The kiss was returned and when it was over she still smiled up at Tuck like he was the greatest thing in the universe, like he was God of all and he deserved all the best things and more. He did this. He put all this effort into something just to spend time with her even when he didn't have to, just because he wanted to. He made her feel special, important, loved. No one had ever gone so out of their way for her. Heidi didn't want to let him go, she didn't want to sit without being able to hug him and kiss him and tell him how much he meant to her. But she would. She was a good girl.
"That's fine! You know I'm happy spending time with you no matter what we're doing," Heidi assured Tuck, squeezing his hand. He didn't have to go to these lengths to spend time with her. It blew her mind how much effort he put behind doing things for her.
Beautiful. He called her beautiful. Heidi giggled as she took her seat on the crate, scooting in close to the table so she didn't have to let go of Tuck's hand. "Thank you, handsome~. So is there any occasion behind this or 'just because'?"

Tuck grinned and sat down, still holding on to Heidi's hand as he took a seat on the crate.
"Jus' because. We don't get to go off island much, an' we don't make a whole lotta money, but I wanna give you things you deserve. Like a nice dinner an' some dancin', even if all I got is some stale-a** candy bars an' the roof of the labs."
He lifted his broad shoulders in a shrug and brought her hand to his lips so that he could kiss the back of her hand. Then Tuck reached down to produce two half-melted Twix bars, misshapen and wrinkled all to hell.
"I'm happy spendin' time with you too, baby," his voice was soft and his eyes warm, "but I really like seein' you smile when I make you happy, so that's another reason why."

Heidi grinned. "And what do I deserve~?" What had she done to deserve all these awesome things? She just made stupid jokes, giggled a lot, and acted like an idiot for a good time. "Tuck, I love this. Like, seriously. The fact alone that you did this is just..amazing. I don't care what it is, we could just be sitting somewhere doing nothing and I'd be happy. It's you I should be doing super awesome amazing things for, you deserve that." Heidi squeezed his hand as he raised it to kiss it, her grin softening to a fond smile.
He just liked making her smile. Ugh how did she get a guy so perfect? "Keep saying nice things like that and I'll say something crazy~" Heidi said quietly while she reached for one of the Twix bars. Oh...this was a problem. Opening the wrapper required two hands.
It meant letting go of him.
This was a problem. Heidi wasn't ready to release Tuck's hand yet. Would he be completely turned off if she used her teeth? "You make me happy just being around, I don't even mind your snoring anymore," she added with a smile, holding out her chocolate bar. "Teamwork~. Help me open mine and I'll help you open yours?"

"Everythin' you ever wanted," Tuck responded softly, serious and solemn. He meant it. She deserved everything she ever wanted, and he wanted to give her all of it. Heidi brought out the ******** romantic in him.
He took a side of her chocolate bar and pulled. The wrapping came away, leaving behind a muddled mess of chocolate that had congealed the two cookie bits together into one massive candy bar.
"What kinna crazy thing you gonna say," he chuckled, handing the chocolate bar to her. He obviously had no worries about her being completely turned off if he used his teeth - which he promptly did, ripping his mangled candy bar open on his own.
Her comment had him curious, and he took a bite out of his candy while watching her with warm hazel eyes, both eyebrows lifted.

Heidi looked stunned by his words, by how sincere he sounded. He meant it. He really meant it.
She took the chocolate bar though she still looked at a loss. Heidi most likely had forgotten where they were, she kind of also forgot that breathing was a thing. It was only when she laughed involuntarily that she realized she'd been holding her breath, waving a hand and shaking her head. No crazy thing. Nothing. Nothing at all.
Instead she would use her mouth for better things than saying something silly, like stuffing half the candy bar in it. Yup. She chewed slowly, watching Tuck watch her. Yes, she knew that look on his face. He wanted to know. Finally she swallowed the large bite and cleared her throat, turning their held hands over and untangling her fingers from his just to trace the lines in his palm. "Nothing, it's silly~. Anyway, does this mean I get a break from cooking dinner tonight?" Heidi asked with a little smirk, very lightly dragging the tip of her nail up the length of Tuck's fingers one at a time, a feather light touch that just barely made contact with his skin.
Heidi was slowly learning the art of physical distraction. Very slowly. "Not that I don't love to, but if I do it every night we're going to hit the end of my 'what do I know how to make' list way too early, and then you'll be like oh no Heidi why I'm going to staaaaarve.." She giggled. "Maybe I'll learn something at the restaurant we'll be going to on our trip~. Ooooh.." Heidi brought it up on purpose. She'd promised it was going to be a surprise. Well, she could still tease about it.

