She had been prepared not to say anything about it, and probably wouldn't have until she picked up one word he muttered. Her hearing wasn't as keen as his own, but still she had heard one word. "Sh-shadows?" The witch repeated, timidly and withdrawn, like it was something she dared not say. (But, did want to at the same time, deep down perhaps. To confirm something about it, or just to see if there was a little more despite her usual resolve).
"I th-thought it was," Maple went into say, but even then she wasn't convinced. Because she had that funny feeling then too, but then she couldn't explain it as she could possibly now. But still, how to without it seeming so outlandish? The ghoul let out a sigh as she straightened herself up in her chair and brushed a few strands of her ruffled hair behind and ear. "Unless you've b-been t-to the s-same p-parties m-my p-parents d-dragged m-me t-to," she suggested but still had that air of uncertainty. She mostly doubted it given the certain types of demons that her parents tended to associate themselves with.

"No, no, no." he muttered as he pulled out the notebook and flipped a few pages. Reaching inside, he revealed a small pencil and began scribbling. He felt his mind recall bits of the memories but at the same time, he didn't feel like he could trust them. Perhaps if he was able to get his thoughts onto paper, and show her, she might be able to recall her own memories. "My parents never let me out of the estate. I did not go to any parties." Whatever those were. The only parties he was aware of were the hunting sort. He scribbled figures of shadows, their bodies were rough outlines but their circular eyes and noted colors. He offered her the notebook. "Oh!" Taking it back he began scribbling again, then offering it again. One of the pages depicted the shadowed figures with some white lines, beside them were colors; red, blue, yellow, etc. On another page were a large spiraled tower and then a crumbled one beside it. On the next was a tarot card that read 'Death' and a vague figure of male and a scythe. "Does this mean anything to you?"

Maple found herself tensing up, startled, when the boil across from her began to mutter to himself and work furiously that notebook. He had been quiet but his motions had been so sudden. Her brows pushed together and when she calmed down, she couldn't help but lean over a little more in curiosity of what he was doodling. Did he recall something? "I only w-went t-to a few of th-them..." Mostly to meet her family's clients and to affirm the idea of a family business to those they dealt with, they were mostly for those who actually worked but it didn't help to bring the children sometimes if they would possibly be dealing with the same circles in the future.
Her eyes stared at the notebook and she made to grab for it until he pulled it back, earning a little squeak of surprise from her from that. And when he offered it again, she hesitated in taking it, unsure if he was going to just pull it back again. Deeming it safe, she held it in her hands and stared at what he had drawn.
"O-oh!" These ... looked like that dream. So, she hadn't imagined overhearing him say that word? For a moment, her gaze shot up to glance at Uru before they fell back to the pages. A finger hovered over a few of the figures, least not to smudge his work, taking in what he remembered. Drawing any of this out had never occurred to her, or maybe she had just dismissed it, leaving it as it was and only taking the advice that other self had given her. But it was what she could recall, not as vivid as it once was but all still familiar. Maple flipped the page and studied the drawing of the card and pushed her lips together, "I w-was... T-tower..." she recalled.
And then realized she had said that out loud. "I... uh..." Her eyes went wide and an all too familiar blush spread across her cheeks as she pulled in on herself. "I th-thought it w-was j-just a d-dream..." came her quick response, high pitched and filled with nervousness.

Looking at the notebook he contemplated the idea that perhaps, while asleep, their dreams had gathered to a place of shadows. Being Halloween Town, he was unsure of the craziness that goes on here, but there was very little to be surprised about. Anything could happen here as long as it was spooky, frightening, mysterious, and scream worthy. He tried to recall more of it, but not much else than what he had described before. He remembered voices that sounded familiar, the shadows, the ever moving shadows, and that card. But the tower that he drew was not made of shadows, it was different, and he remembered that it fell at some point throughout the night of his dreams. He never spoke to it to anyone, but Maple was all too familiar, as if she was there too. So perhaps the idea of a Shadow Dream World wasn't entirely out of the comprehension of explanation. "I had a dream like that a long time ago, but did not think much of it." He started. "Until I saw you at Scarentine. Even then, I did not say anything because it was but a dream." He paused and looked around the shelves for open ears. If it was one of the things he had learned, Demons are a sneaky bunch and like to overhear for relevant information to use. This was none of their business and certainly didn't want the campus to think of him as a lunatic. "Perhaps the cards were what we were in the dream of shadows. I think I was with one other shadow person... so I am not sure if there were others."

