger and stronger every passing day, though he did not honestly feel pushed aside or anything of the sort. They seemed to have an odd, unspoken understanding that he would have an hard time explaining if asked. "Though as far as I know even when Nuhava takes over I won't be truly gone. We'll be together still, I'll just speak though her."

He liked that idea. That he would find a way to speak and smile at her even though the goddess, no matter what truly happened. It was oddly comforting.