Tuck was an easily-distracted man, and when she started touching the calloused palm of his hand with feather-light touches, he really forgot about the answers he'd been trying to coax out of her. It astounded him, sometimes, how he reacted to the smallest touches. He watched her smaller, paler hand against his for a long time before he realized she'd been asking him questions.
He cleared his throat and lifted his eyes up to meet hers, a little smile playing with his lips.
"If you think candy bars is gonna fill you up, then yeah, you get a break from cookin' dinner. I mean, I brought some fruit too," wasn't much, an orange and a few apples, "an' a jar of peanut butter I found," he hadn't checked the expiration date on it, but that s**t never went bad, did it? "an' some crackers."
Tuck was pretty proud of the spread he'd brought together. Height of culinary magnificence, for sure.
He perked at talk of their trip. "We gonna eat good food?" ********, he hoped so. He really hoped so. He had a few plans of his own for the trip, things he wasn't going to mention to her. Hopes, really - and he'd gotten her a few gifts he was squirreling away from her, deep in the depths of his closet.
"I'm so ********' excited for that trip," Tuck fairly vibrated with excitement. "You gonna give me any clues 'bout it?"

Victory. Heidi was getting the hang of this! She tried not to look too proud about it.
"I'm totally okay with that, you're the bottomless pit here." Heidi could eat a lot but not as much as a man.
When he perked up she giggled and nodded her head. He was so cute when he was excited! "Well, yeah. Didn't we say we want to eat the local food of any country we get a chance to go to? I found some restaurants we might like!" But considering where they were going she didn't think it would be very hard for them to find food they were okay with.
Clues, huh? Heidi hummed and eyed Tuck with a thoughtful expression, nibbling at her Twix bar while she considered what was safe to tell him without ruining the surprise factor. "How do you feel about animals?"

Tuck grinned, taking the bottomless pit accusation as a compliment. Of course he was a bottomless pit. He worked his a** off, kept in damn fine shape. Food was fuel. He needed a lot of fuel, okay.
"I'ma eat so goddamn much," Tuck whispered wistfully, gazing into the distance for a brief second before his attention snapped back to Heidi.
"Animals? Like you mean dogs an' cats? I like dogs, but I ain't really a cat person." He immediately crammed the rest of his candybar into his mouth before stealing pieces from Heidi's melted Twix.

Heidi grinned. He could eat as much as he wanted, it was her treat whether he liked it or not.
He wasn't a cat person. Heidi was completely straight-faced when she spoke up again. "That's not true, in fact from what I've observed I think they're your favorite," she said simply, just watching Tuck with a perfect poker face. It was taking every ounce of willpower she had not to blush.
And then he stole her food. She gasped and pulled her hand back out of his reach with the most offended look on her face. "Fiend! I'll have you know last time I stole someone's food I was tickled to death, do you wish to suffer the same fate?" Heidi then grinned and finished the rest of her Twix bar before he could steal anymore, licking the melted caramel off her fingers and reaching for Tuck's other hand.
"Anyway, no. I meant like..wild animals, like ones you'd find in a zoo or on a safari. I figured we'd drop our stuff off, go do something for the day, have dinner, hotel..annnnd then go to the beach the next day before we come back? Where we're going has really nice beaches."

