Seems like just yesterday
You were a part of me
I used to stand so tall
I used to be so strong
Your arms around me tight
Everything, it felt so right
Unbreakable, like nothin' could go wrong
Now I can't breathe
No, I can't sleep
I'm barely hanging on

Here I am, once again
I'm torn into pieces
Can't deny it, can't pretend
Just thought you were the one
Broken up, deep inside
But you won't get to see the tears I cry
Behind these opened eyes

Aaron was quick at dispatching death to the uwnanted goblins, and he even showed resourcefulness by not using his bullets. Luckily, Leah's weapon didn't rely ammunition. Whilst he finished with the last of his goblins, she scoured through the darkness just like he was as she tried to work out where the last of them could be. And then her HALO system beeped quietly in her ear as 3 red dots appeared on the HALO behind her she swung round, the dots realigning to being above her forehead as a goblin lashed out at her. Bringing her sword up it pummelled against the blade as it pierced its disgusting stomach. Throwing the goblin aside she quickly stabbed downwards to kill it. Her HALO alerting her again, the other two were rushing at her as she spun round and slice horizontally through the first's chest as it spun to the floor with a great thud. The second she swiftly turned her back against it as she stabbed behind her, and then after pulling the blade out she finished the other one off with a stab down into the ground, through it's gut.

Catching her breath, she tried to stay quiet as she cautiously, and nervously watched her HALO system in case any more threats came, but to both of their prayers it turned back to its neutral colour. Sighing, Leah stood up and wiped her forehead. "That was close..." she commented. The HALO then showed more map that the drones had discovered and showed a large cave centre nearby, with a lot of movement sensed within too. Staring at it, the HALO acted like a compass. "That must be it" she said quietly. "Inside that huge cave just round the corner".

Swallow me then spit me out
For loving you, I blame myself
Seeing you it kills me now
No, I don't cry on the outside
Anymore...
Anymore...

I told you everything
Opened up and let you in
You made me feel alright
For once in my life
Now all that's left of me
Is what I really want to be
So together, but so broken up inside
'Cause I can't breathe
No, I can't sleep
I'm barely hangin' on

Aaron could hear the subtle swish of Leah's sword every time she swung it as well as the all too quiet snick when another goblin was dispatched. Letting loose one final bullet in the direction of a confused goblin, Aaron closed his eyes and tried to listen for anymore enemies. Still hearing the swing of her sword, he turned towards Leah, trying to detect the goblins that still hounded her but soon all was silent. He automatically tensed in the silence, his finger curling around the trigger of his gun. Silence rarely meant anything good. The calm before the storm.

Still tense when Leah's voice announced their safety, Aaron licked his lips, straightening from his crouched position, gun still clenched warily in his hand. "Yeah," he muttered quietly, eyes travelling restlessly in the dark, beginning to be disconcerted by the lack of vision now that the adrenaline was fading from his blood. "Let's hurry before more of those thing catch up with up," he continued, pressing himself near the wall at the corner and peering around it cautiously his shuffling footsteps being the only sound in the cramped tunnel. They couldn't risk too much action, otherwise they'd get swarmed by the little beasts.

With Aaron's suggestion, she placed herself nearby the cave wall and began to ease her way along it towards the bend int he cave, this turning seemed to be the entrance to the main cave centre. The cool touch of the wall was some what comforting, she could even feel it through her armour. She was even breathing rapidly still, and she wanted to calm herself down as fast as possible before going into the middle. Using hand gestures to let Aaron know what she could see and what she was going to do, she looked round the corner and found abustling mass of Goblins hanging from alcoves and running along a network of rocky bridges that crossed and double crossed, went down and up, some covered in bits of moss. Giving Aaron the quick signal, she ran across and ducked behind a large rock.

