"Yes, forgot!" Amrita nodded, and then waved her hand to indicate Enya should follow. The Patchwork walked up the steps and into the dorm itself, through the dilapidated halls and into the second level basement, well below the ground level. It was remarkably cold here; clearly a deep freeze for the more rotting students. She moved towards the very last room at the end of the hallway, and after producing a key she unlocked and opened the door.
Then immediately closed it as something started to howl. It was a deep, gutteral noise; it sounded angry, and it sounded large.
"...Er...I probably should have warned you. I have a Death Charm. He sounds horrible but I promise he's mostly harmless..." She eyed the ghoul up and down, as if wondering if she would be as terrified of fire as she was. "Just uh...try not to pat him. It encourages him. Ready?"

Otto's golem followed, hesitantly at times, and shuffling quickly at others to catch up. Of course undead lived in basements. It kind of made sense, really. Creepy, nonetheless. Otto resisted the urge to rub his arms. After all, he wasn't actually cold, but being in a golem he felt everything the golem did.
The golem nearly yelped at the sound within the room, jumping as Amrita suddenly slammed her door shut again. "You have a what?" He screeched, not even aware of what that meant. Something bad, obviously.
"Uh... s-sure. Ready..."

"A Death Charm. I got it from Christmastown and completely against my will, I assure you." Because no Undead in their right mind would willingly adopt a hyper active fire dragon as a minipet. She waited for Enya to give her the ready before she pulled the door open again, slowly, and naturally met with some resistance.
"DC, Bad boil! Get back! Shhhh!" She tried to sound stern at the Minipet, trying to open the door with it pouncing and clawing at it. Eventually she won, and the Death Charm weaved around her legs, scratching and darkening her skin in places, however briefly. It continued to howl and yelp, but despite the horrible noises it made, it looked happy. It's tail wagged wildly and it's white hot eyes were wide with pure joy.
Then it noticed the new ghoul.
For a moment it stared at her, and then in a moment it pounced on her, it's paws on her hip and sniffing away at her clothing. "DC, Down." This time, she sounded authoritative enough to get the pet to comply, hopping on down and trotting towards Amrita to lean against her leg with a huffy sigh. "Sorry about that. Are you okay?"

Christmas Town? A what now in where? Otto figured it would all become clear once he saw the creature for himself. It didn't. The golem's mouth formed a tight line, as the creature that looked a lot like a dragon and nothing like Christmas pounced around. <>Why the Hell is that thing on fire and not DEAD!?<>I AM SCARED!Mental squabbled aside, the golem stood there like a stiff tree stump as the Death Charm tried to get head pets like a dog would, until finally it was called back by Amrita. "Uh..." What did he even say to something like that. "You... you know it's on fire... right?"

"Yes." Amrita answered, completely serious. "It stopped setting my room on fire, so that's good. It's mostly harmless...just...energetic." She made a face, her attention going towards nudging the pet away with her foot. Once the Charm toddled off to flop onto a heating pad sitting under a heat lamp, she looked around, clearly much more at ease.
"I forgot to feed my pets, if I don't do it now, it won't end well at all." Enya had been introduced to DC, and now all that was left was the fish. When she mentioned the pets she swung her arms out, as if to encompass the whole room; she had a lot of fish tanks.
"Still wanna help?" She asked almost sheepishly now, holding out a small bag of floresce feed.

Feed the pets? Seemed simple enough-----HOLY CRACKER JACKS! Why did she have so many fish? "Um... sure..." Seemed a simple enough tasks. Stupid, boring, but the more menial stuff he did to fit in the better it would work out later. He hoped.
The golem took the offered feed, eyeless sockets gazing out at the seemingly endless tanks. "This'll sound dumb... but why so many..."

Amrita's giggle was incredibly sheepish.
"Well...I like Floresce fish, but most of these..." She leaned over to tap on the glass of a nearby tank, one that was predominantly the most common of the common failfish. "I just felt so bad for them." She straightened up, grabbing a different bag to fill a little food dish by the wide-eyed fire dragon.
"I work part-time in a minipet store. Nobody thinks they're cute or cuddly enough to be a pet so they just pass them by. I just...started taking them home with me. I know they're just stupid fish, and they really don't serve much of a purpose...but that doesn't mean they don't deserve a home and some manner of comfort, right?"

He couldn't believe it. This was the girl he thought was related to the thing that possessed him and other hunters? She was a total bleeding heart. Maybe she really wasn't who he thought she was. Either that or she was a complete nutcase. After all, just because someone loved animals, didn't mean they were a good person as a whole. He still held suspicions.
The golem sprinkled some of the feed into one of the tanks, staring to see them feed. This place just seemed so surreal, like a messed up afterlife. Highschool for the weird.
"I guess so..." The golem murmured, movements slow much like an undead might. "Part time job? And the student council? You're busy..."

