"That's...sad." Medea lowered her gaze. Did they know about their state? Probably not. Who would volunteer to be a puppet? Her eyes brightened with the mention of dinner. Time with her new friend? A chance to learn the secrets of the universe? That would be great! "I would love to buy you dinner!"
She couldn't shake that Zee seemed miserable in a quiet-no-I'm-not-no-way-way. Why? What could bog her down as she scrolled through her database? She met so many people, and she collected so much information...knowledge and companionship would keep most people happy for their entire lives, but Zee seemed somewhat grim...
What could possibly be going through her mind?
"Zee!" Medea leaned forward. "I wanna protect you, okay? We talk more over dinner, but if you need anything, let me know. I wanna help you out!"

"Well their maker is very sad,"Zia said with a flippant, one shouldered shrug like it was insignificant and small in comparison.
Her eyes glanced up from the screen in a strange, side eyed stare at the offer to help and protect her. "Uh... thanks..." The corners of her mouth even twitched up in a small smile in a conscious effort not to make that sound so hollow.
She would chalk it up to enthusiastic naivete.
"Come on, let's go find dinner," She chirped, swinging her legs up and back down as she hopped off the bench and shoved her tablet back in her bag as she walked. Zia could move fast when food was in the immediate future.

"Okayyy~" Medea stumbled after her. "Zee, would you ever date someone on the opposing faction, though? Realy?" She looked up to Zee like a big sister of magical duties. They even looked similar, and Zee seemed most knowledgeable."Will I ever know as much as you?"
The answer seemed fairly obvious, but still! It seemed wise to know. Where did Zee come from? What did she want?
So many questions to ask, and she seemed to know everything.
"What would you like to eat?"

"I don't think I'd date someone in any faction," Zia said with a bit of a grimace. She didn't talk about the war with Pascal. When one of them didn't come home or came home injured there was obvious worry, but no interrogations, really. She didn't question his phobia of mirrors, and he didn't question her phobias either.
"I don't talk about this stuff with my better half. If he's involved, I don't want to know, and vice versa. And besides," She shrugged one shoulder as she skipped along. "All factions are opposing factions to me."
She looked around and then at the time, and chirped in a weird sort of glee. "Oh, I know, this way. You won't even have to power down if you don't want to share your identity with me," She announced as she changed direction. After all, at least one member of the waitstaff was a knight, and the owner was too. They could talk freely about whatever Medea wanted to hear and not draw any more suspicion than normal.
"I know everything, and it's kind of a pain in the butt, so I hope not," She snorted. "Getting this way kind of ruined my life. I'm waiting to see if it was worth it, though."

"But Zee!" Medea skipped alongside her. She huffed. Her little legs couldn't keep up! Even in powered form, it seemed."Zee! If everyone's an opposing faction, then how are we doing this?" She chuckled. "Wouldn't you attack me? Would you prefer we never power up again?"
She nodded. at the mention of a restaurant where she could remain powered. That would be...nice. Maybe it was a safe haven for powered folk? How swanky!
"I don't think life would be ruined!" She laughed. "How wonderful life is~" She sung. "Now you're in the wooooorld!"
Her eyes sparkled.
"And does Zee have a boyfriennnnd?"

"Aw, baby, I wouldn't attack you even if I could," Zia cooed and even stopped to fluff up her hair in her typical invasive Zia way of nonstop hair and face touching.
"But I am not a senshi, and have nothing to do with your moon kingdom or your Chaos infection."
She kept walking rolling her eyes and laughing at Medea's singing. She had no idea how she was going to get through an info dump with this girl, or if it was even worth it.
Boyfriends were a much nicer topic as a opposed to the best way to streamline four years of death and destruction over one basket of fries. "Yeeees, I do. I live with him and he's a grumpy little guy and he puts up with all of my monster hunting shenanigans. Does Medea have someone to put up with her shenanigans?"
The diner at 17 Waverley St seemed nice enough, and with the exception of one patron at the counter for coffee, also appeared to be absolutely deserted. Zia walked in like she owned the place and scoped out one of the booths lining the wide windows. "The server on call should notice us soon," She said, pulling out her tablet screen and a few files. "What did you want to know more about?"