Adrenaline was going to come again, she could feel it pumping through her blood like a shot of sugar. Looking round the rock she saw how some of the goblins were eating, others chanting and paying homage to a rock with holes and roots growing out of it hanging from the ceiling. There was a geenish light coming from the cracks and holes. coming back to herself she nodded to Aaron as she pulled out some of the hologram devices. As one of them sprayed out a holographic screen before her she began making the required settings. When they were done, she very quietly turned to one side to role 5 of these small balls out onto the cave floor. Their momentum woudn't be enough, but after a little nudge they each became self sufficient in propelling themselves forwards, rolling nearer and nearer until finally the goblins began watching suspiciously, their nattering coming to a silence. The orbs rolled through them and weaved between them before agressively flashing, all around them the goblins shot up in surprise and became agressive, but then holograms of armed men and women popped out from the orbs. Leah hoped to the Heavens that this would work..

And when the orbs began rolling further away and down towards another cave system, she was relieved to see that the goblins, in their masses, were running after the holographic invaders like rats chasing flesh. When the sound of the goblins became less existent, Leah sighed and almost collapsed against the rock behind her, giving a stare of relief to Aaron.

Nodding in silent understanding, Aaron watched carefully as Leah darted forward to hide, he lingered behind for the times being, peering carefully into the thick darkness, his gun held at the ready for any "surprises" which might come their way right at the wrong time to ruin the plan. There had been far too many of those "surprises" throughout his line of work and let it be known while he certainly wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, he learned from his mistakes. His ears suddenly picked up the sound of shuffling footsteps stampeding away and he tensed before realizing what the sound meant. So it worked. That was good.

Glancing over to where Leah had collapsed with the rock behind her, Aaron shot a smile right back and waved her forward. "Let's go," he whispered quietly, taking the first few steps into the large cavern. Half eaten carcasses and bones littered the rocky floor of the cave as he stepped carefully, trying not to move any of the trash. Could never be too careful. "Is that what you're trying to get?" he whispered gesturing to glowing green rock with his gun while raising a speculative eyebrow.

Giving Eveans a nod to confirm his suspicions, Leah gave herself a smile of grace as she looked up upon the 'hive' above them, that green glowing light making her feel oh so much closer to her goal. "The jewel" she said, quietly to herself. "The Emerald Jewel lies inside that piece of rock" she continued, almost in a dream as she reminded herself what it was exactly she was trying to get a hold of. This isn't any jewel, its the brother of many, the brother of a few that were the functioning tools in giving life to the Jewel War several hundred years ago. Lifting her sword up she stared above her and gave it a quick, clean slice, an energy blade rushing off the katana's tip and colliding with the hanging rock. Nothing happened. It made Leah grit her teeth "uh" she said "I shouldn't be so naive..".

Then she realised how ruthless she had been at getting here. Chuckling almost, she looked up to Aaron and said "I'm sorry..." with a disappointed tone, she was disappointed with herself. "I dragged you here because i thought there were be more monsters of your speciality... and not only that but because i knew i would need help to get this thing" she gestured above her. "... but now i've realised how selfish i've been... but then again..." she looked up at the jewel that lied safely in its rock nest. "The things i could do with it..." she then remembered her original plan... to get revenge on her husband for leaving her with nothing, to hunt him down and find out what exactly was the reason for him just vanishing.

He listened quietly, his eyes trained solely on the back of Leah's head as she sliced at the hanging rock with her sword. Nothing happened. The hair on the back of his neck was rising as they waited in the ghostly glow of the apparently green gem. "Don't worry about it, it's my job," he replied with a grin, his eyes travelling over to where the glow was the strongest. "I still might be able to do something," he muttered, holstering his gun and shrugging off his jacket.

"You should have told me we were to be climbing, I could have brought some rope or something," he muttered, his eyes scanning the rough walls. "If you give me enough of a boost I ought to be able to get to one of those lower alcoves or something, it'll be just like climbing a tree!" he joked, flashing a smile back though he began to wonder at her...choice of words. What could she do with the gem? Perhaps he should have paid more attention when his mother had attempted to teach him history all those years ago.