"Ahaha, well, I suppose I should have said I sort of work part-time now." Amrita grinned over her shoulder at the ghoul, before looking back down to DC. "I worked a lot, but had to stop due to a long string of injuries, and then I was voted into Student Council. I work when I can, the owner is pretty flexible with me. I do generally try to get some hours in once or twice a week. Otherwise I won't have any seeds." She had no problem admitting these things, however sadly she may have mentioned just how poor she was.
"One of the perks of being undead~ We don't have to sleep!" It was a light hearted joke, and she set a treat down in front of DC before patting the creature's head lightly.

"Injuries?" The golem asked, tilting its head and feeding more fish. "Why are you getting hurt that much?"

"Mmm..." Amrita hummed, almost regretting her choice of words. Enya was new, right? She didn't want to scare the ghoul, but she also didn't want her to go into school life without at least being warned...oooh, rock and hard place!
"Well...the field trips here are pretty brutal, and there's almost always something attacking us for whatever reason. Jack, even Christmasland attacked us a couple of Giftmasses ago! Plus I spar a lot with my friends and they...they hit really hard." The ghoul flinched, recalling several 'friendly' spars with Aymet that were decidedly not. She tried her best to sound light about it, though she was clearly nervous. "Not everyone gets hurt, though! I just have always had a bad habit of playing meat shield for my friends." Amrita passed this off with a sheepish chuckle; what she said was definitely true; she threw herself in front of many attacks over the years and paid the price.
But she wouldn't ever admit she had gone actively looking for fights as of late.
"And just...well...while we're on the subject, and I really don't mean to scare you, but we have enemies. There's this group called Hunters. They look like Reapers but they wear white and gold coats and coloured scarves-" She absently fingered the bloody blue piece of fabric around her waist. "-They are not the friendly sort. If you see anyone like that, you run, okay? Don't try and fight them, don't try and talk to them, just leave. If they follow you, try to get somewhere public, or call me, or both. If I'm in the area I'll help, and if I'm not around I can find someone who is." By then she had moved to her desk, taking a pensnake and jotting down her skelephone number on a piece of paper, holding it out to Enya.
Amrita was serious about this, and that was easy enough to tell; but at the same time, she looked incredibly sad. She didn't want to have to tell a new student this, but with what she had been through, she wouldn't feel right holding her tongue.

"Is it just this school that sees so much action?" He asked idly. "I mean.. if it's so dangerous here, why stay?" His sympathy for Amrita was still minimal. His heart only had so much love it could give, and that was currently loaned out to others of the more living variety. Her warnings were met with a nod, taking the paper carefully and examining it. Well well.. a number. Score. Girl number. "Okay."

"I think it's mostly around the school, but I've heard some stories..." Amrita trailed off thoughtfully, sounding uncertain. Was this going on outside of Amity? Her sights had been so trained on the school that she honestly didn't know; but there was no way it was just a school that was affected, right? Why would the Hunters only go after high school students? Hmm.
"That's easy...this is an amazing school. It's top-of-the-line. If you can survive here, you can survive anywhere." At this she sounded sure of herself, brimming with pride. "But...more than that..." She trailed off again, moving away from the ghoul to carefully draw her fingertips across the back of her chair, smiling softly. "This is the only home I have. It's the only home a lot of us have...so it's all worth it."

"Home, huh..." Yeah. There was reason in that he understood. Deus was not picture perfect either. But.. not only did he not have any other way out? It too felt like home. Because of the people he knew there. Somehow, they had wormed into his heart, and he couldn't seem to get them out.
"I see." The golem unceremoniously dumped the remaining fish feed into one of the aquariums for a very lucky batch of floresce. "Don't the staff do anything to protect you?"

She raised a brow at the unceremonious waste of feed, but she didn't seem to mind. Lucky floresce, she guessed.
"They do, but there's only so much they can do, right? There are hundreds of students and only a handful of them." Okay this was a little bit of a lie, but at the same time it was true enough; staff had saved them over and over again, but only after everything got horribly bad. "Which is why!" Amrita, who had leaned on the desk, pushed herself off of it and crossed the room again, patting the ghoul on the back. "We students have to stick together! Well, granted I haven't scared you off." The ghoul chuckled sheepishly, and then drifted to sit on her bed, patting the space beside her in an invitation.
"I guess since we're on the subject...where's 'Home' for you? Do you have a family?"