"Yay!" Ah, physical affection. Good reliable hair-fluff. She was loved! Cherished! Admired! Yes. Medea snickered. "Chaos is baaad, they say, but I don't know! They seem alright to me. Maybe there are just a few bad ones and the rest are good? Or maybe it's luck that they treat me so kindly?"
She leaned against the wall once entered the restaurant. What a walk!
"How could they not?" She laughed. "A senshi and a civilian walk into a bar..." She shook her head. "But no...I mean. I have a Captain, right? But there's also this corrupt, and he makes me..." She blushed and watched her feet. "Really happy I guess? I don't know. He didn't want to fight, and he seemed like he didn't want to fight me ever, but..."
That magic.
He was a dangerous one. Making her skin peel off like that...
She shrugged. A smile.
"I want to know more about you! And who I am! And what this uniform means." She leaned forward to catch her eye. "What am I supposed to fight for exactly? And is it even worth the battle?"

"Hm..." Zia drummed her fingers on the table with one hand and rested her chin in the other was she stared at Medea. And stared and stared while the bubbly senshi moved and leaned and exclaimed all of her things.
"Chaos is bad," She started with a nod. "But people aren't born into Chaos, it's something they become afflicted by, and sometimes it can take awhile before it affects them in ways they realize. Colds are bad, but not everyone who suffers from a cold is bad. These things are often unrelated. See?"
Yes that was a good analogy. Except, wait, "Oh, I guess if colds also slow warped your mind and got you to do evil things in exchange for being more powerful. Um. Nevermind."
She shrugged a little. "I was corrupted once, a long time ago. Someone I loved fell to Chaos and I swore to follow her anywhere. She wanted power and security was all. We weren't bad people, and we didn't set out to do bad things. But in the end, we were so far gone I had to die before I could be saved. And that was somewhat unpleasant."
She seemed to drift off into less than pleasant thoughts as her lips pursed. "Painite is also a good example. She was always a fighter, but we were better friends when she was a captain. Time goes on, their heart rots. I'm sure you've noticed the holes," She stopped to frame the space where they were on her own chest, which didn't have any holes, but the crescent moon branding Ares burned into her once upon a time. "In corrupt senshi. That is where their stars have rotted and become tainted. It's very, very bad."

"You died?" Shock! Horror! How could Zia have died. She sat in her purple glory. She scrolled her tablet. She took her to nom! "How did you die? Was it cold and lonely like the grungy teenage rock bands suggest?" She leaned against the wall. It was a nice wall. A comfy wall. "Or was it soft and warm and fluffy? Did you have a nice time being dead?"
Meal-talk didn't always mean cutting the steak and asking "How are you?" It could reach death-talks, wondering about the future or the past or even the cycle of life.
"Rotting doesn't sound amazing because then your body is sickly and sad and kind of gross." She nodded. "Like the lungs of smokers or something. You're right. That is bad..." Adonis, did he know? "But then, what about the White Moon Court? Are we really so good ourselves? It just seems so confusing with all these sides..."

"I don't really remember. It's complicated," Zia said with a long, drawn out sigh. And that was true. If she was being honest, she barely remembered being corrupted. It was disjointed and hazy images and phrases that were the most vivid in Luxor's circus, but ultimately Zirconia's brain space was a tangle and that was the worst knot of them all.
"The White Court is your natural state of being. It's whatever you want it to be," She shrugged. "I think people just want a purpose so they go for the mirror of what they're fighting and try to give it a label. In reality, outside of this war, there is only the leash of corruption, and life without it."
She pulled a napkin out of a container and started to twist the corners to ease her anxious tendencies. "Chaos can be kind of nice, you know? You get a leader, and a goal, and you don't really have to think so much. You also get a lot more power physically. You just have to pay prices for it, in the end. The White Court doesn't have a leader. It's just who you were born to be and you can grow up to be whoever you want. Good or evil."
"Hey ladies, sorry for the wait," The ragged and lonely late night server blew in, skidding to a stop on his sneakers and grabbing his notebook before he noticed who he was serving. Instantly, Noah's face dropped into a half lidded and unamused scowl. "Zee, what the ******** are you doing?" He pointed his pen at Medea, "I swear to ******** god, if she attracts another youma-- Oh, hi, Medea-- I'm going to destroy you."

