He fumbled, yanking his scarf over his nose and coughing, too distracted to make a decent swing and instead stumbling backwards to try and get his bearings. Heidi squeaked at the sudden loud gunshot that went off near her. She had not been expecting that. She actually laughed when Gale answered her. Oh, she liked him. This guy had jokes. "That is not a gun that is a freakin' cannon."She made a move to attack only to have her feet swept out from under her. Heidi hit the ground with a thud and a grunt. Well, that hurt. HP: 32/40 Damage done: Nothing haaaaaaa Charge: 1/3; 0/2 spent BOSS HP: 71

Gale rolled his eyes, but didn't say anything to Taym. To Heidi, he shrugged and added, "Well, it is a gun, it's actually a sniper rifle, really. Which unfortunately doesn't do me much good in close-combat situations."
He twisted around on the ground, one knee pressed down, the gun held up so that Gale could peer through the telescopic lens.

Cannon seemed a pretty accurate description for the instrument of death Gale was wielding. Peyton couldn't only really afford it a few passing glances as she searched the surrounding whirl of smoke, but that was enough for her to be impressed.
Something took a swipe at her and it spun her around, thin arm swinging in a wide arc but missing whatever had hit her. "Damn it! I can't see s**t."

"You say that, boss," he said to Gale, "but--" In a spectacular display of uselessness, Taym managed to again fail to contribute to the combat in any meaningful way. He did, however, treat them all to a brief but lively exhibition of his impressive cursing ability when whatever formless horror he was swinging at gave much better than it got. In any other situation Peyton would have been laughing her a** off at Gale yelling at Taym to shut up and hit things, but now really wasn't a good time. She could feel her shield weakening, and she still couldn't see a god damned thing. Heidi's defense did help though. It Gave Peyton a chance to watch for the movement of the shadows through the gas, and when it loomed close enough she made her move, striking out with spike tipped knuckles in a solid hit. She felt it jerk, and something knocked into her to push her back, but she'd gotten a piece of it. HP: 13 DMG: 7 BOSS HP: 43

"Sir-yes-sir," barked Taym in a pitch-perfect boot-camp imitation, although, in his defense, he actually did manage to hit something this time. Not particularly effectively, but he did hit it. Speaking of defense, that would probably be his next plan of attack. Or non-attack. "******** these things. You've got the right idea, sweetheart," he added to Heidi, through a cough. "This is ridiculous," Gale said, sounding thoroughly irritated, and the next second there was a second explosion of gunfire, bright flashes of icy blue light emanating form the barrel of the rifle in his hands.
His head felt dizzy, and he was starting to wonder whether he was imagining everything or not, but at the very least he was going to keep the rest of his motley little crew together.
"So far, so good," he said, giving Peyton in particular an approving nod, and a raised eyebrow towards Taym. To Heidi, he said, "Thank you," and got back into position.
"I think we've just about got it."

Peyton's last attack might have been luck. It might have been a fluke. It might, perhaps, have even been skill. But it was sadly not something she was able to repeat. She slashed at dark shadow through the fog, and wound up skirting away as whatever the hell was whittling them down took a pretty mean snap at her. Her shield was cracking, she could feel it, and she moved to place herself back to back with Heidi. "My shields about had it," she admitted to the group at large, voice strained. {ale eyes were searching the swirling gas for movement, but everything seemed to be spinning. She was getting seriously dizzy, and she reached a hand back, laying fingers lightly on the other girl's back as if she were an anchor. She really hoped Gale was right, and that whatever was going after them was almost dead. Her shield couldn't possibly be the only one on the verge of breaking. Lips pressed in a thin line, she turned to watch Gale, or what she thought was Gale. It was a little hard to tell with the gas, and the dizziness. "You hit the hardest, so I'll watch your back along with Heidi." HP: 5 DMG:gdi dice. You had one job. CHG: Noop Boss HP: 23

"Count me in on that," coughed Taym, nipping in between an encroaching, shambling shadow and Gale. He swayed like a drunk when he did it, but the clumsy jerk of the knife served to ward the thing off, at least temporarily.

Heidi looked to Peyton with worry when the other blonde spoke of her condition and seemed to swoon, reaching out to catch her in case she fell. Was she going to be okay? Both her and Obi Wan seemed interested in joining her on the 'defend Gale' front. She smiled, holding her bow up to block out anything coming at them. "We can form, like, a circle around Gale~." He felt marginally claustrophobic as they all gathered around him, but the gesture was appreciated nonetheless.
Gale hitched the rifle up and took aim, a flurry of bullets careening out of the end of the barrel.
