The total I ended up getting was Arcana +20.

Well with a 20 on a Arcana check you know that the wizard is selling some powerful potions and magical items. You know you can't buy those things, let alone use them as their powers are a bit. The 20 check also lets you know that what the wizard is making is his pot is some sort of potion, but you are too small to see what's in the pot with out some of help of some sort.
You do see some potions of healing, heroism, and invisibility. Remember though these potions cost 50-100 gp each and you already have a potion of healing on you.

"Well, I don't have any of that. Will ale do? Trust me it's not any of that watered down crap. As for jobs, there is a board for jobs in the town square. I think I remember the potions shop owner putting up a notice for something. Not really sure what it was though."

If only there was a way to see what kind of potion that Elf Wizard is concocting in that magical pot of his. Alston had thought curiously to himself for awhile. But he eventually yields to the idea for now and decides to explore someplace else instead. Since with little GP in pocket, there's nothing he can buy right this minute. He turns to the Elf Wizard and says, "I'll come back another time I guess.. Thanks again!" Alston leaves out the door.
He recalls hearing about a town announcements somewhere in the town. So he ends up going to see what they have over there.
(So sorry guys about taking so long with this response. Things kinda been happening lately... sweatdrop And I was thinking about what direction to take at this point.)

The wizard mumbled something not so kind in Elven as Alston left his shop. At the town square there is a notice board for jobs. There are a number of notices, but only one job that required adventurers. It was for an exploration of an item. The meeting ground was the tavern at dusk.
The bartender give Thorn a nice big glass of ale. "Not a problem at all." He says, "This one's on the house. Usually people your size, no matter what the race, want to pick a fight with me. Thinking they can beat up someone who is past their prime. I prove them wrong." He lets out a hardy laugh.
At the town gate another person enters the town. This time a female Tiefling. Most of the villagers only give her a glance before going back to what they are doing. Asami is now free to move as she pleases.

After finishing the ale and stood up, "Thanks for that mate. I'm gonna go check out the job board and see if i can make some more money." With that he left the tavern and headed for the jobs board.

At the notice board Thorn notices that there is a gnome at the board looking at one of the notices. Looking at the board he will notice the one for adventurers as well.

Alston tries to see what's on that board of notices, he tries to jump up a few times to read what the notices on the board says. But alas, he is too small to even reach them. Then he looks up and notices a huge creature above him that seems he wants to help out Alston. He replies back and says. "Oh, I didn't see ya for a minute there. A boost would be some great help, mister!"

So, at some arbitrary point of the midafternoon, say, just before a quarter to three, a sorceress strolls into town. She doesn't look like she has an aim, but she's dressed way too fancily to be anywhere by accident.

The townspeople take notice with the dress, and are wondering why someone would travel in something that nice. They don't seem to mind that you are a tiefling though.
