Ironshare still kept the Other behind him. Backing off hadn't worked. He plunged the bike in once more, whole body weakening, unraveling...

Ironshare literally pulled himself together, from where he had slumped to the ground. He wasn't sure with what. There was a distant, imperial fury and strength.
Indigence. Indigence at being beaten down by this scattered thing, these errors...

Reap laid a hand on the other's shoulder, careful to keep out of claw range. He wasn't normally friendly, but to see the other guy shaking himself almost apart while he looked on was wrenchingly difficult to bear. He was helpless to aid him but at the same time was willing to give every last bit of his strength to save his new friend, a kindness in this desolate landscape.
"If you want me to fight it again, say the word man. Tell me. It was nice to meet you, in case..you know."

"I've got it," he said, himself again, and grasping the remains of new strength to drive the bike into the small part between the screen and body.
"He'll back off. He'll go away."

Ironshare felt himself slipping away again, the motions desperate.
"You too," he said, delayed, "it was...good. Talking. You wouldn't be over here, if it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have wandered. You would have gathered up all that light- been-"
It had been good being. Why was he falling apart now? What had it been for?
"Goddess," he called, hoarse.

"We don't need the goddess." Reap said. "We have each other."
He wouldn't let his friend fall apart here, there was something scary and final about it, he couldn't place why. It wasn't easy to place his hands in the fate of the goddess, wether she had blessed them or not.
"I'm glad I came with you."
It was all or nothing, every last bit of strength he had. He swung a fist right at the blue and flickery monitor. And satisfyingly, it exploded in a shower of sparks.
"People never try turning the ******** thing off."
He wasn't sure why he said it.

Ironshare looked at Reap in surprise, and his chest was moving in and out (why?) raggedly. He held the bike. He still felt on the edge, but he didn't feel like he was winding down and coming apart anymore.
It had finally stopped.
It came apart, and it stopped.
"You got it," he said finally, "We got it." His mouth tightened, making a wide moon, and he wasn't sure why, but he just felt so full up of good feelings, it made all of him tight. He was still there. He was still being.
Something glittered in the remains. One of the shards they were supposed to be picking up? No. Something else. He bent to examine the pieces.
"It's not a heart," he said, holding it aloft.

"We." Reap reaffirmed, he'd never have done it alone, his friend was strong and clever. He couldn't help but mirror the smile, softening his normal fixed manic grin enough that even his glowing yellow eyes crecented.
"And you don't need another heart anyway, yours is good enough." He was positively pleased and he wasn't sure why, leaning down to sift through the wrecked machine, pulling two glimmering red shards free from it and inspecting them curiously.
"They are ******** pretty."