It took Tuck a second to pick up what Heidi was throwin' down, but once he got it, a slow smile spread across his face and he pushed his crate closer to his so that he could lean in real close in order to nuzzle her jaw. "I got a favorite," Tuck whispered softly before leaning back with a low chuckle.
"Ain't even ticklish," he said proudly before dipping back in to press a kiss against her neck. If his hands weren't occupied by hers they'd undoubtedly be tracing along her lower legs - it was probably a good thing that she was holding his hands in hers.
"I like zoos. I like beaches. I like food, an' I especially, especially like hotels."

Heidi smiled and tilted her head up into the nuzzling she was receiving, giggling at the whisper and smirking up at Tuck. She better be his favorite. But his announcement of not being ticklish won him a disappointed whine up until he kissed her neck. "N-not fair," Heidi said with a shiver, her eyes closing and her teeth pressing into her bottom lip. She'd find a way to punish him! Damn him.
Oh good, he liked zoos. Heidi did worry if it was too childish or not. "Good, good, good..." She said quietly to each thing he said he liked, pausing when he emphasized liking hotels. Heidi blushed, tilting her head up to catch Tuck's lips with hers for a kiss. "Why do you like hotels so much?" Heidi whispered cheerfully, kissing him again before he answered. "What if I tire you too much to like the hotel?" She grinned.

Tuck's grin intensified, though he stifled it against the soft skin of Heidi's neck.
"Hotels is like pretending you live in a fancy place, an' they got big huge beds," Tuck nipped at Heidi's lower lip, "an' hot showers an' <******** yes, privacy. No shared showers, no common rooms, none of that s**t.
Tuck rose to his feet and moved over to turn up the boombox just a little before returning to Heidi. "An' you can't tire me out too much to like the hotel." ********, she was getting good at riling him up. His thoughts immediately had turned to the more carnal side of things, including what could be done with a big, king-sized bed.
"Lets dance." He held out his hand and grinned down at her, eyebrows lifted as he waited expectantly.

"Privacy is nice," Heidi giggled, squeezing Tuck's hands. And she did make sure they had privacy and space. It was only one night but she wanted a comfortable night with her boyfriend. She leaned in to kiss Tuck one more time until he untangled himself from her and got up. She blinked, catching her balance with a hand on the other crate and watching Tuck mess with the boom box a little.
When he returned she smiled and stood, taking the hand that was being offered to her. "You can dance?" Heidi sounded genuinely surprised by this. Tuck had never seemed to her like the type to know that kind of thing. The only reason she knew how to dance was because of the shows she'd done in high school, she'd had to be taught dances like swing and the waltz, basic stuff. She put one hand on his shoulder for now, keeping her other hand in Tuck's. "You're full of surprises tonight~."

"I ain't got a damn clue how to dance, but I know how to stand around holdin' my girlfriend to some music," Tuck grinned, "you just gotta sway real slow back n' forth."
That was dancing.
...at least to Tuck.
"An' then I put my hands on your a**," he didn't... yet, "an' you put your arms around my neck an' we just rub all over each other."
It was probably hard to tell if he was joking. His poker face was perfect.

Heidi smiled. "Ohhh, I see." She let go of his hand to drape her other arm over his shoulder, a step 'early' but she was comfortable like this. She would follow his lead, she was perfectly okay that way. "So wanting to dance is just a cover up for wanting to touch me in scandalous, inappropriate ways~." It all made sense now. Heidi thread her fingers together behind Tuck's neck. Silly Tuck, he didn't need excuses to touch her, especially after she had begged for it the first time.
"Would you be bothered by me in a bikini around other people or should I look for a one-piece while we're out?" Heidi suddenly asked with a curious look. Tuck didn't seem the type to dictate how she should dress or who she could see, he had already told her she could wear whatever she wanted, but she figured it would be nice to at least get his opinion on the matter before she went and did something that could possibly make him unhappy. She wouldn't be bothered no matter what answer he gave.
