The first clump seared easily, all but the barest fragments of Thread crumbling to dust under a blast from his dragon's breath. And V'lay gave a soft noise of pleasure, encouragement to his dragon that was lost in a cry of alarm as another clump of Thread pealed toward them. V'lay cried alarm to his dragon, and Vinath screeched a challenge, pealing away in a quick bank that did nothing more than nick the tip of his wing.
Faranth - good flying!

For now. V'lay tried his shoulder. Still all right, more or less.

Etasha and Coryxoth // Burn Post
The world spun and lurched unpleasantly as Coryxoth pulled off a particularly complex maneuver. Etasha - who usually prided herself on her ability to sit even the wildest of aerial acrobatics - had to close her eyes and cling to the straps until the moment passed.
Etasha?!
I'm fine. Keep going.
But Coryxoth was distracted, and his next burst of flame was a weak and half-hearted one.

Trundlebug in her shirt, The crimson retorted to Malcarreth, swinging her larger body to the side to keep burning. Rochelle ignored the banter and her own racing heart. Eyes on your own. Last thing I need is for both of them to be stupid.
Two pairs of eyes narrowed, Mal and C'tis all but forgotten in wave after wave of thread once the white strands continued to fall. It came easier after the initial scoring, Kibeth's desire to wreck this eternal enemy buring her pain under adreneline, Rochelle grabbing more firestone for her to chew and use.

The black twisted, saw the falling clump close - too close - and turned that half-formed burst of flame onto it. Ash struck his dark hide harmlessly, leaving no mark, only a brief sensation of heat against his skin.

This would be only his second Threadfall. Unfortunately, D'lin's capture had certainly cut back somewhat on O'thor's time practicing maneuvers, but he hoped that what he had done with the wing, his own practicing with Adamanth, and his one previous Threadfall experience would be enough for today.

Adamanth turned his head and let out an impressive jet of flame, turning the descending sheen to ash.

Threadfall.
He was ready, and his dragon was as well, eager to fly and fight the menace. It was nice to have a solid threat, one that could be easily destroyed. Well, perhaps not easily, but able to be destroyed at least.
They took thier place in the wing, taking to the skies, eyes on the lookout for thread. There. The brown dove down slightly and flamed the patch.

As he moved back towards his position, his wingtip was brushed with a thread that had managed to pass through, and the brown flicked between. It wasn't a bad wound, and he would still be able to fight.

With that burned tangle came another close at hand. It landed on rochelle's thigh - more swearing, louder than before but muffled by the mask. Kibeth blinked between and back again just as the Thread ate at the pants and started to burn above her knee.

After their initial misjudgement, N'mol and Tyeth managed to keep their hides away from the burning pain of Thread. Tyeth had enough Falls under his belt to make accurate judgements and their instructions had kept their riders from running headlong into any impossible clumps either.
Dodge right.
The Bronze angled himself away from a descending clump of Thread. As it dropped past, he twisted his head and blasted the clump with flame.

There were young dragons flying with them - dragons he was quite sure weren't full-grown, and who were taking more damage than they should be - particularly since he recognized some of the riders from his captivity. But V'lay didn't have time to think about that, as Vinath gave a roar of challenge at his old adversary, flaming away a handful of the silver strands as they moved directly toward his face.
A piece fluttered by, too close for comfort, but Vinath tucked his wings, dropping out of the way to circle around and come back again.

Seconds after N'mol's Dawn Fliers had disappeared between, the Storm Rider's followed. It was always risky, flying thread, but having his experienced riders missing while new ones were still learning the ropes was a dangerous mix. He also didn't like that Kleos wasn't flying with her wing. Of course he wasn't upset at her (maybe jealous that he hadn't been sent on the missions, despite his ready willingness) but not mad. It just grated on his nerves.
Calanoth tuned out his rider's irritation and distracting thoughts. There was Thread falling over his home, the home of his children (or so Z'fer told him). He released his first breath of the explosive gas, charring a clump with an easy roll to avoid the straglers.

Malcarreth sent a feeling of acknowledgement to Kibeth, having decided that more words right now weren't that great of an idea. On his back C'tis held fast and lay as flat as he could over the swift dragon's neck, his stomach in knots. Were they going faster and turning sharper than usual or was it the danger that was twisting his gut?
The sleek blue spat another precise jet of flame at a long strand of Thread, twisted out of the way of another and burned that away too. They would need more stone before long, and if they wanted to last the fall they would have to manage energy better too. They had known it would be a steep learning curve but this was more than they had ever expected.

Wen and Rynsemth - Burn Post Wen stroked Rynsemth neck, feeling the coils bunch as the black tensed, glazed focus on the sky. First thread fall, after everything. He breathed slowly, eyes half glazed and in old mismatch guard leathers.
Rynsemth replied, tail flickering as he burst into the air, wings pushing forward. Glee rippled over the bond, the righteous of being together, of air over wings and stone churning in his belly.
Wen grinned, thrill bubbling over the bond as the first flame crisped over the thread.
