Kaalnia did as she was told, embarrassed at the mess. Seriously, she should have known better, but usually she didn't have to do too much to her hair. Posture was what she obsessed with, if anything.
However, as Niabi went through her hair, Kaalnia realized something incredibly clever - doing someone's hair was very intimate. If she could learn how to do hair, not only would she get to get close to all kinds of lovely ladies, but they wouldn't slap her right out of the gate.
The thought quickly was swamped by the morass of the hot day, but the idea still remained. She moved her hand to support the portion of her hair that Niabi was working on. "Yeah! You're good at this." said Kaalnia, impressed. "Where'd you learn to do this, Niabi?" she asked. Sitting still was hard, but she didn't want to pull her hair. She tried not to look behind her to make eye contact, because Niabi was still working and that would just screw things up. "Who'd you learn from?"

Niabi was engrossed in the focus of working through Kaalnia's hair and almost jumped a little at the sound of her voice. It took her a second to even realize that she had indeed asked her a question. She felt the small tug every time Kaalnia thought about turning around and tried to move her fingers with it to not cause any pain. The younglings moved much more than a girl Niabi's age did, that was for sure.
"Th-thank you. I... well, I help with the y-younglings in the village... you know... when they go swimming." Niabi stammered out. Now that she thought about it, this situation was almost exactly the same as what she usually dealt with. It almost relaxed her a bit to know that she had done this before. "I used to... well, beg my mom to teach me when I was little... and I just kind of kept helping her." Her mother was much better than she was, but she couldn't compete with all of those years of practice. Niabi wasn't a fussy child, so she didn't do much damage to her hair, but the other younglings were something else.

"They probably get their hair in even more of a mess than me, right?" Kaalnia said, grinning, "'Least I hope so. I mean, it's been a while since I was a youngling so I should hope I've learned enough to get my hair into less of a mess..." she pointed to her hair with a free hand, "My hair is normally not a problem..." And it was a bit embarrassing, but in a good way. "But still. Thank you for working on it... Your mother's a good teacher and I'm betting your a good student, right?" it was as close to a flirtation as Kaalnia could get in this weather.

Niabi laughed out at Kaalnia's assumption. "W-well, if you're better than you were as a youngling... it... well it must have been terrible for your mothers." She laughed out, hoping Kaalnia would get the joke. Her hair was wadded up pretty bad, though still not the worst she had seen. Her fingers fiddled with the last pieces of hair, and she gave it one last brush through, getting rid of the last of the kinks. She fidgeted lightly at the compliment. She wouldn't say she was exceptional, but she was an okay student. "I... learned enough to help at least."
With the last kink gone, she let her hands leave Kaalnia's head. "All finished." Kaalnia's long hair looked just fine now, though it was still wet beyond belief. "You... might want to c-consider not doing anything too active... at least until your hair dries." She smiled to Kaalnia, happy to have helped.

"Heh. Yeah." said Kaalnia, grinning. She tried to squeeze out her hair a bit more. "Easy 'nuff. Day like today, don't wanna do anything too active anyway." she said, slumping against a rock. "Thanks." she said, in case she hadn't before, "You sticking around?" Kaalnia hoped so. Blah day or not, she always loved company.

Niabi looked up into the canopy, trying to get a glimpse of the time before shaking her head to Kaalnia. "I d-don't think I am..." She stood from her place on the rock and shook out some of the dripping water from her own hair. "I think I've hidden out here long enough. My... mother's will be worried. It was n-nice to meet you Kaalnia." She nodded to her new acquaintance before moving to leave the spring. She smiled to Kaalnia once more joking with her while she could. "And try not to get your hair too knotted. I just fixed it." She laughed out before moving back through the trees and to home.
