"Whoa," Aluminite gasped scrambling onto his knees so he could skitter closer to him. "Whoa, calm down. It's okay," he tried to assure her, reaching for her shoulders and hesitating. His hands hovered above her awkwardly while wide eyes tried to search her face. "It's not your fault, you were saving me," he tried again, swallowing the lump in his throat.
His palms came to rest on the tops of her shoulders and his fingers curled inward, tugging her toward him. "You were saving me," he repeated pulling her into him. His arms wrapped around her and he rested his chin against her neck, nose burying in her hair. "It's okay," he mumbled. It's okay and You were saving me had become a mantra as if it justified everything.
"Pretty sure he would've pummeled me, or worse, if you hadn't done that hand in the chest thing," he was so good at being eloquent when it came to cheering a cute girl up. "I might have been a goner," he told her, pulling away and giving her a crooked smile. "So thanks, because I needed you."

Normally Teallite didn't care to be touched. She wasn't exactly one of those people who had a "bubble" of space or anything, but generally, she just didn't like people touching her when it wasn't on her terms. The fact that all she did was nod at him with wide eyes was a testament how badly she was shaken,
And when he pulled her in for a hug, all she did was burrow against him, in the most basic human desire for comfort. She was a very small human being, and at this exact moment she felt even smaller then normal. The whole carraig of her body quaked, and even if he wasn't looking at her face he would be able to feel that she was crying, even if she wasn't making any sound
" Right... " Her voice was watery and muffled. She was no were near ok with what they had done, but his words rang true in her mind. That had been a big guy, and even when he crushed the other Lieutenant against the wall. Her whole body jerked, even as he pulled here away to give her a smile, realizing he HAD been crushed by a very large, very muscly man, against a brick all. " Oh god He smashed you against the wall are you alright... um... ' Her voice trailed off, realizing she didn't even know his name. Her face was wet with tears,as was part of Aluminite's jacket were her face had been pressed.

Seeing the tears didn't help because it just showed Aluminite how badly this had all shaken her and it made him thankful that he was presenting a strong face towards her now. He was used to stupid things blowing up in his face(of course it'd never lead to the death of someone before but that was beside the point) because he was an adventurous soul who did many things he probably shouldn't have.
But most things didn't leave him comforting a crying girl after she saved him from getting his a** thoroughly kicked.
He had a couple of impulses that got the better of him; the main one being the urge to kiss her forehead. It was meant to be a comforting gesture and after he had done it, he offered a weak smile not knowing what to say or how to proceed from there. "Don't worry about me," he told her, "I'm okay." His muscles ached and his shoulder blades felt like they were on fire but he wasn't going to tell her that. "Nothing I can't handle," he assured her, pulling her in to him again.
"Are you okay?" It seemed like a redundant question because he was pretty sure she wasn't okay but it slipped before he could think twice about it. "Can I," he stopped, furrowing his brow. Would it be too forward? Too soon? "Can I walk you home?" He tried again. "I'll carry you if you want, I did kinda drag you along behind me. I'm sure you're tired." Physically and emotionally.

As Aluminite kissed her forehead, she went very still, a slightly blush creeping onto her cheeks, something she wasn't used to doing. It wouldn't even be visible, which was something she would later be grateful for. She had just been crying. She tilted her head looking him over as if for visible proof he was alright. But really, unless he had a like ribs poking out somewhere its not like she would be able to tell anyway, so she opted to trust him.
He pulled her in for another hug, and she was grateful to accept it, settling herself against him with a small sound that could have been a sniffle.
" Yeah I'll be- " She correcter herself, her voice muffled " I'm fine... "
" Oh god you don't have to carry me " She pulled her bead back to look at him, arching her back slightly " I weight to much, and you got hit hard, all I did was fall down and run away.... " She paused, weighing her decision, her voice quiet and small again " But I would love it for you to walk me home. "
He would know were she lives, and she didn't know the protocol for letting people who who she was, as in truly who she was, but at this particular moment, she didn't really care. The last thing she wanted was a long walk home alone in the dark.

