Planes flew into them, causing large explosions and fires (due to the gas tanks on the planes). The buildings became unstable and collapsed. My dad works for the Port Authority, and he had to go to the site to help with clean up of the rubble. That was the worst week of my life. So sad. My dad knew at least 3 people who all died in the trade center collapse.