Removing the belt which held his guns, he drew another cigarette though he didn't bother to light it, merely keeping it between his teeth for something to help him think as he plotted a path through the treacherous web of pathways that would hopefully lead him to the gem. Thankfully, goblins weren't smart enough to set traps...at least not the ones he knew. "Send me that way," he said, pointing at a denser portion of the pathways. It'd make it easier for him to grab stuff. Breathing in deeply, he allowed a few of his lycan abilities to filter through. Reflexes and speed, and just enough strength that could propel him high enough. He could blame it on adrenaline later.

To her astonishment, Aaron gave he rno prejudice or second thoughts after he intentions were revealed to use the Emerald Jewel. He instead still wanted to help her. Cocking a brow she brushed any emotions aside as he began talking about climbing and a boost. "oh, of coarse" she muttered as she began fumbling about the various compartments around her armour. As one opened she pulled out a hexagonal disk. Holding it before her a hologram menu came up as she configured the settings before closing the menu and throwing it to the floor. It then seemed to create a hologram of itself that stretched with layers outwards, creating a bigger hexagonal platform on the ground. When it was done the hologram turned into real layers of metal sheeting. "This should give you a boost, it made the effects of gravity less foreboding on your muscles, i can configure which way it boosts you too when you use it, just give me the signal", she brought up a menu from her HALO where she could trigger it when he needed.

She might actually be able to get it, from its stoney cocoon above them Aaron might actually be able to get to it with some sort of trick up his sleeve... It almost made her feel guilty, but happy to know someone would care.

Giving an experimental bounce on the hexagons, he found himself sailing upwards a few extra feet. Estimating the distance, Aaron nodded to himself and upped the power on his jump just the tiniest bit before leaping to snag onto the lowest pathway. Perhaps that power wasn't necessary he thought wryly after nearly clearing the lower pathway. Making his way up in that fashion, he eventually found himself right beneath the stone cocoon, eying the pathway which would lead right for the treasure with some trepidation. It was farther than his initial jump and the pathway narrow.

Drawing in a deep breath he let a bit more power trickle through and his eyes narrowed in his attempt to prevent himself from going full on lycan. And he jumped. Then made it. Barely. His hands were clinging to the edge of the pathway, rocks skittering to the far off ground ominously. Quickly pulling himself up, Aaron found himself facing the stone cocoon, green light from the gem bathing his face.

"I see it," he called down softly, reaching out to take the gem.

Aaron began by examining how high he would ave to jump, she coudln't quite put her finger on it btu he was focusing very hard on something. Though a few tries more and he had it almost perfectly, getting himself up on the ledge, that much closer to the Emerald Jewel. Leah could feel her chest coming under the weight of her anxiety, she almost had the jewel... she almost actually had it. As he got closer the rocks that fell surprised her, having to quickly jump out of the way. But she didn't wait for long until she very quickly stared back up, then she saw his hand reaching out, he said he could see it.

Then she remembered. "Wait!" she fumbled around until she brought out a small orb with a blue glowing dot on it. "Take this!" she shouted up, throwing it to him and hoping he would catch it okay. "Put the light on your palm, it will turn into a skeleton-hand of sorts that clings to her finger tips. If you touch the jewel directly i can't promise you what will happen" she said, almost nervously. She wanted everything to go smoothly, and once he had it... she wanted it.

She wouldn't use her gadgets to protect herself from it.. she wanted to touch it right away, feel the rhythm of its power resonate through her veins. Then, and only then would she be able to take vengeance.

Startled by the sudden yell, he looked down to see a small orb hurtling up near his face. Barely catching it, Aaron heaved a sigh of relief, carefully holding the tiny orb with a careful grip. "Thanks!" he called down, examining the device with a curious eye. "Let's see, press the light to the palm," he muttered to himself, pressing it together and watching in childish wonder as the skeletal frame unfolded to attach itself to his palm. Flexing his hand a few times, he watched as it bended with him without a stutter. That had to be handy for cursed bits and baubles, he mused.