He pulled away, stood abruptly and looked absolutely up to no good. He was, naturally, because he leaned over and before she could do much of anything he had scooped her up in his arms and picked her up. He was careful, mindful, to make sure he swept her skirt beneath her so he wasn't touching anything he shouldn't be. He was a gentleman, or tried to be.
"You ma'am, are as light as a feather," he told her, practically beaming. "And I told you," he reminded, "that I am just fine. Nothing I haven't sorta been through before." It was a half-truth because he'd hurt himself a fair amount of times when he was out hiking, or rock climbing. Just not from being thrown against a couple walls by a large, tough biker man. "And it would be my honor milady." He would have bowed but she was currently in his arms and he wasn't about to drop her.
"Besides, this superhero thing we've got going on?" He made an up and down gesture with his head, "Means I'm a bit stronger than I look. Aaaand I may lift. Maybe. But mostly you're just light." He didn't want to seem like he was egotistical AND he was trying to compliment her.
He took a step forward and paused, frowning slightly at her. Then he proceeded to move in a small circle before spinning them both around. "Now milady, which direction shall I march?"

She blinked up at him, still sitting down in the grass as he stood up swiftly. Bending her knees she started to get up as well, when suddenly he scooped her up. She gasped, having never really been carried before, at least not sense she became over five years old. She went completely still, as if not really sure what she was supposed to do, but then relaxed. He looked so completely happy that she wasn't about to begrudge him this... Though it did make her feel terribly self conscious.
I mean, she knew she wasn't a huge person but she couldn't be nearly as light he was making her out to be, but it made her face flicker with a smile, and she tentatively laced her around around him for support, the movement drawing her face very close to his neck.
Only a short while ago a little boy had called her a princess, and now she was being called milady by someone who was decidedly not a little boy. It made her wonder briefly if she had cracked her head that day in the store and this was all a hallucination, influenced by all of the medieval and fantasy books she had read sense her childhood.
She gave a small laugh as he spun them around. It almost startled her, escaping in a small burst as she gripped his shoulders, fighting the feeling of vertigo and weightlessness that being spun without her feet on the ground caused.
" Um... Do you know old town? By the antiques district? "

"I believe so," he answered, happily nodding before he began to trot off in said direction. "Now," he started, looking seriously at her. "Does the lady have a name she would care to share or would she like me to continue to simply address her as milady?" He had spent the last four or five minutes thinking about how he hadn't introduced himself nor had he gotten her name. "I apologize if I'm bad company, I mean I got you mixed up in a brawl," he paused to chuckle, "took off running with you and now, I've swept you off your feet. I must be quite the character." He laughed, shaking his head and clucking his tongue against the roof of his mouth.
Despite the horrid way their meeting had commenced, Aluminite had to admit that he liked being around the girl. "But in all serious, I would really like to know your name," he told her. He pressed his lips together in thought. "Alias or otherwise," he added. As much as he would prefer to know her actual name he would settle for her nega name.
Anonymity and secrecy had their perks.
And maybe he wanted to know her name for personal reasons.
Okay, it was pretty much just personal reasons.
"And," he swallowed, a bit nervous to ask, "I'd like to treat you to dinner or coffee or an outing of your choosing as a thank you." He was getting a bit bolder as this powerful nega agent. It boosted his confidence and allowed him to overcome his shyness and ask people things.