The beginning of Uru'baen response sounded like something from one of those garish romance novels that she had read once... or well twice, those random books she found in the library read out of morbid curiosity. (She hadn't cared for them, they seemed unrealistic to her. And unlikely, something she shouldn't put much hope in it ever happening to her). It was enough for her to press herself against the back of her chair, nervous with where he was going with all this until he finished. Though, Maple still didn't feel that eased of mind because he hadn't exactly made it not sound so much like one of those romance novels.
"Th-they were..." She mumbled, from what she could remember anyways. The cards were their names, their essence. She the Tower, of disaster. "O-others?" The witch found herself asking, unsure if he had meant here or there. Because there were many signs that she had seen so far that there were the same people here; wasn't Uru evidence enough? But the other students at school, there was an odd familiarity. And then there was that invitation she had gotten on her first day on campus that she had thought simply was a mistake. But now...phiferwolf sorry for the late response!

'They were?' or 'they were.', he wasn't sure. She seemed very nervous, but he wasn't going to press it. He could not recall more than what was present, he put all his information out on the table. Something his mother would vastly look down upon. He could almost hear her now saying that he has no leverage now for more information and now they had information that they could use against him. He smirked to himself. If the scarf around his neck wasn't there, Maple would be thinking he was a creep or something. "I think so, but I am not certain. In fact, I am almost certain that it was just a dream that was then influenced by the recent shadow attack... I don't know..." He was growing uncertain and even his lie made more sense than a coincidental dream that he and a stranger shared. He, too, slumped back into his chair as he fetched himself another snack. If it was a coincidence, than that was it. But how does one prove it?... then again, what exactly was he trying to prove? That he met Maple before coming to school as a shadow in some world where he was death and that they have no recollection of it? Shaking his head, Uru looked to his notepad. "I suppose, if there are others... we could try asking them about it."

At the time of those shadow attacks, Maple hadn't made the connection between them and the weird dream and her shadowed self. Even if it as fresh in her mind as it was at that time. Now, she wasn't sure she could make such a connection either though, what had come and attacked them didn't really resemble the vague details she could still remember of what that... other her had shown her. The witch frowned as she mulled it over, not finding it in herself to really speak on the contrary to his theory.
"I w-wouldn't kn-know w-who t-to.. ask..." Maple replied in a low voice as she flipped the page of the large book in front of her, she had been staring at it for some time now and needed something else to look at. Even if it was showing a simple diagram of 'the ease of potion mixing' like it was mocking her. But, she really didn't know, there were a few notions but it wasn't like she had the gall to go and actually go up to any of them to ask, that invitation was still a mystery. "I f-figured d-discussing it w-would j-just... g-go v-very b-badly..." mostly for her sake, since everything always did.

She didn't want to know? Or was it something else that was making her reluctant on finding out more on the matter. With the topic of the Shadows becoming more and more fascinating, the mystery of the red spiral minis were put to the wayside. He was interested now... If Maple remembered or had the same dream, could others have had it too? If that was the case, then it would be likely that something in Halloween Town is different. It was that or a student was playing with dreams. The latter was more likely. "Very poorly?" He questioned, cocking a brow at the little female as she thumbed through the pages of her book. The hellhound pondered it for the moment and looked down to the notepad before him of the shadows and the dreams. Perhaps... "Perhaps I can go and find out about it. I could let you know if anything comes up." He offered.

"It.. j-just seems a l-little.. c-crazy..." Maple replied with her head held a little low. This in a world where there were in fact creatures who had dream manipulation abilities, though she couldn't think of any that would be that powerful enough to involve a whole school. If that were indeed the case. Well, a group maybe. Though that thought had never occurred to her really, not many did after her encounter with that other self. Maple had tried to simply let it go, taking only the advice that shadowed self had given even if it just seemed like the same words that everyone else gave. But now. Now Uru was raising many questions in her mind about this; not about dream beings but the whole experience in itself. Thanks Uru'baen.
"I you d-do," the witch found herself saying despite herself. Maybe it was a growing curiosity stemmed from this conversation. Not like she was still going to actively seek information out like the boil, but if something came her way. Maybe. It could be nice? "I w-would... l-like that..."