With the protective gadget over his fingers, he turned back to the stone cocoon to reach out and take the gem. The glow only intensified as he brought it out of its prison, bathing the entire chamber with a diluted, green glow. "Here you are," he called out softly, examining the emerald like gem. "Should I throw it down?" he asked, pondering how he'd get it down otherwise. Perhaps he could just jump. Maybe he'd go lycan when he landed but what's another person knowing about his little problem? Not like either of them could do anything.

He caught it, luckily, perhaps she should have given him more time. She saw him look at the exoskeleton like it was abnormal, to her it was everyday gadgetry. She had to remember there was a difference between anywhere in the world in comparison with Entei City. It was the same with any guild, any major city. But as she pushed the thought aside, she saw him reach out to the Emerald Jewel, she witnessed the leafy glow as he brought it out, looked at it directly. She envied him in this moment, like a dog admiring someone else holding their bone. It was a bad comparison in this context, but that was how she felt.

Throw it? Her heart suddenly felt heavier as soon as he asked, no, no he couldn't! "No!" she replied, "Sorry" she then added. Breathing carefully she looking about her outfit to try and think of a solution to easily get it to her grasp. "Just- can you get down? Without dropping it? Or yourself, for that matter?"

He thought he caught a glimpse of envy though he merely filed it away as something to observe later, from what little he had gathered from her, he knew she was basically a good person. Aaron would take responsibility if something happened though. It had always been one of his more vulnerable traits. Least that's what he called it. Never could walk away, no matter what.

"Alright, I should be able to do alright getting down," he said with a humorless chuckle. "It's certainly easier than getting up," he muttered to himself, contemplating the problem before him and finally giving in to the obvious--stupid--answer. He stepped off the edge. As he free fell, he tightened his grip on the stone just enough so it wouldn't fall and he reached to grab the lip of a pathway. His grip slid free of course, but he was able to grab ahold of the next pathway that slipped past him, wincing slightly at the strain it put on his shoulder. "Almost down!" he called out before dropping the rest of the way.

Knees bending at the impact on the ground, Aaron sucked in a deep breath, looking warily around the room, grabbing his gun in his empty hand and holding the gem out to Leah. "We better get going if we don't want those little nuisances coming back."

Watching as Aaron attempted his own way down, it almost tore her in two. As the first ledge slipped passed his scraping arm she almost began to chase after him , but then he managed to latch a hold of the next ledge. He was dangling above her and all she really cared about was the jewel, but he managed to keep it safe. With the next drop, he was on the floor, bending his knees to break the force of impact, and standing. She let out a great sigh, looking around the ground with exhausted eyes. "Yeah" she said, then looking up and saying "I'll - take that" she then said, reaching out for the Jewel. She was already covered in technology, so she hadn't need to worry about touching it.

As it entered the clasp of her metallic hand she had to pause for a moment and think through what might just happen soon. She then admired it and began to turn as if she was going to work out with him, but then stopped. "But first..." she then added. With her spare hand she then changed some settings on her HALO, and a sudden 'click' with the sound of air being let loose followed. Her right hand's 'gauntlet' of sorts was now loose, and she shook it off, not caring for it to fall to the ground. It was like she was in a trance. And then she wasted no time in placing her finger tips atop the Emerald Jewel, its cold, solid surface against her skin was ridged and filled with minute patterns. Letting go of her breath, she felt a new kind of power resonate through her... and she couldn't help it, all these years, for all this time she had been searching. And now she finally has it. In her palm.

As she reached out for the gem, Aaron felt an odd...discomfort? That wasn't quite right though the feeling quickly faded the moment she had taken the emerald. Either way. It wasn't his place to ask questions. Experimentally playing with the technological skeleton which remained on his hand, he finally found the release latch of some sort, the little device collapsing and folding in on itself. Kneeling to grab his gun belt and trench coat, he slipped on the coat, and slung the belt to rest solidly on his right hip. He never felt quite comfortable without the comfortable weight of his weaponry.