"Hai?" Medea smiled. BOYBOYBOYBOYBOY. Concerns about the war, her purpose, the galaxy. Gone. Age?! Who cared about age?! This was a man. A friendly man. Who knew her somehow...? "Have we...?" She looked to Zee for a cue. She looked to the man. She looked to Zee. Nothing. She looked to the man. "It's a shame I don't remember you! I should be able to place such attractive features anywhere!" She laughed.
"Zee," she added, in a low voice, but loud enough for him to hear. "Why is he being so mean to you? And another youma? Do they come here often?"
She leaned back and pulled the napkin into her lap. She smiled at the gentleman.
"Destroy's a really harsh word."

Zia had no cues. Maybe if Alfheim shared the people he occasionally met when he patrolled on his own there, she might've had some. But as far as why he knew who the hell Medea was, she was clueless.
"Oh, I was powered when we met. It's me, Alfheim." And upon further inspection maybe one would notice the Celtic knots on his armor matched the symbol in the stone pendent Zia wore hanging just a smidge above the crescent scar in her chest.
"He's my brother, he's mean to me sometimes. Hey, hey," Zia waved her arms wildly in an effort to get his attention. "Go get me a burger and stop being a jerk."
"Half brother. And they come here all the time," Noah groaned, and then tapped his notebook with his pen. "What are you eating?"

"Oh." She remembered him! Kind of! He didn't look at all like he did earlier. She laughed and shrugged. She would believe him for now. He totally ignored her move. Crap. She would have to be more obvious. "Ummmm. I think I'll have a slice of the cutie pie?" She laughed to hide her cringe. Oh that was bad. So very bad. She coughed. Then quietly: "I'll just have a cheeseburger with onions and fries please thanks."
She sunk into her seat.
"Half brother?" she asked Zee, crossing her arms. "What's the other half? Beauty incarnate?"
Oh so bad. So very, very awful.

Noah looked completely dumbfounded. There was a massive age gap between him and Zia, which was worsened by the fact that guardian cats didn't age. So the fact that her much younger friend was making a pass at him was a little bit weird.
But before he could get over his shock and say something-- he only got about as far as opening his mouth-- Zia interrupted with a loud cackle.
And she laughed. And laughed. And laaaaughed until her head was on the the table. Noah stared at her, and then at Medea, and then pointed his pen over his shoulder to the kitchen door. "I'll uh.. I'll just... go work on that."
"BRING ME THE USUAL, CUTEI-PIE!" Zia wailed after him, reaching out one hand dramatically as he picked up his pace and ran, dreading all the way that he would be back shortly with their food.
"Oh god," Zia threw her head back and gasped for air after being incapacitated by laughter. "Oh god, what were we talking about? FffffffI can't," She inhaled with a loud gasp, "I can't breathe."

OMIGODOMIGODOMIGODOMIGOD Medea sunk into her seat and sprawled across the table. SOOOO AWKWARD. And Zia laughed, and laughed, and Noah went away! Darn it! "UGHHH ZEE." She buried her face into her arm. "ZEE THAT WAS SO BAD." She peeked at her friend. "Do you think he liked it?" She ducked again. "NOOO. I CAN NEVER COME HERE AGAIN."
She sat up with a groan.
"Oh my God. He hates me forever." She stared at the ceiling. "He hates me forever, and you're laughing because he hates me forever. WHY YOU DO THISSSS?"
Her stomach rumbled. She felt hungry. When would he return with their food? Did she want him to return? Maybe she ruined his life and he would never cook again. Oh, that would be terrible.
"Do people hit on him..often?" Blushing, she watched the table. She couldn't meet Zee's gaze just yet.