Aluminite took off at a brisk pace, and it make Teallite hold on a little bit tighter, one of her hands resting on the back of his neck, the other holding onto his shoulder. He was being inexcusably charming, and it eased the feeling panic that had been threatening to swallow her entirely. Made her feel like a normal girl, just out with a normal boy. Not a super hero pair who she was pretty sure had just accidentally killed someone in an alley.
" No... your not bad company at all " In fact, she begrudgingly suspected if circumstances had allowed, she would be enjoying his company very much. " It was just a bad situation. "
" Its... Its Teallite " She said with a small smile. She wasn't sure of the protocol for introducing one-self to a fellow agent, but she was fairly certain they were supposed to keep their identities a secret. Not that she was completely reluctant to give her real name, but from what she understood, even if she told it to him, he wouldn't even be able to recognize her face.
And then he did something that surprised her. He asked her out. At least she thought that was what he was doing. He claimed it was as a thank you, but she could feel his body tense up, a sign of nervousness.
Paired with the fact that he was carrying her home in a rather intimate fashion, It was unexpectedly charming. And Teallite, no, Leora, who had been asked out dozens of times, felt a soft rosy blush touch her cheeks.
" I think I would like that. " She said, she looked away, hiding her gaze under the crescent fall of lashes. The scenery changed swiftly. Even carrying her, Aluminite moved with the speed that all powered officers hand, and the park gave way to shopping districts, which then turned to the older brick buildings of the Antique district.
She directed him down one street, then another, turning him down a semi-residential area, dominated mostly by older homes with sprawling gardens, one particularly impressive structure which revealed itself as a Bed & Breakfast, the building a towered Victorian affair, holding court over the whole neighborhood. And that was the building she directed him to. Or at least close to.

"Next time will be better," he promised, then averted his gaze from her because he assumed there would be a next time. Oh god, he hoped there was a next time. "You can call me Aluminite, milady Teallite," he introduced himself, looking back at her face with a big grin. "And I hope I have the pleasure of introducing you to my alter-ego someday," he joked, following her directions.
She accepted his carefully worded proposal and elation was written all over his face. He stood a bit straighter, held her a little closer to his chest and could not keep the grin from his face. "Fantastic!" He exclaimed, kissing her on the forehead before he could think twice about the act. "Ah, my apologies," he said quickly, green eyes wide. "I got a bit excited," he mumbled sheepishly.
He let his feet carry him to the building she pointed to and stopped a yard or two away. He set her down, carefully, and stepped back. He bowed, a hand sweeping before his heart and the other behind his back, and looked up at her. "For this outing, perhaps a rendezvous at the park on Saturday?"

He kissed her again on the forehead, and this time it made her smile in truth " Its alright. I'm finding you quite dashing when your excited ' Her eyes were still a little red rimmed from sobbing, but she didn't look like she was about to break down into tears again any longer. A fact that Teallite was trying very hard to ignore. She usually took great care with her appearance, managing to get asked out when she was all blotched and red-eyed was a feat she didn't think was possible.
Her heels touched the ground with a soft click. She let her arms slide from his shoulders, her hands resting briefly on his chest as he set her down, for a second making their height difference glaringly obvious.
" That sounds wonderful, Aluminite " She said. Maybe if the events of this evening had been different, she would have powered down right then and made an introduction as she was every day. She certainly couldn't ignore the very uncharacteristic flip flop her heart gave when he looked up at her, a feeling she was definitely not used to feeling, let alone for a nearly complete stranger. But as if was there was a dark shadow over the night that she couldn't quite shake. Not just yet.
" I'll meet you at... about Eight? " She thought about it for a moment, and then stepped forward, leaning up on her tip toes to give him a kiss on the cheek. It was something she had done several times before, but always then it had been a parting gesture, relatively innocent. This time her heart gave another little leap that made it feel like something more. Settling back down no her heels she took a step back, giving him a smile before turning to walk towards her home, waiting until she had left the puddles of light left my street lamps to power down, slipping into her home silently through a side door.

While the night was ending on a good note, they had a date, Aluminite was certain that had things not gone terribly initially then the pair would not have connected the way they had. So, in a bit of a twisted way, he was thankful that he'd screwed up and she had saved him, because if it hadn't then he would not have had the pleasure of taking her home. He stared at her, adoringly, before straightening himself.
"Sounds perfect," he replied, fingers touching his cheek after she kissed it. "Until then," he paused to salute her as he stepped back. "Farewell milady." He continued to back away slowly, smiling softly, no endearingly, at her, keeping his eyes on hers until she turned from him. Then he turned as well, tugging on the tassels hanging from his hood.
He started off slowly, but began picking up his pace until he was sprinting. His stomach was doing flips and he felt as though he could feel butterflies fluttering in it. It was a different feeling than when he was around Ruthie, this one was better. Something about Teallite sparked a new feeling within him and he was elated at the possibility of seeing her again.
He couldn't wait until Saturday.