A click filled the air. He turned and watched warily as Leah slipped off her right technological glove thing, her hands pale and slender. Then she touched it. "Hey, Leah, we better go," he said, getting jittery, eyes darting everywhere, resting on the gem every so often before looking away again. Soon he began to fidget with his gun, flicking the safety on and off obsessively, an old habit from long ago. He was beginning to get nervous. For no apparent reason. That usually meant one thing. His wolf was sensing something he wasn't. Something dangerous.

((sorry for not replying for so long! Also, i did literally JUST write a big post, and i accidentally refreshed the page and lost it all. I've lost all motivation to do this post nicely crying ll apologies for any vagueness))

When he called out to her she ignored looking at him, she only felt the ability to speak, and said "...But..." as she stared at the jewel. With another click, her left gauntlet was falling through the air and hitting the stony ground with a metallic thud. It rolled down the small slope in the ground, past and over some broken stones before coming to a stop by some green moss. Her other hand lifted to cup the jewel in both her hands, and it was a feeling that she couldn't describe. Still facing the opposite direction as him, she finally looked over her shoulder "I've finally seen what i need to do..." she said, sounding like she was lost between worlds, her mental state fading. "And it's telling me..." she said, staring blankly at him like a ghost, and a green light shun within her eyes, brightly at first, but then dulling down, and she began to scour and shook her head. She then returned to normal, eyes still glowing but this time sounding normal. "It's telling me to achieve something..." and then she heard the sounds of the returning Goblins.

Scouring further, she looked over to the tunnel and said "And my first achievement will be to undo an entire horde of goblins!" she held out her spare hand, Jewel in the other behind her as she flung her palm up and from it, a burst of green light, then a sonic boom that rushed towards the tunnel and blasted the goblins off their feet, swept into the air and hitting the ground with a thud. Using her fingers then, like a claw to clutch an invisible ball in her hand, roots cascaded through the rocky bridges like worms and erupted to grab their limbs, pin them down and crush them slowly to death. Their finally breathes reminding Leah that she was powerful enough to do anything now.

Looking back to Aaron, she said "Thank you, Aaron". And she let go of the jewel, with a crystal chime it hummed and hovered between her chest as she held her arms out wide and began to summon its power, she felt it pulsating through her body like a sugar rush as a child on Halloween. Grass began to grow thickly around her, and sky blue flowers blossomed in seconds on the dry stony floor. "Show me my husband..." she whispered to herself, then becoming angry and shouting as the jewel raised up above her "Bring him to me, drag him through the earth! Switch his life with an animal within here, do anything to let me show him how he made me feel!".

And suddenly the ceiling began to shake, immediately around her stones falling from above, and like a magnet, rolling quickly infront of her to come together and begin forming an archway. With it, vines latched a hold of it, swirling up the columns before her and sinking its green tips like teeth into the cracked to hold it all together.

And then the vines began to rot.

Fear and worry, then begant o set in. Her eyes darting from the rocks before her, she watched as they slwoly became loose, and the vines turning to dust. Her hopes and dreams then began to crumble before her, literally. "W-what?" she said, looking to her palms, looking up to the jewel and then saying "I-i dont understand?". The light pulsating from the jewel could then be seen dying, it looked as if the lgiht surrounding it was literally being forced back inside it, something was itnerferring with it, with Leah!

And when the arch had finally come falling down, she felt the air in her lungs suddenly be punched out of her, a gust of wind, a small amount of it, had just punched her in the gut. "-w...wh" she tried to say, clutching her metal stomach, staring up, half-dazed she looked into the darkest recesses of the cave, in vrarious different tunnels around her she swore she could see people. And then they all took a step further out, and she counted 7 identicle figures. 7 hooded, green robed men. She couldn't see their faces, but they were holding a sword in each left hand.

Swallow me then spit me out
For loving you, I blame myself
Seeing you it kills me now
No, I don't cry on the outside
Anymore...
Anymore...

I told you everything
Opened up and let you in
You made me feel alright
For once in my life
Now all that's left of me
Is what I really want to be
So together, but so broken up inside
'Cause I can't breathe
No, I can't sleep
I'm barely hangin' on
