"Once summer calms down? I was thinking for dinner once the sun sets! Don't tell me you're backing down from a challenge? It's not that hot once evening comes around, and working up a good sweat wouldn't kill you anyway." He was definitely more comfortable discussing hunting and killing, so when the topic of mares came up, he shifted a bit in the water. There was no way he would admit he probably didn't even know how to flirt with mares, it just wasn't something that was on his mind. "No.. Not really" Advice? What advice could he possibly give him. It almost seemed kind of ridiculous. Of course he knew the importance of continuing the bloodlines and the breed but.. what the heck was he supposed to do about it? He tried to shrug nonchalantly, "I don't know. If I find someone good enough I figure I'll know, right? I don't need to be giving my genes to just any mare."

Temptation was enjoying Kaitos reaction. He could tell he was a stallion that probably had other priorities and also high standards when it came to mares. "Of course you'll figure it out, I never doubted that." He winked at the other stallion. "And you shouldn't be giving yourself away to just anybody. But I will hope for you that you find a mare that perks your interests." There were plenty of babes in the land, Kaitos would find the right one eventually, if just one was what he was in to. "I was just curious-- as another Kalona stallion its important to stick together, and some mares are just plain batshit crazy. Those ones be wary of, they will seriously stalk you and probably eat you alive." Temptation could usually handle any encounter, but crazy mares were pretty deadly even compared to Skinwalkers. "So if you are looking for the right one be careful and I suppose being picky is the best way."

This was such a strange conversation, Kaitos honestly didn't know what to do with himself. This stallion had obviously had more experience with mares, but at least he wasn't rubbing his face in it. Their friendship might have ended very swiftly. He cleared his throat, "Yes well I'll find one eventually. Luckily I haven't seen any of those batshit crazy ones. Which could probably be good for a fight, but I'd rather not get my own hide chewed on." Maybe sticking near this guy would help out his game. Maybe. He wondered just how lucky this other stallion had been, or if he was just all talk. "Do you have offspring then? Or a mare waiting wherever you came from?"

Temptation was on the fence for the offspring thing. He would have loved to have children one day, but children meant you were tied to a mare forever. And that part scared him. If he could find a mare like his father did, one who was so incredibly unattached, that might be different. But that seemed impossible most of the time judging by who he had met. "I've been really careful, so as far as I know, no children." He sighed lightly. "I have mares that drive me a little crazy, but a guys gotta know how to hide. One lucky lady has never really been my thing..." He shrugged while smiling at Kaitos. "Like I said, my parents have handed me a gift yet a curse. What about you? You interested in having offspring one day? You seem like you'd be a good dad, tough and strong and able to teach the kids how to survive." He could raise some seriously tough Kalonas if he had wished. Temptation supposed molding a family could be fun in that regard.

The answer was almost instantaneous. "Of course." But it wasn't for love of foals anything. "These lands are plagued with halfbreeds and lessers. My foals would ensure that the future of our breed. Our pure breed continues. But a strong mare is required to bear strong foals, I have yet to find such a mare yet." Kaitos had never thought about love or.. really even lust or desire. Mares were a means to an end, and that was to bear strong future generations. Maybe he'd just never met a mare to make think anything else? Who knew?
The thought of him being a good dad was a strange thing to think about. Dad had a completely different meaning than father. Absolutely he'd teach his young to survive, to be strong. Would he actually grow to love his offspring? He shook his head at all this deep thought the conversation was invoking in him.
"The sun is beginning to set. Perhaps we should wander over to the buffalo herds." The large stallion waded through the water up onto the bank, now having the two stallions standing practically side by side. They were a frightening pair indeed. "Unless you've changed your mind."

Temptation hoped for Kaitos sake that he could find the mare he was looking for. He himself may not have been the best Kalona influence, but he was always relieved that true Kalonas kept their breed strong and growing. Perhaps he should look into that philosophy himself... His parents had never taught him such ideals on their breed. Wrath and Succubus created their own standards to life and set of rules, and Temptation and his siblings coped and grew up as best as they could under the circumstances. Now that he was an adult perhaps he could expand his horizons?
He, too, snapped out of his thoughts at Kaitos question. "Sure, that sounds good." It was amazing how much time had passed as they got to know each other. And it was definitely cooler outside, which was nice as the set lowered in the sky. "Hopefully we get lucky with a hunt." He chuckled lightly while following Kaitos forward. He still couldn't believe it- here he was following a stallion somewhere as he did his brother. He really had made a new pal.

Kaitos grinned. Oh they'd get lucky alright. He motioned with his head in the direction and started walking. Flying would be faster but the brisk walk would warm up their muscles. "Now this isn't just a deer. These buffalo stick together and they can be mean bastards when they want to be. One of us will need to spook them, send them scattering. The other will spook from a different direction so they'll really be confused and split up. Then we need to find one to single out. We'll have to do some fast communicating but I'm sure we'll figure it out." His mouth practically watered thinking about having buffalo meat. It was almost a rare treat. Even if he had to share, his belly would be full tonight.
Not long later he crept through the trees quietly, his dark coat providing cover now that the sun was almost completely set. He eyed the sleepy herd, and turned back to look at his partner. He nodded, motioning for him to stay here, as he continued on through the trees around to the other side.

Temptation was glad that Kaitos was actually leading the hunt forward. He followed quietly and made sure to stay close to watch for any motions or directions. He was used to traveling and hunting with his brother, who also took the lead naturally. Temptation could provide a lot of brawn and strength when he wanted to, but it was not his personal preference especially hunting a more difficult species.
At Kaitos command, Temptation halted and watched the other stallion keep moving. He, too, eyed the herd, and was amazed at how many there were. He was grateful then for his wings, for if anything went out of hand, it was nice to have a backup plan and take to the skies. Although from the look of things, Kaitos had a plan, and he was so ready for this epic meat he kept mentioning.
