...Suddenly Rep was gone. Al wandered aimlessly through the smoke in search of where he'd gone. This went on for quite some time before - BOOM. Rep landed right behind Al with a ground-shattering attack that knocked him over in a heap of baffled shock. Thankfully this collapse also knocked back a bit of smoke... not that Rep's attack didn't mostly beat him to it.

Whoa. What. Where did Rep go?! Heidi backed closer to Al, she didn't want to lose him too. A nearby crash startled her and she squeaked, a hand flying to her mouth to keep herself from making an idiot of herself. Oh. It was Rep.
Oh, crap! "Rep?! Are you okay?" Heidi called as she hurried to him and knelt down beside the Hunter.
There was a snarl from nearby and Heidi raised her bow. Matilda was sparking, demanding her to use up her charge. Demanding. Fine. It wasn't as if Heidi had a choice anyway as she drew the string back and a shrieking arrow formed, flying off into the dark fog and disappearing. There was a hiss, the screaming arrow disappeared, and then it felt as if Heidi had been punched in the back of the head. "What the crap!"
HP: 32/40
Damage done: 3 damage for 2 rounds

Rep groaned as he retrieved the axe, his muscles claiming back every bit of energy he'd spent in the attack, the hissed and familiar voice of his mother sibilant in his ears as the creature drew back into the fog with a flicker of talons that rattled razor sharp against his fear shield.
He hauled Tracey out of the ground and swung, glancing, but sufficient to push the b***h out of range before the words became too much to bear.
"I'm fine, but this ******** thing needs to die. And ******** fast."

That was all Al needed to hear. Nuru had been whimpering and begging for his scraps here and finally Al gave in. The runes on the stave slowly filled with blinding light until they reached the eyes which flickered a brilliant red and then erupted with flames. Distant calling whispers now screamed in terror as flames ignited and cut through the mist like a hot knife through butter.
Nuru sighed with satisfaction.

It did need to die. It was almost as troublesome as the last one. Heidi squeaked as she was suddenly tripped by something, her legs swept out from under her. She winced when she hit the ground, the pain of landing on her butt shooting up her spine. That smarted. Heidi quickly shot an arrow up straight ahead of her, making a face at the ear-piercing shriek she heard almost right next to her ear. It was worse than Matilda. Rep watched Al and Heidi move through the hazy fog as if observing a dream in slow motion, when they struck they were attacking the familiar figure he simultaneously longed to see and dreaded seeing.
When she turned on him, claws at the ready, he didn't even resist.

Al swung at the smog as it rolled back in as if he'd done nothing at all. Was that giggling? OW! ********, his lungs felt as though they were on fire as he inhaled a bit too deeply.

A whisper in her ear had Heidi gasping and jumping back as she slashed at the foggy creature with one of Matilda's blades. It wasn't very effective.

He was going to die here at the ruthless whim of his mother. And somehow tht would be alright. She had earned it. He'd failed her every step of the ******** way. He couldn't save himself then and he couldn't save himself now.
But he could try.
Hauling Tracey back into a battle stance he swung out at the creature with every ounce of strength he had in him.

Al fell back to try and defend Rep. Sorta. He was easily overwhelmed by the thick fog. Al and Heidi were just the most useful trainees ever.

Every time he fought this thing, he got weaker and weaker against it, slowly losing ground on his shield and sanity as it grew more and more like his mother.

Al on the other hand fell back into what felt comfortable in the moment - and that was not to hopelessly defend when he was such a failure at it - right? Right. Instead he tried to burn it all down.
