It really didn't help that Stormy was completely adorable when she was trying to get this done, a soft laugh crawling out of him as he watched her flail just a little as she tried so hard to show him that she could, somewhat successfully, keep her head over the water. Sighing to himself a little, he fell back himself in to a back stroke, doing a couple lazy circles around her as he listened to her muse out loud, enjoying the water on his skin.
Like the double-water signs he was, he really loved the feeling of the liquid on his skin. If he wsn't careful he sometimes took two hour showers, easily.
"Just like the us, the water always 'as to keep moving. Keep going to where it 'as to be." He said languishly as he let his arms rest and just slowly floated next to her, eyes closed. "Jus' got to become it's friend, and it will take you where you want to go." he murmured further, before hearing the softest pleading noise, a blue eye opening to peer at the girl as she gave him the saddest eyes.
It was so very hard to say no to her.
"Well, fine. For now. Mais, only if we can stay in the water. We'll walk up until we can sit down and just let it drape over us. I like swimming, but don't get enough now that I am working . . . 'ere," and by here, he meant Deus. "Maybe we can make this a weekly t'ing. Swimming and French lessons."
Leaning back, he let the water soak up in to his hair, making it slick back against his head, as he stood fully on his feet again, going to lightly pat her. "Come on, we'll sit in ze sand. You can ask me other questions, oui?"
Gale was lucky, he though to himself - such a sweet girl who seemed to have him in her mind any time that she was away from him. It was really cute.
Puppy love. Ahh.

"I'd like that: a weekly excuse to bug you!"
It was amazing what a little cute charm could do; Thane, he who preferred taking rather than manipulating, was almost impressed. All too happy to take the opportunity to get out, Stormy headed to the shore with obvious relief but not quite with haste: floating on her stomach, she let the waves push her forward until her hands met the ground at last. "Liiiike this?" she asked in a sort of tada voice, pushing herself to her feet before she could get bowled over and shove sand down where it shouldn't. The water continued to lap at her ankles like a pet asking for attention. "I'd say we're acquaintances now, huh~"
< < You cannot avoid the water forever. Learn and learn fast. > >
Waving her partner off, Stormy squeezed some water from her hair and turned to Dorian with a thoughtful look, his words inspiring something. She hummed to herself for a moment before, like a good Disney film, breaking out into brief song:
"♪ What I love most about rivers is: You can't step in the same river twice The water's always changing, always flowing~ ♪"
In her head, Thane groaned.
"♪ But people, I guess, can't live like that," she continued almost conversationally, shrugging, "We all must pay a price / To be safe, we lose our chance of ever knowing . . . ♪" She touched her chin and tilted her head with a thoughtful look, then smiled as she thought of replacement lyrics. "♪ Things about you, Dory-annnn / Wondering things about you, Dory-annnnn~ ♪"
< < Cease and desist this mockery of sound called music. > >
Stormy broke into light laughter. "Letting me ask things is a dangerous past time, y'know~ Let's start at the beginning then! On the cruise ship months ago, you told me you ran away? Or something like that? Where'd you run from and where'd you run to?"

She was singing and it was really cute. Like a real Disney princess and the like, he just watched her as he went to sit in the water, it barely going up to his hips when he was sitting down. Yet, Stormy seemed happier to be when the water was managable and easily travelled through when it was only up to her shins, at best.
I kind of want to eat her up she's so cute.
He couldn't disagree with Justice, as her presense swam happily in his conscience, and, if she looked, the smallest genuine smile broke out on the Mist Hunters face. Her genuine happiness was infectious, and he couldn't help but feel warmed by it, himself.
"Well, I figured we are stuck on t'is island together, non? Got to know someone at least, in case I get lost." He feinted a little, flicking his hand in the air a bit, before hearing her first barrage of questions, looking her over for a moment before thinking out loud. "Mm. Oui. I am from une petite ville out in th'middle of nowhere Quebec. I'm number two of eight kids, so I felt . . ." A pause, thinking of the word. "Trapped? Trivial?" A shrug, close enough.
"So when I was old enough, I got together th'money and left 'ome. From Canada to Europe. I started in France, an'jus kind of went from there." He figured, feeling strange admitting the close experience. "I spent months in different countries."

Quebec.
Not France.
She stood stunned for a few moments, chastising herself for the . . . What word would be appropriate here? Racism? Langueism? Well Dorian would never have to know about her little mishap now would he.
"Eight kids?" Pretending that was the reason she was so shocked, Stormy gave a low whistle. "I'd run away. That sounds like too much . . ." She valued her alone time--at least in the context of having a roommate she adored of course--and the thought of having to deal with seven siblings and parents on top of that? The noise. Then again, you'd rarely ever feel alone alone . . .
"What was it like, travelling around?" she asked. Peppering Dorian with questions was the way to avoid any more swimming mishaps. "Where did you go to first? Did you stay in hotels or out on the streets or did kind people take you into their home or--?"

She was trying to hide her astonishment over some sort, but he couldn't really pick up what had triggered it, so he put it out of his mind, giving her a little smirk.
"Eight kids is eight kids - I do not know anyt'ing else, you know?" He murmured out loud, giving a lazy little shrug, before continuing. "T'was a little overwhelming, at times, but when I was out by myself . . . I kin'a missed it. Travelling was beautiful though." He admitted, going to float around contently, he didn't mind the peppering, it was nice to have someone to vent to . . .
"I did everyt'ing. At first, I slept where I could. T'en I got a job, for a few months, worked my way up to th' point where I lived in 'ostels and 'otels as I went through cities and countries." He stated, grinning. "You make friendly people as y'go, really. Th' 'ardest part of it all was language barriers, vous savez? I learnt t'ings like, 'Wo ist das 'otel?' while in other countries. "

She made a musing noise and lightly crossed her arms over her stomach, digging her feet a little more into the cool mud. "Vous savez . . . Oh! Like in Spanish, saber? To know? Yes, I do know about language barriers!" Stormy lit up with excitement at finding the connection. "My parents are both from Spain, so that was a little problem when they first came to the States."
But really, enough about her--more about Mr. Travelled All The Places!
"Was there a place that really stuck out to you?" she asked. "Y'know you have to give me all the details now, Dory-an! All of them! I can't just pester you with questions, you gotta tell me a story~"
